Means that it's a Role-Playing Enforced server, they're harsher on allowed names, supposedly names which don't fit the Fantasy Theme are changed, OOC talking on public lines isn't appreciated, etc, more for people who don't want to deal with l337 d00dz and such, tho they still find their way in.

Granted the graphics COULD be better, but they hardly suck, and they have COME a LONG way in fixing the memory leak. I for one have been in MANY betas and played a good number of MMOGs on release, can't think of any who didn't have some form of memory leak.

NO customer support, execpt thier mail addres
Havn't had to deal with CS yet, havn't had any problems which would cause me to. Some of my guildies have and have gotten decent response times. Most games that HAVE an ingame /appeal system to report a bug/problem still mostly handle the problem via emails anyway, so no big deal there imo.

No PvP, no point of the game...
I for one am enjoying a MMOG where I don't always have to worry about being PKed, or being able to compete with XXXX class or worrying about balance issues. I agree, if you only play these games for PvP, then currently Horizons isn't for you, maybe when they implement some form of PvP that'll change. However, being the general non-PvPer that I am, I'm loving it. The point of the game is the storyline, battling the undead hordes, the Withered Aegis, reclaiming the parts of the world they hold, rebuilding the cities they've destroyed.

I know im not the only one who thinks the game stinks, but why do people like it ?
There are many reasons I like Horizons, the crafting system probably topping the list, the race/class selection is very nice, the storyline looks like it will be quite enjoyable, the fact that the playerbase can and will affect the game world in major ways, repairing and rebuilding cities and such is a great concept.

Aye, HZ is pretty commonly used as an abreviation for horizons.

As for server/guild, me and my guild are on the Energy server, we're not a big guild by ANY standards, just about 10 of us, most who came from other games. My guild is on 4 different games now, DAoC, Shadowbane, SWG and Horizons and most of the people in HZ came from my guild in one of the other games. Basically we're not powergamers, we don't try to be the best, we do what the games were meant to be used for, we have fun. So if you end up on the Energy server (not overly populated, not a RP server, decent population, friendly people) give me a tell, my ingame character name is the same as here and in my Sig.

As far as lag, I never notice any, but then again I'm on cable. Alot of the previously mentioned problems have been addressed and fixed such as NPC and character load times, logging in load times, teleporting load times, well, load times in general. They're a million times better than they were.

Anyway, if you have any other questions feel free to ask

SB's biggest failure was their inability to stop, or maybe the lack of caring to stop, the mass amounts of duping and such that took off in that game. I played SB for QUITE a while, my guild still has a presense there even tho I turned leadership over to one of my officers. Our city, which was planted mere days after launch still stands to this day, oldest tree on the server BY FAR. But the cheating/duping and just the overall lack of support by Wolfpack turned me off of the game majorly. And many others, I watched as our server went from 2500+ players almost 24/7 and 3000+ at primetime to barely 500 at primetime and maybe 100 in offhours. Granted, the game is prolly still making Wolfpack money, but I consider it a failure when you consider how much money they COULD still be making had they listened to the playerbase and fixed the apparent problems, ie content, balance, duping, etc.

So no, technically SB isn't a failure by the "official" definition, it IS a failure in many many ways.

Wow, I actually beta tested and played MCO for quite a while, but then again I'm an old car buff, have a '69 Camaro SS, which was my biggest disapointment with the game really, but anyway, yeah, it failed majorly.

Oh, and before I forget, the reason I put "different places and such" is I was going to add more info also from other sites, like the link to the city maps at the bottom, but the phone rang and I had to split. Anyway, whatever, I hope some people can use the info.

Here's my list of bookmarks for HZ, lest I say anything else someone has seen on a webpage somewhere and wants to accuse me of perjury for.

Tazoon.com: If you don't know it, well, you should.
VN Boards: The "Official" boards (tho I think the Tazoon ones are better)
Bewahrer Istarias: Absolutely great city maps, can't beat em.
SapphireSniper's Horizons Page: The page where the aforementioned info came from which started all this.
Horizons @ Warcry: Great for info, etc, Warcry covers just about every mmorpg out there.
The Official Events Page: Ok, this is actually a workaround/backdoor link to the Events page, since the regular way to get to the Events page is busted and just takes you back to the main istaria.com page.
Crafter Exp Calc: The title should say it all, it's still in it's early stages tho.
HUGE map of Istaria: This is actually on the Tazoon site, but I love this map, so it got it's own bookmark.

There are other sites I use occasionally, but no where near often enough to get a bookmark yet, when and if they do I'll add em.

Where exactly did I take credit for that info? I said I found it, meaning I found the website. The reason I posted all of it rather than a link is because what I posted was already on my clipboard, I was in the process of also turning it into an easier to read text file, had JUST copied and pasted it when I checked the forums here, figured the easiest thing to do was just hit control-V and be done with it. I think I have a little more intelligence than to just blatantly come off as stealing a whole website of info without at least changing the list around a little, sheesh. So like others said, relax, open mouth, remove foot, in any case, the exit OFF my ass is that way ----->.

Agreed, load times are almost unnoticable now, last time I recalled, when I hit the buttopn I reached for my cup of coffee, before I even had it to my lips to take a drink I was done loading, shocked me, been like that most of the time now, unless you're loading into New Brommels or something. NPC and PC load times are MUCH better too, can't remember the last time someone didn't appear when they should have.

Never crashed too Desktop, knock on wood...

Crafting tho, I'm a 29 Weaponsmith, 15 Carpenter, 19 Blacksmith... Basically my advice is craft the item who's required skill is as close as possible to your skill, and also requires the least materials. For example, a Fine Bronze Dirk requires the same skill as say a Fine bronze Long Sword, but the sword requires like 5-10x more materials, yet, strangely enough, gives the exact same XP. So best to make sure you're using the most cost efficient formula.

Very seldom do I deconstruct, I prefer to sell and make cash in the process. Usually I level off Fine Bronze Dirks, not the greatest exp anymore at my level, but I'm not nearly as efficient in Iron as I'd like to be yet, still mining 1-2 per swing when I mine anywhere from 1-44 per swing in C&T, VERY seldom getting below 7 or so. But it cost me 2 ore to make 1 bar, and 11 bars to make opne dirk, I can haul a lil over 600 ore per trip, so 300+ bars, usually 25-27 Dirks per trip, which sell for 39cp each. If I'm well off on money then I will deconstruct, but usually I'm not so I sell. Selling has allowed me to afford every formula that I can make for Weaponsmithing, every weapon and every tool. And also every Level I Technique except Spells, and some Level II and IIIs. I do admit there is more XP to be made by deconstructing and crafting again, bvut to me the benefits of selling outweighs that extra XP.
