I currently play in the US OB and there are no lag issues whatsoever, and I know I'm going to be in good hands.

Sorry as a games tester myself and part of an experienced QA team this is untrue.

They require a cross section of machines, it is not a given that high spec machines will work. The probability is high but we need people with the ATI 4870s in SLI, just as much as we need to test people using just one GeForce 7800.

I have seen people make out their machine was uber to try and get into a beta, I have also seen people make out it was worse than it is, so much as to use DxDiags from machines they won't use, or to even edit them.

At the end of the day only the QA team knows what machines they need at that particular time.

 Hate to burst the bubble, but at BlizzCon they said the new MMO would be a completely new franchise.

Anyone input their Closed Beta code since the batch invites were sent out and received a CB invite? Just input mine and wondering if I am gonna get into CB or have to wait till preview weekend, and then OB. My specs are well above the reqs so should be no problem, just hope they haven't stopped inviting.

Nah mate I know what I'm doing. I have a BestBuy preorder which is for the US version, not the EU. Not playing with GOA at all.

Mine worked eventually, downloading it now. I am in the CB was just unable to ever get the torrent working at  decent speed cos I live in the UK, now I have it downloading at 2 Meg a second :D

I'm glad there isn't a hunter class to be honest. It's where all the WoW kids would head as it was the easy ride class in that game, I still expect due to the novelty of the class that Squig Herder will be hugely popular.

I wouldn't be suprised if FilePlanet have some kind of access to Open Beta for their subscribers, but that's still not free. FilePlanet will at the very least have access just for the Stress Test event when that occurs, as they have access to a much wider base.

I understand 30 seconds. And I'd agree thats a heavy duration, but all PvP is, is a complex game of Paper, Rock, Scissors and sometimes you'll play the Rock to someones Paper, and sometimes you'll play the Rock to someones Scissors. I know I've simplified it here, and it's why I say complex because other factors enter it such as player competence and gear.

But without Root, Snare, Mez and Charm a caster doesn't stand a chance  with melee close quarters.

Ahhh sorry yeah I should have asked with regards to PvE or PvP.

I would hope that the CC spells in the game work differently for both aspects, such as shorter duration and higher diminishing returns for the latter.

It won't dominate, but it will be important.

I don't understand why it is a gripe, but I didn't play DAoC that heavily. Some people enjoy playing mezzers/charmers, the general crowd control role, and there will be a place for them in the game.
