Also due to the duping/hacks and Gold selling epidemic within ESO I have reluctantly cancelled my subscription before my free month was up.

Once they sort themselves out, get a grip of the situation I would love to come back to the game, but not until I see them taking seriously the importance of acting on players reports of hacks/dupes/goldsellers.

I'm sure I'm not alone in being disappointed in how these issues are being dealt with, inaction will lead to more frustration from those who just want to play the game, and not looking to make a fast buck.

Sorry to derail the thread, but I felt my own issue with the current situation was worth mentioning.

And thhe correct answer is:

e) Stolen credit card info -> open several (normal) accounts -> use until card is canceled/accounts are closed.

(so basically (b), but for free.)

Yes, i can see how this would work.....

So obvious and i didnt see it

Indicating the criminal nature of these goldsellers...

why are some people foolish enough to buy stuff with these people...

Handing over their credit card info to them in the process

Rinse and repeat if they are dealing with stolen CC, the gold buyer then becomes the unwitting investor in a new Gold selling account.

CIG state clearly that there are no refunds on pledges. At least that is what I read when making my pledge. The problem isn't CIG, it's just people that refuse to read what they're signing up to. Then they whinge about it later upon changing their mind.

Take a look at the Greenlight alpha games you can now buy access to via Steam, all of them have clear warnings of the state of the game that you will enter. However we all know no matter what ppl are told they will still come to forums like this and blatantly lie to those less informed, and try to garner some sympathy for their plight.

Thank heavens I've 2 brain cells floating around my head, 1 to read and the other one asking "Is that really all true?"

"Every game has bots...yadda yadda yadda".  I've played MMOs for nearly 15 years, never seen a game as infested with bots as this one.  Megaserver is probably the culprit, combined with easily (like, mind bogglingly easy) exploitable game bosses that spawn like clockwork every two minutes in the exact same spot and drop loot.  That was just begging to be camped by bots.

Megaserver means they're constantly in your face.  No matter how crowded or sparse an individual instance of a zone/delve/dungeon is, your chances of running into bots is exponentially higher than it would be on normal split servers.

I highlighted your most interesting point because you clearly never played GW2.  I can promise you the cheating in that game at launch was every bit as bad and as blatant as this game is and they didn't have an excuse, they'd already had 1 MMO launch under their belts.  Fyi, GW1 was botted to high hell as well so they didn't learn a damn thing. [mod edit]

It's the norm, exaggerate your comments to get them noticed, otherwise your lost under the pile of crap everyone else is posting, Oh and I've been playing MMO's for 50 yrs and ESO is the worst absolutely the worst I've ever ever seen in the entire gaming history of games.

Oh I have. Far FAR more. Lineage 2.

Farmers AND Bots.

This game is nothing compared to L2 in its heyday as far as having to deal with bots.

At least in L2 you could fight them.

Oh I agree, L2 was diabolical, it made playing so damn depressing that I found it quite easy to just give up and move to a game that was less bot friendly.

According to Reditt the exploits can be accidental. How do they distinguish between accidental and intentional exploits ?

I would imagine that after accidentally finding that you have exploited that you then continued to use the exploit would probably flag you up.

I'm always very very dubious when an exploit has been found, and then the wave of bans occur that alot of those saying "I'm innocent" aren't  so innocent as they would like us to believe, just like all the prisons in the world are full of ppl who didn't do the crime.

The system gets it wrong some of the time, but not all the time.

For those of you who had the joy to play the original EQ during its heyday, know and understand those special ingredients that made EQ such a memorable experience for so many people. The immersion, the exploration, the community etc were all pretty special.

Having been playing ESO since 5 day head start, I keep finding myself getting more of those EQ feels than I have ever gotten in any MMO since.

I think the combination of the slow leveling, the exploration and the fact that you never know what you are going to run into and what kinds of adventures you will find just down that path ahead, the lack of auction house so people have to rely on trade networks and each other for weapons and gear, the limited skills bar, and the group / co-operation play that I have experienced where people get together to overcome something that is just too difficult to do solo and must be done as a group or community.

Obviously it is not as hardcore as EQ1. There are no corpse runs, leveling is not AS difficult, there is no xp loss on dying, and it is much more solo friendly. That being said, I think ESO is a great balance between what made EQ such a special game, and the modern expectation of what people want in an MMO.

I think Zenimax did a great job in combining all of these elements to make a really special game. I don't think it will ever have the appeal or numbers of WOW because it is not as casual and cute, but I think this is one of those games that will survive just fine with a subscription model because of its uniqueness and quality.

I'm afraid as an EQ1 vet I can't say I feel the same vibe your getting, if I was then I would be an very happy bunny, as it is I have already found it easier to play something else than log back into the world, when I played EQ1 I was counting down the seconds before I could log back in.

But each to their own and I'm happy that you have found your Nirvana, I'm still looking =).

I just find it disheartening that ZOS would encourage such actions because of how they designed the vamp/were system.

The Developer is not encouraging anyone to do anything against their will, YOU are perpetuating this problem, players like you who rather than finding another way to resolve the issue would rather pay the offending players their ransom.

Get out of the cycle of allowing others to deny you access to content, there is always another way, if you pay them then how do you expect the situation to change?

Is it absolutely the end of the world to wait for a possible future fix to this problem?

The only concern I have is that this maybe open to abuse, say for instance getting reported just for upsetting someone in game  I might be just paranoid though. I'm still going to keep a low profile just in case Zenimax are as incompetent as a lot of people are saying :)

I reported a player who was teleporting all over the place harvesting, that was a week ago. If they where immediately banning players yes I'd be concerned, but with the length of time from my reporting to banning you would believe they have investigated all claims.

As for incompetent, I've yet to see this personally, I certainly do not believe everything I read from other players (as I'm sure many will not believe me) without solid proof, I'm not gullible enough to believe it's all true.

Most of the ppl on here would be a smugglers dream border guard, believe everything they are told.

Jeez weez you guys really know how to suck the fun from each game. One week is really nothing. Why moan and groan. I think the MMO community has really changed from when I played EQ in 1999.

Oh my someone seems to have forgotten all those full chat rooms of irate players waiting for the 8 to 24 hr server downtimes to end, and for any GM to give us a scarp of info about when they would come back up again, it wasn't all roses back then either, and no other MMO to jump into while EQ1 was down.

I'm on the EU servers and currently some ppl, myself included are unable to login until they can verify their computer with an emailed code, problem starts when no code arrives within the 10 min time window, a little frustrating.

Too bad he logged out - if you stay logged in while falling (it takes several minutes) - you land at the bottom of the world. It doesn't kill you.

You can run around etc... happened to me a couple of times.

I remember back in EQ1 that if I jumped off the boat at Butcher Block and swam to the seabed I would suddenly find myself ported to the gates of Kaldim, very handy bug, however this one time I did the same as normal so that I could beat my friends to Kaldim, when I suddenly found myself falling through the air and taking 10k dmg and taking an exp death, losing a lvl and finding myself back in Freeport.

It was a bug I never tried again as it cost me a weeks worth of exp, I couldn't get an exp rez for love or money. However I did see the funny side of it, about a year or so later.

So you got pissed off at a guy, tried to find as much information out about him as you could because you're crazy, then came to the realization that someone could do the same to you and tried to get your userID changed?  This is some how the company's problem?  You have issues dude.

That's how it sounds to me aswell.

This is the same problem I've ran into many themepark games:

Once you've explored and cleared the zone (in ESO - turn all icons *white* on map) - I don't see any point in ever going back.

So essentially the game world becomes smaller and smaller the higher level you get and more you explore, because again - there's nothing for you in the areas you've *beaten*

Again - not unique to ESO, this is the real problem with PvE aspect of level based themeparks - it's finite - as in - the developers and players are in a virtual race:

Players are driving on a road to finish (all content complete) - while developers are trying to build more road before players reach the end.

Problem - building a road is significantly slower than driving on it.

So yeah - to me PvE in ESO feels like a shrinking world

Each part of the journey is relevant to you at the very moment your on it, forget whats ahead of you or past you, take notice and immerse yourself in what your experiencing right at that very moment.

Are you telling me that when you go on holiday your already complaining to your fellow holidaymakers that the holiday is already drawing to a close? do you not enjoy the moment your in? or are you constantly thinking "OMG this will be over in 2 weeks" if so I dread to think what you feel about your diminishing mortality!

I am not a quick MMO player, I also play many other MMO's, some free some sub, so for e personally I always have plenty of content at each stage of my journey, and new content is always being made available, heck in EQ1 I can't keep up with how much they have added to the game over the years and I never will with my current playstyle which suits me.

Take your eyes off the distant hills and focus on whats before you, the world isn't getting any smaller your just narrowing your perspective.

I'm bewildered why anyone would do the things asked of them for in-game currency, knowing full well that everything is being recorded in a private TS channel.

Now I'm not condoning the actions of this player, but you have to ask yourself are ppl really so greedy that they will literally make themselves look like a complete idiot in the process.

No way will I support such a game especially because of the sheer amount of time my work cost me and the other person puts nothing in except to destroy and grief me. I will vehemently support any suggestion to curtail any such negative behaviour.

I agree.. You would have to be an idiot to think SOE would let any random person, that walks by, destroy your property.

Play on a non-combat art and design server, problem solved.

Likewise play on a FFA PvP server (If one gets created), problem solved.

The popularity of PvP within the EQ world was miniscule, why on earth would it be put to the forefront in a modern day MMO?

The setting is completely generic fantasy and certainly little different to Skyrim although probably far less interesting.

Isn't the game setting supposed to at least have some resemblance to the originals? rather than being something completely different to upset all the die hard fans out there.

I read your comments and found your whole piece totally one sided, surely there must have been some parts of the game you found mildly enjoyable? any saving graces?

If I hadn't been playing the beta myself I might have given this thread more notice, but I'm not finding the faults you and your group of friends are, well nothing that is glaring anyway.

Innovation, well yes they have certainly not done anything that could be considered ground breaking, but it's been an enjoyable experience for myself and my own group of friends.

I've jumped from Wildstar Beta last weekend to ESO this weekend and out of the 2 I think ESO is more enjoyable due to the fact it looks more grown-up than Wildstar, although I still thoroughly enjoyed my time in that game aswell.

Maybe I'm too easily pleased, or perhaps I'm not looking for an MMO that is trying to break the mould (will one ever come along again, who knows as there certainly are none on offer or in development right now, not even from the indie companies, although I'm sure someone will respond with some obscure title that has been in development for umpteen years) I'm just a simple gamer looking for my next hit, ESO might do for awhile.

Why is OP raging on a forums that is unable to provide him any support whatsoever?

It's not ArenaNet's fault. The system is there to protect you. It's not fail-safe, but there's no such thing as a fail-safe security system.

The fact that you're constantly getting harassed by the system means that you need to speak to your ISP or find a way to obtain a stable IP, or use the authenticator.

It's your problem, not theirs.

It looked to me like quite a few ppl have told him how to resolve the issue, he is just blatantly ignoring them or just so obtuse that he will never solve a problem 99% of GW2 players sorted out usually within a few days.

Also whats done to deserve all the foul language and attitude from the OP, this isn't Arenanet.

This game is a lot of fun, lets see how it does against EQN since they have said it will be similar to EVE which a lot of people have been looking for a genre like EQN is giving using EVE game play.

Problem with EQN is that the developers are scared shitless of PvP, and it's impossible to have an Eve-like game without player conflict.

Is that so, so with them announcing via the roadmap that PvP will be making it's way to EQ Landmark, you would think that PvP is sure as hell going to make it into EQ Next, seeing as Landmark is undoubtedly the testbed for Next.

As for ESO, well I'm busy within Landmark Alpha right now, but ESO is still something I would like to play on odd days.
