Would you play an MMO that didn't have jumping in it?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/15/12 2:24:56 PM
The only two MMOs I play at the moment, Spiral Knights and Realm of the Mad God, don't include jumping. So yes, I would. |

Poll: Are you currently playing any F2P MMORPG?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/15/12 12:00:00 AM
Spiral Knights- Love the combat system. The lack of a tank or healer role being replaced with crowd control for the bosses makes it really enjoyable. Gear can't compensate for a lack of skill like most games because even with the best equips you'll still get 2-hit in UFSC (end-game at the moment). Updates don't come a lot, other than the small event for holidays, but the community is tolerable, the economy isn't inflated, and the clockworks allow a new experience each play session! Realm of the Mad God- Mindless fun. A ----ton of dodging involved if you want to keep your character away from the scary thing called permadeath. I often find myself raging after each 8/8 death for a month, but I always end up coming back because of the vast amount of teamwork that is created with hard content with extremely harsh death penalty; however, the harsh death penalty is a double edged sword. I don't like losing months of progress on a character because Oryx 2 decided he'd 1-shot me. |

The perfect raid size? (Pve discussion)
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/05/12 11:11:17 PM
I voted 16, although I like anything between 15 and 20 for my large group content. Open word PvE events are fine, but at best those are just button mashing because there's no way to coordinate random people you met a minute ago who might not even speak the same language. I feel that between 15-20 you get the sense that there is a big group needed to take down whatever, but it isn't crammed to the brim with players and either the raid is complicated and it's chaos (fun, but frusturating) or it's easy and the extra time spent grouping wasn't necessary.

What Commonly Accepted MMO Concepts Bug You?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/05/12 10:59:05 PM
A wolf in one zone has 100,000 HP, but in the first zone the same sized wolf had 22. I'm the hero, and everyone else in my raid group, and all the other [Max level] characters, and that gold farmer spamming trade chat has the same quests to save the world once and for all. I may be the savior of the world, but that NPC thinks I have enough time to collect apples for her. What about collecting apples and talking to her gave me XP? How does that make me stronger? Why can't she just give me more XP to be nice? Why can't I, the savior of the world, have the mystical power the level 2 NPC has to grant XP? When an expansion comes, it replaces all existing content for current and future players. I can afford a diamond sword enchanted to +8 dexterity, but I am homeless (Only applies to some games). That NPC will wait for years for me to get around returning her apples, and still reward me the same. I'm pretty sure that rat was naked. If I found these pants from that, I'm not too sure I want to wear them after considering the places it could have been stored. Go kill that. Go kill that. Go kill that. Go kill that. Go kill that. Go kill that. Go fetch me some apples. Go talk to the guy right next to me. Go back and talk to the NPC you just talked to. Kill some more stuff. Oh, get some items from the stuff I just asked you to kill. Go to the next town. Raid. I'm wearing armor; I'm not god. Why am I taking a smack from a dragon twenty times my size and not dying on the spot? Why do the NPCs tell me to press M to open up my minimap? They're in the game, why do they know what 'M' is? |

What's the meanest thing you've ever done in a MMORPG?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/05/12 10:42:04 PM
In MapleStory, there was a broken map which caused your client to crash everytime you loaded it, and if you went it in your character would basically be unplayable until Nexon fixed it (It took them about a month). I went to one of the noobie party finding areas, and started dropping a lot of free money on the group for the new players to pick it up, walk a little bit towards the glitched portal, and drop more money. Before long, I had at least 50 level 10-20 characters following me right next to the portal to the broken map. I dropped a large sack of money on the portal, ALT+F4d to make it look like I went in, and watched on my nearby alt as they all went inside to lose their character's playability for a month.

I play on Wolfsbane and there are always PuGs going for T1 and T2 raids especially right after the lockout reset on Wednesday. There are many guilds that have regular raid schedules, and some that are in the T3 raids. I just got enough hit to get into the T1 raids today, and was able to get into two raids tonight (Running experts, IAs, and crafting while paying attention to level 50 chat for PuG announcements) which got me almost enough upgrades to move straight into T2. The groups I played with were very helpful and informative which including teaching the newbies the fights and not getting frusturated when a wipe happened. Overall, I very much like the community Rift has. There are always raids looking for new people to fill them up, and with the role system you can very easily fill at least three of the roles (Tank, DPS, Heal, Support). If you're planning on starting I would recommend joining a medium population server. I don't think anyone would find them too crowded and they're never quiet; especially level 50 chat. The chats are somewhat mature, although they have the usual trolls and with the political debate much of the chat seems to be republican vs. democrat and we get the occassional WoW player on the trial looking to start an argument about which game is better. |

I hate when people think a lot is spelt as one word. That being said, I guess we're both unsatisfied. hehe. |

Day 1: Major Crash Day 2: Running smoothly for the moment
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 8/25/12 10:52:19 PM
No lag or crashes so far. The only issue I've had has been the trading post. That, and the endless queue (I have been in it for 8 hours) to get into WvW on Northern Shiverpeaks throughout the entire headstart.

Poll: No more not sure, What class are you rolling tonight?

Human ranger to start off with. I'll probably make a warrior sometime soon, but definitely sticking to human for Divinity's Reach.

It hasn't even been 12 hours since the kickstarter launched and they have done more than twice their goal. Can't wait to get to play the prototype! Been waiting for over 6 months since the game was announced. -.- |

Wanna marry an avatar of the same gender?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/26/12 4:20:36 PM
1) Apparently RIFT. Maybe I should pay more attention to what goes on outside of raids. :P 2) No, in-game marriages aren't my idea of 'fun'. That goes for straight, gay, or pansexual marriages. 3) No, and my reason is the same as the reason I had for the second question. 4) If they're going to have marriages at all, they should allow same-gender marriages.

What embarrasses you about things you do in MMO if you try to explain to non-gamer friend
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/11/12 7:59:30 PM
Why I care about the friends I meet on said MMOs so much. I guess some people assume every game's community is like CoD. However, with all the dungeon and raid finders it's taking baby steps to get there. |

Do you actually like your current mmorpg or are you just addicted?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 6/14/12 4:31:09 PM
Considering I am 100% maxed out in my current MMORPG (Achievements, all equips, all classes, maxed out completely), yet I still find it fun, yes. |

If somehow Nexon gets a chance to influence GW2 cash shop it's going to be something like this- "Now in Cash Shop - Enchantment Scroll For just 1600 gems, you can buy an Enchantment Scroll! Apply this on any one of your item for a chance at up to three, random enchantments! With this scroll you have a 0.001% chance per use per item to get 21% bonus damage on one item! Buy more to get all your items to max enchantments to be able to do over 400% damage!" Oh wait, that would still be less P2W than MapleStory's cubes, nebulites, gachapon, and wheel of destinies. o___o |

In WvWvW, there are weapon vendors in all of the world spawning points too. |

Do you know why everyone plays LoL right now?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/31/12 9:31:56 PM
I'm currently satisfied with WoW, RIFT, and Spiral Knights, but mainly Spiral Knights. Haven't touched LoL since I decided to try doing games against real players instead of the bots and found out just how anal the community is. The gameplay itself was nice and was a fun game, but I need something more. The community didn't help much though. |

200 Bowmaster (Hacked), 194 Dark Knight (Hacked), 171 Paladin, 144 Buccaneer (Hacked), 120 Dawn Warrior, 114 Priest, and 101 Sniper (Hacked) here. Don't play MapleStory. The community is awful; you basically are viewed for your range (DPS for other games) and your %primary. How do you get these things one may ask? Hack or spend money. Honestly, I'd recommend the former, as Nexon does absolutely nothing to them, and the later will never be able to achieve what a hacker could do. Even if your moral values are too high for hacking, you better be ready to spend over 10 grand (I was around 4k when I quit) to be able to compete in raids such as EC or Akyrum. Assuming you are crazy enough to get the 400% primary to do those, the next database exploit that comprimises accounts will get you eventually. 'Hardcore' raiding in WoW is around 5 days a week, but hardcore raiding in MapleStory is around an hour a week. Even if you aren't looking to get to the top raids, there are still hundreds of better games, if not thousands. Over a year after I quit and I'm still getting e-mails saying they're working on my customer support request. D- |
