OP...you are absolutely right, everyone hates this game. I bet sales will suck...
OH WAIT.
I am personally having a blast with the game and there must be at least a few other people who like it. I'm sorry so many people are not happy with the game, but I guess they can't please everyone.
What makes no sense to me is how much time people who do not like the game spend trashing it. Here's a suggestion...spend that time playing a game you DO in fact enjoy. It's a much better use of your time. |

Diablo 3: Favorite Diablo III Classes (So far!)
News Discussion « General Discussion 5/21/12 10:40:02 PM
Barbarian all the way. I just love crushing monsters. Although I do wish there was a Paladin type character in the game. Maybe someday. |

I'm having a great time with the game as well. I am not terribly far in the story yet because I like to fully explore every corner of every dungeon, but what I have played so far has been excellent.
The combat feels great, the pace is steady, and there's plenty of loot. Good fun in my opinion. |

Man, I sooooo wanted one of those. They really went fast. Oh well, guess I will have to wait for release which hopefully isn't too far off. |

I played the beta. I was a bit underwhelmed by the graphics, especially the character models. Also, after the many years they have been working on it, I found it kind of ridiculous that there was zero character appearance customization. All RPG's should have this in my opinion.
However, I must admit that the gameplay felt really good. I played the Barbarian. The hits had impact, it was nice to have a story, and the loot was plentiful. Pretty addictive overall.
I will be picking up a copy. All of those who don't like the game are certainly free to do otherwise.

While I am certainly no expert, from what I understand there is a quite extensive dye system that allows you to dye individual armor pieces. If I am not mistaken each piece could have multiple dye locations as well. Meaning for chest armor for example, you may be able to dye the main part and the sleeves separate colors. |

I'm glad it's not Skyrim. I am about 40hrs in on KOA and I think it's an awesome game. The artwork (environments, monsters) is excellent and the combat is a blast. Does it need some tweaking (difficulty, loot, etc)? Certainly it does. Most games do need some tweaking after release. Take Skyrim for example, when I tried it the ui was terrible. From what I understand though, there have been several mods etc to tweak that. It happens.

Mythos: A Million Dungeons Cleared in Open Beta
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/24/12 10:18:41 AM
Mythos is a sad story really. It had such great potential. A Diablo style MMORPG with a nice art style and detailed crafting system. I played the beta back when Flagship was working on it. The problem is, like many have said, is that it wasn't finished then and nothing has been done to the game since then. I don't know what these other companies (Hanbitsoft and T3) have been doing with it. I can see no difference in the game since the Flagship beta. I honestly think all they did was spend their time doing Korean translations and did not actually improve the gamplay or content one bit. I think it could have been great, but it's way too little way too late now. |

I would love to give the game a shot. |

I personally prefer stylized art. For one thing it has a much longer shelf life. The more important thing though is that, in my opinion,it's typically more interesting and creative. There is also usually more color. Take for example Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, very colorful beautiful graphics. You really feel like you are in a fantasy world. Skyrim is a nice game, but also very brown and gray and rather boring visually in my opinion. Anyway, just my 2 cents. |

Diablo 3: Changing Systems to Get It Right
News Discussion « General Discussion 1/19/12 12:31:07 PM
I like the new changes but enough is enough already.
You can't continue to endlessly rework systems and expect to ever get a game to release. Their pusuit of perfection has gotten them to the point where they are second guessing every decision over and over again into infinity. Release it already! You can always patch it later when and if your paying customers (who have been waiting for a crazy amount of time) decide if they don't like a particular feature.. |

I have to agree with the OP. I really wanted to like this game. I have tried to play it a few times, but the highest I ever made it was level 17 or so.
I find it boring as well. The landscapes are awesome, but the character and monster models are aweful. None of the gear looks cool (even in screenshots I have seen of higher level characters).
The worst part for me was the combat, combat animations, and combat sound. Combat is terribly boring and the combat animations are stiff and not very dynamic at all.
Just my opinion of course. For those that enjoy it, I'm happy for you. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Is Fatigue Setting In?
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/21/11 10:55:40 AM
For me it's not just TOR. Games get announced so early now. You start hearing about them years before release. It's hard to stay excited about ANY game for years in my opinion. And it's hard for any game to not be a disappointment after a await like that. By the time a game releases you have seen most of the game environments, monsters, attacks, etc.
Take Diablo 3 for example. As excited as I was a couple years ago, it's just hard for me to be very excited now. It looks great to me, but will it be worth the crazy wait?
I kinda wish they would just wait until 6 months or so from release before they even mention a game. |

I love the art style of TERA. I think it is visually one of the most beautiful games that I have ever seen. I just wish they would hurry up and get this sucker playable in the USA. I want to see if it is as fun as it is beautiful. Enough already! |

Are the wrong people developing games now?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/29/11 12:33:21 AM
I think another thing that has changed is the scope, number of people, and the length of the development cycle. Back in the day the development of games involved only a few people (sometimes even a single person did it all) and did not take years as it does now. This small team would do design, programming, art, sound, and so on. Now it consists of a huge team broken up into smaller teams dedicated to specific pieces. For example some will do art only (sometimes it even goes more granular than that....employee x only does concept art, or environment art). An individual may only work on a single small aspect of a game.
It's less intimate and there just isn't that sense of ownership. It's just not the same.
I think that is why you see some of the more interesting games these days coming from small Indie developers.
Just my 2 cents. |

WildStar: Story of the Week: WildStar Revealed
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/20/11 10:44:54 PM
This reveal was a very nice surprise indeed. I love the art style and it just seems to have a refreshing feeling of fun and adventure to it. I don't care about those who scream clone all of the time. If I have fun playing, then nothing else matters. People take this stuff way too seriously these days. |

Marvel Super Hero Squad Online: Super Hero Squad Online: Fun for All Ages
News Discussion « General Discussion 8/05/11 7:40:22 AM
My 7 yr old son ha been playing and he likes it however......WAY too much stuff is locked down unless you put up the cash and become an "Agent". I don't know how many times I've heard "I can't do X because you have to be an Agent". It's pretty bad when a 7 yr old can see how restricted the free players are. |

Just a couple of small things that have bothered me so far...
1. Not feeling the Asura. They look kind of dorky to me. 2. Not a big fan of the Charr models. 3. The humans look like mannequins. They have no skintone variation or character to them. They remind me of premade models you would buy cheap somewhere. I kept telling myself "it's prerelease and probably stand-in art", but every video I see they look the same.
Minor stuff I know, but it still stands out to me. Since it's prerelease it could all change as well.
