Positron mentioned this a while back. Just because Jack is no longer there doesn't mean Statesman should be removed.

To the OP.

Did you really need to post practically the same thing in both the Coh and CoV forums?

To Deathstrike,

Is there a game that gives you issue sized updates more often?

They did 3 issues last year. Thats one every four months. Yes they seem to be hitting this one a month late, but at least it is free.

You have to use the updater. There is no other way to download the game.

Not all servers havethe samw population level. The servers listed at the bottom of the list tend to have the highest population, getting small as at the top one. (except pinnacle will be listed at the top since it was the last server you were on.)

As for crafting, you can craft anything at any time as long as you have the recipe and the salvage to do it. Ans yes, it is pretty much random to avoid people farming a certain spawn to get a certain drop. Rare recipes will come from running Strikeforces, which are a series of missions for a certain size team. Once you begin a strike force you have to see it all the way though with the same team to get the reward. Arcane salvage drops from mobs with an arcane theme: demons, witched, ghost etc etc. Tech salvage drops from mobs with a tech theme: police, robots, Crey etc etc. The only variantion in this that I know of are clockwork, they look like robots, but they drop arcane salvage.

If you are looking for a super group you should hit the official forum for your server. You should be able to fond someone.

My suggestion, if you want a higher population server with active SGs you should hit up Freedom, virtue, liberty, or justice. Just go to the forums for one of those servers and get ahold of someone in the Repeat Offenders coalition. They are absolutly huge, they have multiple SGs on all four servers and you will almost always be able to find someone to play with. Also, don't be afraid to have multiple characters on multiple servers. This game isn't about getting to the cap and then maxing out your gear. This game is all about having fun and making friends. Once a character hits 50 its all pvp and making a new character.

I wouldn't pay $100 for it myself. I admit its a nice looking sword, but I just can't imagine paying that much for something that the only use is hanging on the wall.

Standard longsword was actually about 42 inches, so its got about an extra 5 inches to it. The blade is a bit short, but thats because of the design.

edit: And there is no way I would pay that much for a sword thats value is tied to a game. Soon as WoW does die, not saying it is, but lets be honest here, the guy who paid $20,700 for #1 might be able to get $100 for it.

Ditto ditto ditto.

CoV is definitely better designed, particularly the ATs. I think they messed up the hero ATs, eg. defenders. Giving controllers defender powers essentially makes controllers better defenders than defenders. What they did in CoV is definitely smarter.

If they're serious about improving the game, I think eventually they're going to have to take a hard look at the hero side of the game and consider a major redesign of some elements.

Primaries are always better then secondarys. Therefore a defender primary is better then the Controller secondary with the same name. Just because the name and power list is the same doesn't mean they work as well.

I can't remember the actual percentages, but maybe someone else here will.

until you consider that controllers get containment (double damage) and defenders get um, "my friends are dying, so my powers cost less endurance to use".

I was considering containment, which is not double damge. Containment has no effect on the secondary so defender primary will still beat a controller primary.

Put it this way. A team of controllers are not that effective pre-level 32. A team of defenders, on the other hand are, are a force to be reckoned with from level 1-50.

edit: Not to even mention that defenders get the best powers from the set sooner. So a /kin troller gets speed boost at 20, but the kin/ defender got it at 12 and already has it fully slotted by 20.

Once the original patch is downloaded you don't really have much to worry about. Maintenance patchs usually download pretty quick and content patches (Issues) are set up to download  the majority of the art work for the patch on a predownload. The Issue predownload will start up a few weeks before the issue goes live and will happen when you log off.

This qusetion reminded me of something I saw in general chat earlier today. People were discussing what classes were overpowered and I actually saw someone say "All I know is my preist can take out any other class with no problems at all, but shamans always beat me." According to this logic, the priest is fine, but shamans are overpowered.

There's only 60k Copies of the CE being made period in the US and 55k in Europe if you don't get the CE before launch chances are you won't get it for 80 bucks you'll get it off ebay for even more :)

Reread what I said. If I get a trial and like the game I will go out and buy the standard edition.

Believe it or not, some people find it easier to come up the 15-20 dollars a month then it is to come up with 80 bucks at one time to buy the CE. Personally, I'm gonna wait for a trial and try it out. Then if I like it I will pay for the regular version at the store. Not like the little extras are going to be game breaking for you or the stuff become highly collectible.

If you are looking for advice try to get a hold of someone from the Repeat Offenders coalition on Freedom, virture, and Justice server. I know Altoholic Monkey had a petless MM. You might pm her on the official forum about it.

But that is assuming they only have one team of devs. If they had only had a single team of devs then champions would not be in the state it is in after Posi and the others left. Go to the CO website and read the article I referrenced. Jack talks as though each game has its own dev team. Therefore no loss of focus because each team does its own game.

WoW's little patches are nothing compared to CoX issues. An issue for CoX adds powersets, storylines, missions, and new or revamped areas for play. I've been playing WoW for a little while now and have been very underwhelmed by the things they add from time to time. Patch 2.4??? Added things for level 70s. Thats it.

And saying CoV was an exspansion is just stupid. The very definition of an exspansion means it can not be played without the original game. You didn't need CoH to play CoV.

it seems that all that is needed to have an "opinion" is a connection to the internet.

i'm curious, since you seem to know far more than i, why did existing players who only had coh or cov, recently get the other for free?  why hasn't marketing spoke of COV as a stand-alone game since the sensational flop that was marketing deciding it should be a "stand alone" game?

i mean, i'm pretty stupid, so maybe you can shed some light on why they totally changed the way they market these "two" games?

Actually you don't even need the internet to have an opinion. You are welcome to your opinion, but the definition of exspansions is pretty much black and white. You can't just buy The Burning Crusade and play it unless you have World of Warcraft. Therefore it was an "exspansion". On the other hand you can buy a copy of CoV and play it without having CoH. Therfore it is a stand alone game. As for selling them together? Good business. Just like giving whoever had just one the other for free.

If my logic is to complicated or is getting in the way of your righteous indignation then just let me know. I would be glad to post a simple "meh" next time.

at least you're consistent, living in your tiny box and all.  sorry you just can't grasp any concept outside of said box.  that being said, there's a ton of MMOs out there that you must just love to death.  they were made for you, enjoy them.

Meh.
