I doubt you could even launch EQ2 with only 512 RAM, or almost any newer MMO actually.  Except World of Warcraft. If you can come up with the monthly fee I would suggest you find a way to give that one a try, I think you'd like it and your computer will run it, and it will still look good :)

Lol ... I would suggest you go read upon the game a bit :) You will see other players, but usually as they dash from instance to instance or stand around at the shop area. There is global chat so you can trade items and look for groups there.

Subscription ... better go look that up, I dont remember. There are some areas you cant get to I think, and you cant use the elite difficulty modes if I remember correctly. That wouldnt matter until you've played for quite awhile though.

Leveling moves along pretty quickly, I wouldnt call it much of a grind. It gets repetetive though, basically the game is about killing whatever is in your way and thats about it ;)

Decent amount of armor/weapons from what I have seen. I didn't play it all that long though. They do have two mage type classes, but no archer - just a marksman that uses guns.

Max level is 50. Yes, you pick and class and level up. Each level you spend attribute points and upgrade a skill. You can get new armor, but there is also a system by which you break down the junk you loot and use that to keep upgrading your current weapons so they stay at your approximate level.

I dont know if you ever played Diablo II but it has a similar gameplay style. You hack and slash through instances to complete quests, then rinse and repeat. Once you beat the game, you play through again on higher difficulty which gives you better loot, etc. The highest difficulty level has perma-death :)

You have the option to P2P, but it is not required. You just get extra benefits. The player base is fine despite what some will tell you :) Its pretty easy to find a guild if you want, and there seems to be people grouping up regularly. Most seem to solo though *shrug*

Good luck, hope you enjoy the game if you choose it :)

Hmm ... if you are not willing or able to pay anything monthly, I suppose you could try Hellgate: London. Its more like Guild Wars when it comes to MMO's though - Some hub areas where people congregate, and the rest is instanced. All the other major MMOs you didn't mention have a mandatory monthly fee. You can buy some of them pretty cheap now though and maybe be able to afford a month or two of play time

You got pretty lucky :) The keys have been going up 2-3 times a day and they do not last for long.

To the OP - people are amused that you were wondering why the game won't launch, when open beta has not even started yet :) Perhaps that is not your issue though, could you further explain what you are trying to do? Maybe just install the game?

Just adding my name to the list :) By far my favorite MMO to date. I spent five years in Brittania and still maintain one active account out of nothing but loyalty and nostaligia  And to keep the "museum" I own on Great Lakes standing even though its in Felucca and no one goes there anymore lol. I have tried several times to go back to play, and it has never been the same. *feeling homesick*

If you sub to the game then it is very fun.  For the first 3 months everyone had every right to complain and call the game a PoS.  However they have done alot of work, and its real results for us that play and sub, and even non subs.

As for how many play, its more around 20-30k then 10k.  All i will say is during primetime the channels are active, the stations are filled with players of all modes, and alot of gamers are having fun.

I agree with the above :) There is no lack of players in the game, not even close. I play the game very casually, but when I do play I have fun and to me thats what matters :)

Like many others here, I started with Ultima Online beta so thats about 11 years for me  I stuck with UO for 5 solid years, and it remains my favorite MMO to date. I am pretty sure nothing will surpass the experiences I had in that game. It cannot be matched for sheer variety of things to do, and trouble to get in. Damm, now Im making myself homesick

I have played most major MMO's that have come out since, from AC through Warhammer beta. I have had some good times, but UO will always hold the #1 spot in my gamer heart

I just started the game this week, and I have to agree the game looks MUCH better than these screenshots indicate! The game may have some shortcomings, but the scenery is often breathtaking.

And, my flying pig can have whatever sized wings it wants.

My problem with Tomb Raider is not her cup size. It's that she is carrying 2 Desert Eagle .50 automatics. Now these guns HAVE to weigh 72oz or more fully loaded. Not to put down the female body here (it's one of my favorite things) but c'mon! Try to hold that kind of weight straight out from your body and aim one handed.

Now lets talk about recoil while you have all this weight extended out there. A .50 is a hell of a handgun round for a man built like a truck. I won't say more...But I will include a video of a woman shooting a DE .50, 2 handed.

 Get the idea?

I get the idea ... but I dont really care? I certainly don't want to be running around in a game gasping for breath and trying to prop up my shaking arms to get a shot off    I enjoy being able to do things in a game I could never do in real life.  People who obsess over reality in video games scare me a little

I also keep an eye on this game and keep hoping some rich western-fanatic will dump a twenty million or so on it    I continue to be surprised there isn't a western MMO on the way. It seems to be an excellent genre for a game especially if it was skill based rather than class based. I would love to take part in building up a small shanty town to a bustling boom town. The crafting/ecnomy side could be a ton of fun, as could PvP between townfolk and outlaws.

I'd better stop now before I give away all my secret design plans

I've seen it, marriage in video games. Makes me want to throw up. I have nothing against same-sex marriage but when it's in a video game and both are male but one claims to be a female and the other party just accepts it and agrees to an ingame marriage...

Look i don't even know where to start really. I hope all games in the future lack an actual marriage system for the sake of the players sanity. If people want to roleplay out an ingame wedding in a game that doesn't support it then you'll see me there swords swinging, guns blazing, etc. I'm going to be there and I'm going to tear that wedding up!

Wow, I honestly cannot even imagine being this offended over how anyone plays an MMO they pay money to play. I find showing up to disrupt a wedding that has nothing to do with you far more disturbing than the wedding itself.

I have played MMO's for over 10 years, and have probably seen just about every situation there is to see. In-game marriage is a total non-issue compared to other behaviour I have witnessed

There are screenshots directly under the fairy showing exactly what the game looks like, its not like they are pretending otherwise. For a game as old as Horizons is, it looks acceptable. Not everyone needs cutting edge graphics to enjoy a game ya know!  This is coming from someone who spent 5 years in Ultima Online

Well ... I cant go look because I have a sony station pass and therefore an active VG account. If there is no way to reactivate a closed account, that is pretty horrible! I have never come accross that in an MMO. Sorry I cant be of more help.
