I made a promise to myself about 4 years ago that I would NEVER buy another X-Box again. After owning a 360 for about 2 years and playing very ,very casually on it (maybe 8 hours a week) i got the red ring of death. I had no intention of buying a next gen xbox before but after learning the details of the Xboxone that is just the icing on the cake for me. I can't see why anyone would go xboxone over ps4

This thread was a real buzz kill as I am greatly enjoying the game at a low lvl. My only question to those of you at lvl cap is , How essential are these top tier enchants to running dungeons? I mean obviosly they make your toon stronger but are the "end game " dungeons next to immposible to beat without a party of 5 decked out in cash shop enchants?

After looking at screenshots and knowing very little of the game i wrote this one off until i saw a forum post about the Foundry and the ability to design your own quests and dungeons which intrigued me. So I downloaded the game with the expection that this was another lame themepark, My only intention to play was to get to lvl 15 so I could create content.
Well after 4 or so days and lvl 14 I'm more interested in actually playing the game than creating content. The action combat is just that good. The game is fast, simple and just very FUN to play. |

This will probably be a unfair opinion/comparison since i spent around 2 months in Guild Wars2 reaching max lvl vs 2 days in Neverwinter reaching lvl 10 but here it goes. Graphics This is actually alot tougher than it first apears it really comes down to prefrence. Guild Wars 2 looks good, very good with a more realistic approach to everything while NeverWinter seems to have gone with a more Cartooney WOW look. Personally I'm one of those who likes a Video game to look like a video game and not a replica of what i see when i walk out the door. Despite my personel tatste it would be insane to give the edge to Never Winter EDGE: GUILDWARS2
World/Exploration This one is easy, Guild wars 2 is far superior in terms of exploration and world design. Neverwinter is heavily instanced and on rails even worse so than SWTOR. Keep in mind though Neverwinter is not your typical MMO its more of a DUNGEON CRAWLER expierance than a traditional MMO, Regardless EDGE: GuildWars2
Combat This one is not contest for me, Im sure alot will disagree but NEVERWINTER in my opinion is FAR SUPERIOR than GW2. As a matter of fact NW is even better than Tera's combat. The action is fast and very addictive, combat feels smooth and very reliant on player skill, Love the fact there is built in dmg-healing meters that display after dungeon runs. Sure there are much less skills to choose from than other MMO's but to me this is a huge +. Guild Wars 2 combat is overhyped, Its a constant kite fest and just feels very detached with no sense of weight to dmg unlike Tera & NW. EDGE: Nevewinter
Story They both suck but Never Winter has this little thing called the FOUNDRY which allows players to create there own quests and Dungeons, FREACKIN DUNGEONS!!! How cool is that MAJOR EDGE : NEVERWINTER
Overall/Fun NEVERWINTER- Again this is probably a little premature to declare NW over GW2 considering iv only spent 2 days in NW vs 2 months in GW but Neverwinter is a blast to play . I havent even scratched the surface of the game but the combat is just to addictive "for me" to put down.
I would suggest anyone considering Neverwinter to give the game a go ONLY if you are not stuck in the traditional MMO mindset and that goes for both themepark & sandbox which this game is neither. Neverwinter is some sort of hybrid themepark-action rpg multiplayer dungeon crawler with a quest/dungeon designer which throws in some sandbox, in a sense. |

Absolutely genius idea when it comes to factions and PVP-PVE. Finally a answer for pve'ers who want to play on a PVP server.

I haven't really played the game long enough to break down each school but i would offer these 2 suggestions when choosing.
1. What kind of Player do you want to be ? Do you want to be a murderer / outlaw type or do you want to play the hero and take down the evil doers. I Know some schools look down on murdering & evil deeds an you aquire some sort of negative points rating thingy which could prevent you from advancing your skills in your school, I think.... lol There so much learn in this game so I'm not 100% sure on this. Personally i went with the Tangmen as it is my understaning they are somewhat of a nuetral school which allows you to play a little of this & a little of that.
2. Pick the school which you think has "cool" weapons or a weapon set you woul enjoy playing, Again I like Tangmen for their Daggers & darts. |

I'm also really enjoying the game although even after a week I still am a bit confused with alot of aspects of the game but I think this is what is making the game so enjoyable , for me at least. Age of Wushu has tapped into that "Sense of discovery" that i haven't had since the first time I played a MMO.
I think the one thing this game really excells at is you feel like you are playing in a real living breathing world. |

VO in MMO's is such a complete waste of recources by Devs . MMO's are all about making your OWN epic story not listening to some lifeless hollow NPC ramble on about theirs.

So did they add any sense of speed to this game or is it still slow & lame ?

How would you feel if your MMO increased it's sub fee?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/18/12 10:27:27 AM
I'd pay 20 bucks a month if a MMO had live support from GM's who controlled multiple world bosses and NPC's live in game. I know this has been done before but I'm not talking one GM controlling a world boss ie one event a day or even every hour. I'm talking a team of GM's controlling ALOT of bosses and NPC's providing live dialogue with players on the fly 24 hours a day.

Originally posted by Laughing-man So what you are saying is this is a current day space sim? I'm confused doesn't this game take place in the future ? It may be "real" but its still not very fun to be flying a ship and have no sense of speed. The guy who is making the game referenced Star Wars a few times in one of the video's, Ships had a sense of speed in those movies.
I guess if realistic space combat is your thing , Ie moving at a snails pace then you will probably enjoy this game. To me this looks like a snooze fest, Guess I'm more of a arcade flyer so to speak, Meh to each their own i guess, I'll pass on this one. |

Why do so many flight games always lack a sense of speed when flying. Shouldn't this be the most important thing to this kind of game. After watching gameplay footgae of Star Citzen I think I'll pass, The ships look like they are moving in slow motion zzzzzz.zzzzz......zzzzzzzz

I also ran CM as a lvl 50 elementalist for the first time in story mode a few nights ago (My first GW2 dungeon run). My reaction was pretty much the complete opposite of the OP's.
At first I was like WTF is this shit?! The first golem boss must have wiped each of us in the group several times or so. It was very shocking to have a boss in a MMO 2 shot you in a low lvl dungeon(the first boss mind you). The next pull once you enter the mansion is even worse, They just throw too many elite's at you in too small of a confined area to do any sort of kiting. Our group found it much easier to just kite them outside the mansion where there is much more room to move around.
As the run went on , the entire group started to wipe less &less each pull. I think all of us without saying a word to each other kind of figured out we needed to move,Kite CC and pretty much utulize all of our skills. Its hard to break out of that WOW tank and spank mentality that we are all so use to.
I found myself as a elementalist pretty much playing a total support role during the run. I would open up with fire pull all agro and the use all my CC's abiltys (LIGHTNING static CC,ICE CC,Earth CC) kite the mobs in a circle while the rest of the group dps. When they eventually pulled agro off me i would throw out some AOE heling and go back to fire for dps.
I really enjoyed the fast paced, challenging difficulty. To be honest once you L2P your class and break out of the WOW tank & spank mentality the game really shines. Can't wait to try all the other dungeons and I really hope A-Net doesn't cave to all the whiners who want instances nerfed. |
