It's so disheartening because I love the MMO genre, but every game I play makes me just want to go back to WoW. I don't want to go back. I've spent thousands of hours there. Someone, please, any developer, please save us!

Most even? I guess you never played at the beginning. For 3 months no one could log in and it was so laggy to be the point of obscene. WoW was NOT polished at the beginning - GW1 had a much better launch than WoW.

 

Also when the Lich King come out - so many people complained I thought it was a different game

I played Vanilla WoW at the beginning and was a closed beta tester. YES, I was there - I had a 6 month sub and left because I could never get in.

I love WoW!  Sure I don't play it today and I never reached level cap.

Back in 2010 summer I played whilst listening to Blind Guardian and Ayreon.  Amazing experience. Thankful for the game and adventure.

because the games lead designers are stuck in the past and cannot come up with any new ideas. not everyone is like you though. like the OP showed with the top games, this site is definately more sandbox friendly than themepark. when i play a mmo i dont play it because its a themepark or a sandpark i play it because i think its fun(shocking idea, i know) and when i dont like it i stop playing. to say the people on this site dont do anything but complain about themepark mmo's would be crazy. you could be talking about apples and somehow WoW or swtor would get brought up. look at this topic, already multiple times diffferent people have brought up the games they hate so much. id say at least 75% of the topics on these forums have some1 posting about WoW or another themepark mmo. i dont get it when i dont like something i dont support it at all, they wont get a youtube view from me, ill change the radio station if i dont like the music, ill change the channel on tv so there data doesnt benifit at all from me. and im happy knowing they did not get any support from me. but people on this site just complain and complain and complain and complain. i swear on my mothers life someone posted along the lines, " well its better to bash a game than over hype it" that right there is the attitude AT LEAST 75% of the people have on this site. and if anyone doesnt believe me go to general discussion and see how many times a game that has nothing to do with the topic will be brought up somehow

I play video games to escape RL for a few hours and live in an alternate reality where the rules are different and repercussions for your actions are not as unforgiving as in RL....and now you want to drag RL into my escape reality?....no thanks.

Not sure what you are getting at there, but SOE never gave up with the game and kept working on it right until the end. LA were responsible mainly for the CU and NGE, and Julio Torres of LA was the main one promoting the NGE, not anyone from SOE. Then when it became aparent that NGE was a failure, LA never appeared on the forums ever again, and SOE took total control, with a small handful of devs comitted to the game above and beyond the call of duty.

If SWTOR devs had SWG NGE, I doubt we would have seen beast master, chronicles etc.They would have just given up, and spread out the content

I also get similar strong commitment from Perfect Wold with STO as well, although not as much as SWG devs, but I am not feeling the love from EA/BW with SWTOR as these 2 games.

SWTOR is a far better game than STO, more polished than SWG, but if the SWTOR devs put as much effort into SWTOR as STO devs do for STO, then I would play SWTOR over STO hands down, but they simply are not.

 

not sure what your getting at here, im talking about all these swg people who claim it was the greatest game ever made and swtor is complete trash because its not swg2. my point was for ALL THE POSTS ON THIS SITE that bash swtor and ALL THE POSTS that talk about how they miss swg and it was the greatest mmo of all time and sandbox is the only way to go, the game was never a hit. most mmo's that were out when swg was are still out today. im not saying swg was a bad game but i just hate the fact that these people have nothing better to do post all day and night about a game that was never really aimed for them. im so sick of all this sandbox talk, look at gw2 people are complaining its not social, well if theres 20 people together and none of them say a word how is that the games fault?
