well ya, I was a little confused by the meaning of his post as well, and I might have come off a bit rude lol...I just wanted to say how I think that TCoS is coming out with a lot of original stuff and I don't think comparing it to other games gives it enough justice, sorry if I came off a bit harsh... |

For one, this is nothing like GW because not all the quests are instanced, just some of the ones where you go BACK in time...hmmm, sounds pretty original to me. Also the skill deck and arena pvp will be nothing like GW. You get like 6 skills at a time in GW? Been a while since i've played...well multiply that by 6 and get TCos. The GW arenas were so simple and mundane, I couldn't stand that game very long...TCoS arenas will be much more like fps arenas, much bigger. I will agree though that there are a lot of similarities between CoH and TCos, although TCoS is going to take those similarites and make them so much better that you probably won't notice much of the same. If you just take a look at the classes you'll see that they are almost nothing like any other classes i've ever seen. Meaning the play style will be much different from AoC and GW...sorry I got carried away, I just can't wait for this game and I see a lot of uninformed posts about this game and it erks me just a little.... |

lol, i think you mean hello WoW kiddies and all those other horny 12 yr olds that had no reason to play mmos before now. Trust me, the more mature a game is, the less mature the fan base...ok, not always, but a lot of times in my experience. |

I've always wanted a game with permadeath, I've always liked the idea because it puts a little more risk into dying, when I played WoW and died it was like whatever, time for another corpse run. But I'd like to feel like if I don't try to put up a fight I'm going to lose everything. I like the idea of having a limited amount of deaths before you permanently die. There was such a game coming out, but I doubt I will ever see it finished. Trials of Ascension, it was planning on doing 100 deaths before you permanently die, it also had it where you could put your life into certain objects before dying that would having special abilities after that characters death. It all sounded amazing to me...but most people don't want that amount of risk in a game, so I don't think anything interesting like a permadeath system will ever make it big. |

Seriously, I can't believe this game is at the top of the list for upcoming games on mmorpg.com. I'm looking for a game that makes me feel something when I die, if there is no penalty whats the point of playing. Also I don't feel any risk in going into a fight I might not win. I want to feel my adrenaline rush and my heart jump out of my chest when I jump into a fight not just..."here we go again..." |

There are items that make you better that aren't usually visible as stated before, but a big point to the game is that it is completely skill based. Which to me is a big plus and it overrides the fact that gear means nothing, because I was even skeptical about that fact. I've gotten to overlook this fact just because I'm so excited about everything else the game has to offer and perhaps instead of being awed at because of your gear, maybe in this game you'll be able to put the same awe into a person by your name alone. Sounds better to me... |

I'm personally not that tired of fantasy mmo's...although I am a little tired of the uncreativity associated with the fantasy mmo's. There are many more things they could do with the fantasy, other than orcs and humans and elves. Also I am a big fan of sci-fi, I'm just waiting for one of the sci-fi games to catch my attention, so far I haven't been drawn in to any really. |

I'm still waiting for the mmo to top AC, it was one of the best gaming experiences of my life. I totally agree with the person who commented on the sounds too...the sounds of AC were awesome for some strange reason. There was a feeling to AC and even though I played WoW longer, I never even got close to the feeling of AC. I think because of its originality it added a lot. That's what I'm hoping TCOS will do for me, its got the originality of AC with new features. Man...I miss AC :( |

I found the entire game dull and not just the pve...I still don't understand why its supposed to be such a great pvp game. I never saw it, the game bored me very fast compared to other mmorpgs. But thats just me :D |

I didn't read the whole thing, but from what I did read I agree with completely. The game Trials of Ascension was seeming to go in the direction that this post is calling for, but it now seems like its going to dissolve away because of a lack of funding...I'm really sad about that, cause it actually had perma death for one...something very much avoided iin mmorpgs, but I see as something that could be really really fun. |

Perhaps not if it took the name of the movie, but if there was an mmorpg that had the setting of ancient greece that would be pretty kick ass in my opinion. |

Well, I don' t think your crazy...I think your smarter than most people in fact. You don't go for the rpg that looks the best, but the one that actually lets you have fun. I personally think one of the better mmorpgs i have played was runescape...I'll probably get a lot of crap for that, but I'm not ashamed of what I enjoyed and you shouldn't be either. MMO's are becoming more and more for a younger audience its seems to me... Also I got tired of GW a hell of a long time ago, and WoW only kept my attention for about a summer. Although I'm one of those people that don't play for the casual side of an mmo, unfortuantely im greatly outnumbered, so the only kind of game that I would enjoy would be one like ToA, one which will probably never be relased :( |

I think this is my first post ever on here, and I haven't read much of this thread, cause It's late and I didn't feel like reading 11 pages of posts...anyways, to me I think the death penalty should actually be a penalty, and more than just a few minutes of reduced stats. That is one thing that WoW lacked, the only penalty is that you have to walk really far...which I think is just a waste of time, and for people that have way too much time on their hands...it isnt a penalty. That is why I'm looking forward to ToA, permant death...theres nothing like fighting for your characters life, it puts excitment into the game and you've always have to be on your toes. I'm also thinking back to when I played Runescape way back in the day...you never lost everything, but you always lost your three best items you were carrying, which if you were smart you wouldn't lose anything good, but it still gave you something to lose. If theres nothing to lose, there's no reason to play.
