I do not care about this game one bit, I just like hearing how launch is going so I check out some of the posts when I'm bored.

From what I've been reading and this is just what I've read not how it actually is, but the majority of the complaints seem to have nothing to do with bugs or crashes, it's more with the way the game is designed, especially with the instances and such.

MMORPGs are meant to be played on PC for continual download content. Besides, if let's say...players in Age of Conan start designing mods and add-ons for the game. THe people with the console version won't be able to utilize them...at least not much.

Just like how the people who have Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion on consoles miss out on all the fancy-fun mods that are made available for players with the PC version (*er-hem* Cloud Mods, Extra Cities, Adult Content FTW).

Xbox 360 has updates all the time for different games...I doubt that it would be that hard.

For those that think the controller wouldn't work...I disagree because once you get used to a controller it can almost be easier than a pc.  Maybe menus and such could be a pain, but if it was designed right there is NO reason to "dumb" it down.

You know, if you must do instancing there is a way that would keep immersion for me...it was something that I always like about AC.

The fact that whenever there was loading you were going through a portal...no stupid static loading screens.  AC wasn't instanced, but they could still do something similar with instancing...I think it would really help to avoid breaking immersion...you still feel like your part of the world and not outside of it waiting for it to load.

Edit: Actually I guess there is still nothing you could do about multiple instances of the same area which is the main concern here, more has to do with zoning I guess...just throwing that out there even though I know it is a little off topic...sorry.

It might not be a done deal, but it should be pretty close since they ended up going for a simultaneous release in EU and US.  I don't think they would announce that happening unless they were pretty close to having a US publisher.

It is a little disappointing that they are going to use instancing, but I think the poster before is right in being optimistic.  This game probably won't be as big as AoC (although I hope it is :D) and if it does were probably only going to see instancing when the game first starts out and everyone is in the beginning area.  After that hopefully this game is made so that people will want to spread out across the world.

Then instances will probably only happen occasionally inside quarterstone.

I really doubt this is vaporware, they just released information about US publisher and release date not that long ago...but if it's not for you, it's not for you.

Ya, I've seen that and I understand that a lot will be instanced now, but he only said that dungeons and ancestral quests will be instanced and raft yards I guess, so I understand why he says a lot.  Because those are huge pieces to the game.

But I still haven't seen anywhere that talks about that sort of EQ2 instancing that was buggin the OP.

In my opinion the sounds and the animations are whats going to make this game.

The background sounds and immersion in the game are excellent, I'm absolutely blown away by every video.

And this game HAS to be as cartoony as it is, it's the only way the combat will be able to work smoothly and since it has awesome art I think its going to work.

I'm 100 percent for this game, I've been following it for so long that if it sucks I don't know what I'll be doing...more Xbox 360 I guess....

Can someone give me a link to where the devs say they are going to have this type of instancing.  All I've ever seen them say is that they are going to be using a little instancing as possible, mostly for dungeons and such.

I'm probably wrong so I just wanted to see where they said this.

They just mentioned not too long ago that they found a US publisher.

They also said that the game would now be a simultaneous release in the US and Europe in Fall of '08.

I'm guessing more news will come in the summer about exact dates and such, hopefully they won't push it back much further, I'm dying to play this game.

You should definetly do a little more research on the quest system if you are worried.

They have stated that quests will follow mulitple paths that you knowingly and unknowingly chose from. Also, from what I understand, once you fail a quest, you fail a quest. There is no picking it back up. So, the quests will be pretty dynamic, not so much a static quest grind such as WoW.

Im not sure I like that idea.  There are two kinds of players - those who adventurously try the quests without any clues, and those that wait till the answers have been posted to spoiler sites.  By making quests permanently fail you are punishing the first group and rewarding the second.  I can only think of 2 ways you could solve that problem and both are not good.  Either the quests would have to be so simple that they dont need spoiler sites, or there would have to be so many quests that it wouldnt matter if you lost some.  One is lame and the other is unfeasable since it would require infinite developer resources.

Or another option which kinda gets overlooked as that instead of having answers to the quests, the quests instead take skill to finish.  You need a good team and good teamwork to complete the quest and if you don't, well you lose.

Seeing that this is the way the rest of the game tends to be based I'm guessing this might actually be the way quests are made.

just because one game does questing as a grind does not mean that all games that try to do quest based will be grinds.   Yes, pretty much every game so far thats quest based is a grind, but that still doesn't mean anything.  I am a little disappointed that it is quest based, but if they are as dynamic as previously stated I will have no problem with it.

I agree, I caught the sound when the first video came out and I couldn't believe how annoying it was.  Sound is very important to the immersion of this game, and a repetitive noise EVERY time you get healed is going to get annoying quickly.

I'm hoping that maybe it feels different when your actually doing the healing...maybe because your concentrating on the combat you won't hear the noise so much...I guess we shall see.

Skill oriented pvp...definately what drew me into the game in the first place...

New take on a fantasy genre, not boring elves and orcs...

Doing things that have a purpose in the overall world, how much of this they will have I'm not sure...but it already seems that it will definately have more than many of the mmos out there now...

And just about everything else...lol

Oh and Leoj, did you play WoW on silver hand at one point?

No, I didn't sorry.  Never really used Leoj as my MMO name...but its just joel backwards...so i could see it being somewhat common lol.

Man...The community sure has changed since I started playing...

Housing was one of the things I always looked forward to, I thought it was one of the coolest things that an MMO had to offer.

In AC all I did was find ways to furnish my house.  I found the coolest quests...and the most memorable ones on just getting things that looked awesome on the inside of my house.  It was a place that was not only just full of junk...the stuff actually meant something...

I had to go FIND all of that stuff, and I did it.  And now I get to show it off.

It took my mind off of all the mind numbing grinding once in a while.  I can't believe how unimportant some of the posts claim ambience to be.  I think its probably the most important aspect of an MMO.  I'm not a Role Player...at all...but I want to be immersed in a game.   It keeps you interested even when there isn't any content left to go around.  No matter how much content they put into a game, it will eventually run out especially for those that speed to the end of the game as fast as possible.  So whats left? Some say PvP...but like any FPS with complete action PvP gaming its going to get boring eventually...so you gotta find something else to do...and if theres enough mystery in a game your going to find something fun even if it isn't that important.

Sorry if I got off topic...just felt like ranting a little I guess...

I have played Quake maybe 10 years, and Morrowind like 3 years. Of course, there are tons of dedicated servers for QuakeWorld TeamFotress.

I have read that XBox don't have dedicated servers, If that is true, I will go to laught.

I have never played any game...even PC games for that length of time.   So I think this depends on the person more than the game...

Plus the reason people on consoles move on to games more often is because there aren't any games like WoW...

And console gamers have lots of games that are good...compared to the PC, which myself I haven't bought a good PC game in about 2 years.
