Star Wars: The Old Republic: The Staff Roundtable Review
News Discussion « General Discussion 12/28/11 1:43:01 PM
Im with danny on this one. I am personally already done with the game...It just doesn't feel innovative enough. I don't want to play wow. there is a reason i stopped playing wow 9 months ago. It has room to grow and there are some things that can make better but right now I am looking at gw2.
Edit: If I was a mmo noobie and I tried wow and then this shortly after I know I would pick swtor over it any day. The game is good but just not for me I suppose. |

When do we know we can play?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/12/11 7:34:13 PM
I really dislike the staggered early access...Itsee the logic in it but I also hate it. Either way I think ill just play the 20th when i know my friend will be able to play. |

Anyone else bothered by the lightsaber/blaster crystal restrictions?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/12/11 3:43:23 PM
During the last beta weekend, I literally had groupmates in flashpoints who would suddenly lose their weapon. There'd be this moment where they were standing there silently, and then, innevitably 'uh, guys, I just went LS/DS I and my weapon doesn't work.'
This was the only one that seemed like a problem to me...A bit silly if you ask me. |

Another review from a longtime closed BETA player
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/23/11 12:04:40 PM
good to hear your experience with grouping. I have been in 1 beta phase and sadly it seemed like no one wanted to group. It really depressed me. One of my biggest fears with this game is that it turns out to be a solo player rpg for me. Seemed like everyone was focused on only doing quests a lone.
Also from the starting zones BW really needs to increase mob/quest item respawn rates. Camping a respawn area fro 15 minutes takes away from the fun.
I got a very similar feeling with my short weekend with the game. But I would probably rate the character creation a 4 or less. It is very basic. No innovations or anything like that from Bioware. Also it would be nice if you got to hear samples of your character's voice in some way before creating. |

Star wars: The Old Republic (EU&us) Beta on December 22

Is it just me or does it sound like a gold seller is confused on what to call swtor currency on his site..
Its credits. |

I like nvidia more. I like the prices and power that AMD has but my 2 AMD cards have broken while this geforce 9500 has been kicking for damn near 3+ years now. I also find nvidias gpu software to be much more simple and easy to navigate compared to the ati catalyst controller. |

man way to hurt my soul. The only possible better news I could have heard is that Cryptic is going to no longer make games. |

Guild wars 2 Or S.W.T.O.R which will you choose
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/14/11 5:35:14 PM
Both? gw2 is no sub and I only sub to 1 game if it worth it. If swtor ends up being as boring as I think it might ill probably spend most my gaming time in gw2. The combat system and just about everything gw2 is doing looks better than swtor other than the full voice over. |

No game that was p2p and changed to f2p is really f2p. Most mmos adopt a FDRC(free download restricted content) type of deal. I have yet to see a fair cash shop on a f2p game that doesn't limit world content in some way OR the game is blatantly pay to win.. LoL is frankly the only decent cash shop I have been around but LoL really isn't an mmo.. |

Blizzard Wants You To Join The Diablo III Beta...Maybe

Cool story bro! Thanks for the info! |

league of legends - its f2p model doesn't feel like its trolling you like most mmo f2p games do. I have spent probably 50$ its a fun game that gives a good gaming pvp experience for 20-60 mins each match. CoH - I only create champion, play with them to level 4 or so, delete and make again. the only enjoyment i get from this is character creation. f2p zero money spent dragons nest - this is more like a diablo replacment for me. It is really only fun with friends. f2p zero money spent star craft 2 - Ill play a custom game or 2 if I feel like it. Overall dissapointed with it. lotro- if I want to feel like I play wow again. f2p zero money spent. Minecraft - its fun to dig....and build things...and kill pigs and cows. Probably my best investment. |

Lets just say my christmas list went from an amd fx 8 core, am3+ motherboard, and radeon 6670 to an i5, intel mobo compatible with ivy bridge, and nvidia 550 ti.
To me it seems AMD was trying too hard to try and beat sandy instead of making real game changer ideas. APUs I believe come close but just think about how amazing they could be if they had an option with 6 cores and an intergrated gpu about as powerful as a 6800+ or something to that extent. I think amd could have taken the budget market even more AND dominated laptops if they found ways to keep something like that from overheating. |

pretty simple if you think about it a bit.
Star wars + bioware
Its like saying dune + blizzard or something to that extent. They are known names that people trust to make a quality game. Now lets see if they live up to their names. Both Bioware as a company and Star Wars as an ip.
Star wars + bioware = wow this might have a chance if any mmo does. Cryptic studios + anything = wow this doesn't have any chance no matter the ip |

So amazed this game isn't f2p yet...This game seemed to burn down faster the DCUO yet still the price tag and sub..Amazing. |

Originally posted by Jimmy_Scythe This build would not require a discrete graphics card. You can put most Radeon 6000 series graphics cards(I think the max is 6670?) into them I believe.. The APU and discrete GPU can "smart" crossfire to improve performance. Yes you could probably save money on the case, personally I have had bad experience with really cheap cases so I put the Rosewill in there because of the 2 fans and they make quality products(I even have a cheap 6 dollar gaming headset/mic from rosewill thata has lasted me 2 years now heavily gaming). |

Have you thought about the new AMD APUs? I made a little list up for you. Yes I used 1 recertified product from new egg but why not try to get a deal when you can..

This set up came to ~$321 with shipping for me. It is AMDs best APU with awesome intergrated graphics esentically giving you 4 cores + AMD Radeon HD 6550 for 139$. If there was anything I would improve on this it would be maybe a more known power supply and maybe some better RAM.
Edit: woops looks like the hard drive is IDE haha. well bump the price up another 20 or so for a low priced sata. |

Cryptic
That is all that needs to be said about the game. It will be horrible...
Edit: Seriously how do cryptic get good ips like this and star trek? They make horrible games that really only provide nice character creation. The world, quests, and new content are just vomited out and they try to call them AAA MMOs. |

Maybe try spiral knights? |

DC Universe Online: Fight for the Light Mini-Review
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/05/11 12:46:05 AM
Yeah DCUO was failed to lose just being a SONY title. You reached end level far too quickly with almost nothing to do but grinding dungeons, the pvp exploits weren't hotfixed and ruined it. They are also not active on the forums basically at all. One thing that I really appreciate is having contact or some words from someone actually making the game. Riot games does this the best probably and because of how good their PR and repor is with the community things(read as disasters) seems to go down a bit more smoothly. Blizzard is also ok in this department to the point they keep the forum community content for the most part. |
