 I don't get that people DON'T understand how this is the most hyped game. All you need to do is look at what the IP is and who is making it.

Its a fact that people love or greatly enjoy the star wars universe (obviously some hate it). Not only is this a known IP but the people making it, Bioware, are know so far as people that made amazing RPGs and usually for the fun, story, and quality they provide. I know a lot of people that will simply try this game because its a Bioware game.

 I have been as dissappoited as much as anyone with 2009. I have tried probably every AAA mmo that has come out and nothing has really gotten me addicted sadly. I had honestly lost all faith until the news that this game was being made and by who was making it. It very well could be false hope but I know this will probably be the only MMO of 2010- 2011 (whenever it comes out) that i will be buying the day of.

 Seems to me Cryptic is going the same way as NcSoft. AKA teams that make "good looking games" and amazing "promises" but it just turns out to be hollow shell of what it could be because of a lacking end game content and a boring leveling system. Cryptic seems to have a trend of pushing games out far before anything is made for people to do. CoX, to me, was a joke because of the quests. It was just "oh noes gear robots stole some poison! kill them all and click a poison thing!". 

I will give credit to Cryptic though for their character customization but thats about it. If blizzard, for example, takes that from Cryptic(lets face it blizzard are masters of taking stuff thats innovative or fun and throwing it into wow under a new name)  in whatever their new MMO is good luck to Cryptic in the future.

 I like the cartoonish style personally. It may not be to some but I think it keeps a game that you play longer fresh looking (or not look terribly dated) like wow.

I am all for this. Then smug idiots like Ichben could flock together and smell their farts on one sever and i can spam trade chat with ANAL [blood strike] or Murlokinator: Salvation and no one will care. Please take your big brain to it...While we are at it lets have 21 and over servers; make people fax an ID to blizzard to have access to the server. idiot.

for this game i am predicting AoC like sells box numbers and as the dust settles 600k+ subs after some months from wow people bored of wow, old republic fans, and Star Wars fans and the other various others that may come. I know ill be there to try it.

Actually this game feels more like an Age of Conan to me but with the tortage quest line through the entire game. The whole 4th pillar thing they keep preaching about is a little unsettling because I really didn’t like tortage in AoC. But I did like the game once I was out of that area. Just the feeling I am personally getting. Either way I could care less. I liked wow, I love star wars, and so this is instant win for me if it IS the same. Sadly if this game fails for me the only game I can even say I’d be willing to buy without a trial will be blizzards unannounced MMO because for me, SW:KOR would be the last straw in a string of titles that personally disappointed me greatly. Crossing my fingers that it’s a great game!

Thanks for the info. I am sure ill try plenty of the classes so I can get a taste for one of them. Just on paper the guardian looked like it suited my wants. I will def try the dark templar as well, thanks for the suggestion. I cant wait to get my feet wet! :D or bloody? :p

Thanks for the info Deadman, I am very excited to start playing but it probably won’t be until sometime tomorrow for me. I decided to buy from Direct2drive and its going splendidly slow! But hey 13 GB not like it’s going to be patching in 30 mins. Very good news from you also about the guardian. I love to play the tank so I thought that class would be perfect for me. Like many it seems I’ve become bored with my main game (wow) and I have been looking for something else. I played EVE, war, atlantica, and WoW trying to replace my mmo fetish but never gave AoC a try, mainly because my old rig couldn’t handle it. Now I have a decent system and I’ve been hearing very positive things from people on this forum and other various places with very "bad" trolls that can’t seem to put up a fight against the players that are currently playing and saying its a blast. So in short, you've swayed me to try it. I’ll get to my point now anyway...

I am not that into pvp. From what I hear that is something good for me because aoc pve is very good apparently. I was wondering what pve server I should roll on and if possible what class to play. I like to tank so I was thinking a guardian. I really have no RL friends that play AoC so ill be on my own really. Would it be wiser to roll a different class for the farming/Over poweredness to help me on my way or is it fine to level what I wish?

maybe i am of a different breed of wow players but because of wow i have tried...CoX, Lort, Eve, War, countless free MMOs, ext.. WoW opened my eyes to the MMO community so i have no problem with wow.

I can personally look passed the art style (which im not a fan of at all) and from what ive seen, this game looks like a wow clone with a new skin, super shiny elf graphics, mixed with Final Fantasty or L2. Im not sure if you can say ive done my "homework" as people call it but i am not impressed as of yet buy this game. So to answer the OPs question - its VERY easy to call Aion "just another Asian grinder" because it "looks" just like one. Maybe your right and its super fun. ill play it i have no bias on what companies make games and i dont go "blah blah blah i hate EA/SOE/blizzard because they made a game". Also about all the people you quoted..i dont think thats gunna sway anyone. i could are less about what mmorpg, the escapist , MMOsite, editors have to say about it really. Maybe im totally right or maybe im gunna be eating my words but its just very VERY easy to catagorize it.

this game...without any information about it sounds like it could hurt wow depending on how graphically demanding it is. Bioware + their first mmo + star wars = blizzard + warcraft. If they can make a solid polished game they will get big numbers just for the star wars factor. If its anything like KOTOR 1-2 on the console system but adapted to a computer it will be amazing. I just hope they make it atleast wow or sandbox-ish in size. I just want a large world or worlds to travel to...tomorrow is judgement day..

worst patch ever. everything is unbalanced. All i hear is QQ its balanced at 80! yeah but wtf about the 70-79 stages. stupid worthlessness. lol

good about time the laziest class in the game got nurfed. sorry no more shadow bolt spam. But dont expect much to chage for you. retadins are gunna get nurfed and warriors can only use bladestorm every 1.5 mins. rogues...are just rogues. Locks are fine especially the ones that are smart enough to grab SL.

i dont like comparisons. i think money is going to become a larger issue in WAR once people are paying 20-40g for a piece of renown gear. War wins in pvp and Wow in pve. the more polish? wow. its had more time so yeah. I find both games fun. play one if you want to.
