This is not a Steam specific issue. Almost any online game (especially MMORPGs) will ban your account if you dispute or issue a chargeback. The policy sucks but it's to protect them. Every time someone does something like this they have to not only pay you back the money but also a little extra (don't know how much exactly) to paypal or something along those lines.

That's just the way it is currently, I think it's something you have to accept and be aware of. Imo you should have just been patient and tried to resolve it with valve and get in phone contact with them if possible.

Disputing the transaction (even if you're in the right and there was a legitimate problem like in the OPs situation) will get your account permanently banned in almost every online game. Taking this action should be a last resort. I believe you have around 30-60 days from the purchase date to issue a chargeback. If there's a day left until you can't do it anymore you either take the loss or go for the chargeback and almost assuredly get banned.

It sucks but there's not much you can do about it I don't think.

No online service is perfect. Even if you buy your games off of GoG or another site it still doesn't guarantee you access to your games if they shut down. Yes you can download and play the games without the hassle(?) of logging into anything but if you don't store the games on a hard drive or CDs (or you lose them or it gets corrupted) and GoG goes out of business you're still screwed and have no access to the games you bought. Steam claims that IF it should ever go out of business it will allow everyone to download everything from their library. And if I were to ever get banned, or Steam goes out of business and I have no way to "legally" access everything I've already paid for I have no issues getting them elsewhere.

They're skipping 9 and going directly to 10.

Just google it there are plenty of articles about it.

I only played the beginning theme park part and didn’t even finish it. So this review will not cover the other parts of pvp and raiding and such.

This review is basically pointless then...

Everyone on this site knows the game starts off slow, basically treats the player like they have never stepped foot in an MMO before.

Also there isn't "Raiding" like you think.

You basically did not even play Archeage, and that's fine, we all know the early game is just a tutorial and not that exciting. But it is necessary because you will never feel overwhelmed. Everything is introduced at the right time and makes you feel confident upon hitting 30 and venturing into the PvP zones.

This shouldn't be called a review, mostly a first impression, and that is it.

Yea, I stopped reading after that sentence. I figure if OP's not gonna play the whole game why should I read the whole "review"?

If the game designers/developers aren't going to put in the effort to grab your attention as soon as possible with the gameplay and introduce you to the "fun" stuff then why should I or anyone continue to play the game? You can't expect players to play tens of hours of a game they are not enjoying for the promise or hope that it's supposedly going to get better 50 hours in or however long it takes.

The "review" is entirely valid. If you want to consider it a first impressions then so-be-it. What you call it is more or less irrelevant imo, you take it for what it is to you and that's it.

If you don't want to create a macro just go sit down in the courthouse. You can afk and not get kicked.

This is probably the only way to afk without using any 3rd party programs or macros. The wonderful thing is, people that have those seats are selling them for gold! Amazing how an MMO turned "sitting down in a chair" into something profitable!

That's how you know your game designers have succeeded in creating a compelling and fun experience right?

Yep. If I need to do something outside of the game for a while I'll just leave the game on, don't really see why not. Doesn't make much sense not to seeing as how incredibly stingy they are with giving you labor points and how incredibly greedy they are with taking them away from you when you want to do anything.

Wasn't very good in closed beta. It has virtually nothing to do with FEAR and it doesn't even play like it at all. The shooting and weapons all feel like generic FPS weapons and there were some ridiculously OP things in there.

The game was pretty fun but it was plagued by MANY game breaking bugs and other minor issues that affected gameplay negatively. Can't say I'd recommend the game at all from my experiences with it in CB and this is not even looking at the cash shop stuff. Don't expect much if you do decide to try it, especially if you're a fan of the FEAR franchise.

It is a result of their incredibly poor design decisions. The labor points (and all the features surrounding the use of labor points) I think being the biggest factor in leading players to afk.

Not being able to recover them while offline makes absolutely no sense to me and encourages players to stay afk in-game. To be completely honest I think they just assumed everyone would spend money on those potions to recover them rather than afk, otherwise I can't explain this decision in any way.

They are obviously just estimates, probably based on how long players stay in game and averaged or something. The times could go down drastically if many people DC or just log out at the same time for whatever reason.

But I dunno, either way it's incredibly off-putting seeing even an hour queue times. Reminds me of when TERA went f2p, that's the only time in recent memory (over the past 10 or so years) that I recall ever having to wait in a queue.

I'm not too bothered by it but I'm not one of the people who are incredibly hyped about the game so I'll likely wait a week or so until everything dies down. Or just wake up early. There weren't any queues a few hours ago on the NA servers.

When you are on forums or a game you are technically on someone else's property. Therefore you are not allowed to say whatever the hell you want and claim freedom of speech, it doesn't work like that.

If you were to go into a store and start yelling, swearing, and being generally obnoxious they have every right to kick you out of there.

People should actually read the amendments before trying to claim one of theirs is being violated because clearly the vast majority of people spouting that nonsense don't even know what it means and just assumes you can say anything you want wherever you want.

Was the "crime" reported to the officials?

Who exactly polices the internet?  I am just wondering who they would call and report it to?

Good question.

I tried to google cybercrime jurisdiction, but nothing definitive came back.

No one organization polices the internet, the internet is owned by everyone and no one. For the US you can just report it to the fbi and they will likely take care of it, but there is also the IC3:

Since different organizations provide internet across each continent the people you would contact is different. But since Trion I'm assuming is in the US, they'd just go to the fbi to deal with it if they really wanted to.

Like many people mentioned, dealing with ddos attacks can be incredibly costly and ultimately not worth it since it typically doesn't go on for very long and the extra hardware upgrades will go to waste once the attack is over. It's the same as companies usually not being prepared to handle a large influx of people on launch, they don't want to buy all the extra hardware because they know the traffic will die down to a more reasonable level after the first week or so.

TRION aint ready for a seat at the big people table.

Okay indulge me... Whom is sat at this "big people table"?

Obviously Blizzard since no one really comes close to them.

People stopped caring is what happened.

In the past when MMORPGs were a relatively "new" thing it was something incredible and unheard of to be playing with tens of people all on one screen and knowing there are hundreds (or thousands total) playing at the same time in the same world.

People got over that and no longer care anymore for various reasons. Personally I don't care because it typically doesn't affect the game in any significant way at all. Worlds are not dynamic and almost never change and players can't change the world either in a meaningful way. You don't interact with a vast majority of the players, they're just there to be ignored (they hold little to no importance overall in the grand scheme of things) or on occasion make a trade with if there's no auction house (or to be invited to a group if what you're trying to do requires one).

Someone simply needs to redefine "MMORPG" or create one in a way where the amount of players present play a significant role in the game and its evolution/progression. Far too many features are implemented in a half-assed manner in MMORPGs these days and not a lot of care or innovation is happening in the genre which is why I think it has become very stale. Right now the "Massive" for me refers more to the world rather than the amount of players. Until a large amount of players actually mean something it's not going to bother me if an online game markets itself as an MMORPG, it's simply far easier to say they're an MMORPG rather than an "online game" or something of the sort because people typically search for MMOs or MMORPGs. Even from a search engine standpoint it's likely a much better decision to label yourself that even if you aren't.

Don't think so. It doesn't even let me update the game, it thinks I'm trying to play it.

The quote is obviously aimed at people who have never played MMOs or online games because I think everyone knows that already - that your experience early game may not be the same as late game or a year or two down the line.

With that said, it makes me feel like they know their game isn't as compelling and interesting as it should be to keep people playing long enough to get to the "good" stuff. It's an extremely poor and tired excuse: "oh, but just wait til late game! that's where the fun really begins!"

How 'bout no? Make your game fun the entire way through. It shouldn't be a chore or intentionally boring because you think it has to be in order for people to have fun later when you actually put in some effort into making it interesting 20-40+ in. You're supposed to hook people with all the interesting and fun stuff you have to offer asap then innovate and improve as time goes on.

I likely wont be buying it at all, certainly not on launch. I don't see why I should. I have the borderlands games, warframe, defiance, and maybe some firefall. I personally don't see what destiny is doing differently enough to justify spending 50-60 dollars.

I would obviously start with TERA first since it's f2p... there's nothing to lose assuming you don't have download caps where you are since it's like 30-40gb or some crap.

I only played ESO during the beta and found the gameplay incredibly dull and boring. And no I didn't get very far, maybe level 10 or something.

If you play TERA and like the combat then you should try to stick with it for a while until you start doing instanced dungeons, if you don't like the combat and don't like any of the classes there's no reason to stick with TERA because the combat is pretty much all it has going for it imo.

Very odd game from my experience with it in CB. To be honest it doesn't feel like Silkroad at all. You level very quickly, do a lot of damage (you start off doing thousands of damage for some reason, but enemies also have a lot of HP, as do you), tons of quests that also level you up quickly. This may not sound bad but the game felt very shallow and like they wanted to make you feel special by immediately starting you off doing seemingly a lot of damage in comparison to most other games and MMOs.

I dunno, maybe it wasn't bad, and I probably didn't play it long enough to form a solid opinion but I just wasn't feeling it. Some of the skills were VERY poorly translated and had odd characters mixed in so that didn't help with anything. I'll still check it out on release as Silkroad was one of my favorite MMOs of all time.

Tried to play this again on multiple occasions and could never get it to work properly. Maybe I'll give it another shot at one point. I loved the idea behind the game, especially a much "darker"/horror themed MMO, but as someone mentioned... the grind was just way too much.!/cnvvQS/

It's not too bad. For me it typically takes from 4-8 seconds.

It's obviously a very very old website. I'm sure there have been improvements to it over the years but I'm not sure how much. They're still using the spry panels and I'm pretty sure those are deprecated.

Most of the loading is probably coming from all the images used everywhere.

Using Chrome, mmobomb actually loads about a second faster but from the same website here:!/djoPkQ/ it says the load time is wayyyy faster (1.76) than (5.45 to 8.0). Mmohuts:!/eItot2/ is about a 3.4

Overall though, it varies a lot. Sometimes the mmorpg homepage loads in about 1.5-4 seconds for me (just counting), mmobomb can take up to 3-4, mmohuts also around 1 second or less.

I'm not sure if there's any problem with the mmorpg site in comparison to other similar sites. When doing things like clicking on reply, or edit, it can take quite a while to load everything properly.

You can also compare or analyze using other sites too like this one: They give a lot of good tips on how you can optimize like combining certain images into a sprite sheet, minifying the css and just generally optimizing images.

That means absolutely nothing. Borderlands had the same pitch of "a bajillionty" possible gun combinations.

That's nice... but only a small handful are interesting in any way, and a smaller handful end up being viable end-game.

These kinds of statements don't do absolutely anything to make me more interested, in fact it makes me less interested because it tells me they have nothing better to tell us beyond these meaningless "facts."

I've played plenty of games that utilized procedural generation so I'm not one of the people who foams at the mouth when hearing things like this. If they can actually make it interesting and somehow give each place a unique feel (fleshed out cultures and morals, different tech levels, different religions and political systems, etc...), then they'll have my respect. It's likely going to end up being very shallow but we'll see when it's actually released. Till then, my feelings about it are simply "meh."

Does anyone have anymore information on what the changes are, if any? Either no one (sites like mmorpg that cover news) seems to know or they aren't saying for whatever reason.

I read that free to play players will still be restricted, just not as much as previously. Someone said a 30% exp penalty and reduced drop rates and you don't get any bonus exp for  future characters or whatever (can't remember the exact mechanics). Aside from that any new zones that will be released wont be accessible to free to play players, at least not immediately.

Have there been any REAL changes to wakfu or is this just to get them more publicity and pretend it's a new game? The quote and link in the OP don't provide any information what-so-ever about this "open beta" or any changes to the game.
