I think I would have to agree with you on 4gb for the average PC user/gamer. The only game I wasn't able to run well was Firefall and that left only 100mb (yes mb) of free ram. It would often freeze and even started crashing with all the new stuff they added.

If I had just 1 more gb of ram I would have been able to run it fine I think, and no other game has really pushed my ram THAT far. I typically had 500mb remaining on average for higher end games.

Not really sure... Those charts are extremely hard for me to read and make sense of but I'm not too surprised.

I ran my PC with only 3gb of ram for the past 5+ years and I have never had issues with running out of ram so I never upgraded (until recently with the sales, I figured why not and got 8gb).

You have to think about how that poll was taken. Was it prominently featured on their website? Was it somewhere obscure where not many people saw it? What kind of people would even be interested in participating in the poll?

It's a game development community so most likely gamers but which kind? The super hardcore ones or the average person who maybe is more casual and not an enthusiast? In fact how large was the pool these stats were taken from? It looks like they used their "web player" to gather this data which I'm ASSUMING means it probably came from flash sites like kongregate... You don't need much ram to run those games.

Confused on about several aspects of the review... I have no idea how "value" was even rated, that doesn't make any sense. They are essentially complaining that it's not a pay to win game...? Therefore 5/10? Makes no sense. The only thing I'd agree with about being expensive is some of the hero mechs but you don't need to buy them to succeed.

Rest of the review is hit and miss for me. I do think the game deserves an average rating (4-6/10 depending on how harsh or lenient) but I think it was given its rating for really odd and perhaps wrong reasons... If you're reading about MWO for the first time I'd suggest reading or watching some other reviews (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsHeZoyMu9Y) to get a better idea of what the game is actually like. This review spent far too much time focusing on mostly irrelevant things. Oh no there's no tutorial *complain about UI*, oh no the UI is hard to use, oh no cash shop is expensive *insert more UI complaints*, blah blah blah. Needed to be more concise and focus on what everyone wants to know, which is combat. (The first two responses to this thread are spot on, by the way)

The point where I gave up reading (unfortunately it was close to the end of the review anyway...) was: "Each ‘Mech class has a definite role to play, making battlefield combat a true team-play affair."

When did this person write this review? Half a year ago or more and just posted it up now? Because that's completely wrong. They've dumbed the game down so much that roles have become irrelevant, everyone uses the same exact builds for the most part.

And no, this is not an MMO. If you consider this a MMO then EVERY single game with any online features is now considered an MMO... There's nothing massive about 10 man battles.

Several other MMOs have done the same and similar things. Imo this is more geared towards current/older players who have gotten to 60 and maybe just don't feel like taking the time to level up another character again. I sure don't feel like it. It's really not as crazy as it seems, it's just one character, on one server, that's level 58 with average gear. I don't know if this is going to work how they intend, personally I think people might still be undergeared with whatever stuff they're giving you which could detract from the experience. Maybe unlikely since I'm sure they've tested it out (would hope so) to ensure it's playable but even so, you will not get any crystals or glyphs or money which will be a problem for new players.

The other thing is that a friend of mine plays on the PvP server, I have a few characters there but not maxed. I never felt like leveling up another character there solo so this gives me the perfect opportunity to just jump in, put in a little time and I'm ready to go do end game stuff with them. It's basically a free server transfer without the items I've accumulated on the PvE server, which is fine by me.

Anyone who hasn't played TERA, you may as well create an account just for the free character. You have until September 22 11:59pm PST to create a character with the format name.Levelup to get the level 58. September 23 is when that character will be bumped up to 58. I suggest at least playing with that character until then so you can get accustomed with the game, how things work, get a feel for the skills and all that stuff. At least make it through the intro island otherwise you're probably going to be extremely lost.

Tbh I'd consider this more of the top 5 sexualized games rather than adult. Yes, these are not exactly suited for children's consumption and do fall into more of an adult category but to call them adult I feel like is... too broad of a categorization or oversimplification.

I think the only one on that list that I would even consider to coming close to being "adult" is Age of Conan but even that is a bit underwhelming. The intro was cringe worthy at how blatantly sexualized the situation was with the captured woman and it felt like that IS the only reason they did it, to sexualize it and be like "hey guys, hey look, we're for adults cause skimpy captured women!" It also didn't help that after you rescue her she seemed to be perfectly okay with having sex with you, at least it felt heavily implied that that is what was going on with her comments and tone.

Still waiting for a real adult MMO that isn't purely about boobs and butts and isn't complete garbage.

It's a shame. Real lucky that no one on the development of the game was laid off but I enjoyed a lot of their videos on Stage 5 TV too. Anytime anyone on game development companies gets laid off because of financial issues really sucks. They had a pretty high production quality to most of them too, real shame.

Figured I would back up Warframe. I have well over 300 hours spent on it. If you do like shooting games it's a pretty good choice, I wouldn't really consider it an MMO personally as you're never with more than 4 people (the max for missions, excluding clan halls which are just meeting areas really) but it's good none-the-less. They are also beginning to focus more on story and lore. It's not fully in yet as of now but I believe they said they will be beginning to focus more on it from update 10 onwards (which just happened).

The developers are great people and they do a live stream every once in a while (maybe bi weekly or once a month? don't remember) to update all the fans about what's coming. It's free to play and you can get absolutely "everything" in-game just by playing aside from cosmetic items. Personally I found their cash shop to be extremely pricey for almost every single thing in there so I haven't bought anything despite spending the 100 or 150 dollars on the masters founder pack. Worth looking at if you like shooting games. Also worth mentioning that enemies get really really bullet spongey later on, especially some bosses so you might be forced to group up with other people (especially in defense missions), but I don't think you'll have any issues with that. Honestly I think you would enjoy it far more if you find a handful of people to play with who have similar play styles. A lot of people like to rush through levels, some people like to explore and loot everything. Doesn't work too well when there is a team consisting of both these types of people.

Another MMO (an actual MMO) you may like if you're interested in playing shooting ones is Firefall. Developers are very active on forums and with updates. They will remove and redo entire features of the game if they see people are not enjoying it since it still is in beta. I'm just glad they are willing to put in that much work to try and create a good game. It's pretty solo friendly but I think it's starting to go more towards "get a group of people to enjoy the better content." You can switch from first to third person quickly depending on what you prefer. Both Firefall and Warframe sort of rely on you being pretty good at shooting games if you want to do decently.

These are the only two MMOs I've spent money on (ok well excluding TERA, but it was cheap) within the past 8 or so years, so if you like shooting games and are pretty good at them these are worth looking into. I believe Firefall is getting an auction house soon too (I haven't played it in several months since my computer doesn't like it anymore, it throws up every time I try to play it) if it isn't already in there.

Alka, you're rad - going to check out these videos shortly. Thanks for taking the time to find them! <3

Yep, no worries. Again about Rift, don't write it off because of my comments since I really didn't play it long, didn't really give it a chance since it just wasn't what I was looking for at the time. For all I know you could love it especially because of the similarity between it and WoW.

Aion might be another one you'd be interested in although my brother has told me it gets very grindy later on, especially with upgrading gear and crafting (though that's the case in most MMOs anyways). Can't say too much bad about it, it seems like a solid MMO and from what I have seen it is getting updates pretty consistently so it must be doing well. I do know they made leveling much much easier and less tedious from when I played it so that's kind of a plus. The one thing I think you may not like about it is that it seems to be very PvP oriented, especially end game. I'm not huge into PvP so I've never bothered with it in Aion but from what my brother has told me almost all of the best gear is gained through PvP.

When did RIFT go f2p? I'm thrilled to hear it, as that was the one I was going to switch to after WoW before I got sidetracked with Skyrim. I've seen TERA compared to RIFT a few times, but would you say the latter is the superior game?

Personally I don't think Rift is anything like TERA. I didn't play Rift very long but to me personally, the movement and combat felt sort of clunky and unresponsive. The battle systems couldn't be anymore different. Rift has the more traditional of target and press hotkeys while TERA has the more action-y type of combat where it's basically the same but you are able to dodge, block, and get out of the way of monster attacks. Normally in the traditional MMOs when you run away monsters still hit you even from quite a distance, not so much in TERA. Again I didn't play Rift enough to be able to really judge it, that's just really my first impressions. I definitely didn't get far enough into it to craft and do all of the end game stuff, maybe I will go back and check it out again. TERA is good if you wanna try something different, the download is quite large though, I believe 20-25gb total so be prepared for that. First impressions for TERA after the f2p change http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUStlCYLink combat starts around 4:30. Around 24:10 he's fighting one of the tougher monsters meant for multiple people which shows off the whole dodging and aiming aspect of the game.

As for Eden Eternal, the anime/chibi style doesn't really change the game much itself. The biggest difference from WoW is the whole class advancement system probably but I'm sure you've played other games with similar types of features. In WoW you really only have one class and that's it, in Eden Eternal one character can be every class if you want, just only one at a time. The combat is also more towards the traditional type of MMO where you just target something and press hotkeys to attack. The combat isn't much different from what you're probably used to but I found it to be more exciting than WoW. The whole style is very colorful and vibrant so if you like that, it's a plus. You can check out a first impressions video from MMOHuts here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_wAvHYBTEI Just be aware that it is a first impressions from closed beta so a lot of things might be different. For one you can preview all classes on character creation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbl3QbOwgiM This also gives you a pretty good idea of what to expect. Don't expect you to watch both as they're pretty long. (pets also seem to be extremely powerful from what I've found, it basically does more damage than my own character which is kind of crazy).

If you want a single player MMO then pick up "Skyrim Legendary Edition". It is a single player MMO. I was in the same boat as you looking for a MMO and that made me more than happy, it's a great game.

I hope you're not serious about thinking Skyrim is a "Single Player MMO"...

It's an RPG, not an MMO.  MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online

The way the game plays it feels like a single player MMO, I would completely agree with Blazer on that... I felt like I was playing an MMO without the rest of the people.

Eden Eternal is a MMO I recently played for quite a while, it seems to have a lot of what you listed that you like.

The game starts off pretty easy and basic but down the road it gets much much more complex with all sorts of crafting. You may like this. Guilds can buy their own towns, purchase and upgrade merchants that sell better stuff, get guild buffs, etc... lots and lots of features. It is in an anime/chibi style if you like or don't like that. The class system is similar to Ragnarok Online mixed with some Final Fantasy games.

You have a class advancement path (thief -> rogue -> ninja -> whatever) but to unlock certain classes you need to have leveled other classes up to a specific level (ex: for a samurai you need warrior 55 and thief 55, this may not be the actual requirement I'm just making it up for an example). You can change your class at ANY time, you are not locked in. Each class levels up separately. You can have a level 5 mage and a level 50 warrior.

(one of my favorite things is it keeps your gear loadout for each type of class so you don't have to carry around your equipment for every class, it remembers what you had equipped and will automatically switch to that gear when you change classes, weapons are the only exception, you have to change those yourself. It also remembers your hotkey setups for each class, this is also fantastic. These are minor but to me it's one of those features where if it wasn't there, it would make the game extremely tedious and annoying so I'm glad they had the foresight to add them).

Combat is pretty fun, dungeons at later levels can be very difficult solo but mostly possible depending on your class.

I am hesitant to suggest TERA online only because I feel it has probably one of the worst crafting systems I've ever experienced. They made the gathering the materials part fun and rewarding by giving you buffs for every time you collect something but the actual crafting is the most boring and odd system I've ever seen. It feels completely pointless and unrewarding. The only time you'll probably need to craft stuff is end game, otherwise it's just not worth it. Combat is great if you don't like auto targeting (click on an enemy and go through your hotkeys). If you do prefer combat like WoW you may not like this due to having to aim your hits and spells (most of them). Again very fun and depending on how good you are you can solo most things but it's much much faster and efficient with a few other friends.

All you can say is that you didn't feel like daredevil and reiterate that it's a piece of crap 10 times wording it slightly differently each time?

Great criticisms. Why even bother making this thread? It's not even remotely constructive. I don't know what phone you use to play games but I call bullshit on that. The chances of finding a decent game on mobile devices (even almost as good as marvel heroes) is nearly, if not completely, impossible.

The game is far from great, and it's far from bad.

If you're referring to the fact that they use blocks to build the world, that is not an artstyle. Furthermore it's in alpha so there's plenty of time for them to do more with the actual textures on the blocks in the future.

What a joke of a reason to put Scarlet Blade as the number two worst game of 2013, even stating that if it was a "masterpiece" in various areas you'd still put it up there just because of their design decision. As far as I'm concerned you have zero credibility as a reviewer (if you are one) because of that extremely flawed logic.

Great so lets assume a game revolutionizes various aspects of MMOs, changes lots of things and is generally a vast improvement over what we've had in the past. If it presents itself in the way Scarlet Blade did, apparently it will nearly be THE worst game of the year (so far) to you. I don't even have words to describe how irrational that is. You don't like the way the game is presented, fantastic, then don't support it and don't recommend it to anyone but to say it is better or worse than other games without having even PLAYED it? Really? And even if you did it wouldn't even matter because you already stated it would have had zero affect on your opinion of how "good" the game is.

Scarlet Blade does none of the things mentioned above, it doesn't revolutionize anything (not that it has to) or change anything for the better. To me it's a crappy, boring, pretty dull and generic game. The only thing I can say I enjoyed about it were the graphics, mostly from spell effects, and you don't get all too many. At least I can say why it's a crappy game instead of making up some morality bullshit as an excuse for not playing it while still insisting it's one of the worst games just because I disagree with their approach.

That was probably one of the funnier parts, but I enjoyed the entire thing. Definitely his reactions at the character selection.
It's no more misleading than commercials saying their product is the best/most affordable/blablabla. If someone says it's their most anticipated game of 2013 then it is, you may not agree with that but that's irrelevant.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhAflSN_AB8

Check it out, pretty hilarious imo.

Just to throw this out there I played it til about level 15 or 20 as a shadow walker. I liked the skill graphics and animations. I am a pretty lazy gamer who hates backtracking so I appreciated the instant quest stuff and auto run unlike the person in the video. Aside from that though I can't say I really liked anything else. I'm all for hot cg boobs 'n butts but it was just too much. I wanted some badass armor and I don't think I even got any noticably different from the very beginning lingerie you start out with. After 20 levels with no major "upgrades" to my character visually or in any way, I got bored and stopped. Progression is way too slow and boring, not that I even expected much out of the game to begin with.

It's no different than declaring something is game of the year. Typically there is nothing to decisively say this one game is "game of the year", whatever that even means...

Anyone can say something is game of the year, anyone can say something is the most anticipated, just like all products say they're the best.

If youre not used to it by now, I dont know what to tell you.

Nothing wrong with regular porn, but this game is for pedophiles...

is there little half naked children in it?

all ive seen are legal looking women.

Really? yeah thats a face of an 18 year old women, yeah Ok suuure lol, perverts I tell ya, perverts lol

Known fact that Asians stop aging at 18. You can be 50 and still look 18.

(point being they can look way younger than they are, 'least from my experiences)

i dont dissagree with anything that was said here exept one very key point,

this game is not catering to children ITS A MATURE RTED GAME., sorry but lets be honest here most games havent been made with kids as a primary audence for a long time.

now that aside ya im not really for this game. for alot of reason

Yeah but the rating is useless, I remember when I was a kid I use to con my mother into letting me buy and rent r rated movies and games, well the games at that time didn't have ratings but you know what  I mean.

Kids will find a way to play, nowdays we download everything anyways, all that stop a kid is a age verification, how many under aged kids just input "Yes" I am over the age of 18, hell I cought my 13 year old son watching porn on his I phone  few weeks ago lol

That's not the developer's fault. They added a rating and parents should be monitoring what their kids are doing to decide what is and isn't appropriate for their maturity level.

-----------

Will boobs and more than half naked women attract younger kids? Duh, so what? There's nothing stopping those same kids from just looking at porn since there is no way to verify their age on the internet for mature content. You just agree you're over 18 and that's good enough.

People need to stop complaining about mature content in them (blood, nudity, violence, whatever) because kids might get their hands on them and be exposed to it. It's the parents' job to be responsible, if they're not they have no right to complain that their kid played this game or watched something questionable or anything. They need to learn to take some responsibility for their parenting (or lack of).

For the record I thought the game was boring. I'm all for looking at sexy and attractive women but when a game leaves practically nothing to the imagination it just becomes boring to me. Voice acting as you'd expect is very bad which compounds the problem with the horrible, horrible dialogue, not that anyone would download this game for the previous things mentioned. Some of the dialogue was amusing because of how bad it was though, couldn't help laughing or smiling, but all in all lets see how long this game lasts. I didn't find anything interesting to keep me playing it.
