Keeping all of my accounts subbed.
Um...didn't we just do the best MMORPG of 2014?

That would be a big mistake IMO.

How would I feel? Shit on. That would be the absolute worst approach they could take IMO.

Scale UP!

Never ever EVER scale DOWN!  All feeling of progression: LOST!  Oblivion rat-scaling syndrome all over again!

Actually, don't do either, just add a mentor group system.

As of yesterday, I did not think so. Today, I am starting to feel there has been some amount of deception from ZOS. DMKano has said that there was an intention for b2p from the start based on hearsay information from a friend.

However, I now remember getting an item in game in April 2014 which I now believe was a placeholder xp potion.

It was called Tonic of Accelerated Time.

There were other such buff potions (which didn't work) in the game as quest rewards. Many games (like GW2) give you boost items to let players know they exist and that they can get more in the cash shop.

These items were later removed from ESO, but they were in the game at launch.

Here is a thread from the official forums:

To me this is evidence of deception about their intention to maintain a sub model.

Do you think ZOS lied?

Anyone who believes that a AAA MMO would go into production let alone launch without a non-sub-model contingency plan is living in a fantasy world.

They have had this plan since 2007, it was always just a question of whether they would need it.

i rememebr skyrim has 17 million players that purchased skyrim where did those players go?

elder scroll is the biggest ip. just where did those 17 million skyrim players go?

in fact the total purchases on the elder scrolls ip alone is 30 million worldwide. skyrim sold more then those older elder scrolls titles alone. where did those millions of players go????

80% of those purchases are on consoles. So in all likelihood, they are waiting for the console release.

Haha, this is so good, so many people are going to be raging about this.

It's going to be crickets for most of them for a while.

On a side note, I wonder how the cash-to-crown conversion rate is going to be.

1$=100 crowns it seems, based on 1500 crowns per month for a 15$ sub.

IMO pay to win is anything you can pay for that gives one player a significant advantage over another.

So if you can buy an item for 20$ or farm that same item for 20 hours, that is still Pay 2 Win because the advantage is the time you save.

I also disagree with him.  Archeage wasn't that bad.

Yet you speak of it in the passed tense less than 6 months after it was released...

He's right, AA is a big pile of crap. It isn't all crap, it might even have less crap than many other recently released MMOs but overall it definitely is a big pile of steaming crap.

That's because i didn't like certain features in AA, but that doesn't mean the game as a whole is badly designed.  It has great features such as gliding, trade runs, sailing, farming, etc.  To dismiss a whole game because someone dislikes certain things is foolish.

My reaction was the other way around, funnily enough.

I LOVED certain key features but I found overall the base game, from the art-style to the graphics, from the combat to the questing, was absolute garbage. A few fun ideas we've seen done better before (farming, naval battles) and some very brave design elements that were pretty amazing (jail-time, political systems) but all built on one of the worst foundations I've ever experienced in an MMO.

That being said, this Das Tal guy seems hilariously mad at everyone and desperate for his game to get attention.  I've seen it before but the art-style and camera angle were like NOPE to me.

Pretty simple really.

I liked DayZ a lot be my two complaints were the inability to effect the word and 50 people max on a server.

This solves both of those with permanent base building and 1000+ person servers.

the current map size only supports about 200 players per server.

So that 1000+ player server does not exist in alpha.

They have said there are plans to expand the map and server size and if the forgelight engine is any indication, it will be capable of handling more than 200 players.

For anyone who has played DayZ you know that server pops, in terms of "feel" are not additive, they are exponential. So 4 times the max amount of players from DayZ is still going to FEEL like a massive leap up, all other things being equal. That being said I think the current H1Z1 map is smaller than Chernerus by a lot? Anybody got square KM on it? Chernerus was 225 km squared, so 200 peeps on a smaller map would feel even more populated.

EDIT: looking at this -

Seems that A) this map design is very similar to PS2 maps but 6km x 6km so 36km squared. 4 times the people on a map roughly 1/8th the size as Chernerus, yeah that place is gonna be PACKED.

OK OK.... I agree, but for someone like you, who really enjoys a zombie survival game, isn't H1Z1 a little to arcade like and not enough ultra realistic? I think the main draw for Dayz at it's core is the ultra realistic part, that's something H1Z1 does not have, aND so I got to thinking, what is the draw? again, I don't want to come off as snobbish, but without the ultra realism, it's just a survival arcade game, I have played many of those, the draw for me has been the great killing animations, that also will never been a pillar of strength though for H1Z1 because it's an mmo. I guess when I think of it that way, I consider were it can go, it has the potential to become a poorly animated zombie survival arcade game, see that just leaves me asking again, what is the draw?

Well seeing as I also love Planetside 2 and this uses the same engine and comes from a closely related team, I expect at least that level of quality and realism.

I am not expecting Arma level milsim realism, although having to eat and drink and keep warm being factors is always fun for me, but no it's not a deal-breaker that it isn't milsim realistic. A certain degree of realism will be nice to see and it's already more realistic than PS2 mechanically speaking and they have said they have planned to try and walk the realism/fun tightrope so I'm looking forward to how they manage that.

Well Queen Ayreen is 100 percent a Tyrant. I mean she has secret police, and you become one of them. They should of made that group of rebels freedom fighters, not some other Tyrant working for a death god. So i guess out of the two i would rather have a none death god cult.

Are you new to the game or just haven't been paying attention?

Queen Ayrenn's enemies are the Veiled Heritance - an Altmer supremacist group that objects to having savages (Bosmer) and beasts (Khajiit) in the alliance. That's the main conflict in the Aldmeri Dominion for the first 3 zones not the Molag Bal main story line. The AD story line then shifts to some Bosmer in-fighting in the 4th zone and Khajiit infighting in zone 5.

This is another discussion altogether but it is my opinion that Ayrenn and the Veiled Heritence have exactly the same goals, Ayrenn is just a lot smarter in how she goes about it.

It's literally the only explanation that makes the 26-year-old child queen thing make sense to me.  And all that stuff they sing about her doing? Baseless propaganda.

If Ayrenn gets the throne, she will turn right around and slap the slave shackles on all the Bosmer and Khajiit and any other non-Altmer who helped her get there, mark my words.

Pretty simple really.

I liked DayZ a lot be my two complaints were the inability to effect the word and 50 people max on a server.

And yet, they allow all these random soldiers to become the Emperor.

LOL yeah if they renamed it Grand Champion or something it would make WAY more sense IMO.

King Emeric is a penny-pinching coward with hardly any decision-making skills.

King Joruun is a dunder-headed moron whose only answer to everything is fighting.

Queen Ayrenn is a naive child who is hiding behind good PR to insitigate enslavement of all non-Altmer.

And monarchy =/= dictatorship.

That being said the EP is not a monarchy because Joruun is just a puppet for Almalexia and the others in the Tribunal.

The reason I wanted to play Darkfall 1 in the first place was because of the Morrowind vibe. I picked Alfar DUH cuz they were Dark Elves in a land with Giant Mushrooms.

I'm also PRETTY sure I read once that the makers of Darkfall first set out to make an MMO-like Morrowind with UO mechanics, which I'd say they mostly succeeded at.

Sadly I could not get into DF:UW, as much as I loved some of the changes, starting over just felt like a huge let down after I'd worked so hard to get my Alfar to a place where he was PvP viable (never macro'd though that was like what 90% of people did).

So yes OP, 100% agreed.

So disappointed

All I wanted out of this was DayZ with a "massive" number of people, seems like it'll be fulfilling that for sure.
LOTRO, Landroval server.
Trading up one POS for another. Gratz?

Every single MMO I have played has felt like a single player game until I joined a guild or played with friends. City of Heroes may be the only exception but still the reason was I was always playing in groups.

As per your questions; Later levels invite you to do stuff in groups in Craglorn or you can PvP as well. You can actually start doing PvP at lvl 10.

Yes you need to complete the quests to get the max xp as you level. Grinding mobs is not the best way.

The PvP is fun but it is best done with an organized group.

I have played quite a few mmo's... and this one especially feels very solo compared to others.  Maybe its the lack of names/guilds above peoples heads, thats mentally screwing with  I know that is supposed to make it immersive, although I think I dislike that aspect.  I will have to try and get used to it I suppose.

Turn on chat bubbles.
