Hehe, good one.
But really, it's already disturbing enough that we waste our time by posting for (or should I say: against) this game. |

Why would you feel that you are funding a black market just because you get a whisper from someone who is not in any way connected to the game? I get whispers like this in WoW too, regulary. I just ignore them and so can't really say for sure how many whispers, but I do get at least 2 or 3 every weekend. These are spammed messages, usually when I get such a message, someone else who is also playing from the same room gets the same message within a few seconds. Usually these messages are in broken english, e.g.: "Blizzard is about to launch a new mounts, go get your account stolen on this website: www.getyouraccountstolenhere.cn" This happens in all mmorpgs where there is something to gain for the thief. Those thieves have no connection to the people creating the game, so I'm a bit at a loss why you would feel dirty about it. |

I think you can all see where this is going. If they do not get enough income trough the cash shop, now that there is no sub fees anymore, then there will be no funding to continue with the game at all. This game will not last long anymore, unless lots more people will give it a try and are willing to spend money trough the cash shop. |

I doubt that server overloading is the reason. It's more likely that they want to be able to ban cheaters and to only allow a trial once per credit card. Most people dont switch credit cards every day, so it's a good way to limit it to 1 per person. Perhaps you meant that 1 person would create 60 trial accounts? |

This is indeed true for most MMORPGs. Even if a level was just an indication of strength (what it should be in my opinion, no hidden mechanics) then your explanation is indeed a big difference between DFO and the other MMORPGs. |

yes, but in Darkfall 5 noobs can at least stand a chance against a vet, in other MMO's the vets just auto-dodge/evade every attack.
Okay, so the problem isn't levels then. It's some weird dodge/evade mechanic. |

Originally posted by Agricola1 You said no levels twice. (probably intentional :p) However, just like mmo's that do have levels, a character in DFO who was played for 6 months has much higher stats and higher skills than a character that has been played for only 1 month. Just like in an mmo with levels, a newish character has no chance against a higher level... oops... longer played character. So is it really so important to name twice? |

Seriously tho, if trial accounts can be used to abuse the game, then that should obviously be fixed before they allow trial accounts. Trial accounts should not be a bad idea just because the game is hack/cheat friendly at this moment. (is it?)

Since you started installing it already, you can still easily make it to 80 and get the required gear to join people in destroying the lich king. All before the next expansion is released.
Once the expansion is released, you can forget about it. Sure, people will still kill him to get the achievement, however they will do it with a group of level 85 instead of level 80. Looking back at gear changes from level 60 to 70 and 70 to 80 then there won't be much of a challenge if Blizzard continues with this trend. If you are only interested in seeing the conclusion of a quest or an expansion, you might as well just watch a youtube of it. If you don't mind it that there won't be much of a challenge left, and still want to go trough it anyway, then ignore my rant :p |

This is why we cant have nice things: Alganon Review...
General Discussion « Darkfall 2/22/10 6:15:20 AM
This thread is another fine example of why there should not be a score with a review. There is no need to say: "Darkfall is a 6". Someone who wants to know about the game will (or should really) read the review and base his opinion about what he read. Not that "6" thats up there somewhere. Likewise "Alganon is a 5.8" is also rediculous. People can read the text of the review instead and decide for themselves that it is utter garbage. They don't need a 5.8 somewhere high up to tell them that. Why write so much text in a good written review (this Alganon review is actually good written) if you think you can also satisfy people by giving a single (inflated in this case) number? |

THAT is why I don't play WoW. ;)
Does Darkfall have a free trial, out of curiosity?
Don't take anything you read for granted. Saying you like WoW in the Darkfall forums gives you -10 forum credit. Making up stories about your 4 year old kid dominating WoW battlegrounds because it's to easy gives you +5 forum credit.
Don't give up on the Darkfall free trial yet, the changes planned for Darkfall do hint a bit on allowing trial accounts. Edit: to clarify, no trials in the planned changes. Could still take a couple of months. |

Letting the cat out of the bag: Hive Queen and magic
General Discussion « Darkfall 2/15/10 9:43:58 AM
To someone who does not play Darkfall, this does indeed sound like an exploit. It's hard to imagine that maxing out a magic skill in one day is intended. The OP said this could be done. Was that an exageration maybe? |

Small question: If you gather from a tree for example, and your stamina runs out after 10 minutes, or the tree becomes depleted. What do you do? Do you get up from the couch and miss a good 30 seconds from the movie while you search for a new nearby tree that isn't yet depleted? |

World of Warcraft: 11.5M Subscribers Since 2008, Has WoW Peaked?

It is not entirely subjective. Over the last year (or years) the game has been made easier than what it was. This is not subjective, the changes are apparent. Some examples: 1. There are no longer aggressive monsters in the starting (level 1-5) areas. 2. All content before level 60 have had monster health reduced by 30%, many elite monsters are no longer elite. As a result group quests can now be solo done. 3. End bosses of low level dungeons have had their level reduced. 4. Experience needed to level is halved before level 60. It is much easier to reach that level now. 5. Mounts can now be used at level 20 and fast mounts at level 40. Instead of level 40 and 60. The price of mounts is now 1/10th of what it was. As a result it is much easier to gain faster travel and starting with flying at level 60 instead of 70, you will definately notice that completing quests has become trivial. 6. Good gear to start raiding is much easier to get. 7. Dungeon finder makes it very easy to farm heroics (wich they should not be called). Now this point is very positive, I love the dungeon finder, but I will not deny that it makes it easier.
I agree that none of this is neccesary negative, but it does make it easier than how it was. Do I think that the game was better a few years ago? Overall no, there is much more to do in the game now. But it is obvious that everything has become easier. And the reason is most likely to cater to a larger audience. |

Looks good, and it's only for the first few hours. Will force PK players to search for a little bit of tougher prey than the people who just started and still have to figure out how to draw their weapon. I think the only people who complain about these changes are the reds who can only win from newbies. |

This sounds good! I initially thought Darkfall was only PvP, but now that I have learned about the big PvE part in it, I might try it out sometime when I have more time to play. From reading your post the PvE part seems to take up quite a lot of time. Perhaps in my next vacation I will give it a shot. |

He managed to do this because those people were to trusting yes, but he also had a lot of help.
1. No visible distinction in the game between a capital i and an L. 2. Clan interface in the game is sloppy, if it is true that deleted characters remain visible (wich i'm not sure that it is, this could be a clever lie for wich his victims fell). 3. The ease of impersonating another character because everyone runs around naked. 4. The accepted way to drop out of a clan when you are going to make an expensive purchase, because of the posibility to war another clan on the spot.
Of course he is clever enough to fool others and gain their trust. But I doubt this is a very nice person. His racist remarks for one, wich could have been overlooked were it not for his profiles signature. |
