I really don't care "the last great hope"

and totally agree some guy above said "It will be the last great hope till it launches".

I don't believe the greatest MMO of all, because every games always have haters and fanboies
Seeing flamewars in MMO forums is common things in this community.

Zero RPG elements.

You can dig and build.

You can also upgrade your pickaxe.

Its a gathering/mining simulator and after digging forever you can start to build something. The game caters to professional 3D modelers and is completely overwhelming for an average Joe.

My 2c.

(Yes I know that SoE promised all kinds of stuff for Landmark - none of that has materialized yet - so no I am not going to bring anything up that is not in game yet)

My 2c, all of those you stated are the purpose of EQ Landmark and it is in alpha state which means it is still in development process. People should recognize this before purchase a game for early access, or they can wait for launch day, however, it's F2P game anyway.

For the topic, I don't think you should not expect more of RPG element in landmark, ofc you can build anything concept, so you can find a rocket ship in Landmark during your exploration. But the game will has combat system and pvp, monster and the loots,  and dungeon anyway (source from SOE EQ Landmark blueprint).

Also I don't think the Landmark kind of game does not cater so narrow crowd of people, as you see how Minecraft has so tremendous success, or else, may be tons of people are professional 3D modelers.

I love Elder Scroll franchise, play since Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim

For ESO I'm not too obsessed about it, the game has awkward animation , the graphic is decent, it's general tradition themepark quest-based MMO game with typical phasing/instanced zone instead seamless open world. ESO has nothing new, and innovation that give me a blast. And imho, it doesnt deserve monthly sub fees.

However, ZOS does solid deliver the game, despite it's tradition MMO but the playing experience feel different from any other MMO. ZOS make a darn close to have Elder Scroll immersive on ESO.

The game has many positive things such are a varies class customization that provide soft trinity, very interesting crafting system, the hugh immersive world map that make me so enjoyable in exploration the Tamriel. and fun Cyrodrill PVP (better than GW2 WvW, I'm impress that this game engine can carry massive of people while GW2 suffer from culling issue). ZOS devs seem know what they do (hope they will provide more interesting contents as it is monthly sub fees game)

From what I see in this year, 2014 between ESO and Wildstar. Honestly I'm not the fan of both games, I feel passive of these two games and see them just "the killing time MMO". Because my main focused of future MMO is EQNext, and I enjoy a lot in Landmark alpha. Both of ESO and Wildstar are monthly subscription, from my point of view, the two games are the same in term of genre and financial that I decide to play only one of them

Here's the deal breaking of my decision, cause I will resub to play WoW: Warlords of Draenor to raid the new content with my guild mates anyway, so I haven't enough lifetime to subscribe another tradition themepark MMO with vertical progression of gear treadmills. (and my eye breed a rainbow of cartoony graphic)

So my pick is ESO. After playing it, it's not truly amazing, but it's not bad, and I enjoy it so far, remind me old school online RPG, very fit for my killing time MMO.

*cough* culling got fixed some half an year ago, or more *cough* Gotta love TESO faboys

They fix or not, I have no idea whatsoever. cuz I dont follow GW2 for year now this game really got me bored. and *cough* I'm more like EQNext fanboy *cough* Gotta love haphazardly poster

Then, if you are smart, keep your mouth shut on things don't know. Otherwise your opinion is not worth 2 cents. Also you risk for people like me to fix your posts all over the boards. And *cough* EQNext is like a weird mix between minecraft and Gw2. Not saying its a bad game though, looking forward to it as well but I'm pretty sure you'll be bored of it just like you are with Gw2 :)

Basically what you did is compare something you have vague knowledge of with something you've lost any clue for more than an year. You see, why would I take into consideration anything you have to say about it?

What's next? Gw2 has no LFG tool ?

Well it is my opinion that state on public board from what I know, and I dont care is it worth 2 cent for you or not. And EQNext has almost zero info here, no one certainly know that what game would be like, but so far I enjoy a lot in Landmark game cause I love building and create things game that wont get me bored for a long time for sure :)

nice 2 see GW2 fanbois raging over here btw

ooooh Apologize for touching your beloved game

o.O I'm not really raging. Just telling you that your opinion on a public forum is not worth a thing since its faulty, but you won't even acknowledge that :) Doesn't matter, it makes my day that you really can't put up any arguments supporting your opinion :) Thought I'm having a discussion with somewhat smart people.

Again my opinion is based on my actual experience on the games, so I dont know the contexts of my opinion are 100% true or outdated or not because again it's on my experience. And it's not worth a thing to you or not I really dont care. So thank to fix up the false things btw

and your welcome that my faulty argument make your day smarty human :)

/sigh

Imo the game wont hold the Group PvE oriented Guilds for long.

I don't want to criticize the game and that's not my intention at all, but this isn't the kind of content that will keep those who like Group PvE like Raiding etc.

Maybe for a solo PvE player is ok, maybe more than ok, but i don't think its enough for those who like Group PvE and Raids.

Maybe i m wrong but that's my opinion :)

The Wildstar thread is over there you can discuss and exciting for upcoming release date.

No need to came here and trash other game which is not your cup of tea

Lol dude, chill. He's just stating what he thinks will happen. That doesn't mean he's trashing the game, or even dislikes it for that matter. Also not every person who loves large raids is going to like WildStar. There are many other factors that may outweigh the raiding system for some. ESO may simply be a world a person would rather raid in with their guild, even if ESO doesn't currently offer it at the size they like, while WS does.

it's fine that he's stating his opinion but I saw him almost in every ESO thread and most his viewpoints are pessimism about this game, I certainly sure that he really hate this game, but no idea why he like to bash the game that isnt his personal taste

From what I understand

The World, Nexus world in Wildstar is seamless world just like WoW, Rift

But when sometimes you do the PVE path quests, starting zone, arena pvp it will be phasing instance.

Also the game will has open world PVP, Flying Mounts so it is highly possible that Wildstar has seamless world

I am type of gamers who prefer gameplay over graphic. I dont like to play good looking game with crap gameplay.

Also I dont expect Wildstar to be revolutionary. In fact I don't expect the current MMOs these days to bring something new, I guess I will wait for Everquest Next or Blizzard new project, Titan to bring that revotionary which I hope to MMO industry.

In the mean time Wildstar just gives the old school mmorpg gameplays that I want (raids, housing, seamless world, open world pvp) So I will definitely play Wildstar while I'm waiting and see the new hope of MMOs come to the industry.

I did not know about this and to be honest i do not liek their direction.

40-40 is going to alienate a LARGE number of players,,BAD idea.

Also with the way combat is designed,i cannot see this working well at all.

A game NEVER needs to cater to large numbers of players becuase all you need is to do another run or make another plot for the players who couldn't get in the first time,Like i said yo uare going to alienate a huge amount of players that cannot get into 40 man teams.

Some people don't have the time to wait on 40 man teamsand some are just not that social ,they prefer to hangout with their few friends ,wife,GF ,brother, sister.

Personally i hate large group content,it ALWAYS feel lame, disorganized and sloppy.I never want to see more than 6 maybe 7/8 tops.

Wildstar has 40 man raids and Warplots

seems like this game is just not your cup of tea...

ok I didn't expect this game at all, and now it get my attention. No matter how it become WoW-clone but this is what I hope for the new MMORPG, may be being WoW-clone is not bad at all.

ArenaNet even allowed direct feed recording to their game when it first appeared about 2 years prior to its release =/

May be they don't want the game to become overhype like ArenaNet's GW2

-Implement specialization in classes, dont allow every class to do dps, heal and tank at the same time( holy trinity is the way to do a proper mmorpg)

-Make gear have stats that people wanna have to improve and become stronger just like any real mmorpg and just like irl, the one with better gear normally wins, its just the way it is in life.

-Remove active dodge, i want to have passive defence stats, i wanna have fun playing a game relaxed...its an mmorpg afterall.

-remove all the portals everywere

-Make the game hard enough so people can die sometimes when they are leveling and have more then 2 mobs hitting them.

You should say in simply short, "Just make another WoW clone"

I guess many people here expect to acquire the new tier powerful gears after killing bunch of other players in WvW

//genius :)

Right now, my point of view in the ESO game is going to be tradition themepark mmo with having Elder Scroll feeling, and have the features that we all know in most MMORPG, such as Raid, RvR, end game gear grind, Instanced zone game world. Other than that, I can't say much because the only information that I got are screenshots, some development rumours, and Intro ESO vid. Also the game is still in Alpha state, may be it will turn out in different way that we saw from Intro vid. So yes it is too early to discuss about this.

May be these questions are better to ask the press who have experienced from Alpha event.

May I edit your subject to avoid the fanwars here, because there are no best mmorpg right now. It is all about what you want to play, just do a research read a review, features, and watch the gameplay demo to decide which game you gonna play.

If you want the game just have a big player base or community that you can join in so stick with the big title games, like eg.. WoW, GW2, SWTOR, Rift, TSW, Darkfall It's all about you love it or hate it. Good luck :)

- Outdated graphic with immersive and 1000 people in one vast zone but highly possibly facing with DCs, lag, and bunch of server issues

- Modern gorgeous graphic, really few connection issue, but have to load screen between zones, break immersion.

Your choice pick!!..

I have read in Tamriel Foundry they said that ESO is probably going to this (sorry I forgot the link)

The "instance" you're in, will probably be for the entire 3 zones, (or 2 for DC), so for example, you'll be in one instance for Summerset Isles, Valenwood, and Elsweyr, which means no zoning until you go into Cyrodiil (which wouldn't even be a big deal, really).  But even if there is load time between zones, so what? Each zone is HUGE, so, how often will  you really be zoning?
