According to the server guild lists some servers will be Elyos heavy, some Asmodian heavy, and a couple were pretty balanced. Really doesn't have to do with toon count as much as guild count. The pvp aspect is highly guild dependent. |

I rolled 6 different characters on 2 different servers, including scouts, through the teens and early twenties and I rested maybe a dozen times TOTAL. Ok, I was a newb and forgot to restock, and didn't want to run back before finishing the quests. Bad players DO NOT make a bad MMO. I agree that Aion has it's down sides, and it's great things, but judging the game by YOUR inability to be a decent player is stupid. As a cleric, I stayed in Dukaki Mines for HOURS on end trying to get those stupid amulets to drop, never resting, and killing non-stop. I just don't understand this criticism. Maybe it's a player criticism, and has nothing to do with the game itself... so don't put it as a game criticism because you suck. BTW, even with all the restocking and buying back experience when I did something dumb and died, I still had over 100k Kinah at level 15... And from what I heard, that's less than average. Oh, and the LoTRO comments... seriously? While I agree that the lore and quests are absolutely awesome in that game, the graphics are nothing to write home about. I quit that game because of 2 things: 1. Easiest MMO on the planet, and that's quite a feat next to WoW newbness. 2. Horrible graphics. I mean the ground is EXACTLY the same in both MMO's. It's a pallete with greenery painted on it. It's absolutely NO different. In fact, the trees and foliage are terrible in LoTRO. It's the same exact tree over and over and over... It's like 2 models for trees and they just stuck them into the landscape like hair folicles. The armor is absolutely horrid in LoTRO. It's cardboard cutouts of armor shaped things on their bodies with textures PAINTED on. And the buildings... omg, don't even get me started. While LoTRO is pretty from a great distance, when you look closely at the detail, it's microsoft paint. Just terrible. And cloth, whatever, it doesn't exist in LoTRO at all. While Aion's graphics are certainly not groundbreaking, at least compare it to something decent, like AoC or EQ2 (While EQ2 is quite dated and used the wrong technology... idiots). Aion is an asian grinder without the grinding. You can quest to cap, or grind to cap (even though there is really not much difference, grind quests or grind mobs). It's a westernized version of Lineage, and some people will like it and some not. No, it won't kill WoW, and thank goodness for that. I absolutely do not want a lot of the WoW newbs in a game I'm playing, and I will be playing Aion. When I'm pvping, I would hope there would be a good challenge. When I'm looking for guild mates, I would hope they're not people that spent the first 10 levels resting all the time. There are some things that bother me about Aion, but not gamebreaking. Like swimming... I can fly, cast spells, and sword fight, but I can't swim? wtf? There are invisible walls all over the place in newbland up to level 25. There are places you can get stuck and have to port out. The cutscenes are blah, the overall story arch is unimaginative, and the constant little of this and little of that to keep me buying stuff all the time is a slightly bothering. Like having to upgrade my carrying capacity and bank all the time... what's up with that? Combat is good. I like the chains, and the reactives, and the animations are great. I hate the animation downtime. Everyone is stuck with it, so it all evens out, but having a cast timer, then an animation timer is frustrating coming from a game where you cast, then move, then cast, then move, etc. I'll get used to it, it's no big deal. For me, the good outweighs the bad. |

Yes, it's a trial of blood, sweat, and tears... Each one must be put in a vial, sealed and sent to AionOnline Corporate office. OR, open beta starts early September... register on the website and maybe get in. Otherwise, no word on any trial accounts at this point. |

Aion's combat sucks. Probably of the worst in the industry. The flying is worse in Aion. The look and feel is slightly better in Aion. The argument of having to buy in the cash shop is mute and stupid because: A. You buy into Aion's "cash shop" every month for $15 a month whether you want to or not... B. You can buy everything in the cash shop with in game coin. Aion has 2 starting areas, PWI has 3. The classes are cooler in Aion, for the most part. Crafting sucks in both games, with an extra edge on suck for Aion (The animations are absolutely horrid). The PvP is about the same, although Aion has a disadvantage because of their terrible combat system. I think PWI wins on variety as there are 3 completely different races that are unique from each other. Aion has 2 races... sorta, as they're really the same race with slight differences. The UI in Aion is decent, although is isn't fully fleshed out... it probably won't change. PWI's UI is bleh. It's ok, but it "forgets" where you set everything and windows open on top of one another all the time... PWI's keymapping and mouse settings are "unchangeable", so if you don't like the way it's set up... too bad. They both have their pros and cons. They're both good games. I got tired of the PvP thing after a while anyways, which is not an option in Aion, you have to PvP. It just becomes rock/paper/scissors after a while, and the "detriments" to ganking in Aion are laughable at best. |

Attacks: Zoom reverses the mouse zoom feature, and A D Keys remaps your A and D keys to turn instead of strafe. Very limited, and if you PvP, you absolutely will want your strafe as it does not put these on any of your other keys. The zoom I changed of course, but the up and down motion of your mouse does not change (invert mouse). There is no keymapping feature that I know of. |

LvL 20-30: 1 day (24 hours) Butcherblock Lvl 30-40: 1 day (24 hours) Feerrott or Steamfont Lvl 40-50: 2 days Revamped Everfrost or Lavastorm Lvl 50-60: 3 days DoF and Lesser Faydark Lvl 60-70: 3 days KoS and Loping Plains Lvl 70-80: 4 days RoK If you are inexperienced with the zones and where to go, breaks, and general "smell the roses" type gameplay, double that. It takes 2 weeks for a veteran to level from 1-80 non-stop, so a non-veteran that has played mmo's before should take about a month. It is impossible to guess how long it would take a person that has never played an mmo before as some people are just plain stupid.

Coercers are more of a tank and healer buffer. They have buffs that help healers heal and tanks keep agro. They also charm existing mobs, or create pets from copying mobs. They're best pet, besides the mob itself which is very risky, is a copycat spell that copies the mobs and has their strengths and weaknesses. Illusionists, on the other hand, buff dps. They have Illusory Arm and TC that makes dps classes, like mages and scouts, fight harder and faster. Their pets are copies of themselves or their groupmates (in fact, an illusionist can summon a whole party of pets that are copies of your entire party). Also, Illusionists have slightly better mana regen and manipulation tools, but these are based mostly on their epic weapon. Dps wise, they are very similar, and no, coercers do not have a lot of illusion spells like the illusionist. Crowd control, atm (there are some changes coming), is very similar between the 2. Illusions are fun spells and do not effect gameplay at all. If you're a good guy, and you are in Neriak, the guard will just see a dark elf he does not like for some reason, and kill you anyways. This was changed WAY back in eq1 days when people were using illusions to grief other players in opposing cities. That mechanic has not changed since then. If you are good aligned, Quellious is ok. Most casters in general go the route of Solusek Ro (neutral/anyone), or Anashti Sul (evil aligned). If you are on a PvP server, then you definitely want a Justice cloak (the Tribunal) regardless of which deity you ultimately go with. |

Very good. Probably not the highest population it has ever been but still higher than launch. Population fluctuates according to time of year, what new content was added, and economy. Considering economic times, the population is very solid. A couple servers are over-populated, and there's a couple of servers that are quite low, so most people's view changes according to what they experience. I'll even go ahead and predict a very large population increase in February. If Obama gets his head out of his butt, and economy starts coming back, new expansion with new starter area, and a (supposed) increase in marketing we should see quite an increase. |
