Top that off , impatient players will log out exit out of game and keep repeatively hitting the login servers thinking they can get in game faster. They released new servers today and I been playing for the last 4 hours and have not had 1 issue with playing the game , but I also did the smart thing and rolled on one of the new servers. Also people are getting refunds for the game , the offical forums are full of people saying they got them. While EA does truely suck and can go die in real life IMO , there is a huge outburst of players that are just plain out and simply throwing temper tantrums with the server issues. They are annoying yes , but even all day today before moving to the new server I could get into games without any issues really but having to wait awhile.
People really need to chill out , its just a game and if you really want a refund so bad get one , but I know for a fact that about 75% of the people whining for refunds will turn around and buy the game again because it is a damn good game and this is a patience issue . Maxis did a awesome job on this game and the mulitplayer and real world economy is by far an awesome idea for sim city. |

Originally posted by Aerowyn not yet Ill play more tomorrow though and see how it goes , Im playing SimCity tonight and kinda got addicted to it. Yeah my main issue is polish so thats why I said the rest of the game seems fine and looks pretty decent . I played all the old school rpgs like ruins of mythi drannor ,neverwinter nights , Icewind dale, baulders gate etc . Neverwinter felt like they did a good job of the story and the threats around the city. I hope and prey myth drannor is in the game as a huge multple level dungeon later on down the road , that was an awesome old school dungeon crawl. But yeah ill give more classes a try tomorrow and see how polished they are but I love playing tanks really and manual blocking in this game is horrible in its current state so I really hope they polish up the animations and fix the skill timing so when you block you can attack etc. |

I finally got to play neverwinter today and played for about two hours and just havent had the desire to log back in. While melee may feel actiony , its not very fluid and feels kinda clunky , like when you block an attack and you hit your attack to soon it doesnt register at all and you have to hit it again. Its ashame that they rooted people in place for some skills the ability to be mobile in all forms of attacks makes games much more fun. This will still be about the best game ive played to release directly as a free to play game though , so I cannot really complain but Im really glad I didnt buy any founders packs because I dont see myself playing it much at all with the way combat currently is. I guess GW2 also just spoiled me because this combat is kinda slow and clunky here. Hopefully they polish it before offical release and make it a great game because the scenery and story seemed done very well.

SnailUSA is the worst game company I have ever seen!!!
General Discussion « Age of Wushu 3/07/13 3:07:56 AM
no offense but what do you really expect from these third party companies ? Every one of them from Aeria to Gpotato are known slumlord companies that do not deserve a dime of profit and to close down. Gpotato is so bad even they come to this forum a couple of months ago to argue with some guy they banned and told people here about it. Dont give them money is all there is to it , and do not download their scam/addware games they data mine with. If a game company over seas are too cheap to pay a REAL distributor in the US or Europe to carry their game and handle transactions for them , obviously that company doesnt deserve your money either. Look at Archeage whom know they will have success here in America and they got Trion to distribute it a well known company known for fairness and customer service.

Patch, Server, Backbone, Guesting - what is it?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 3/07/13 3:00:16 AM
yeah im on tarnished coast and logged out in digust tonight over the ridiculous lag. It was so bad tonight that i was stuck in hoelbrak tonight for over 20 minutes talking to guild in chat the entire time but all my skill buttons flashing where i was messing around pushing them and nothing happening. I couldnt zone out of the zone I couldnt port and its getting worse each day , this started for me 3 days ago as well on tarnished coast. The guesting has got to go period , its terrible idea and just causing us nothing but grief on TC. IF people wanted to play with others so damn bad they should of rolled on the server to begin with. Its getting so bad on TC also that we are in overflows daily now in zones like wayfearer foothills or kryta starting zones etc. Like I said Guesting is a stupid idea , make people accountable for where they roll their toons at or pay for a transfer if they want to see their friends so bad.

General: Everquest Next: 'We Like Permadeath'
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/06/13 9:55:25 PM
Smed is just trying to troll people and getting attention like donald trump does. He cannot stand not being in the limelight and being the center of attention. If EQnext released with permadeath it would be company suicide regardless of what the few here that like permadeath think.

Pre-WoW how often we're MMOs crappy?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/06/13 9:48:51 PM
seriously people here are wearing beer goggles if they think people didnt complain before wow came along . I was even in WOW beta and the complaints on the forums , especially IGN were insane the amount of hate for wow. I was playing EQ2 at the time I think , it had just released and people there were complaining hardcore and threatening boycotts of EQ2 to get rid of the experience debt for grouping. There was forum threads threatening certain toons names because they wiped in dungeons and caused a level worth of experience debt lol. DAOC had more complainers than I can remember on IGN , people threatening each other and fighting over radar hackers. Shadowbane the same exact thing on the wolfpack forums , people going completely bonkers because a bug or dupe was found and people leaving in droves over the game bugs. TOA for DAOC released and everyone yelling and screaming at sanya on the ign forums . I can just keep going and going , but you get the point nothing has changed. The only difference is nowadays you have 100 different mmorpgs to choose from when you get frustrated with your current game and you leave then come back later , it happens all the time here. The only main difference I can think of in games today that make them different than old school mmorpgs is that most games are heavily instanced and require no group work at all until end game. Games like eq2 SWG DAOC , they required forced grouping to accomplish anything that would greatly benefit your character , so you were made to make friends and use teamwork or not get accepted back into groups. There was still plenty of drama though , probably more back then. In a way devs today are much better with tech than the old days because you get things like rifts pq system and dynamic events like gw2 , which is tech that wasnt no where near available back in the day. But we have lost a lot of open world feeling with games nowadays due to heavy instancing and instance dungeoning. |

boycott sim city 5 and EA games and DRM.
General Gaming « General Discussion 3/06/13 12:36:54 PM
yeah seriously if people were not stealing so many games you wouldnt have DRM to begin with. I plan to buy this game regardless and I hate EA , but I have enjoyed all the sim cities . Hell even my technology class way back in middle school allowed us to play the orginal sim city on those old computers in school so to me this franchaise has a history worth it to me. You want to protest , go protest all the thieving websites like pirate bay and the rest of those sites that make it so game companies cannot make any money because of all the thieves in this world that are to cheap to spend money or get a job so they can afford to buy games, music, and movies. |

Originally posted by Gurpslord this really isnt true , I absolutely HATE GW2 begining of the game and ive been playing since head start off and on . I literally have a lifetime supply of cooking ingrediants so I can skip the first 20 levels pretty much and get an actual build going on any alts I make. I play to level 5 then stop completely and do cooking on all my toons to 400 so I can get to around level 20. GW2 does not even take off until you have at least 1 , 10 point trait line and utility skills on most classes. Trait lines are your blood line in GW2 and level 20 or really level 30 is when the game starts kicking off. Hell you dont even have all your weapon skills usually by level 5 , it takes you that long to open up all your weapon skills for most classes. PVE is just not fun until you have a viable build you are using that is fitting to your playstyle . PVE is much better in GW2 than most games that just have you stand in front of a mob and faceroll it and move on to the next . At least in GW2 you get rewarded for roaming and crafting , harvesting etc. |

There you go im bored so I did it for him , you dont have to grind for anything in GW2 including legendaries if you just play daily and enjoy the game . I have over 100 skill points on warrior just for leveling over and over again past 80 and didnt even realize im almost to a legendary from just playing daily and not ever grinding anything. I think ive run 4 dungeon runs total since owning the game. |

Guild Wars 2: Flame & Frost - The Razing Teased
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/06/13 12:06:08 PM
yeah its getting slow and boring now , they need to kick this story into overdrive or people are going to start yelling and screaming soon. Portal closing for dailies in wayfearer foothills gets boring after the 100th time. =/ Please oh please no more delays on the WvW update , its long overdue and needs progression!

unless you can deal with the frustration of the engineer i would suggest not rolling one unless you have played the game and learned all the mechanics first. Playing classes like that , that die very easily mesmer , elementalist, engineer etc will just frustrate you and make the game go super slow for awhile. GW2 is all about dynamic events , and exploration and the faster you can do those things tagging more mobs at once in events , or running around without dying or having to fight one mob and a time and running away , the faster you will level and get to have fun. There are great zones in GW2 but there are also terrible zones that are just frustrating to play though , millage may vary. I would suggest rolling a ranger as your first toon if you want to be ranged , or guardian , or warrior if you want to go melee. Warrior and Ranger are probably the easiest classes and fastest to level in GW2 and are the most forgiving if you mess up or over pull. Guardian is almost as strong as both of them but weapon and build will determine that part of it. Once you start getting into your 40s and 50s and get to see the larger dynamic events , you will have some fun but those events still to this day tend to be zergy so mechanics do not play a huge part. Also read up on dungeons before you run them , they can be down right frustrating if you do not know mechanics. I like to think of GW2 dungeons more like heroics from other games and some of the explorable modes as small raids. |

Rift and DAOC are not even comparable for pvp and i played daoc from 2000 until 2005 also then warhammer online. DAOC had points to doing pvp , rift has none other than gear sets. WOW and Rift pvp share almost 100% in common , its unskilled gear based mess. There is conquest at end game for max level players where its three faction pvp but its nothing like DAOC or even on the same level as warhammer , its just zerge and ninja cap objectives until a team reaches max points and then wins and you have to wait for it to reset and start again later on in the day. The only game that I can even remotely think of close to DAOC style of realm vs realm is guild wars 2 and its still not perfect by any means to it. But you can world vs world and earn gear (exotics) through doing world vs world. But guild wars 2 is all about siege weapons and running circles around the map capping objectives or defending keeps or taking them. There were relics in the game called orbs of power but people found ways to exploit them so they removed them. But you can do pve or wvw in GW2 to earn your gear but it will take a bit longer in wvw. Honestly if you want something a lot closer to DAOC GW2 is about it or a free to play small game called regnum online. The next game that might be closer to DAOC is TESO releasing at the end of the year though beta signups are on their site now and they should be starting up soon for beta weekends. Rift pvp again is just warfronts , conquest, and its all about grinding gear and getting run over by players whom are already geared. Prestiege ranks you earn in their pvp are just basically so you can buy stronger gear. |

General: Outside the MMO Box: SimCity

i hate EA like a lot of other players here , but I grew up playing sim city and will probably purchase this as well just because its a city sandbox builder and I dunno why but I find them and the old roller coast tycoon series a lot of fun. I wish it wasnt EA also but I always loved sim city.

no guild wars 2 expansions currently planned
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 3/05/13 2:22:15 PM
there is a huge amount of players still playing world vs world in guild wars 2 , they do not need some major expansion to keep player retention with this crowd . If they continue to commit to fixing the world vs world maps and add in the new realm rank abilities experience and passives they will create a competitive environment where people do not want to leave and be left behind by their guilds etc. This should of been in at release or shortly after but culling took over their priorites for good reason. I want to try out TESO to but if the maps get fixed and they lead to more 6 vs 6 10 vs 10 skirmish style pvp than myself and a lot of people I know will not go anywhere because the combat is fast paced and fun. If you add in a long term realm rank system like DAOC did and keep adding to it , I can see people playing wvw for years to come without the need of new expansions. There is a large portion of GW2 playerbase that is diehard wvw players and could care less about pve just keep in mind.

General: Hartsman Speaks About the Future of MMOs
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/05/13 2:13:50 PM
the reason people quit games and do not commit to them is they are all easy mode games nowadays where you get everything handed to you on a silver platter . If you take away the challenge in games and allow everyone to have everything with no effort people leave because they get bored. Carrot on a stick games like DAOC and EQ that required you to work hard to achieve your goals people stuck with for years. Devs nowadays do not get it , you have to force group people to make them be social and you make rewards hard to achieve so people feel a sense of accomplishment. Instead they listen to the whiny vocal minority about how everything is to hard or time consuming and nurf things into the ground. The most social game ive ever played in my life was DAOC , because it took you a month or longer to reach max level and another 3 months to get to a respectable realm rank and you did all this by having to look for groups before dungeon finders were made etc. You were forced to make friends in your realm and you built up bonds there with those same people that lasted years. I cannot even name one person ive met in recent games I still talk to as a friend , yet my old DAOC friends I still talk to on facebook to this day . |

General: Hartsman Speaks About the Future of MMOs
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/05/13 1:48:19 PM
this just goes to show you truely how out of touch with gaming this guy is and the only ones who even think highly of him in the first place is the old school eq2 players who liked kunark. This guy is clueless , people do not stay long now because of the quality of the games being produced , none of them are breathing living communities any longer. Hell even guilds nowadays just about suck where members come and go constantly depending on what the guild your in is doing. DAOC EQ UO , hell even shadowbane had communities , wow still does even. This guy was the main dictator in creating the largest wow clone to release to date from a triple a mmorpg company and expects people to embrace it because like 2% of the game is different than wow , then makes up excuses on why mmorpgs dont hold communities any longer. If a good quality pay to play game was to release that had everything people were wanting in it from day one instead of adding it in a year after release you would see a larger population of gamers playing pay to play sub games regardless of what the few freeloaders here think. You can look at wow and eve , both today hold a ton of subs and both are totally opposite games. This guy just makes excuses for being a complete and utter arrogant idiot , thinking games like Rift were so great yet lost 90% of their population in the first few months. Even the expansion didnt do a think for their population hardly , they just keep merging down from their original 90 plus servers to what a handfull so people are given the illusion from guys like this that their game is popular when its not by any means. I truely hope guys like this leave the industry and let some new fresh blood in to make decisions because its guys like this that are killing the industry and making it nothing but dungeon crawling purple gear no community garbage. Sorry for the rant I need an energy drink! |

Engineers do have a ton of grips to complain about and anyone who thinks they do not are not looking at classes fairly. They are supposed to be a build jack of all trades but seem to not fit one good class mechanic compared to every other class. 100 nades is nurfed now kits etc and it looks like all they got positive this past patch was a larger heal. I think the class needs to really be reworked. Also my main is a 80 geared warrior , if you are running 100b in wvw then you deserve to die in wvw and think the class sucks of course. Greatsword is only used for mobility in WvW , so im not sure where posters are complaining about warriors in WvW sucking. If you want to be viable as a warrior use hammer and knockdown and swap to greatsword if you want to hit 100b. 100B is not burst dps in pvp there is much better weapons to choose from for skirmish. Axe/Axe is also underated until someone who knows how to build hits you for over 10k with evis. Greatsword is ment in WvW for pairing with a controller in your party and vigor. |
