i tried this game in beta and i also tried the 10 or something day trial about two months ago and played for a couple of days each time and just found it overall boring. Like many others here have said the combat in this game was way to slow paced for me and I found it very boring. Glad you found a new mmo home though OP its always nice to write off mmorpgs and then come back and find something you really enjoy. I think the only game since DAOC ive stayed subbed the entire time to so far is ESO and it also has its own issues.

fair enough but im not dissing your payment model here . You are marketing the game as a cross between basically SWG and UO which I played both extensively for a long time along with both EQ and DAOC during those years also. My point being when I seen your videos and read your site before making a informed purchase I was like this will be great a game similiar to SWG etc but within minutes after doing the tutorials reading the AH prices and looking at guides I was instantly turned off and I loved the complex crafting system in SWG and hoping planet to planet to get the quality resources needed to make that awesome hand gun or armor. Hell my favorite crafting skill tree in SWG was architect. SWG crafting was simple compared to crafting in the repop. While I do not mind a steep learning curve in games I felt completely lost in yours and had to go and refer to third party guides online. I just wish you guys would stop focusing so much on community/guild crafting and allow the playerbase to actually focus on making their own things in game similar more to SWG and get rid of a few middle man steps etc. 

Also on the topic of free to play you also have to take into account the reviews in the end you get as those will also drive players away from your game. Bad reviews (not basement dwellers rants) also will create rifts in your community and turn off potential players from even trying your game for themselves. I personally think if you just simplified crafting a bit (not even a lot) by making people have a bit more control over their own products instead of relying on a AH for parts or costs from other players I think your game would get a much better review in the end. Im all for sandbox games , my favorite game is 7 days to die and its in alpha still with already a million copies sold at 25 and 35 bucks each now thats success considering its like 5 or 6 guys who make it without a publisher. But look at those sort of sandboxes out there the gathering in itself is a meta game that compliments the crafting systems and leads to hours of fun vs tediousness. But if it doesnt change so be it its just a game that may not be for some of us as stated though I think you guys are missing a great chunk of players who actually want a great sandbox style crafting mmorpg.

did you have 1.6 downloaded yet? the justice and champion system patch. Its about 25 gigs.

You make a lot of assumptions based on your own opinions. The resources, camps and other content in this game scale by the number of players automatically. So more players = more resources, more mobs. And while you keep harping how the game isn't much like SWG, you seem to be in the minority. I also think the assumption that F2P players won't like a grindy game is again, based on your personal dislike for it. Games will appeal to roughly the same percentage of fans regardless of model type. Players will either like the mechanics, or they won't. What F2P does though is exposes the game to many more players who would not have tried the game previously. If players like it they will stay, if they don't they will move on. F2P ensures that many players try the game though, and from there the honus is on the game to keep them. Repop is a game designed for longer term players. The reality is that most F2P MMOs are very wow-esque and their churn rates are incredibly high. That's not the players we are targeting. Repop is designed to be a social game that keeps players coming back. It won't appeal to as many players as a standard theme park, but those who it does appeal to will play longer on average.

The game is in alpha. Some things are placeholder or works in progress. The two most common complaints other than the complexity issues are UI and graphics, and as we've already stated those are things that are being worked on. There is an entirely new UI coming in the patch after next, and graphical improvements in each patch. While that may be less noticeable to FPR players, OWON players have already seen a ton of work in that regard. Those are things that will be improved.

Mechanics wise the game isn't going to change much though. It's always going to be more complex than most other MMOs. It's always going to be crafter centric. We'll streamline those features to make them as accessible as possible, but if your issue is with things like the reliance on other players, or on the gameplay being different from most other MMOs, then this just won't be the game for you.

no offense dev/CM whatever but your game is about as close to SWG as wow is to EQ. SWG had fun engaging crafting systems you guys systems are overly complex and tedious. I wont knock the graphics as I do not think graphics lead to fun and Im not dissing your game but like the poster you are replying to I quickly got a refund the second I read up on the crafting complexity and seen it in game myself. I bought this game based on your videos on your website and steam and within a hour I was already wishing I didnt make the purchase. You guys are going to need to do something serious with crafting or your game is just going to have a small niche community. Heck I remember even being killed after stepping out of town a small distance and that overall is not fun at all either. You guys do this game for a living but I think you are all sadly mistaken if you think that players are going to want to have to devote most of their day away to progress having families and jobs of their own and having to setup trading for parts for a overly complex crafting system. I think you guys really need to look at some of the sandbox survival games that are multi and single player for a better system.

I've checked the crown store and the most that you can buy is mounts and the actual Imperial edition and Adventurer's Edition things that were offered before.  

Insofar, this is in-game store done right and I have no gripes with it, they haven't hidden anything behind a paygate.  They don't have a "Sword Of Undying Gratitude From Us For Spending The Most On The Cash Shop", so far it's all pretty innocent.

There are no character slot limitations, you still get the 8 you had before.  

Zenimax Online has...actually done a pretty good job converting this game.

the issue at hand is the cash shop will expand pretty rapidly with what they offer now especially being almost all account bound. the pets and mounts will be the highlight of what everyone purchases but with 1500 crowns a month received most players will have collected just about everything in the cash shop they want in less than 6 months forcing them to add more items since all your characters keep the mounts and pets. Hell I got my nightmare last night without spending a dime since I been subbed basically since release and thats really the only mount I wanted. The 10% bonus to experience inspiration and champion point grinds isnt going to keep many people interested in the long term without a DLC coming anytime soon because of console release. I know for me there is zero point in staying subbed because there is zero interest in anything the cash shop offers anymore since I got the one mount I wanted anyways. I think people are going to feel there 15 bucks is going to nothing very soon. 

Also the end game is ESO problem the vet grind and now champion point grind to compete in pvp is what pisses people off the most to quit. Now its worse with the champion point grind unless you actually do the story quests and VR zones to earn 100 champion points along the way but that can take the average player a month at least to get from vr1 to vr14 and much much longer for casual players.

A laptop is always years behind a decent desktop when it comes to performance.

You can't compare a desktop graphics cards wtih a laptop graphics chip, it's a different league.

If you can't clean your laptop more, then your laptop is just not very good and you should buy some extra cooling for it.

Btw, paying 1000+ dollars for a laptop, doesn't mean it is good...

lol really man you still are living in 2008 or 09 thinking laptops are far behind desktops. My laptop probably smokes half your gaming desktops out there. Proper custom built laptops with proper cooling are just as fast as desktops if not faster due to the lower resolutions your monitor runs for calculating your gpu frames. Ive had various desktops and laptops custom built for me over the years and this sager for example I run is probably the fastest ive owned. They do cost a ton more , i spent almost 3k on this sager customizing its processor and gpus but I can tell you right now laptops have gaming rigs now to and this one runs cooler than any desktops ive owned. 

OP-its a free to play game that is a D2 clone what do you expect great support? Neverwinter to this day since beta hasnt fixed the login issues of the loading screen hanging and you have to do a workaround for every patch they push at you. Tech support nowadays is pretty much nonexistant in all games out there even p2p as most CSRs will run you through a laundry list of cut and paste scripted responses that have zero relevance to your issue at hand.

honestly I hate to sound like the dick here but to me its laughable as this company is probably the worst for greed in their f2p games. Even neverwinter has made things behind paywalls for their end games with refinement for enchantments and artifacts. People here saying they had a good model obviously never played much of their games past early to mid game because they get expensive. Maybe those devs laid off and talent will land a job at a much better company and PW can continue to bleed money.

majority of the quest bugs are now fixed in game but some performance issues still are around from release. PvP is still a mess with lag on the main busy campaign. The vet ranks still take forever to level through but they did lower the experience needed to 1 mil so thats a plus and now since 1.6 you get tons of champion points while you are leveling up your vet levels in end game so it makes it much less painful a grind. I personally think the game is much better now though not perfect but it has come a very long way since release.

i have to agree with some here to , they did lie quite a bit about things going on internally and promised features. But with that being said I do not find any other current mmorpg out there more enjoyable than ESO and its why I continue to play and have since beta. I remember my holy grail game DAOC for years used to piss me off more than eso did with the stupid flavor of the month builds with each new patch and then the utter destruction of the pvp game with new frontiers and that stupid TOA expansion. 

I think people here get way to pissed off over stupid stuff. Yes they lied about features and didnt add in things promised like spellcrafting and the imperial city but I also honestly think maybe priorities changed over time due to either lacking sub numbers or console release. OP- your account was pretty much just created though and you spew a very bitter warning to players here as your first posts. Most here will assume you a troll and if you really didnt want people to go and play it why give the game free publicity making people curious about it?

I will probably delete all my old toons since none are lvl 50 and start from lvl 1. both templar and nightblades have strong builds for bow and pretty much any class can do resto or destruction well. I would suggest you check out tamriel foundry forums for current 1.6 builds. Since the game play for so many builds changed in 1.6 most people are still learning the new skills and abilities. Also keep in mind once you learn the games classes and skill lines you can pretty much build anything you like. Also keep in mind that a strong build in pve will not be the best in pvp and vice versa. Pvp is about burst dps or outlasting your opponent by resource draining them damage shields etc while pve is more focuses on sustained dps and survivability etc. Welcome back to ESO I to played DAOC for years and while ESO is not perfect it still has some great pvp similar to DAOC once they get the performance issues finally settled out.

You wont find many people that think they are such a great company anymore here or even on their own forums. Most people just do not bitch about them here because they are kinda a afterthought and most are playing other games. Trion is no worse than most of the others though , most big companies in the world do not give a shit about your own personal experience with them they only care about their profits and change according to those figures. 

even the grand daddy of all these games was a trainwreck at times to so I do not see CU doing it any better. DAOC during relic raids would lag up and crash the server at times especially the 4am alarm clock raids. Not to mention class imbalance was a trainwreck at times like left axe shadowblades for a long time and drgaonfang 9 second stun infiltrators. Then there was the HUGE power gap of realm ranks and master levels/artifacts. 

Tri realm pvp is never balanced and its all about who has the strongest forced which is usually countered by the zerges. But with bashing DAOC and all DAOC still had some of my best memories for small scale pvp. ESO has its fun moments as did GW2 but I think you die way to fast in both of those games to enjoy the tactical feel DAOC had. I hope Mark remembers the things that made DAOC and sticks to those things and releases a fun game that feels close to DAOC was.

Just because it has cleric in the name it doesn't make it a cleric. I'd say the same thing if they called the great weapon fighter a cleric.

What there is is WoWlike priests.

 

i know what you are saying the heavy plate armor smite/mace turn undead clerics but this game is a action action rpg basically and the paladin coming out now fits that role it seems.  This game is a very lose version of DnD , come on now their parent company is a chinese company that is known for pay to win and expensive micro transactions. I think you are going to see many new characters made but not a cleric if anything maybe a new prestiage path for the ones in game.

I was excited about Camelot Unchained, and then I saw Bainshee throwing their heads at people.  I was excited about Crowfall, and then I saw the Deer Rogue and the Gerbil whatever...sigh.

 

What a long wait for a grown up mmorpg with complex political factions (ala DAoC) and real world building.  It's going to take a wealthy person with vision who gets to ignore the investors before something memorable that folks will talk about for years will occur.

 

i honestly think you are living out of rose tinted glasses if you think mmorpgs were any better back then compared to now and you are just living off the good memories of your first mmorpg. My first true mmorpg was DAOC and I played it straight for 4 years of time alpha/beta 3 expansions shrouded isles TOA and cata. I loved that game as it was my first mmorpg to and I spent way to many hours of a day playing DAOC when I was younger. But with that being said looking back now that game was FOTM builds every single patch, long forced grinds that took you over 6 months to make level 50 and another year to get over realm rank 7 or 8. Not to mention the HUGE power gaps in realm abilities in their realm ranks after a lot of points. If anything games have advanced to stop force feeding grouping up for minimal gains like EQ and DAOC did and thats a positive. Community tools in newer games from guilds and social tools make newer games better for anyone who is not so jaded they cannot talk to other players. Not to mention end games have raids pvp and achievement and story at end game DAOC and EQ had pvp or farm for plat or loot. So Im not sure I follow you at all about the genre growing dead and stale, honestly it just sounds like you are very jaded they havent made a perfect DAOC clown yet with better graphics.

go look at the patch notes forum on the official site before giving this patch so much glory. People are pretty pissed and calling this the nge from SWG lol. It sounds like AOE was nerfed to 50% of what it used to be and a lot of the combat skills are not tuned and this patch was rushed out the door. I was going to download it again myself and give it a try because the combat in this game sucked when i played at release but ill wait awhile still based on everyone on their forums whining.
i like the artstyle so far it reminds me of old DAOC much more than the new stuff coming out nowadays I hope they stick to the artstyle and not try to stylize everything to be flashy

We used it as a tool for things like area prototypes and design concepts so that we could begin honing the art style. HeroEngine was our whiteboard: a great tool to put our ideas in the game and seeing them while the production engine was in development.
