In my opinion the reason APB, a game I was waiting to launch till I was in beta near the end, failed for three main reasons.

1) Not listening to community on what they wanted.

2) Would of had a better feel as a full FPS.

3) More feel of affecting the world, having contestable buildings (tagged buildings) was fun, but noone ever contested it, there was no reward for holding it. Major missions didn't affect looks of the area, you were mearly a generic person in realtime's world.

I hope they took a minute to think of an old game, now gone. The Matrix Online. The game was held together by roleplayers making the storyline for years, untill finally, well lets be honest, there's only so many things you can do in a genra till your out of ideas. If they actually give you the ability to influence parts of the game, not just via wars, but via actions. Continue the storyline through the books maybe. Then at the end of the books, let the world be very player driven. Then I think it could go for a very long time. Level caps are always an issue, especially where potential PvP is concerned.

I'd love eventually to see a MMO that gives an infinite levelcap, and a pvp style that makes everyone valuable in an open area combat. Granted NCSoft had one with everyone being valuable, before they messed it up. R.I.P. Tabula Rasa.

1) Shade - Anarchy Online

 - Just something about the storyline draws me to play it.

2) Tempest of Set - AoC

 - Pretty much same reasons here as Bill.

3) Pre-CU Teras-Ksai Master - SWG

 - Martial Artist born to take down Jedi, Nuff Said!

4) Post-CU Smuggler - SWG

 - The whole smuggling system was fun, and at level 30+ was viable in pvp for thier abilities

5) Mystic - Everquest 2

- Can't heal well, but wards against damage and can rez half a raid if specced for rezzing.

I must confess I'm currently in a guild I may not stay in because of the peon reason. In DDO My guild has 2 rogues, a multiclassed 2 rogue 2 mage, and me, level 8 pure rogue. I'm commonly brought into higher level things that I get no xp from just to help the guild leader and guildies out with something. While I don't mind this for the most part, I'm not leveling because of it. Only good thing that comes out of it is some gear every blue moon that I can use, and plenty of money for more potions. Yes, I'm a self sufficiant thief. Eternal Wands and potions fill 3/5 slots of inventory. But I always have what I need for situations, and can even buff myself with potions to disarm/spot traps in level 12+ dungeons over 4 levels above me most the time in difficulty. And now just recently solo'd the pit with a hireling after getting through all of it up to where you need someone else. And getting help from a guildie who was high enough I get no xp anymore despite completing 1 hr of work going through the place.

While I personally still would love to find the game to get, 2 hours does not a review make. And I know server logs since you make them very verbose for cheat tracking. To fake a server log would take many man hours and not worth it. It sounds like the game is not for everyone, and should be reviewed by 2+ reviewers as all games should. Its like a warhammer/blizard groupie reviewing any new game by any other company or any other genra. Or putting an FPS player to review an TBS game that takes months to play.

In all, I think that Darkfall needs to work on some sort of digital distribution to ease people playing. Then after that, if there is a problem, fess up to it. But Eurogamer needs to admit their failings too. I've seen reviews a plenty on that site which have no basis in reality. They need to get their reviewers to stop using paid review time as a good time to smoke pot. And start actually reviewing. I also knoticed some of the images used in the review look suspiciously like images publically available or available on other sites. They need to check this, becuase if their reviewer is plagarizing without even a slight "image taken from" or "Cropped image from". Then they are liable for that image. I've done reviews for quite a while myself freelance. I spend no less than 1-2 weeks for the review, and plan on a minimum of 12 hours of gameplay time and 12 hours of writing time. With 8 hours spread incase of needing a re-write or re-play.

Once I can find this game, I'm going to do a comprehensive review. And we will see how much of the eurogamer review is right, and how much of the overhype is right. Which I'll try not to get on all the overhype reviews right now. IF someone can tell me exactly how to find a retail box or digital download, please mail me on mmorpg.com.

I hope Q2 is enough time. I'm hoping also that my video card is just too high end right now.

Oh i thoguht FE was, ok then maybe it has a chance. I like its craftign system, its dual wield system. but apparently had the release date wrong. Here's praying since we have more time then!

FE. I was clicking this post on the ticker and clicked the wrong game then realized it, lol.

So since i had to correct my post anyways. I figured I'd just say how I felt. If DF is like this as well, then I guess i'll have to go back to older higher quality games.

The games I'm waiting for are, DF, (used to be) FE, The Agency, Champions Online, and A.P.B.

So far bust on one. I'm guessing there's a niche for everything. I mean hell people play runescape when they could play games with more to do, and better quality. But when most modern cards are detected by the game as "WE don't know what a Radeon HD 2400 is" or the nvidia equiv. And only seems to know the older cards. I just don't see the developers really having their heads in the game.

*sigh* I dunno, guess my hopes for the game were just too high listening to the dev's hype. Maybe they have some mysterious patch they havn't released that'll make the game run semi well and look better. But I just don't see it right now.

The difference?

Great Premise for a game.

Which is contrasted by the utter lack of quality graphics.

Which is further contrasted by a nice crafting system.

Which is contrasted by the game being pushed out months before its ready.

Currently its in closed beta which should be called pre-alpha. I was really wanting to play this game till I played it. If its really coming out in 10 days, its going to release with more bugs than Anarchy Online's release. Which most of them popped up AFTER the release patch, this time everyone knows about them going into it.

This game will be amazing on its re-release with a new company.

The scaling part was bound to be figured out eventually. And the truth is Everquest 2 was the first to really pull it off. Before the mmo's that there complaining about. Tell ya one thing, I hope they decide to get new devs for TR and fix the problems with it with the money NCSoft is about to make.

It's an EA game, they probably forgot to secure the account server and someone hacked it LOLOLOLOL.
