I think they are one of the best due to the PVP aspect. I keep trying other games myself, I probably own a dozen or so other MMORPHs, but still haven't pulled the trigger to stay on any of 'em. That doesn't count the beta testing I hv done as well Neway, to each their own, TOA was a mistake. I can't live online to get some of the stuff done, so I am xtremely happy w/decision to allow us to use BPs 2 purchase TOA MLs and arti's. I asked that myself to developers over a year ago. For me, nothing has topped the 6 hr brawl one night over a keep. Other games just haven't matched it, maybe Guild Wars would be there I guess. I will keep trying others, using the old 1 month time cards (I hate testing out MMORPHs w/credit card, usually means I forget to quit, and end up paying for more than one month. MMORPH-LOVERS TIP: Go to Target, check back walls for clearance shelves, usually near software along back wall, and you will often, and I mean often find discounted game cards for online games for 1/3 the price. I got 1 to SOE for 1 month on each of their games for $9.99. Doesn't happen often, but Target does discount stuff to make room on shelves, and I have purchased more than a few of these game cards By the way, the worse game I have purchased to test, next to SWG, would be Lineage II. With SWG I played 2 nites b4 declaring it DOA. I actually quit in the middle of playing Lineage2, at least it was Best Buy Funning $$ I wasted there. I would agree with auto-training, why have it?? As posted before, only those who can afford to get PL'd or have buffbots can do it. I didn't even know about it until I played an Alb or Mid, and didn't spec a line. Darknite Nitemare |

Has anyone played Guild Wars? I have been a DAoC from the beginning, and have bought other online games just to make sure I wasn't missing anything (EQ, WOW, Matrix Online), but none have the PVP with some skill/level building. Does Guild Wars offer PVP as good as DAoC? I bought GUild Wars and Pre-Order next follow-up expansion, but haven't cracked the seals yet (so returnable) but would very much like some advice from others who might have played. I guess I don't want to be EverCrack addict to DAoC, but I don't want to switch games just to find out that I wasted a bunch of money on shitware w/PVP promises. Any advice solicted. Yes, I have heard Eve Online is good but haven't checked out their 2 week offer. Pls advise, Darknite of The Fellowship of Tristan

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A online gamer who has only dabbled in EQII here, but hardcore Dark Ages of Camelot where PVP is handled very well. For those who don't want to PVP, stay out of the PVP areas. I have been looking for some indication that EQII is going to offer PVP areas (no, arenas do not count) where one can got to pillage and have fun, like castle siege (again see DAoC) and yet allow a player, namely me to do non PVP stuff like questing and crafting (which EQII has an excellent reputation). There is no such thing as a dishonorable kill, one person's villan is another person's hero. If I am involved with a castle siege, and I am the only rezzer in the seiging party, how would there be any dis-honor in stopping the attack by killing the one person who can rez dead opponents. In PVP, non mano a mano, but group/large grp melees, tactics involve killing key players, and if it means that killing a person with 5% health who is the only rezzer, ie turning the tide of the battle to my side's favor, gank away. I will agree that ganking a lowbie is dishonorable, but applying a bounty system reward might be good. If my player is ganking greys in some lowbie area of the PVP area, a bounty on killing me could be announce whereby the person who kills me first gets extra xp/gold/special reward could be announced. Somewhat like the first Jedi knight in SWG got as a reward for being first Jedi, a big ass bounty put out on her head. Anyway, I am watching the upcoming PVP servers for EQII to see if I want to make the switch. It is fun, and in DAoC it is really fun, but the bottom line is you don't have to do PVP if you don't want to. I would be willing to be most people who are sticking with DAoC are like me, loving the PVP castle warfare of which I think DAoC does it best. My two bits!!! Cheers, Nitemare |
Mythic does PVP very well. It is the only reason I still have DAoC account. I would think Warhammer would go quite well with PVP, especially since Mythic added large scale battles to the RVR. It ruled with seiges and such. |
