Now there Everquest Next, procedural world!

Elite Dangerous, procedural galaxy - 400 B I L L I O N Star Systems plus planets

Fuel was procedurally generated but failed because -- well it was just a racing game in a gigantic world, but not that interesting at the end.

The sheer size of those worlds but relatively tiny data necessary is just amazing and will be essential to future games!

Here check this out in case you don´t know about PG, a great video on game world sizes and procedural generation

An ingenious innovative idea which could be badly used in MMO games

SWG had a lot of great sandbox ideas, but it was poor implemented and SOE did a ****ed up job. In comparison, EQ Next sounds too have awesome sandbox ideas, but can SOE actually do it right this time around? Another thing- Planetside 2 is really unpolished and honestly the game shouldn't have been released at the time.

My main concern - Can SOE not screw up and actually polish the game, other than that, I'm quite excited over the game.

Can you trust SOE not to destroy EQ Next like they did to SWG. They did a terrible job maintaining/polishing SWG.

SOE should be blamed for ruining SWG with their new game enhancements, terrible combat mechanics, buggy and unpolished world and game, and soulless level grinding despite its awesome sandbox features. And don't forget the negative impact of empty cluttering houses that plagued the planet that looked like slums surrounding Rio de Janeiro.

Had SOE polished SWG; I believe SWG would have been sustained. That failure would have become a blossom bud.  I mean if you look at GW2 monthly and biweekly updates with their living story, graphic, weapon, world, character updates, fixes and patches, SOE never did put that much level of work/polish/detail in SWG as Arenanet did in Guild Wars 2.

So do you think SOE can maintain and polish their game EQNext or will player base leave in massive drove like in SWG?

Can you trust SOE not to destroy EQ Next like they did to SWG. They did a terrible job maintaining/polishing SWG.

SWG was not popular or a quality/polished game compared to WOW at the time and pretty much a step by step guide book on what not to do in mmorpg development, thanks to SOE.

SOE should be blamed for ruining SWG with their new game enhancements, terrible combat mechanics, buggy and unpolished world and game, and soulless level grinding despite its awesome sandbox features. And don't forget the negative impact of empty cluttering houses that plagued the planet.

For example - Imagine Skyrim where you have a city off in the distance. Now outside of the walls in about 50 foot radius there is nothing. Then further, there is a ring of 1,000+ of player made houses around the city just randomly placed around the city making almost a maze of houses. When you arrived on a new planet you had to navigate around them to get out in the world.

It is EXACTLY like the slums surrounding Rio de Janeiro and it looked terrible. If EQ Next has housing, will it fall to the same fate?

SWG had a lot of great sandbox ideas, but it was poor implemented and SOE did a ****ed up job. So I'm asking you sandbox lovers, do you think SOE can maintain and polish their game EQNext or will they blow it?

im still playing 3-6 hours a day. do dailies, maybe do a dungeon run, and wvw.

found a new hobby though,  spend last night 4 hours reading fanfiction written by other people on the web. its quite interesting and good.

I still rate this game a 10, its the best themepark game I've played. I play GW2 along side with SC4

I'll be playing until SC5 is released in Feb.. Depending the the multi player function of SC5, it could be more or less time on GW2.

My level 23 necromancer

Working on getting the Tier 3 Human Cultural armor for level 80 engineer

Everytime I see your post bcbully, I always see a negative thread/faults about gw2. Honestly if that's all you do, quit the game and go back playing tsw or whatever.

Other than that, here's my level 23 necromancer.  i've used karma points from karma vendors to attain the armor in snowden drifts. I'm going to use transmutation stones up till level 80. I am missing the following shoulder and glove set and eventually I will finish the armor set.

Colors I've used - Pastel Yellow, Evergreen, Hot Pink

The post by Robert Hrouda is absolutely ridiculous.

The most glaring non-factual statement
"you should have anywhere between 15k-25k HP"

In what world does a level 75 have upwards of 25k health.
Someone in a full set of VIT Exotic may have just over 15k. Really goes to show you that the person that designed the Citadel of Flame dungeon has no idea what the hell he is talking about.

"I extended the time from 100 seconds to 200 seconds at the Door Buster event. I intended for you to fight those guys, not circle strafe them and aggro leash chain them."

Did he really expect us to fight waves and waves of Silver mobs? Really?! Theres no possible way a group can fight and win against upwards of 10 Silver mobs that are all doing attacks that can hit you for half your health.

"I made it so that Magg has to get to the other side of the Magma field and close to the magmacyte – not just a player.
I fixed what I considered to be a bug/exploit that I introduced through poor planning."

You didnt fix anything. You made it worse. Magg runs through fire and lava and will run off to fight mobs that werent even aggroed. How are we supposed to escort him when his AI is completely suicidal.
I mean, really, truly incompetent.

The rush job, knee jerk reaction "fixes" are ruining the game.

My 75 Warr has 16.3k health with wait for it.... ZERO vitality gear nor Vit traits.  [mod edit]

My level 80 engineer has 20k health...wait for exotic gear [im wearing masterwork gear (green) less than 15 silver for whole set] vitality runes on armor...15 points in vitality traits, but i do have vitality  inscrptions on green rings/necklaces.

Server: Still undecided, I moved to Tarnished Coast from Ferguson Crossing. I might move again to one of the newer servers with low population.

Guild: None

Class: Engineer (With 4 alts)

Level: 40 (level 2,4, 9, 17)

I've played all three betas with a ranger. and in the stress test I played thief. Kind of weird I migrated to engineer, but I like the pace of an engineer. It's very versatile.

As the title says.

What did GW2 Truly Innovate for this game? You cant say DE because Rift has those.... so what is it that GW2 has that no other game has?

If you read my thread, you would say otherwise.  [Basically a time line]

I would sy overflow servers is what no other mmo has right now.

Oh my, I still wonder how many people read the OP?

Maybe I misread it but I swear it seems as if the OP is saying they where not copying each other at all O.O

I think it's how he formatted it.  Not sure if intentional, but I think it was.

I mean his tl:dr pretty much states that what he mean is that they haven't copied each other.

I think he should of went with a better title.

Yah, that was my intention. "They were not copying each other". I would agree with you Rizel, I should've came with a better title.

[Edit] Yah its a late post.

So far, i haven't had any problems and haven't received one phishing email yet.

Some blame should go to A-Net for not having authenticaters at lauch, but most of the blame should go to users.

I think its common sense not to use same email address for every single site, but most don't because they're lazy to use different unique passwords and username.

Why its common sense - for example. I got like 7 gmail accounts. I use one for craigslist [I get a lot of junk email], one personal email address. 4 other gmail accounts used for gaming sites. They all have unique username and password. I used my personal gmail account for guild wars 2 and even that has a different password than my gmail account.

TLDR : Use unique passwords and usernames/email accounts

i find the storyline quite good, trouble deciding which course should i take action, dormund, vigil or order of whispers.

"There is an enormous mental shift that this game takes, and the first most important point to realize is that dynamic events in this world aren't called dynamic events because they happen and random places at random times around the world.

They're called dynamic events because they can actually impact the world and depending on their success or failure will trigger other dynamic events. In the starting zones they start off pretty simple. As I understand it from the devs end game interview, by the time you get to Orr they web out significantly.

That random gathering quest you have, or those random monsters that appear at a base? A lot of times those have a real story behind them, and they don't just "show up" before you join in and "go away" afterward. The dynamic quests are there to help build a more immersive dynamic world.

One of the more simple starting examples:

  • In one of the simpler dynamic events you'll find yourself helping out one of the labs in Metrica Province. After you succeed or fail that lab will take the golem they built as a result from your help to fight in the Battleground Plaza. Similarly another lab will have had a comparable dynamic event... depending on which had the better outcome determines which golem wins the fight.

These dynamic events in the area really tell the story of what's going on. If you pay attention to what the NPCs are saying and doing they will actually have dialogs and interactions with each other. They will react to the different outcomes of a dynamic event. Skritt busted the Asura gate an NPC was working on? Stick around and you get to be part of the retaliation party. Someone just attacked a lookout post? There might be a messenger afterwards you can escort to deliver that news.

Once you start getting to the meta chain events then you'll see more long term changes to the environment based on whether players failed or succeeded at helping in the area.

NPCs are a part of this world just like you. There isn't any of that staged fighting where 2 mobs will be swinging at each other for hours on end until you jump in. NPCs will go down, and if they were key to the objective, you will then have to revive them.

All in all, when I hear that "questing" in GW2 isn't very different than any other MMO, for those who believe that, please, please, please tell me the existing MMOs that have immersed "quests" this deeply (not as simple check points and experience hubs) to create more of a living breathing world."

Did he beat the story line or did he just reached 80? I mean just bec he has reached 80 doesnt mean he seen all the game has to offer. In guildwars 1, you can reach max lvl pretty early on but you still got plenty of content before beating the story line.

He only reached level 80. His personal storyline line is only at level 16.

Seems like he power leveled through crafting quite a bit.

My main character is level 17 and I created another alt for crafting and leveled to 15 in few hours just crafting alone.

Levelled up an elementalist to 10 today.

Went in with no prep work at all, no preview read or understooding how GW2 worked.

I have to say, as someone who played EVE, WoW, SWTOR, RIFT, GW2 was a bit complicated for me.

What's that purple currency?

What's the 'combo field'?

Can I 'respec' in terms of my skills later on?

What's a 'bank' and where can I find it? <--- I admit this caught me by surprized as I couldn't mail my alts anything.

None was explained to me so while I am fumbling my way through, a tutorial section would have been really nice.

Game itself is good, enjoyed the heck out of it.

I can definitely see some issues for new players (esp if they come from WoW) though. Yeah, WoW is WoW, but they have a ridiculously good tutorial that is beyond every MMO out in the market right now.

Honestly, I don't know who missed this, but there is this annoying blinking tab top left - "hint section" that gives you all the answers you'll need. the tab blinks when yyour character is created or when hint popup shows up.

Show us the pic or it didn't happen. i can't really take some of these threads seriously
