I dont like 100% root at all.

Example of what I like is,

a powerful spell root you, a medium spell slows you and a weak spell dont hurt your movement at all.

If it a guy with a bow then, normal shots dont hurt your movement, but likes marskmen shots where ya hit certain points to do high damage stops your movement.

These are just examples of the way I like it.

Plus I was so hoping NW would be a game for me, well one down.

I am on a teir 2, server and wait times already 10mins+ for WvW and in busy times can be over a hr.

Hopefully this dont make it even harder to get into WvW.

I love pretty much all of the elder scrolls games, but not look to deep into this MMO that will be comming out.

I got about 1,500hrs in gw2, so I am fine with no raids.

I love morriwind,oblivion,skyrim,,,,,,,,,,,,, So I am eally hoping for this to be a epic MMO....

I play WoW for about 1-2months years ago and then was so bored I deleted everything on the account and the game off my computer and then toss out the game.

Is what you're suggesting is that MMO's need a new model that addresses the points you've mentioned because what you've said is a very big statement considering many mmo's impliment a number of these points. Can you provide alternatives to your 12 point summation?

Sure.

1) Make leveling in groups about 2x as fast as soloing. Force people to become social. Communities will be much better if you teach players to be nice to eachother from the start (and if they aren't they will have to resort to soloing which is slower)

2) Make games challenging. Let players fail / die / wipe / lose if they are playing poorly. Don't design the whole game around bad players with no patience. Make the world feel dangerous and scary, not a kids playground.

3) Cash shops are cool as long as they aren't P2W.

4) No interactive minimaps/maps. Static maps that have to be explored fully are fine. No "you stepped into that zone = we will show you every single point of interest / town / dungeon etc". The more information is on the minimap/map the more time I am watching them and not my surroundings (Immersion breaking). GW2 the worst culprit in this. I remember playing GW1 back in the day and being amazed at how beautiful the graphics are. GW2's are better but I could not appreciate them because all I was looking at was my minimap/map.

5) AH = Auction House = no interaction between players = shit community. Give me a trade channel that can be turned on or off (PoE does this well)

6) Give me a /lfg channel. No 1-button cross-server automatic group + porting to the dungeon. It is immersion breaking and community destroying. 

7) I just hate instances. They break immersion and are horribly boring since they are predictable. Give me non-instanced dungeons, where you encounter other groups of players, sometimes team up with them, and on PvP servers fight with them for a good spot / boss kill (and sometimes even strike a deal with them "give us 20 gold and we will let you live")

8) daily quests feel like a job, not a game.

9) flying mounts will die with WoW so I don't even have to defend my opinion

11) This is the main reason F2Ps are the future of gaming. We have been lied to too many times to believe your shit devs/fanboys! From now on we will try your game for free and IF it is as good as you say we will pay subscription or buy stuff from your cash shop. 

12) Proper F2P or GTFO. You can still get money from F2P players if you have a good  game and a good cash shop.

However number 4 where you talk about gw2, only the basic stuff is mark.  All of the really hard locations or the best locations are never mark.  So yes it be cool if none of it was mark, however at lest they made the coolest places, where ya gotta find them.

Farcry=80hrs,, oblivion over 4 years=500hrs,,,skyrim=100hr,,,ac 3= 50hrs, ff13=70hrs... and all I got for 60 dollars....

Now gw2=1342hrs so far,,, so yes I would buy it in a heartbeat again.

Gw2 expansion is my main thing I want.

However,  going to try TESO out.

I like gw2 system, however for most it a zerg. Because 2 reasons,

First with their system it is possible to work together, hell you can do really awesome things if done right. With 2 Mesmers you can keep all buff perma up, if done right.  However, because their no YOU MUST DO THIS,,,, people get confuse and so it turn into a zerg. Since it take's a lot more communication to do team work in gw2. Which only people who have teamspeak and know each other well can do it right.

Second they made dgns and such way to freaking easy, and so it not needed and when something not needed people dont use it.  Dgn are to the point that a fullly dps team, with no support are tanking abilities can beat them.

Hell I can solo multy dgns and I know a dps warrior that can solo dgns.

So this is a major problems, now the higher lvl fract can make it where a team gotta use some teamwork to beat it. However, those are the only things.  This needs to be fix, make it where dgns are extrmely hard. At first people will cry and some will elave the game. However, team work among the players will start to apper.

I just hit the 1k hr game play mark not to long ago, and still plaqying strong.

Which, is weird for me because i play a mmo for 1 week-2weeks and then get tired and leave. Did it with WoW,Rift,Gw1, and so many other MMOs. 

I am doing the jps, fractals, WvW, DE, DGN,exploring(finding weird places) Funny thing Is I dont even got map completion yet.

Well reading some of your post history i would say he has a point.  You even accuse someone of sucking because they don't match up to your standard of PVP.

 

Giving the game a ten for social has got to be the biggest joke of the whole write up. And please stop going on about your 1000  hours played, i played up to level 80 which is more than enough to know as much as you about the game.

First no you should never make a review are anything about a game, until you play every system in it. Which this game have a ton of, however over 70% of the gameing content is miss. Since must of it is hidden and have nothing pointing it out. Only the vistas and such have symbols.

Second sorry but no you can get to lvl 80 on a char without doing much of anything. getting to lvl 80 is nothing. Exploring the game and doing the content is something. In this game getting to lvl 80 means nothing about what you done.

Which even now I not done any where near all teh content, not done all the jps and so on.

In my opinion the build options and class balance were the biggest thing wrong with this game and they should really have somewhere between 0 and 2/10. The warrior was the only fully functional profession in beta and that STILL hasn't changed.

Not true all class's have failure in their traits and such, however not to the point of being broken. I can make a build where I can kill any other class on any class.

THe problem is they buffing it wrong way, so that on each class their only one build that anyone will want to play.Because any other build would take work to do right and no one wanna do that.

It it was to the point of a class being broken, then it be much lower, it jsut to the point of being annoying. However, it can be fix. However, even know I know at lest 3 different working builds for each class, it just needs to be a lot more and once the traits and such are fix their will be.

However, think you for being the only person who did not attack me, even through I said this was my Impression of the game. Not it was fact and on top of that I did not give it that high of rating.

Let me say first, sorry I am bad at english.

EDITE saying this since people have brought it up, yes on here all I talk about is gw2. However that because thats all I use this forums for. It the only mmo I am playing right now(other then ps2, but I only do that maybe 3hrs a week). My news letter from here I check everyday and if I see a gw2 subject I like I go and post. I got other forums for other things. However this forums is only about gw2. 

The Story is 6/10

Dont mind the voice acting or anything like that. What bothers me is the story line it self.

Which even here got some side small things off to the side that is funny to do are read. So it not completely bad, just the over all story is really bad and so I cant give it a good rating. However, pretty fun to play at a lot of parts.

Dynamic Events 7/10

They may improve on this in the future, but as of right now a lot of them dont live up to what I was hoping or would like.

Like the dragons attack, should not be on a timer and should only come when you have done tons of DE that kicks out all of the dragons minions on the map. He should come as a last resort. Then a timer on him, where if not killed fast enough he holds you off long enough for his minions to regroup and start attacking multy towns. Which, then you gotta not just focus on him but keep them for taking over the places are they build things like siege weapons to bomb you with.

Maybe not that epic, but should have been done a lot better.In the end major DE should not be on a timer, they should happen because of what players have done. While smaller DE, for doing side things. Thats cool to be on a timer. 

Also they should terrible things if you lose a DE, not just a woops to bad. Now something already have this. but they seem to scare to really go all out for this.

DE are fun, but in the end they did not truly go far enough with them.

Aesthetic 8,5/10

I dont do graphic rating, because they nothing but a servent to the Aesthetics of the game. I love it, maybe not the best Ive seen but I love to explore(go into this more detail in next part). I like going places and just staring off. They really well done, and invisble walls are hard to find and place with them they explain pretty well.  Not seen a single invisble wall that was like no reason ya cant go their. 

Exploring(9/10)

Yes a lot of stuff is mark on map. However, you should still explore, Ive found seceret side places that is out right beutiful and yet. Nothing is mark anything about it. Also climb up high places like a tower in CF, that was not mark, but it gave a wonderful view. I have no doubt only a handful actually found the tower or thought of climbing it. So I saw something not many have seen.

Also their finding the jps, which are not mark and fun as hell to do. I just love them so much.

Mini games(7,9/10) 

this would be higher, since I love the jps so much. However, they was suppose to have 30 mini games all spread out in the different main cities to spread out the population. Yet they still do not have it and until they do, this score will stay at it is.

Combat (9,2/10)

Ive never like the holy trinity, I hate being stuck to one role. Which is why Ive already play games like Domo, where ya could at lest combine things and be a semi good tank with a magic class.

However, with this I can be a Mesmer and in Dgns keep all mobs off my party and keep them all pulled into one small area so it easy for my team to take them out. Are with Mantraheal and shatter heal with null field and some other support utilities.I could be a major support class or could be a dps. Also can combine different ones to make hybrids.

This is not perfect, balancing problems and buffing things that make people wanna do dps and ignor the rest while nerfin support and tank roles.

So they mess it up here and their, but they also fix it when they do(at lest so far).

Also I see people say, well it a mess all it is, is a zerg fest.

I can see how people may think that, because those who arent very good cummonication, it can become that. However, my group use combo field, we combine are different skills to keep perma buffs on and control mobs perfectly. We have dps/support/tanks and bybrids in the group and we all work together. It rare for any of us to get a down even we own ass big time. Because we have really good team work, because in this game you need it. However, with out someone holding your hand a lot of people fail at team work and thats where the zerg fest comes in.

builds(7,5/10)

This could be a 9 one day, if they get it working better. However, as of right now they got a lot of useless traits all around and traits that should not be grandmaster and others that should be and is not. Also tons of bugs and such and lets not forget it not balance right.

I use Mez as a example again with builds, the shatter build should not be the end all of everything. However, they keep trying to force people to be nothing but that with these buffs to it.

It almost as if they wanna make only one build for the mez in the end. Still of course tons of good builds, but it worries me for the future. Also they force you to go into trait lines that are useless for you. Like it gives cd bonus, which you dont use any cd skills, and yet traits in the line that is for power builds. In the end those traits should be in the power build line and power build line should not have cd build trait in them.(this is a very basic explanation and got flaws in it, but dont wanna explain it all)

As of right now I still got tons of build choices on all of the class's and can still make weird, but awesome new builds. However, need to work on the bugs and the trait lines and also need to stop trying to force people into playing only one build. 

Because the awesome mix in the end of builds, is what make it fun. 

Skill(8,5/10)

Yes have crazy skill bar is fun, however this is pretty fun in it own way. I love the skills base on your weapon and the utilities. I never got a single useless skills, I am always using all of my skills and I keep switching out utilities in dgns for different mobs. I use a total of 11 different utilities. 

Social (10/10)

I know must will not agree with me here, but Ive never had a problem. Got a long list of friends, I have tons of people always whispering me to do stuff with them or to even just hang out somewhere.

Only thing I will say to add is dgn finder, so not everyone in LA, but this to get people to spread out(which is also I want the mini games to be put into the game already)

WvW (7/10)

It fun, but dnt do it a lot.  I got ideals of how to improve. However over all it a good system, that just need a lot more added to it. For it to really shine.

Also not the best pvp, had much more fun on other games. However, this is because of the modes and such. BEcause the actually pvp is fun, just not the way it done. Well I hope they improve upon this. However, again nothing bad to say about it, they just need to imrpove it.

I find the game very immersive. I typically only quick travel when logging on and before logging off, unless I need to meet up with guildmates some where. The zones are massive and I spent about 10 hours, split over two days, completing one of the level 70-80 zones. The zones are beautiful and well designed. I also regularly return to lower level zones I like and once the goal of zone completion is out of the way, I can spend days just doing my own thing there. Sometimes I focus on a region, rather than a zone, doing a patrol circuit, gathering and doing all the DEs I stumble across. The brief zoning is a tiny blip that I don't even register any more.

I've logged over 570 hours since launch. I still have zones I haven't seen. Tons of hidden locations I know exist, refuse to use spoilers to find and haven't seriously starting looking for yet. In an era where most MMOs are lucky to provide 40-80 hours of game play before transitioning to end rgame raid progressions, GW2 is a huge breath of fresh air and by far the best value in the genre.

As to combat, yeah, controlled encounters can feel a bit repetative in that most professions can handle routine encounters with a set routine of a small number of skills and the occassional dodge, (along with a lot of movement. If you aren't moving most of the time in GW2 combat, you probably aren't doing it right). The combat shines when the unpredictable happens, with adds or a tougher mob than you were expecting. Rather than sticking to a set routine, the player is usually forced to open up the full toolkit of skills available to them, really pay attention to the timing of their dodges and move skillfuly.

Even as a level 80 with Exotic Gear who can solo very tough level 80 encounters with some skill, tactics and strategy, I still find myself taking a dirt nap while running around in a lower level zone because I failed to pay attention or underestimated the difficulty of a situation, or just because I didn't notice a roving patrol until it was too late. That's what I love about this game.

If I start to get bored with the combat dynamics of my profession, I'll change up my weapon choices, or my build and learn to master a different way of doing things. A Dagger/Dagger thief plays a good deal different than a Sword/Pistol thief or a Shortbow thief, even with in the same trait build. In other games, I may have 30 skills to juggle, but if I want to significantly change the way combat plays out, I probably need to role a new class, since talent trees usually offer very few play altering options. GW2s professions also play very differently from each other. Profession choice and weapon/build options provide many dozens of mainstream options for people to fit a particular playstyle, with many viable fringe builds on top of the more recognized options.

The world here is massive. World vs. World PvP and Structured PvP are fun and compelling. There is a lot of dungeon content for those who like those things.

IMO, the live content updates so far have been a mixed bag, but I mostly appreciate what they are trying to do, even if they haven't always succeeded. I disagree with some recent additions to the game, but there is so much to do here I can afford to skip things I don't like or just don't care to be a part of. I'm hoping that future content additions will be a little more balanced. (Less "end game" and more World Content). I like the sound of the hype Colin has put forth, but given the many ways the relatively modest November Event failed, or the sparsity of content in the new mini-zone, I have to be a bit skeptical about a pair of updates promising to add "a full expansion's worth of content" to the game. I'll believe it when I see it. :)

Ive got entire zones that ive not gotten to and I got close to 900hrs.

 

900 hours is 37 days of nonstop play.  I would not consider that casual.  I'm just pointing this out because you are obviously a hardcore fan for putting in that amount of time.

There's nothing wrong with that, it's just that extreme views often blind themselves to others.

 

Not a fanboy through, I hated gw1 stop it in less then 2weeks of gameplay.ArenaNet did not like much and still not on my fav list of devs. Their is multy things that they done that piss me off and other things that I believe should have been done before launch even. Also their is systems in the game that is no where near to my liking.

I'm the type that spends 2 weeks on a mmo and then get bored as hell of it, because of it over last 6 years play more mmos then I can remember.

However with all of it faults, I still like gw2 weirdly.

I dont understand why I like it so much, only got it on a off chance that it be fun was not expacting much at all.

Also I see tons of problems and flaws in it, however so far never had have as much fun as ive had in this mmo in any other game. It keeps me comming back, I love the dgns,, beating them 2 men with dub is fun as hell. Fractals are awesome, I love the jps,, I love finding things on map thats not mark. Like this gaint tower in caldron forest, from the top of it ya can see entire map, it not mark and hard to find and then hard to figout how to get to top.

Their nothing their but it epic being ontop of it. It like my own little spot. I want the 29 mini games spread in all the major cities to be put in already, among other things. 

In the end it got a long ass way to go, however I feel great playing it and watching it change.
