As far as subjectivity is concerned everything we are discussing here is subjective but that doesn't mean you can make ridiculous statements and get away with it only because you are being subjective just like when people use 'IMO tags.

Fine, I'll be nice and explain it to you. Opinions are subjective. As anything that's subjective they cannot be FALSE, which is an objective term.

On the other hand Graphical quality ganted by an engine is NOT subjective. It's a matter of numbers. the texture resolution supported, the effects implemented, the count of polygins, that's not a matter of opinion.

Art Direction is subjective, but as great you think the art direction of the upcoming games you listed is, it will always be limited by the limitations of the engine. On the other hand an engine with an higher output can have areas, equipment and assets with a better art direction added at any time.

I would really like to know from where are you getting your so called facts? you seem quite sure that Tera and GW2 will be limited by its engine limitations? and no they both look like usual Korean MMO fare is not a valid reason, hell this reasoning doesn't even make sense.

GW engine was developed by Anet from scratch and they have nothing to do with Korea or Korean MMOS what so ever. Also if graphics are pleasing to eyes and runs well on your machine an average player could care less for all the techincal blabbering. And both Tera and GW2 look good and run well and releasing with amazing gameplay right out of the box.

Everything that you said regarding polygon  and texture reslution is still an opinion unless you have some insider information regarding TERA and GW2 engines and their future limitations but you do not.

Not "back into" because it was never there, but rather to introduce single player RPG mechanics into the world of MMORPG's. There is a difference.

Now as I expressed my dislike for this move, because the topic itself asks "do weapons restrictions bug you", and gave my reasoning for disliking it.

So you are telling us that single player RPG experience in MMOS has not existed for all this time?

Not in large scale, no. Unless you try to claim games like Neverwinter Nightsand their persistent worlds were MMO's which they were not. Some aspects were utilized here and there, but never has a game on such a scale tried to emulate the single player RPG experience as SWTOR, (for better or worse).

I don't understand what you mean on a large scale because every MMO that i have played since EQ2 had very large scale single player experince. Only because you are gven your own personal instance doesn't make it any more single player than running around solo in open world. You are still soloing and questing alone with few group quests sprinkled here and there. All recent MMOS can be soloed all the way to the level cap and are full of single player quests and storylines.

Soloing in an MMO is not the same as a single player RPG experience. In fact most single player RPG's have given you companions (something SWTOR is repeating though not the first to introduce). The single player RPG experience is tailored in such away as to make story the fundemental movement of the game. UO and EQ had minimal stories and the stories they had were unintrusive, even EQ2 stories did not fundementally change the character or game world the character played in (save for maybe the betrayal line of quests to swap factions).

SWTOR is attempting to swing the paradigm in the opposite direction. Personally I think it swings too far because story now restricts the character to such a degree that many interesting choices (yes potential gimps too) are removed from the table in an effort to streamline everything. As was stated by Barezz this is a case of the Dev's beliving they know the best choices for us to make in our characters. As an adult I feel a tad offended by this.

So its more like refinement of single player MMO experince and not introduction because it already exists. Even Rift has a personal storyline which goes all the way till the end. Yeah it might not be presented in the same way as SWTOR but it is still quite fundamental and important to the storyline and more of RIFT.

I also hope that it doesn't evolve into sandbox. I am looking for an action game  just the way original was. Also all the features that you mentioned in OP are implemented in themeparks too. I think you mean more like a hybrid sandbox?

There is no such things as perfect MMO, yes not even GW2 will be perfect.  I think a lot of players are just setting themselves for disappointment when they look for perfection.

Bingo. Living and dying in front of PC is a sad waste of life.

Got to be the most original post so far on WOW forums i think. Reference to hello Kitty online, back handed insults at the entire player base and gross generalisations...yep never read any of the before.

I read your original post and it was juvenile at best. And no forums is not for positive opinions only 1) but no one shoudl try to pass their opinions as facts. As far your deductive skills to analyze info? lol i had to laugh at that one. That is a more polite way to say 'hey i am still talking out of my a**". Play the game or a demo/trial then give us your opinions in a  mature way without making any reference to sh*t/poop etc and some one might take you seriously.

1) Good thing noone did then. Unless you've somehow managed to find a way to turn an opinion on a subjective matter into fact.

2) if you aren't capable of making deductions on a game from demos, interviews on content and game mechanics etc it's ok. Nothing to be ashamed of, or laught at others that can to make you feel better. Pay and play then make your judgement if that's your thing.

I'll give my opinion anyway i see fit (moderation willing) and the only person i am concerned abou taking it seriously is myself...

You seem quite confident of your deduction skills that game is going to suck. So forgive me if it is hard to take your opinion merely as an opinion. Also your opinion is based on hersay and what you have read or seen not what you experinced first hands. And even if want to arrive at a conclusion on basis of all info avilable on internet, it would be fairly positive. But atleast i am not trying to shove that down everyone's throat now am i?

MMO or Singleplayer the game is bland boring and average in every aspect, so who cares if some consider it a Multiplayer game... others a MMORPG... and some others a singleplayer game.

Shit tastes the same no matter what colour your claim it is.

So , I guess you played it extensively, because else you know you're talking out of your ass, right?

And hey, you also know that not everything that you like is mana from heaven and that what you don't like is trash? I mean, I suppose you're not dense enough to believe something like that; if you don't like what you see of SWTOR, fine, go look for something that does rock you off your socks, stop following things that you don't like anyway. There's a whole range of things that I suppose you don't like and don't follow the news of as well, I suggest you add SWTOR to that list as well.

Why don't you stick to arguing pointless schemantics (like Multiplayer or Singleplayer), which you are so much better at.

Are you implying that you have played it extensively to know better? So why do you have to quote other's statements about it? Does it have anything to do with you being the numero uno SWTOR Fanboy which pretty much means your credibility is zero.

At least i feel secure in my average deductive skills to analyze the info i have on this game... info i have been provided by the developers from blogs, interviews, demos etc to make my own judgement of the game which is Boring, Bland, Average. Don't need to quote some random dude that also finds the game generic to the point of pulling out your eyeballs to reinforce my opinion.

So if i liked the game and had posted something like: This superb, immersive, well thoughout and totally massive mmo is one of the best games coming in 2012. I am sure you would have quoted me again to post what you said in your last paragraph.... riiiiiiiiiiiiight, because that juvenile argument really doesn't go both ways.... no siree surely doesn't... and forums are for people with positive opinions only! Gotcha!

Video is ok but then again i hate underwater questing and combat in MMOS.

So i havent played in like 6 months. I was emailed a 7 day trial to try the new patch. When i logged in i saw people running around with Balloons attached to them. I was like WTF!  Has this game really come to this? all this fluff for the little kids. I just dont get it.

Balloons really in this type of a game? This game and all of its catering to the 10 year olds is not for me. Thank God it was a 7 day trial.

Whatever happened to having fun? video games in itself is something which are pre-dominantely for kids. It is ok to play vodegames being an adult but you have problems with balloons? do you scoff at grown ups who enjoy disnleyland too?

yes....the castle in Disneyland sucks...same in Disney World.

Sir you need to enjoy life a little and laugh as much as you can. life is too short.

In environment, artstyle, atmorsphere TSW is top notch. If i have to chose an over all winner then TSW surely beats GW2 and TOR. No competiton here. I am big Lovercraft fan and i can see his influence everywhere in the environments.

Really. Just stay away from it. I was dumb enough to let some friends talk me into coming back. You know "oh look so much changed" trash.

You know, Rift is in a way the end and the lowest common nominator of MMOs. Look at UO, EQ and SWG to see how it began. As a vast, complex idea with many many subsystems. Especially these days as SWG closes, you see what a vast collection of systems a MMO once was. And it seems as if with each new MMO, what was a MMo was less and less. Until Rift is the most minimal definition. Kill stuff. That's it. Yes it has crafting. But I'll be damned it THAT is crafting at all! It's just some figleaf replacement for crafting! There is really NOTHING but kill X of Y. It is the finality and ending of the downward spiral. A spiral greatly accelerated by WOW.

You see, all Trion adds now is a copy of the same event. Find 7 of X in Sanctum as daily and exchange it for shells, coins whatevers. Every invasion is exactly the same. And no matter how they rename the "events" it is always the one same mechanic of kill/gather X of Y. Nothing else. The vastness of game possiblities of SWG or UO is a forgotten shadow now. And while games like LOTRO at least had SOME other stuff to do than kill kill kill.., this has nothing else. No peaceful planting of crops, no housing, no music system, nothing. People only run run run and kill kill kill. I really LOATHE this development. And you see, whereas LOTRO and WOW added these "token collection" way to waste the time of players with minimal effort after they had CONSIDERABLE other content, Rift starts it already, when it is new and while Rift is VERY small and limited content wise. And what do they add?  A raid many won't ever see and another token collection quest. Copy paste copy paste.

And the rest? Nothing to write home about. And handful of dungeon you grind OVER and OVER and OVER called "endgame" and one of the damn WORST PVP I have seen in some time. FOUR arenas with all the letdowns arena PVP always has. (Meaning, it sucks. Only OPEN world pvp is real. Why it has none like castle sieges or what is beyond me.) THIS cheap PVP could be stitched together with an editor by a few programmers in a long weekend!

I am so disappointed by this game. It is SO dull with it's endless hectic, like in Tabula Rasa, there is no rest, no calm story moments, no civilization you FEEL you want to fight for, nothing. Just endless spawns of Rifts tossed at you. Always the same drill. I am so done with these kill focussed MMOs, where essentially killing things ALL THE DAMN TIME is the ONLY thing there! I don't WANT that! I want MMOs like SWG! Like UO! WORLDS, not some frigging kill park!

Sigh. Maybe Arch Age can bring that back, since I kinda doubt SWTOR or GW2 will be anything but kill kill kill with a nice wrap around.

Sorry if that offends you, but I just realized Rift is just a very simplistic and mediocre game. I am just tired wasting my time on trash. Shiny wears off fast. And there is just no fundament to remedy it. Not at all.

Well first I'd like to apologise in advance as this post will seem harsh, but I feel I need to tell you this, without sugar coating it, for your own good.

How many times do you need to stick your hand in a fire before you learn not to get burned, Elikal?

First you decide the game sucks in beta and won't play. Fine that is your choice more power to you.

Then for some reason you dicide to play any way. Unsuprisingly you decide again the game sucks and feel the need to come here and complain your head off why the game sucks and why you are quitting.

Now against all logic here you are again, first blaming others for your own impulse control issues, and lack of good judgement when it comes to MMOs, and second, filling the forum with more pointless "this game sux" posts that we've heard from you time and time again.

Enough is freaking enough. What you like or dislike, and what you decide to play or not play is completely your business. However if you can't find the self discpline to avoid games you don't like when you should already know better, please stop coming here and bending our ear about it. You have flip flopped on this game so many times your opinion of it is completely inconsequential. Anything else you have to say is just self serving drama, which has no place on these game discussion forums. If you want to share your every thought with the world, I'd advise you start your own blog page, and leave the game forums to those of us who want to discuss the game itself and not just to publicly air our newest meltdown.

This is exactly how i felt after reading OP's post. Why to scream and cry when you stick your hand in fire on purpose? even though you know you are going to get burned..yet again. One of the main reasons why i never take his posts seriously, neither should you or anyone else for that matter.

Ok i lost all interest in GW2 ;). I am sick of fantasy MMOS anyways.

All I have to say is its cryptic,  they already had their last chance,  never winter is not an mmo and its going up in flames just like everything else they have touched in the past few years.

Honestly I don't know why anybody would let cryptic touch anything at this point.

Not all succesful online games are  MMOS and Cryptic made it clear first day that NWN is not an MMO. Infact not making a traditional MMORPG at this juncture of their career would be the best move.
