Your rhetoric is as fallacious as Tasos'.

PS. have you played that game?  Your decrying lacks substance and is not worth reading.

PS. Check the link from the OP and you will see it was written by a beta tester who played the game.

I totally agree with you about this forum only being a cesspit for troll haters, I can hardly even remember the last time I saw a fan make a post or when this site even had a single interview or review about the game, the community is totally different on the official forums.

Hopefully it wont be a case of good luck getting in game everyone, tomorrow.

LMAO alpha?  This game in its' currrent forms if far beyond any game on the market.

PvP just has a few balancing issues with pots and damage.  the pvp is probably the absolute best I have played in a mmorpg including UO.

Casuals won't like this game, it is very focusses on guilds and communities.  However, if you want to do hella fun pvp, pve and crafting DF will deliver.  The crafting is boring as hell, no more boring than crafting in any mmorpg though.  The crafting system is pretty much a copy/paste of UO which isn't that bad, but still wish they had made it better.

The world isn't that empty.  It does feel empty because there are lots of camps and things that we are conditioned by games like WoW to expect monsters at, UO had lots of empty buildings in the middle of nowhere as well.  You can find spawns besides goblins/trolls within 10 minutes of starter cities.  From my exploring you can probably find mobs within 10 minutes of any point on the land part of the map.

Here is one of my posts from my guild forums where I was compiling key locations(coordinates are deleted:

Mahirim:
Points of Interest:
 W  S
W  S Kinda far away, giant treehouse
 W  S
W  S

Spawns:
W S Ghosts, some kind of magic, possibly mana missle

Dwarves
Points of Interest:
 W  S
W  S Castle up on top of mountain, kinda far away

Spawns:
" W  S Eodrin, scary looking insect with what sounded like powerful magic
W  S Shadow knights by a dragon skeleton

Orks:
Points of Interest:
 E  S
 E " S

Spawns:
E " S Raven Standard Veterans, bows and melee, might be a kind of goblin

As you can see there are lots of points of interest.  I didn't write a description for all of them.  Some of them I just saw in the distance.  I was travelling and NPCs in DF are actually dangerous so I tried to avoid conflict.  These are camps and things that I would have suspected had spawns if it was WoW.

If you think this game is still in alpha then don't buy it.  If you want to play the best game on the market then you should try it.  If you like Oblivion or Rune combat system, then you will like DF's combat system.

"This game in its' currrent forms if far beyond any game on the market."

"If you want to play the best game on the market then you should try it."

Seriously (are you being serious?) if your going to attempt to dispute this review please at least try to make it plausible.

Again another person who apparently seems to disagree with this review but who then just goes on to repeat and confirm many of its negative criticisms anyway, are you actually reading the review because it appears as though you actually agree with most of it anyway.

So crafting is "boring as hell" and "is pretty much a copy/paste" and you "still wish they had made it better."

Casual players "wont like the game"(I wonder why , anything to do with the  time sinks, grinding, exploiting, macroing and griefing involved?)

Game is heavily focused on guilds (that's no surprise, is it even possible to do much of anything except the basics without one)

PvP the games main feature and possibly most important and apparently its entire purpose "still has balancing issues" (are these the everyone spaming LMB and running around like a headless chicken firing blue circles at each other untill they run out of stamina and get ganked issues?"

Apparently "The world isn't that empty" (oh dear) but "It does feel empty because" people have been "conditioned" by games like WoW to expect monsters" (what about the people who dont play WoW?) but it can take up to 10 mins to find monster spawns, and there are many points (looks like just a few to me) of interest (according to you) that might not be empty and might actually have monsters some of which you have only seen from a distance and not actually visited to confirm if they are genuine points of interest yet or not, but its not empty!

"However, if you want to do hella fun pvp, pve and crafting DF will deliver."

Care to explain exactly how this pvp is a hell of a lot of fun? despite its "balancing issues", and how exactly Darkfall delivers in PvE when there are apparently so few monsters to be found and the advanced Mob AI is getting such mixed opinions, and how crafting which you yourself described as "boring as hell" has deliverd in anyway what was promised in the official FAQ for example.

Poor Polar, another one of the Hardcore trolls playing on his last string.

Stop making stuff up in ur head.

No "fanboy" ever said the features left out of Darkfall was "carebear" we said they where not KEY features.

This is the KEY part of Darkfall features:

Full loot FFA pvp. CHECK.

FPS style combat. CHECK

Massive magic system, melee and Archery. CHECK.

The Ability to craft almost any item in the game. CHECK.

Player housing, in the form of guild towns. CHECK.

The ability to craft and use boats of various sizes. CHECK.

Intelligent mob AI. CHECK.

Mounts. CHECK.

And when u have all that, u have a good MMORPG.

Did they promise more ?

well lets see, movable mob spawns may or may not be in the game, a fog system, would have been nice but who cares.

NPC hirelings, and tamed mobs, again would have been nice I guess, hardly important.

Nothing KEY about any of those features.

As for the player housing, we know guilds can place towns, and we know they will be able to place certain buildings in those towns at launch, however MORE is coming, and that is a good thing, it didnt make it to launch but we are getting a more expansive housing system, which I think alot of ppl are looking forward to.

I am at least. But does the lack of this at launch means the game is in alpha? Are u on crack ?

Lastly u claim the boats arent affordable, have u EVER played an MMO?

The economy WILL inflate, EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS, this always happens in all MMOs.

So those boats u claim arent affordable, give it two months.

-Darkstar

What you are describing sounds just like a "a bare-bones alpha release of a FPS game with a few RPG aspects and a dead and empty world", without any "fluff" features at all with nothing much else to do other then PvP or Grind / Macro so you can PvP whilst you hope that many of the promised features and content cut or unfinished for release will be added "soon".

So why don't you explain exactly what you disagree with about this review (I presume you did actually read it, perhaps you did not?), or do you actually agree with it but this is all that is needed to qualify as a "good" MMO by your standards?

I did not type this I just thought it was one of the best posts and reviews of the game for people who are looking for something other then just PvP I have seen in a long time on the official forums, and I know many people interested in the game do not read them.

I thought it would be especially interesting to people like myself  who played previous games like UO and Shadowbane who may of been hoping Darkfall might of been similar or even an improvement on some of those games concepts and features.

 Let's talk about "fluff" features...

Features keep getting cut out. Fanboys continue to spout that "this is a PvP game - those features are carebear! go back to wow n00b!!".

Unfortunately, when you keep taking features out, you eventually end up with what is essentially a FPS game with a few RPG aspects.

Right now, players can amass gold. Some of them can form clans. They can build reputations as feared pks or valiant defenders of the innocent.

Unfortunately, the important features such as an immersive crafting system, player housing, affordable player sailing (i'm talking about small one-mast sailboats), an interesting mount system, animal taming, and various community-oriented features have been left out.

This will leave the game feeling like a bare-bones alpha release. There is simply too much missing from the world. If players ONLY want pvp and don't care about anything else, do you think they'll be playing a MMO? No. It's much more likely they'll head over to Counter Strike, or even Guild Wars, where you're easily able to create a max level character and start PvPing.

But you say, PvP means nothing in guild wars and it means something in darkfall because darkfall has full loot and guild wars does not. I agree with you here. PvP is much more fun when you actually have something to gain by killing the other person. For the record, there's much to gain for being skilled at PvP in guild wars, but I won't go into that here. Spend even 20 minutes researching the game and you'd know about the various rewards and progression.

Now let's get to the issue of full loot. Full loot is an amazing thing. In UO, it worked wonderfully. Of course, they eventually started adding "blessed" stuff, and then they even introduced "item insurance" (which - btw - didn't work for shit. "insurance" should mean that your loot still drops, only you're reimbursed. it didn't drop at all). Shadowbane had partial loot, such that everything in your pack could be looted, but nothing you had equipped. PvP was very meaningful in shadowbane, arguably moreso than anything else in the game.

So, to say that full loot implies that PvP has meaning, it must follow that the loot you expect to be acquiring from your victims is actually worth something. This is where Darkfall is confused. There's nothing really of value to loot from anyone. Sure, you can loot their armor, but we've heard many times that armor and weapons won't be very difficult to obtain. We don't want this to become a game where pvp skill is determined by the items you're wearing rather than your actual skill. Or, perhaps you end up looting someone's gold. Great. Now you can buy more armor and potions to pvp more.

The point is, if you ONLY want to PvP, you shouldn't be playing this game. You shouldn't be playing any MMO. You should be playing a game that lets you PvP all the time, without worrying about skilling up and acquiring gear. Think about it.

By that logic, everyone playing Darkfall wants more than just PvP. Unfortunately, Darkfall has managed to offer little more than PvP, especially for the average player. Certain guilds may be able to acquire Clan Cities and build them up (through an insane amount of grinding, and requiring really no pvp until the city gets seiged), but most players will simply end up with nothing to spend their hard earned gold on, except more pvp.

Darkfall is missing the casual elements that made UO so great. Shadowbane was missing them too, which is why the world always felt so dead and empty (unless of course there was a battle going on). The point is, there needs to be things for PvPers to do, other than PvP. In UO, the best duelists always had a nice house full of trophies and other rares that they'd acquired through duels and other PvP activities. They might sit in town all day showing off their rare items. Let's be honest here, PvP is really about two things: Knowing you're the best, and telling everyone else you're the best.

When a PvPer was bored of PvP, he might hop on his alt character and do some lumberjacking, maybe to build furniture to decorate his house. He might hop on his fisherman and hunt for treasure. Meanwhile, he knew that if someone decided to pk one of his alts, he could hop on his main and destroy them. In fact, some people might back off after simply hearing who his main was.

What I'm trying to say is, there was more for a PvPer to do than just PvP. These other things are what made the world feel like a full and complete environment, something living. I feel like Darkfall is lacking that "alive" feeling.

This is certainly a very convoluted way of presenting repeated failure as a success comparable with WoW, I commend you Sir!

Can't wait to see this limited staged exclusive launch for those lucky 10,000 pre orderer's tomorrow, I'm quite sure it will be just as smooth as you are hoping it will be.

But it will be interesting to see what you come up with tomorrow if its not.

The thing that really puzzles a trolly trolly hater like myself is the general similarity between the issues covered by the paid troll hater lie reviews and the honest truth fan reviews.

The former always seems to be a long list of specific deficiencies and reasons why its not worth the money, the later always seems to be a shorter list of general excuses for those same deficiencies, which are actually features anyway, plus some insults along with a few vague generic paragraphs about how superior full freedom open PvP non linear sandbox's allways are.

With the reminder that this game has tremendous potential purely because of a personal assurance that everything will be implemented fully, improved and fixed "soon", and  that the game is fun and worth the money as it is currently anyway.

So there is only realy a noticeable effect on encumbrance when you carry over the majick number of 50 units of a crafting resources?, but not usable items and equipment or ships and mounts? thanks for clearing that up.

Because ive seen people with absolutely huge amounts of garbage in there packs and it does not seem to have any noticeable effect on movement speed or stamina consumption, not that it really matters when nearly everyone will be macroing resources and/or grinding on Mobs in the safe zones a short distance from the universal banks anyway.

Alright. Thanks for the info.

p.s. I hope those modules stack, hehe.

i dono probly they weigh you down tho ALOT

Sounds reasonable. Considering you' ll be carying the equivalent of a warship on your back :)

Presumably the person and who ever else is helping only have to carry the modules necessary for the guild bank once, after that you can use the universal banking system instead.

I was not aware that Darkfall had a working encumbrance system yet, so far from what I have seen people are carrying huge amounts of items and materials even mounts and ships without any noticeable effect on there movement speed or stamina consumption whatsoever, presumably "I dono probly they weigh you down tho ALOT" is just speculation or perhaps wishful thinking.

Obvious troll is obvious

Behold Darkfalls naval battles in all there awesome glory

No new website?
Not much of anything?

another missed date?

Or is this some kind of wierd "internal" commercial launch?  LOL

This game is beyond hilarious.

Thats about right a internal launch 350k registered on forum for beta around 4k entered beta maybe 2k succeed get a pre-order rest prolly from outside beta becouse AV made sure the pre-order link was leaked.

Now server will have alot of players who almost never followed darkfall and many from around the globe at launch maybe 20%european rest from us or asia.

game not even half finished and no stress test or any major feater have been tested.

Never saw a mmo so badly manage and crap release.

Biggest let down so far even worse launch then AoC.

You are all just pathetic no life troll hater carebears go back to WoW, don't listen to these lies because I say so.

Game is awesome and better then any other but you have to play it to understand why, best shadows ever, huge world that's not empty that's awesome fun to explore BECAUSE YOU MIGHT FIND A TREASURE CHEST, A MONSTER OR AN EMPTY CAVE!, plus some other stuff that's ok that's not a huge grind or time sink, combat is not based on clicking LMB whilst managing stamina and drinking potions whilst running away, all the features I wanted are implemented and I'm happy with them, Monster AI is super advanced awesome not frustrating, goofy and easly exploited at all.

The game its UI, graphics, sounds and animation are only for old school veteran elite hardcore sandbox open PvP gamers, if you don't like it don't play it.

Sheesh, do you guys want them to take more people in than they can hold?  I mean the trolling and hating keeps getting to ridiculously high levels with each new announcement.  If Aventurine had taken more than they can handle, then servers become unstable and crash, and you guys will go whining about the Aventurine scam and the game doesn't even work.   But, instead of doing that, they take orders to meet what they are capable of handling so now they are something totally different and bad, liars or whatever.

Kyleran, a massive troll in the past, is at least posting something smart about this and at least has figured out why Aventurine is doing things a certain way.  However,  I sense some attempts in his posts to bash as well.  The rest of you are just a buncha mindless chimps making grunts and screams at each other, to make yourselves feel good after you got owned in your predictions in the past.

Everything this company does gets trolled to death by misinformation or flat out lies by haters and trolls.  This company, who doesn't come close to the same level as Turbine in deceit, has done nothing to warrant any of this stupidity from the haters or trolls.  You all expect them to run as smoothly as a $20 - $30 mil budget studio who has released several MMOs already and has proprietary software already built and ready to go.

It's funny, Turbine gets the studio of the year award, yet have more fails in the MMO industry than any of the major developers.  Yet, if you point to Turbine's flaws you are hammered hard, by many who come to DF and hammer Aventurine for their 'supposed' fail.

Seriously, I'm about done with mmorpg.com.  It's like watching Idiocracy  if it had no funny parts.

Of course you are making the assumption that Aventurine have only allowed the number of people they can definitely handle, some people who have previous experience of Aventurines competency and Darkfalls beta have reason to doubt that they will even be able to handle this relatively small amount adequately.

I'm quite sure even with this low number the server will still be unstable and crash, and there will be problems, and some people who have pre ordered will still be whining about being scammed and the game not even working or not being what was advertised.

And I'm quite sure people like you will still be defending Aventurine with more excuses and insults and will still be claiming you are finally done with MMORPG.com because its full of stupid idiot lying hater pre ordering trolls.

Without jumping the gun I think this early massive demonstration of overwhelming demand and excitement could very well indicate the possibility that we may of finally found the WoW killer.

Will be interesting to see what happens when these 10-15k people attempt to make accounts, log in, patch, and then play Darkfall tomorrow.

- War has 300K subs it's a disaster

- Lotro has 150K it's a disaster

- AOC has 100K it's the end of Funcom

- DFO has 10K maybe 20K subs it's a SUCCESS

GRAPHICS:

- War is awfull what a failure

- AOC has the best graphs but it's too much for computers

- Lotro has poor graphics for chars

- DFO has "classic , oldschool graphs" what a SUCCESS

PREORDERS PRICE ETC

 - WAR, AOC had preorders, what a shame

- DFO has a preorder 24H before the release, 50euro for a digital download, no open beta,  that"s GREAT thx to aventurine: they created the preordering the day of the release what a great concept.

TECHNICAL ISSUES

- WAr has bugs, what a shame

- AOC had a terrible launch, failcom

- DFO has issues even with webpages, preordering, nothing works but its's FINE, all is FINE.

There's NOTHIN we can do for these people, nothing but take popcorns and wait

have fun with your giant pvp empty ffa arena

-Wow doesnt have housing,5 years after release

-aocs forts you have to build in predetermined spots, how lame

-lotro is just a linear quest fest, how lame, its just mobs everywhere

-darkfall lacks houing, has pre determined city placement, lacks content and has a very empty world, great, thats what we always wanted!

-wow,war and aoc have very limited character customisation

-themepark games lock everyone into limited roles, pigeonholing

-wows crafting is a 1 click wonder

-darkfall has a limited amount of faces and hairstyles per race, everyone uses the same skills with little customisation options and the crafting is just a case of putting the items into your bag and clicking a button, great! thats what we always wanted anyway!great success!

Please stop its almost too much to bare, Ironically Darkfall is inferior in nearly every aspect to all these so called failed WoW clones or just as bad or even worse, but that's exactly what we wanted!, what a great success!, Thank you Aventurine!

Is the gap in the walls so you can park your hover tanks?

Seriously though, that must of been an atrocious grind to get the resources to build, how many full time macro'ers does this guild have?

I suppose it does not bother anyone that the first player built city with walls and a harbor is only being tested by a few players a few days before launch, I'm sure that will work out well.

I also had the chance to play DFO last night for 20 minutes... and WOW I'm actually really f'ing impressed also...

Graphics are pretty damn amazing, better then LOTRO's

Best shadows of any game ever

Game play is pretty easy

Controls are pretty good once you get the hang of them

Pretty easy to get gear, even with all the griefing

PvE and PvP is pretty dynamic

Game itself is pretty damn amazing

Game has a bit more grit to it then the standard MMO clones

Game is certainly worth the money

I mocked this game for the last 8 years along with everyone else, but I take back everything now, this game is pretty damn amazing and certainly worth the money.

With only one day left I urge you all to ignore the troll haters and pre order while you still can!, this game is pretty damn amazing and certainly worth the money if you want a bit more grit.

Yep its true, the problem is definitely not anything to do with Darkfall having so many negatives for people to form opinions about, that will all be fixed before launch in 5 days anyway.

The real problem is all the insane people who keep posting their negative opinions about Darkfall's negatives, they should all shut up and pre order, because everything will be fixed before launch anyway,ITS IN BETA!, that's what I think.

I'm so tired of reading all the negative sh*t people are posting about Darkfall, that's why I have been and will continue to read them all.

And why I have made a post about my negative opinions of all the people that post negative opinions about Darkfall telling them to stop posting negative opinions about Darkfall because ITS BETA!

In my opinion only positive sh*t or negative opinions about people who post negative opinions about Darkfall should be allowed, ITS STILL IN BETA!, so pre order.

I commend you for your honesty and integrity to actually finally admit this and tell the truth, I doubt many others who have likewise been promoting this for years will do the same but perhapes they will prove me wrong.

We were all interested in what Darkfall could of been, unfortunately its nothing like we were all told it would be.
