I will be doing a charity stream from 6pm saturday to 6pm sunday PST. I am doing this 24 hour stream to raise donations for team Ethan. 

Ethan is an 8 year old that was diagnosed with Precursor T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. You can check out all the information on facebook.

I would love to have all of you promote the stream so that we can make as many people come and help support team ethan. Currently we have raised over $2k for ethan through rizeupgaming.

Are there Quests?

 You start off with a story quest line which leads you for the first 1-3 hours. After that most of the quest are nopt connected but just spread out. There are random encounters that you get from interacting with people and building relationships with NPCs through gift giving and more. The quests are not like the on rails you may be used to in conventional MMORPGs where you go from hub to hub.

Are there levels, or is it a levelless system?

 There totally are and if anyone says other wise there blind. You level through a system called cultivation. You can level to level 36 in your school and once you hit 30 you can learn the next school skill set. You can also level your skills. In all levels dont mean much, cause you can come up against a "low level" but they ahave high skill levels and they can kick your butt, but you also know that low level has a cap of skill level far below someone higher level. So yes there are levels, they just use names to make it more vague like 'realized potential' which is like lvl 12-16 or something

Is there a skill system? Is it like EVE's?

 Very much like EVE. You can literally set your character online and they will "level" themselves. You do have to do quests and stuff to get experience and over time experience is converted into cultivation and that cultivation is used to level up skills over time. It is much simpler than it sounds, I suggest seeing for yourself.

Is there crafting? How in depth is it?

 Yes its junk

What is the PvP like?

 Generally someone higher level comes and ganks you, or you find someone and gank them. If your lucky you find a even match and its intense. You have attacks, parries, and block. Parry breaks block, block stops attacks, and attacks do alot more damage. You need to rotate through these to be successful in PvP. It is not as skill based as people make it sound to be. Someone that is very high in there level, or cultivation, will pub stomp you if your new. 

Guild/Player housing?

 I am not in a guild so ill skip this one.

Any death penalities (perma death, loos of loot, etc)?

 You lose bound money when you dies and you can pay unbound money to put a warrant on a player that has killed you. bound money can not be traded and is obtained from generally living in the world. Unbound money is only gained from using real money or from trading with players. You lose nothing, and you can res infinite amount of times.

I think that's all the questions I have. Downloading right now, so I'll be trying it regardless of the answers given, but it'd be nice to know ahead of time.

I would just like to finish by saying, I think the game is enjoyable. I like it because I can dictate what I want to do and generally it wil help me level up my character. I like the freedom of just messing around and knowing I am always progressing even if I am not focusing on it. There is alot more that I have not covered here, but you will learn that in time. Most things are to different for me to explain without you experiencing them or it would take me a novel to explain them.

Obviously you were not in the same barrens as me. I played in vanilla so maybe you were not around in my time, but the community in PoE is terrific at worst compared to old barrens chat. WAR - No faction pride. People just complained about a lack of rewards for PvPing.

Only 2 factions

TSW - 3 factions, yet people found another reason to complain on why not they won't PvP.

What did they complain about?

GW2 - 3 severs pitted against each other. No server pride. People just jumped to the winning server.

Granted, it sounds like ESO will be doing things a bit different, but is it enough? DAoC did not allow cross realming on the same server. You picked 1 realm and stuck with it and that people did do. In ESO, since there will be only 1 server, can't people just reroll to another faction if clearly 1 is the stronger? In GW2, the two weakest servers never banded together to overcome the stronger server the way the 2 under dogged realms in DAoC did. I just have my doubts that the community of today will be like the community a decade ago when DAoC was in its prime. I think PvPers will find a reason to complain about the RvR and find a reason why they shouldn't do it. I don't think people will have faction pride, instead I think people will be rolling all 3 factions. 

DAOC had a purpose to realm wars and they had 3 factions. GW2 has 3 "factions" in WvWvW but there is no significance to doing it. Your just there to take a keep that will then be taken by the next guy and so on and so forth, you have nothing to show for it at the end of the day except a small server buff, unlike DAOC skills and farming grounds gained.

I can not recall any TSW complaining about PvP, but I really did not care much for that game so I have no real right to comment on it.

Warhammer had only 2 factions and it had a kinda cool idea, but at the end of the day it was just keep trading because there was a lack of an ability to hold keeps well and there was more benefits for keep swapping then holding. Kinda like GW2.

Not that I like ESO, but it sounds like it is getting closer to the DAOC mark than anyone else has as of yet.

I think this game is fun but I have not been able to get to far so far. I hope they fix this problem, but in the mean time I thought it was really funny that it almost sounds like monsters have the OP skill to crash your game right now. LOL!

Can you think of a monster you know of that has a more OP skill then that?

The problem with this idea is it takes women and men as statistics. I for one fall into the general classification of what you mention for women,but there are some that do not. 

I think about Game of Thrones and Brienne of Tarth. For a woman she is super strong and not so graceful. They do play on her "womanly weaknesses" but overall she is a very strong "manly" woman character. I think to be completely fair everyone should be equal. If you want to be a beefy woman, then so be it! If you want to be a scrawny man, have at it good sir! 

In the end I like choices and diversity, but I believe that having everything equal makes sense. Taking an average just shows you the average, not every individual member. Think about this...would you want to fight some of those body builder girls?

Sometimes it is the professions chosen to play. I can understand this fully - I have my Ranger at lvl 80 without any deaths - by exploring and fighting - left PS alone at lvl 50.

this too. I played Guardian. Enjoyed my guardian, because I wanted a Paladin in GW2 anyway. once I maxed him out and unlocked all my skills, I wasnt going to item grind this time like in other MMO. And none of them had my interest because most of them couldnt play a equal support/healing role like my guardian could, while also having equal option for defense, as well as Melee option. I am getting bored on my engineer. exploring easily leads to areas with mobs that are too powerful and cant be avoided due to server side glitches in the animation/hit detection.

Huh? You unlocked all your classes skills at 30? and maxed him out? You lost all credibility.

Yes games that require group play, rather than solo play generally have fewer childish behavior problems. Yet there are still people in those games behaving poorly. Cliques form naturally and will continue to do so regardless of what artificial boundaries are placed within a game. So people will play with the same group for a long period of time and form a clique. They will be less likely to join a group that does not have at least some of the people from their clique in it. This is only natural human behavior.

Will removing the anonomity of the internet solve the issue of poor behavior? NO! If you want proof of this, everyone has had a job where someone there was always telling inappropriate jokes, wearing inappropriate clothing, failing to wash properly, etc. Did everyone knowing who that person was solve the issue? No, all it did was (unless it was the boss) get the person fired. And that person went on to their next job and repeated their poor behavior. Sometimes, eventually that person learns to modify their bahavior; sometimes not. This is why banning only rarely solves behavior issues in games.

The core of this issue is: we want an environment in which we are comfortable and can have fun. The problem is: as we are all unique individuals we each have different comfort zones and ideas of what is fun.

The saying is as old as the internt: "Don't feed the trolls". And it remains true. Ignore them and they go away; give them the attention they crave and they only create more drama. As far as games go: open world pvp games encourage trollish behavior. Some games are better than others at policeing this than others, but in the end the trolls still are there. Therefore I avoid any game that is open world pvp. I have never had good experiences in an open world pvp game, f2p or p2p.

Finally, there are just as many people with behavior issues in paid games and "free" games. How many trolls and a** hats there are is entrirely dependant on the level of policeing done by the publisher, and the swiftness and severity of punishments handed out. A slap on the wrist does nothing towards correcting poor behavior, IRL or in games.

 

Humanity hasn't grownup yet, the Age of Aquarious is not upon us. Thus the only way to really resolve this is by ignoring the people you don't like and reporting severe behavior issues. Sorry, it can't really be fixed until we all growup.

I really think this was a well thought out post. I know it is cliche and has been saide a million times but, 'do not feed the tolls' is the best phrase to solve everything. Being a girl gamer, that has some parts of her that are a bit...bigger... than others makes me a huge target. What you have to realive is when you give them credit for pissing you off they get all hapy and then when you stop feeding them they private message you unitl they stop and then they just die off. It is not a point of F2P or P2P it is just the community at a whole needs to lok in on itself and assess it's values!

I like the scoring idea. Here's an idea. When player joins a group; time stamp it and take note of the group members. When player leaves group, permanently record the duration and group members. Then metrics can be provided. For example, if a player has a lot of long duration groups with a variety of players then you can probably assume he/she is not too much of an IDB.

Agreed and maybe this makes me evil but I can see another exploit to this. Sit in a group with your firends and afk and now you are a great member! 

FTP is an issue in a way. I love FTP but I agree with no lose of money people dont care if they troll. No one talks about how they lost their totally free RoM account on here and I doubt anyone will.
