Are you planning on rolling both Realms on the same server?

If YES - why?

meh... first 3 min (of a 4 min video) - most exciting part was the music.  The last min was a good show of PvE.. although I would much rather see someone claim to be "unstoppable" in PvP.

Just thought you would appreciate the bump and the updated Raven site: www.ravenlegion.com

Still recruiting?  Looks as if you're closed to all classes.

Just wanted to add that if you think bringing in a new class (as cool as the Slayers are) is going to breath new life into the game you're mistaken.

I don't understand why people who:

1. Don't belong to decent organized guild

2. Who never got past rank 30

Complain. Get to rank 40 and you can start playing the actual game. Amazing game, the best mmo currently on market, fine there are some stuff that need evolving but they're working on it, I started at launch and totally hooked on the game; played 40/rr48Sorcerer and then my guild rerolled to order and now 40/rr43 BW and still enjoying and having fun.

Give it a chance and play for fun.

You must be smoking the Devil's lettuce or not know what 'real' PvP/RvR is about.

I was in CB for over a year before OB and rolled almost every class to 40+.  In retail I pushed myself and had several classes 40/40RR (even though RR has nothing to do with skill) and was in the 2nd overall guild on Dark Crag before we disbanned.  I was 1 or 19 players chosen to participate in the Core Tester Program where we worked first hand with the Devs.  You can see I have a good bit of history invested in Mythic, and thats not even touching on how long I played DAoC.

The end game in WAR is so incomplete and unenjoyable that after almost 2 years of playing I canceled my sub with Mythic and uninstalled the game.  If you think fighting NPCs in instances for loot is the quality RvR engame that we have all been waiting for you're sadly mistaken.  You should probably play DAoC to get an idea why so many loyal fans of Mythic are upset.

in a full loot system, who in their right mind would want to have a full backpack.

This is something the programmer probably won't even have to code in.. common sense and a couple "omg, I can't believe I lost EVERYTHING' will keep players from packing their backpacks.

Lose will force players onto this steep learning curve.  I look forward to helping a few of these players learn for themselves!

Mounts look great!  So glad they didn't stick Dwarves on ponies or mini mounts.  And Sorcs finally!  I can't wait to see them ingame.  The concept art looks amazing.

By the sounds of things they will be inviting ALOT more into beta once the closed testers run through the new content.  Keep your fingers crossed!

 Where is the PvP?!

wow... UT with what looks to be a horid frame rate.

NO END GAME  -  Plain and simple lack of endgame.  They screwed the pooch on PvP imo leaving very little to do other than raid once you cap out.  PvE is pridictable and gets old fast while PvP/RvR (if something worth taking part in) can be surprising and different every time.

Heres hoping AoC and/or WAR do it right.

Yea, you will have a majority of gameplay dedicated to pvp. There of course will probally be a language barrier between  enemy races. and although there are safe zones where you cant target the enemy unless you walk into them, there is no shaking of hands.

If Warhammer online is to promote major conflict and pvp, the last thing they would want to do is institute a language barrier.  Smack talking will promote so much pvp it's not even funny.  Thats what made Shadowbane so great.  It's also what made WoW kind of lame.  You should be able to address someone you are about to execute, whether it's out of respect or pure hatred, they need to know.

I am still enjoying DAoC, although getting rather old after 5 years+...

but the emote system is all you have to communicate in game to the opposing factions.  This imo is a much better way to prevent cross realming problems.  Smack talk can be done on the games official forums.. or take it to their guild's forums.  You still recognize names of players who fought well, or who you just straight out hate.  The competition is still there even if you can't make someone /quit with some shyt talk.

...what a challenging MMO.

Good luck with your future plans Sanya!

I have been reading your Friday Grab Bags since they started, and always came to the Hearald first for anything Dark Age related.

I think some folks expectations are set a bit too high.... maybe because I've played DAOC for many years I know that Mythic is hardly the perfect game developer and realize that mistakes can and will be made.

I've really got no feel for how much impact EA might have on the group, and of course they answer somewhat to the franchise holder in terms of design and gameplay, and what comes out might surprise people.

Its all about expectations, I've seen folks who are hoping that this will be DAOC 2... and others who want it to mirror their Warhammer tabletop experience... I'm sure the game will fall somewhere in between these two and compromises will be made in order to create what the developers feel is a profitable game. (which usually alienates people when they don't get what they were hoping for)

I think the main reason gamers have high hopes for WAR is that its being developed by a company who has over 5 years of live MMO experience under their belt.  Think about all Mythic has learned.  Mistakes will be made, but if you learn from them and don't repeat them then I wouldn't look at a mistake as a negative thing.

As for EA; I hope they are only the Sugar Daddy for Mythics vision.

I've never been able to leave DAOC because I've yet to find PVP in another game that comes even close to compairing....... I was looking forward to Age of Conan and Warhammer this year, I wouldnt mind something new o_O

I couldn't agree more - DAoC is one of the best MMOs out even after 5 years.  There is no PvP that even hits close to this.

On the flip side I have been playing on and off since SI was released, so I'm always looking for something new, and AoC and War are the only 2 games that I could imagin trading my DAoC for.

I laugh so hard when I read or hear people trying to justify the reason they play such a horid game.  For the record I am a huge Blizzard fan, and actually tried to get immersed in this pastel world .. TWICE!

Wake up m8, WoW is the MMO for people who could never grasp the "other ones"... that is the reason why it has so many people playing.  The game takes no skill, quests are not searched out they are spoon fed to the player, the combat system is so basic a monkey could PvP like a king.

I feel sorry for the gamers whos first MMO is WoW, because you always base your MMOs after off of your first experience, and that will do nothing but dumb down MMOs in our future.

I have been watching this game for some time now, and although the hype around it isn't crazy (for a good reason I guess *cough* Mourning), it has the potential to be a great MMO imo.  Its not a MMO for everyone thats for sure, but it caters to the PvP crowd, and maybe thats why I havn't given up on it yet.

On my daily visit to their site (http://www.thronesofchaos.com) I noticed about 3 weeks ago the forums were taken down and there were some talk of a pending publishing deal.  Today something new.. seems the whole site has been replaced with a "coming soon" page in its place.

Not sure what to make of it but I'm hoping for the best, expecting the worst.

Not one of the better expansions to a game i've seen come out, so far it kind of reminds me of TOA and DAOC.

ouch!  I feel that.  ToA was the worst expansion in DAoC history! :(  If you still enjoy that MMO though the Classic servers are heavy populated and removed the ToA expansion (incase you didn't already know).  DAoC is still one of the best MMOs on the market after 5 years imho.

The article was a good read and imo hit the nail on the head.  There are alot of casual gamers, and WoW is their game to be sure.  Most of the 'hardcore' gamers I know are sitting on their hands until something better suited for them comes along.  Maybe AoC?  or Warhammer?
