Funny... and sad.

That PvP looks like garbage, he called it.

I laughed so hard... then peed myself a little and stopped laughing long enough to write this post after looking at those screen shots.

Good luck in 2K11 with graphics like that!

Thanks Artist! :)

Yeah I'm craving a VIP pass myself.  Last weekend was a blast... I can't wait to see/test more!

With no caps set in game its still meaningless imo

New Pets Arrive:  lol... more candy for the kiddies!

Man... whatever happened to just buying LEGO in a box taking it home and using some imagination?!

I use to have a trunk full of different LEGO sets that I got tons of use out of... passed down to my younger brother who also had loads of fun with it.

For what they are charging you could have a whole slew of LEGO to play with for years to come!

From every trailer this looks like a duller version of LoL with fewer characters and no character improvement (either per game or meta) at all--i.e., total crap.  Just spawn and bumrush the other team.  Wooo.

And people who complain about crits/evades really should pay attention to item effects.  Though it doesn't seem as if this game even has any (?) so it should be much better for the simpleminded.  All in all I find LoL a lot more fun (even though I've taken a break from it for the past month or so)  simply because you have to actually focus on how you BUILD your character, and pay attention to how you DEVELOP them (vs NPCs or going for ganks), two elements this game seems to completely ignore.  No thank you Funcom, please stop emailing me!  I don't know why they thought this would be a successful release in the face of already existing, more fleshed-out games of the exact same type.

I'm glad that people like you, who watch trailers to make an informed oppinion on games such as BLC, will not be joining those who actually test them out for their 'real worth'.

Oh and btw, at the bottom of a Funcom email is a little link that says "unsubscribe"... click it

Great game for real competitive people.  No Crits, Evades or any of that passive bullish.  Everyone is on a even playing field so skilled players shine.  Its all about timing your skills, and team play.  Yeah there is 'some' luck factor, but other than that BLC seperates the wanna bes from the real PvPers!

I feel sorry for 90% of those "girls".... and I feel 100% sorry for all of you drooling over that sad, sad show!

Graphics and Gameplay are great...

Without caps the game will fail, no matter what they introduce with 2K10.  New servers?...with transfers?.... not going to fix or bring new blood in.

I would love a DAoC 2, that returned to its roots.

If they just rewound DAoC to the Shrouded Isles days, gave it a new coat of paint, polished up the leveling, added in public quests, tightened up the battlegrounds, removed /map (like it was at launch), removed all the teleporters, putting back in the necklace ceremony, improving upon the naval combat aspect, that'd be sequel worthy.

When you were in a good group, you KNEW it. In a decent group, you could of course, pull higher level monsters for more loot and experience, and handle a few of them.

GREAT groups, you could almost nonstop pull WAVES of purple+++ monsters and kill them with ease. You truly felt unstoppable, because you were mowing these baddies down so quickly, and the exp ran in rivers.

Group dynamics just have never felt the same in any other MMO I've played since.

And the combat in that game, it was KINETIC. You had to be right up against your opponent to hit him, none of this, stand 10 feet away and melee the air stuff in LotRO and other modern MMOs. Your sword would actually look like it hit your enemy, the enemy would flinch, or it'd do a block animation. The recoil and animations were good enough that it almost didn't seem auto attack based, especially with the quick reactionary chains.

I remember lots of people complaining about the /stick command and the need for it made PvP 'less skilled', but its apart of that great combat you mention above.  You knew when you evaded/blocked/parried or were hit.  Its again something I miss in most MMO's today.

DAoC supported a healthy balance for those who liked PvE, crafting, AND PvP. Raiding was done as recreational fun usually, not a second job, cause most people were concerned with the frontier, and items gotten from raids weren't game changing, cause you could get comparable items from crafters, the crafted items just didn't glow and sparkle.

Just wanted to say that I enjoyed the "What if... DAoC2" article, and I thought Garvon3 made some great mentions on what made DAoC so memorabile for me.

Great read from the OP.

Just wanted to add some concerning DFO - I think the lack of consiquence for choices made when selecting a 'role' for your character is what currently makes character development as a whole lack luster.  The lack of consiquence is the reason a majority of the player base are Jack of all Trades.

When DFO was in beta I remember there were consiquences - choose to go Fire Magic, and you couldn't use Water.  Choose Earth Magic and you couldn't use Air.  Choose Arcane Magic and you couldn't use Necro (at the same time anyways).  They need to bring this back in to create diversity.  They don't need to be permanant.  The Specializations that they have introduced have has some success in moving players towards a 'Role' while leaving it in their hands to choose it only if it suits their desired playstyle.

Hopefully we will see more of this in the future - perhaps 2K10 patch/expansion?

Are you planning on rolling both Realms on the same server?

If YES - why?

meh... first 3 min (of a 4 min video) - most exciting part was the music.  The last min was a good show of PvE.. although I would much rather see someone claim to be "unstoppable" in PvP.

Just thought you would appreciate the bump and the updated Raven site: www.ravenlegion.com

Still recruiting?  Looks as if you're closed to all classes.

Just wanted to add that if you think bringing in a new class (as cool as the Slayers are) is going to breath new life into the game you're mistaken.

I don't understand why people who:

1. Don't belong to decent organized guild

2. Who never got past rank 30

Complain. Get to rank 40 and you can start playing the actual game. Amazing game, the best mmo currently on market, fine there are some stuff that need evolving but they're working on it, I started at launch and totally hooked on the game; played 40/rr48Sorcerer and then my guild rerolled to order and now 40/rr43 BW and still enjoying and having fun.

Give it a chance and play for fun.

You must be smoking the Devil's lettuce or not know what 'real' PvP/RvR is about.

I was in CB for over a year before OB and rolled almost every class to 40+.  In retail I pushed myself and had several classes 40/40RR (even though RR has nothing to do with skill) and was in the 2nd overall guild on Dark Crag before we disbanned.  I was 1 or 19 players chosen to participate in the Core Tester Program where we worked first hand with the Devs.  You can see I have a good bit of history invested in Mythic, and thats not even touching on how long I played DAoC.

The end game in WAR is so incomplete and unenjoyable that after almost 2 years of playing I canceled my sub with Mythic and uninstalled the game.  If you think fighting NPCs in instances for loot is the quality RvR engame that we have all been waiting for you're sadly mistaken.  You should probably play DAoC to get an idea why so many loyal fans of Mythic are upset.

in a full loot system, who in their right mind would want to have a full backpack.

This is something the programmer probably won't even have to code in.. common sense and a couple "omg, I can't believe I lost EVERYTHING' will keep players from packing their backpacks.

Lose will force players onto this steep learning curve.  I look forward to helping a few of these players learn for themselves!
