Source? I haven't seen an announcement for either and it's quite a heated debate for Wildstar at least.

Also, I didn't know TESO was releasing this year... seems like it was just announced.  I thought it'd be '14 or '15.  Then again, I haven't followed that closely.

Blasphemy, how can a website advise people to buy a $200 content pack for a free game?

The link on the bottom to the founders pack should be removed...

Because MMORPG journalists didn't write this. Because Cryptic and PWE "teamed up with" (paid) MMORPG.com to bring you this "Dev Blog" (advertisement), wherein they can "offer insight" (say whatever they want) about the game without having to worry about things like "miscommunication" (journalistic integrity).

Look at this neat free game. Only $200 to experience it fully... for free! But wait, there's more!

I really view these dev blogs as similar in function to late night infomercials.

This entire, so-called article is here because of PW/Cryptic ad money. No other reason.

Tin Foil hat out now?Purely stupid statement.

Good to know you can buy these advantages.

Astral Diamonds are earned in game through daily quests, events, foundary usage and other things.  It is not currency you buy from Cryptic, but rather one of two forms of currency within the game that players trade amongst themselves.  It is ZEN that the cash shop uses, which is the third currency in game.  Astral Diamonds are the middle currency whereby a player that spends time doing their dailies and such will be able to use Astral Diamonds to trade with other players in the same way they would trade gold (though players that have excess zen could trade it to other players for the Astral Diamonds they unlocked).

Astral Diamonds (again, they're not the cash shop currency of Zen and require work to get) can be spent at shops/stores in game for specific items, just as there are shops that sell items for copper/silver/gold.

Then the question is can astral diamonds be bought with Zen? It sounds like GW2 where you buy gems for cash, if it's the same then you are effectively buying the speed up with cash, after converting it to AD's.

Its a speedup thats very expensive and its just for crafting.Who really cares?Almost every F2P game out there has something similar.Doesnt make the game any less fun.

What they're saying isn't actually accurate.

You do have to spend points in just about everything, but you get an option of spending one or two points  in each skill.  So the ones that you like the most, you can spend two points in.  It sort of makes sense, because maybe you don't think you need a skill, so don't put any points into it - but then find yourself in a dungeon where you wish you had it...

The comment about not having all the skills at maximum level is a bit baffling... that is what customoization is.  Having all the skills just makes all the players the same.

not in a game where you are so limited to the number of active skills at once and with such a small overall power pool.. much like guild wars 1. The same class all had access to the same pool of skills you just had a ton of choices and only could use a small amount at any given time.. that's where customization comes in not by limiting you on the choices of powers you get

I dont have a problem with only having a few skills/powers available at a given time.Every other MMO out there gives you so many skills its mind boggling sometimes.Look at EQ2 for example. That game has a rediculous amount of skills. When you need a spreadsheet to figure out which skills to take and what rotation you need for a given situation Im done.Thats just me.Some people like that sort of thing and thats fine.I used to but I dont have that much time these days like I used to for game time.So a simpler system which works is fine.My philosophy these days is "More isnt always better".

This game is a breath of fresh air, it is the best martial arts MMO by far. Playing for 30 minutes doesn't even get you into the "real" game, so all you I uninstalled after wtf 3 seconds people are doing yourselves a disservice.

I have very little time to play, yet feel I can log in and accomplish something, whether it be gathering, questing or an instance. Not that is all I can do in an hour but you should see the truth.

Do not rag on the game because you have a problem with the asain theme. The game is as western as eve online other than the setting.

It is not nearly as western as Eve is.Its a confusing mess the first few hours. It looks and acts like a ton of other Asian MMO's and Im not talking about the theme.

Lots of people here making sweeping judgments based on very limited experience. Has it become cool now to write stuff like "installed, logged in, logged out, uninstalled"? Is that considered an actual opinion nowadays or what?

AoW has some weak points, and sadly most of them are crowded together during the first few hours, which apparently turns people away from the game. In short, the bad stuff amounts to:

* A boring tutorial that doesn't make the game justice - basically autorun fedex quests which is about as far as the actual game as you can get. This is stupid because people expect "sandbox" and get quest runs.

* Poor char customization

* Clunky combat when fighting mobs as a noob - this is because you are a noob, not because combat is clunky in AoW. When you advance your char, your own skill, and get your flying scripts, it's a whole different story.

* Awkward translations and UI - it's better now but still not good enough

* Gold spammers - this is a major issue and I'm very disappointed that Snail hasn't made anything about it. It will potentially destroy this game if not dealt with.

However, the good news are:

* Once you're finished with the tutorial the game opens up and you're free to do whatever you want.

* Freeform skill and leveling system - you can learn every skill in game and you progress through passive "cultivation", not by grinding stuff.

* There are lots of unique features, mostly revolving around PvP in some way: kidnapping, spying, patrolling, script stealing, cart robbing/escorting, school wars, and so on.

* An alignment system and a bounty hunting system plus jail and execution for rampant PKs.

* A player driven economy (player crafted gear is the only good gear, player made food and drink, interlocking professions, etc).

* A random encounter system where your actions influence the surrounding NPCs, unlocking quests and rewards based on their perception of you (this is something I haven't even tried yet).

* A very well crafted world where the cities are full of NPCs going about their business in the banks, shops, markets, gambling houses, brothels and so on, where offline players do stuff like begging, juggling, peddling, guard duty, even prostitution... The graphics are simple but the art style and level design is extremely well done - anyone complaining about it looking "cheap" has not taken good look at the attention to detail and the realistic style of the landscapes and buildings. This is as far from your generic fantasy world as you can get.

So please guys, before bashing something, get some actual hands-on experience (no, playing the tutorial doesn't qualify you to review any game), or at least do some research as to what the game's about. Claiming AoW is "just another Asian grinder" just makes you look like an idiot.

Sorry brother but your first few paragraphs explain enough of the bad in the game which is pretty much the first few hours and enough to make me stay away.If the game cant expalin itself to someone a little less patient than you, it wont keep me playing.Ive said it here it looks cool and the concept is cool but the execution is lacking.

PS: You calling people an Idiot for not liking a game makes you look more like an Idiot.

Game was just "meh". It is a slightly nicer, slightly deeper version of the typical Asian grinder. As someone else mentioned, it recycles many, many game mechanics from previously done grinder games. And yes, almost everything is a HUGE grind (which was enough of a turn-off for me, right there), that pushes the player into using the cash shop to avoid or hurry the grind. I started playing with several other friends during the beta, and not one lasted a month. As to why this game is not getting more coverage, easy: it does not deserve any.

I don't believe you actually played the game. Please educate us what typical Asian grinder in this game? and How many hours you have put in this game?

Doesnt really matter what you believe. The game looks alright and has a cool idea but its NA execution is lacking.I spent alot of time trying to figure out the cultivation system.Still not sure how to use it.I shouldnt have to go to some forums to figure out something that seems fairly important to your skills in game.Plenty of other MMO's out there to keep me occupied.

So, given that the majority of the playerbase are in private instances, and thus not able to interact with 99% of the rest of the people, I would argue that heavily instanced game are NOT MMORPGs, by its very definition.

More over, instances are NOT persistent and with the majority of the gameworld in instances, then again that is a point of argument if heavily instanced games are MMOs or not. I say not.

I say your wrong.I played and was able to interact with as many people as I wanted whether or not i was in an Instance. Also I have the option to group with any number of people in those instances.

I have concerns about this megaserver thing and phased story lines (please don't over do them and make it like swtor)

But I'm looking forwards to trying out the beta and making my own mind up.

Errm, "don´t overdo it like SWTOR" ?

SWTOR neither has single server tech like TSW and TESO, nor does anything you do affect your gameworld by phasing.

By reading the bullet points, TESO will be far, far ahead of SWTOR in all departments.

SWTOR is phased to hell and back, thats what all them little red doors you cant enter are.

Uh no.Thats not phasing. Those are instances and theres nothing wrong with that system in SWTOR.Phasing is a totally different animal.GW2 has phasing. Its all about a bunch of mini servers that make up one big server and how you can get put into different servers based on population and where your friends and guildies are.Do a little research and youll see what it really is.

They haven't. If you like me have been hoping for a true Elder Scrolls MMO this isn't it. This is DAoC 2 in Tamriel. Not saying it will be a bad game, and maybe it'll be fun to play, but take it for what it is. Otherwise you'll just be disappointed.

You know this how?Have you played the  game?Niether have I and I still think it looks pretty good. What about this game in your vast experience makes it not a true Elder Scrolls MMO?I love comments like this without any real explanation as to why you think your right and everyone else is wrong.

Are we not even being realistic anymore?

Is Tabula Rasa a "cult classic"?  Auto assault?  The matrix online?  Ultima online is a cult classic.

What the heck, Mr. Murphy?

Agreed lol.

Unfortunately I paid for the original DF and it was the worst MMO experience I have ever had.Interface sucked.Graphics werent terrible but there were so many bugs it wasnt worth playing. Can you say floating MOBs?Stupid unpolished crap like this shouldnt be published.I cant possibly see how they can fix it this time around.

Why do these game companies continually think we need this kind of out of game social crap?I dont need to tell my "Facebook" friends what Im doing in a game that more than likely none of them care about.I get really annoyed by all the stupid invitatiosn to FB Games and other oddball notifications we get in FB.I dont think my friends and family need this as another one.I just want a game that is concerned with only one thing and thats me and my entertainment as well as of course everyone who is actually playing the game with me.This FB and Twitter Integration is pointless garbage.

Never did I say it was "fact" as you put it lol but sensitive people will be just that. It's not a matter of, if i'm not happy with it don't play it because in "fact" i will continue to dabble in it occasionally. See what i did there?! lol

It was a simple question of Do You Still "think" hence opinion.....(some people can't comprehend i guess) that it's a Revolutionary Game?

Love people like the above poster it amuses me.

I never thought it was maybe some people did but your generalizing and assuming everyone thought it was a revoultionary game and you know what assuming means right?I can comprehend fine but stupid poles like this serve noo purpose other than to antagonize the people who are enjoying the game for what it is.A game that does a lot to move the genre forward.Take a lot of ideas that are in other games and Iterates on them and makes them its own thing. This game is very good and deserves to be played.A lot of love went itno the design of it.So your poll is just a Troll as usually is the case for these posts.

For me I didn't come into the game with expectations like that and was pleasantly surprised. It was easily worth my $60 and I look forward to playing it in the future which is what the OP agreed to do as well. To me that's all that matters.

Agreed.I got my $60 worth the first 2 weeks.I buy Xbox360 games that dont give me that much value. These polls are written by trolls who have nothing better to do than wine because they had unrealistic expectations and were subsequently dissapointed because it didnt live up to them for them if that makes any sense.

Long time reader on this website, but a starter poster ;) To me many of Guildwars 2 "Revolutionary Gameplay" ideas are kinda sad and nothing new... just reused old ideas under a new shiny name.

Is it worth the 60$ simple answer for me yes because i do enjoy it as a quick pick up n play kinda game and it will always be there years later unless they pull the plug on servers of course lol. If it had a subscription attached to it, i Wouldn't even bother with it tbh. It's good for casual players to come on and get something done for an hour or two almost like a WoW Jr in that aspect.

Exploration is kinda dull and un-rewarding half the time, minus the beautiful views of course and random 1 or 2 chests you find along the way. All the waypoints, hearts, points of interest all marked on your map ruins it. Plus some areas you stumble into while exploring might require a party to kill monster/monsters which is annoying if your solo or no one is around to help.

Structured PvP is nice for an hour or two but then it gets boring. Can't make premade groups which is odd but understandable i guess. Again the accesiblilty is there for casuals to jump in and start playing but thats about it. I don't get an addiction for it like other mmo's PvP systems. *since i waited over an hour to eventually give up waiting for 9 more teams of five to join for it to start i forgot about tournaments being a vaible premade method for sPvP. If u can wait for others to play with you....that is. Maybe my server is dead idk.

WvW is zerg here zerg there everywhere a zerg, plus what server has the most people online at the time you decide to go in. Trying to get in solo or with friends is a test of patience and time with the fact that you can't join que as a group so each person gets there own que timer to get in. There is no Estimated Time to show how long till your eligible to zone in.

Rewards. Area rewards are horribly stupid, waste all that time trying to complete an area for mediocre items makes it pointless imo. Dungeons drops are nice in the sense no one ever fights about drops, it's all randomly distributed behind the curtains which is very nice. Probably the best part about the game is the distribution of loot. lol

Crafting is nice but lots of stupid clutter to make it look like a vast crafting system but in turn just makes it annoying half the time. Want to craft a pair of boots, wait u 1.need to smelt your copper 2. get some cloth (of course our virtual boots need to be comfy for our long travels, espicially with walking soo slowly everywhere lol) 3. make three parts : sole, padding, exterior of your boots 3. add insignia's for extra stats then viola your 1 pair of boots is finished..... again more stupidity then an actual complex crafting system.

Dungeons feel unorganized and messy, i hate them with a passion. Tera, Secret World, WoW dungeons feel nice and layed out perfectly from start to finish. [mod edit]
Again loot is beautifully handled, most of the time completly useless aswell but thats another story lol.

Story is interesting but the cutscenes ruin it. Boring cutscenes with wallpaper backgrounds ruins the immersion they try so hard to instill within the game. Maybe it's from seeing The Secret World and Swtor cutscenes but is it soo much to ask to see the actual in-game background instead of wallpaper????

Combat is sad aswell, nice and simplistic yes. Auto attack and cooldowns is all its about, with the new innovation of moving around!!?!?! to avoid AOE and attacks..... don't think i need to say more lol

Money Costs are again a major downfall. Traveling, Repairing, Gathering Tools, Salvage kits. Money sink i understand but in a game where the trading post nets you 1 copper profit for the majority of items is ridiculous and selling to merchants is better then selling on trading post =/ maybe i fail at GW2 economy lessons. Every coin i make is precious for saving up for armor, *cough cough cultural armor and other items i may need only to spend a nice chunk teleporting everywhere. Traveling to meet friends is gonna cost you, even to help someone out in your guild. To check an area with a dungeon to see if anyone is forming pickup groups. Coins Coins and more Coins gone, reminds of Aion and the rezzing fee to get your exp back. Want to cut back on costs don't worry you can spend a nice chunk of time running to said location aka walking.... unless you have a speed boost skill.. then you get actual running lol. Or for those that have a nice chunk of real life money why not spend it on gems to convert into in-game gold!!! All your money issues in-game gone with actual spending of your hard earned cash.  [mod edit]

Long story short. (lol if you watch South Park) I have been playing since beta and there was something in the back of my head bothering me about this game. I just can't get into it like other mmo's, there is no addiction for me wanting to log in on a daily basis. Revolutionary game?? not by a loong shot just another niche game for those WoW stragglers looking for something new or those  [mod edit]

Your Entire post is opinion not fact and the question really is a question of opinion as well. Why do these keep coming up?If you guys arent happy with the game dont play it.It doesnt have to be revolutionary to be a great game.In my Opinion it does everything it set out to do and that makes me happy.See what I did there?I offered my opinion. Its mine. Its different than yours.Grow up and move on.
