Interesting that you say that.  It's weird actually.  It runs things incredibly well at its native resolution (1300whatever x 768) but it has a lot of issues when I try to maximize the resolution for my external monitor at 1920x1080.  I wonder how GW2 looks at 1300x768.  I know that WoW looks like crap, but Skyrim looks great.  Hmmm.

See the problem you have is that Skyrim is rendered allready yes it does render as you going on but your cache for your GPU and drive allready have it stored or about to be writing. Yet for G2 as the enviorment is constanty changing you will most likely have issue @ higher res...

Honestly man I think you will be fine as most people can't go off beta as I stated due to CPU lock when the game release it will be optimized..

Makes sense.

Giving him an idea of perfomance based of a system spec is easier then saying Yes it will work or no it won't...As some people cores were being utilized and other's weren't...

Well the problem is that all the beta's and stress test were Processer locked. Except high end I7's.Some did utilize your GPU but not all. I did see my GPU being utilized and my CPU but not all cores. My Fiance use to run a dual core AMD with a 1g 5 series Ati and she had major issues. We just upgraded her last week to a Quad AMD 8 and a Ati 6 series and her perfomance in the last beta was amazing she had everything maxed with no lagg....

The problem you may face is you will be able to play it mid and enjoy or even high but when you come across tons of texture rendering I.E lots of Peeps/Cities even large bosses you will have major lag.I would say you will be okay as 90% of the CPU's were locked and GPU's weren't being utilized. I do know that if you are running an I7 you won't face any issues as Anet has stated the game was built around the I7 platform so obivously that makes it easier. As for me I ran maxed out on Eyefiinity with all shadows and all rendering. my set up is as follows:

I7990x 3.4 OCd to 4.7

Two 6970's 2 gig XFX on X-fire (game didn't utilize crossfire ;-( but was using 60% of my primary GPU)

24 Gigs of ram @ 2200fsb

200gig SSD (fast load times but not a big diff between mine and my fiances 10k Raptor)

3 30 inch Asus LED's.

Hope it helps and best of luck! P.S This is Anets Minimal specs:Our goal with Guild Wars 2 is to have it run on a wide range of Windows gaming PCs.

Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or better • Intel® Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3, AMD Athlon 64 X2, or better • 2 GB RAM • NVIDIA® GeForce® 7800, ATI X1800, Intel HD 3000, or better (256MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better) • 25 GB available HDD space • Broadband Internet connection • Keyboard and mouse

Note: Due to potential changes, system requirements may change over time and you may be required to upgrade your current system (or obtain a new system) to continue to play the game.

(Insert comments that tries to explain how fail SWOTR is)

Short Answer NO!

Did he actually say that Tera was a decent game? haha oh boy...Children....

So you feel that because Anet created a Race that was based off large human-like Vikings and they stayed true to that look and feel of that race... That it's flawed? because you get face rolled or targeted first in a zerg or by a group of people? This is one of the "first" MMO's that don't have Class-Race restrictions..In DAOC you always knew that Furbolg was most likely a Bard or Champ so you attacked them first or in WoW you saw a Tauren (vannila) you knew Druid or War....

I think you just need to L2P and QQ less and marvel @ the greatness that is Norn! or just roll an Asura like I plan on doing and being a Warrior..Nothing more Badd*ss then a tiny Asura who can barely lift a 2H Greatsword then when he tears you up with it!

Im pretty sure 90% of the community is unaware but there is a finder...Not a 100% dungeon finder that most of the easy mod MMO's present but a group finder..It's P(default) for party but allows you to do a refined search for players and you can flag yourself as looking. It was more detailed in Beta 3 then the first 3 were. Allowed you to flag for WvW or SPvP and DE but not Dungeons..Yet as someone who did do the dungeons I don't find any need for it as anyone who looking for the dungeons usually met outside of them (old school style) and just spammed /map LFG.

For me it wasn't the gear grinding (As I enjoyed raiding with my friends and it had been the same people for over 4 years) I enjoyed being the best geared tank on my server and holding that status for a long time and always having the competetion of other players looking to take it away.Yet the major things I didn't enjoy is

Dailies that weren't interactive at all....The same boring ones just to get Gem patterns,Cooking Emblems,The low end graphics (Had built a new rig and wanted to see some change but honestly not a single thing).

Killing HM Nef about 20 times for tank chest never to drop and that goes for Chimaeron also..The loot system is just so out dated and crap If SWOTR can have class drop in raids why cant wow?

The community..Outside of my guild with the exception of a few players so many were just pricks for no reason(Many who are just bad players and assume that because your geared you must have no life and I guess by defaut are an a**hole)

As I stated I wasn't tired of the raiding but just tired of the gear % drop when having every item a class can have to fully max out and only need 1 or 2 and spending months on it and it never droping is just B.S to me. In the end leaving for me had more factors then just one. I miss the game more for the old friends time to time but since G2 beta I felt that feeling that I hadn't in a long the feeling of a community based game.Something I hadn't seen or personally felt since the early days of DAOC.

Ill do you a favor and break down some answer for you by your questions.

1)People that play it says theres no designated tank, healer, dps etc. And everyone is kinda minding their own buisness doing what their class can/is supposed to do.. Instead of really having a role in the party you just smash buttons now with abit less purpose

A)This is correct "No holy trinity" However some classes do tank better then others..I.E a Warrior speced into shield with Defense Talents and Tactiques...Will obviously be better then a Element in Fire Magic (Yet a Element could spec into Earth magic and Arc Power and actually tank very well) As for button smashing Im pretty sure every game is like that no matter what..However weapon switching is very viable and some classes are tougher to play then others..I.E Element to a Guardian..Switching between abilites can get tiring.

2)In gw2 it seems like you can just pick up any class and the group will still work, and theres nothing that will make you feel that it would be good to have that person around next time your running a dungeon?

A)This is true I can say from someone who did make it level 41 and was able to try Ascalon dungeon it's a great Mechanic to the game not needing any (Trinity).

3)It sounds like a great idea but I cant see how many times a bridge can be blown up or a village can be burnt down..?

A) I have seen this asked a lot..First and foremost most the people stating it's the same never made it pass level 10.Like all games you need to make it past the entry to see what it's all about but in G2 case it's not.See most the people making comments such as "it's just like WAR etc etc and Rift" There 100% wrong see when beta launched there was 100's of people in that zone so when a event poped up everyone ran to it..Now if there wasn't anyone there to stop it (which I witnessed late at night.I.E The human side where you kill worms put out fires and help corn. If you weren't to do that then a gang of raiders show up. Now if you don't stop them they take over the farm then the bridge then the town.It honestly gets even crazier as you level up. Whole zones get controlled and you have to team together to stop it.The funniest thing I heard people complain about was that  it was "hard to solo" Making people group up in my idea is just awesome!(You don't have to but it makes it worth while)

3)So,what is it then you must have? There must be some kind of way to progress your character and make it stronger!? And some people will spend more time with the game and "should" imo be stronger. If theres really no stronger weapons or armor then whats the point of switching gear at all

A)Great ? first and foremost I had the same question..And the answer is Yes there is PLENTY! First and fore most Trait points..(No matter if everyone is level 80 PvP on WvW if your level 5 you don't have traits therefore your dmg is @ the minimal level 80.Skill points lets you get skills..Granted the stats are "restricted" but you need to understand there "restricted" to a cap.So If I was level 5 and the "minimal" HP for a warrior in WvW is 10k that's what I would have. Now if I was level 80 and the "max"  I could get with gear is 16k then I would have a clear advantage over others. It's not a major win adv but it's still a Adv.So there is full reasons to level

4)Is there anyway to raid? (that is not a unorganized zerg feast event)

I like to have as many people together as possible and still try to get it organized and and exciting. Everyone working hard to make their characters abit stronger in their area of expertise to serve the greater good of the raid force and finally get the starts down to kill the mob.

A)This has been asked over and over again..Yes and Yes there is plenty of "raiding" now you need to consider what raiding is. As a old MMO player Raiding use to be 100 of us taking on Sidi in DAOC or DF. Yet G2 Does it diffrent. They released more info there is "actually a raid zone of major bosses and events" Everyone is hostile to you and "according to ANET" you will need friends to compete in this zone (Sounds like raids to me) Now there is also dungeons. There are 4 level 80 dungeons and two variations. So a total of 8 dungeons at release isn't bad for end game. The types are normal (Puggable sometimes since no one has done the end can't really say)Explorable  "Always" changing there is a website I believe Baliasta's that has done the math and there is a variable of around 20 diffrent encounters per dungeon so @ 20x4 that's 80 diffrent ways you could encounter a level 80 explorable dungeons.

On a Personal note I can say I played the Ascalon level 30 dungeon it was just amazing..If you didn't wipe a few times or loose half your group in a encounter you weren't doing it right. Not to mention the puzzles traps in dungeons just make it fun and non linear.

I also was Skeptic of G2..Honestly I heared of it but I matched it with G1 and honestly not a fan of G1 so i said blah..Yet after play WoW for years and the same old boring raids in the same style except instead of 20 mins to kill the boss we get 15..Instead of standing in two spots not to die we get one through progession..I got bored left and was searching for a MMO...I tried SWOTR to 50 with 3 level 70 ranked players but after 3 months The game lost it's lusted..Tera was just as boring with it's horrible graphics and PvP was a joke and well PvE....yea.... Yet for me G2 set something apart from other games...It honestly feels like the devs use to in old games DAOC/EQ where they cared about there player base and not trying to go head to head with the Elephant in the room (Blizzard) I would say give it a try and what's the worse you spent $60 Euro on a game that's F2P. I would sya give it a shot! I did and now I want to play all the time

Yea guess it all comes down to taste...I loved seen my Warrior carry a 2H GS on shoulder but when it came time to swing it he was gangsta...Humans also look awesome.

Great Vid! I have to say I love the armor progession from meager simple to advance..and all the plate just looks awesome!

Asura Warrior FTW!

The endgame is pretty much the same as the endgame in GW1. I think i've played GW1 for about 6 years or so and not once did i see anyone complain about there being no stat gear grind (not saying nobody did, i just didn't see it myself during my playtime).

There might be no "endgame stat gear", but that doesn't mean there won't be armor sets/weapons that are hard to get. When i play games like WoW, my mindset is like "must collect best gear", but when i play GW1, that mindset changes to "must collect cool gear". I'm not saying either one is better then the other, but i'm trying to say that most people will change their mindset depending on the game they're playing. When people realise there's no "best stats gear" in a game, they'll start looking for what people consider the best armor in that game. In GW2's case, that will be rare armor sets, expensive armor sets, etc etc..

People sometimes underestimate the amount of value most people put in cosmetics. And when the GW2 playerbase realises that rare/expensive armors = endgame armor in GW2, you'd be surprised how much people will start chasing those things.

There's also stuff like achievements/titles that you should take into account. Consider GW2 as having mostly the same amount of progression as other similar themeparks, except that the "stat grind" changes to "i want to stand out from the rest" grind.

TL;DR: the endgame worked fine in GW1, it should do fine in GW2 aswell.

Anet has actually gone on record to say"Gear will be dependent @ higher levels" but also cosmetic. Granted you can enter pvp and have the same "level 80" stats but those who get the PvP sets or PvE sets and are level 80 will have a clear advantage not  huge one but still an advantage..and Yes there are sets out there!Attached is my level 42 element with a set.

Anet has stated  there is "end game" It's not your typical cookie cutter MMO End game. Like WoW/Rift/Tera and I was going to say swotr but there isn't any end game in swotr. Basically to break it down for those who have no idea (Yes this even those who have played beta and only achieved level 1-15 and think they know the game)

1)There will be 4-5 (don't qoute me on exact do to the recent changes) Dungeons I actually think six one for each race and a 2 diffrent types of ways to encounter these dungeons.Explorable (which is pretty much Hardmode on crack) and Story (which is also pretty much hardmode when compared to modern MMO'S)So if there was 6X2 So @ launch that's 12 diffrent dungeons for level 80's(max level)

2)End game raiding (Since there is no trinity ANET has shyed away from saying raiding but "Dynamic events" There are massive bosses they will require many people to engage to win.(Other words raiding!)

I had the pleasure to play both modes for the level 30 dungeon(Ascalon dungeon) and I have to say..Intense the best dungeon run I have had since Avalon City in DAOC.

PvP fact is G2 has the best PvP out there! (Tera Lol!) (SWOTR LoL!) even WoW arena/bg's are all stale and boring. I haven't enjoyed PvP so intense since DAOC(This is my personal opinion on PvP so keep the QQ to yourselves)

I was a naysayer (WoW fanboi in some eyes because I was "Hardcore raider").When In reality I would raid with the same 10 people every week 4 times a week and we were just good 2nd best on server and in the top 100 for world.I left wow @ 4.2 because I was just so bored out of my mind it was all the same crap every week every year!

When I entered Tyria I was a skeptic to the nine but fact is they have made an amazing game. Every time I leave the game from a BWE or stress test I miss the game and honestly can't play other MMO'S I find myself playing DeadSpace or DeadIsland something with zombies! lol

In closing I will say. "I TRUST ANET" To actually trust an MMO company to deliver on what there selling is rare. I haven't felt I could trust a gaming company since Mythic Inc before EA tore them apart and destroyed DAOC with TOA!..So even thought Anet hasn't given US all the details of end game I have faith! I have paid my $70.00 and truthfully with No sub If I enjoy it for 6 months I got my moneys worth.Yet just my short amount of time in the BWE to level 42 I can say it's so much fun! and there so much in the game I haven't even touched! So have "FAITH" I know it's hard when so many companies dip into our pockets to just not deliver and be all hype but something is diffrent here about ANET.I think they actually care!

So  here is a pic of me and my fiance she is the Ranger on the Left and Im the Ele on right..

Had this issue twice myself. I ran my fiances updated and it ran fine she is running same set up as myself. So Im guessing it's on there end.

I just kept running the updated and sent in a bug report when requested only thing I would suggest that work is to just reload the updated a few times and give it a go.

Called it. This weekend was too soon, and weekend beyond the next one would put them close to 2 months since the first beta test. ANet wouldn't do that to their fans, they know how much their success and credibility relies on the love of their base. The second weekend was the only logical option.

I'm glad we have so much notice, and our characters are still there as I suspected they would be, as well. I'm going to spend that weekend getting the 30 Mesmer to 35 to try the dungeon, but after that he's getting benched until launch. I've been wanting to experiment with a ranger, anyway.

I currently have a 30 Element on Beta server and Im also planning on doing the dungeon. I also had the chance to get a ranger to 20 was tons of fun! Pets need work though I deff would say try to get a 2H greatsword early you will love it!

did you ever tried to communicate with the player in front of you while 20+ people were using the chat? was impossible lol

Agree 100% never looked at it that way..Good point! ;-)

I know some people said they hope for the optimization but I think it already happen. When testing the Stress Test it ran so smooth on my pc and im running an Intel i7-990X 24 gig two 6970's. Yet my fiance who is running on a slow PC AMD Phenom2 x4 8 Gig with a 5850 and she had lag in the BWE really bad and could only run at mid. During the Stress she ran it on full and it was smooth with no issues.

I would also like see maybe a better tutorial system it does make the learning curve for people tough. I had no issue but my fiance who enjoys AION took a bit to learn some of the basic.

All in all excited!

I just finished Reg and HM..in about  4 days played and playing about 6 hours a day....This is a joke...paid $60.00 for 12 years of dev? Don't get me wrong there are good aspects but the story was so short! the graphics are pathethic..Range classes are so OP my DH didn't die once from Act1 to fighting Diablo in heaven on reg.. HM is just cut and paste harder mobs bs...I was expecting a insane epic story line. I don't care what anyone has to say this is a rip off.!

Not to mention the community is just full of Barrens chat talk...The crafting is linear and boring..and Yes I have heared this isn't an MMO well if it isn't? or you aren't trying to give it that fele then why make is online acess only? for hackers who will make items and spawn gold everywhere..So what! Diablo was great because the feeling of single players was just amazing..This is a complete and utter sh*t pile of  game trying to appease the WoW masses..

Way to fail hard Blizzard! I thought Tera was bad...Atleast they are aware of there failure...
