I assume from your post that you are still having problems with FIrefox then. Unlucky having to use IE - I hate it !! You could always try chrome - I haven't tried it but people say its pretty good and I read only yesterday it has just overtaken Firefox for number of users. |

Yep it was Firefox. When I had the problem with the missing features I tried IE and that worked fine. Howevere, Firefox suddenly worked OK about 2 hours later as well. No idea why Firefox suddenly started working again with no action taken on my part. Strange thing was that I rebooted my PC when I had the Firefox problem (just in case I had presssed some strange combo of characters or something to disable the palette) and it made no diference - it was still missing. But I then leave my PC for 2 hours and when I come back it was working ! Very odd. BTW - It wasn't just the editing features that were missing. If I pressed the "quote" option on a post It didn't display the original post correctly - just the text in HTML type format. eg. [BOLD][RED] quoted text etc......... [RED][BOLD] or whatever. And the preview button didn't work either. It was basically acting like the Enhanced Editor (under mode at bottom of post) was turmed off. Most strange. |

And, BTW, apart from PvP rankings (see point 2) what exactly are you competing against other players. Most titles, fancy gear ? LOL |

And the next odd thing is that - yep - it's working OK again now. |

Seems to be a firefox problem. Just tried using IE and it works OK.

Can anyone tell me why all the options to change font, colour etc have suddenly disappeared when I make a post ?
The preview button is not working for me either.

The way that Euro is sliding down the toilet you will probably be getting the game for 1/2 the price the rest of Europe pays. |

When will people who post about P2W get this point into their thick skulls ? Unless you are talking about the (dubious) advantages that might be gained from WvW then there is no such thing as P2W I could not care less if everything in the game could be bought in a CS. I'm mainy a PvE player so kindly explain to me how amyone buying anything from a CS is "winning" as compared to me. There is no "win" in PvE. You play, you kill stuff you get rewards. If someone has better gear than me then I will get it eventually by getting the gold and buying it myself from the CS. Normal PvP is played on a level playing field with everyone at same level and with same gear (as I understand it). OK, you can be at an advantage (though who knows by how much, probably a VERY small anount) in WvW if you have bought influence with gold. However, to get all the gold in the 1st place you have to trade gems into gold and that means finding another player to do the deal. The only reason that I as a player would buy gems from another player for my gold is if the exchange rate was a lot lower than the game exchange rate. I really cannot see that people will be able to exchange gems into gold at any amount that will have any inflence in PvP. SO in conclusion :- CS : It boils down to people being jealous. That's it pure and simple. |

Ok, lets get the prices being charged to people in the UK & rest of Europe correct first shall we ? Prices direct from https://buy.guildwars2.com/ Digital Edition Digital Deluxe UK £49.99 £64.99 Europe €54.99 €79.99 Europe in £ (£1 = €1.2112) £45.40 £61.91 USA ???? (Assuming £1=$1.59) $79.48 $103.33 From the above you can see that we in the UK are probably paying about £4 or so more for each of the versions. That's obviously not totally accurate as ANet had to pick these prices at a given point and exchange rates will have changed since then. Now, I'm not sure how much these are being sold for in the US because the web site only lets me see European prices (maybe someone from US can post them here). I would bet that the US prices are quite a lot cheaper however. I don't consider these prices to be unfair per se. An average PC game costs say £30 or so in the UK so you are buying the equivalent (normal edition) of an mmo with 2 months subscription included rather than 30 days. I have to use mobile broadband so getting a digital version is out of the question for me as downloading the game would use up all my allowance. For that reason I will be buying the physical version when it is listed on a retailers site. And yes. I know its listed at GAME for pre-order of £34.99 but who knows if that is correct or not given that GAME went into administration and was the bought for a pittance. I suspect that when the physical version becomes available to order from most retailers that the price will be significantly below the pre-purchase digital versions though. This leads to the conclusion that either ANet are taking charging significantly higher for the pre-purchase editions because they can get away with it OR you are paying extra to participate in beta and get 3 days head start. I would go with the latter. As I will be playing this game non-stop when it comes out I can't say that 3 days headstart has much appeal to me. I don't want to play in Beta as that will just make waiting for the game to be released even more frustating.

I would expect that you will be able to upgrade from a physical boxed edition. I have been able to do that with other mmos in the past (RIFT for example). I have to wait until the boxed version is available as I have to use mobile broadband and downloading digital versions is not practical for me as it would use up all my allowance. Can't say I'm all that bothered about beta or headstart but would like the extra gear goodies. |

Exactly how are chests that can only be unlocked via buying keys in the Cash shop NOT Pay 2 win?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 4/08/12 12:58:48 PM
Would someone please explain why ANYTHING bought from the cash shop (whether real or perceived) bothers them ? As I understand it if you buy gems for real money you can only turn that into in game gold by selling the gems to another player. Why would anyone be bothered if you can buy experience scrolls ? So another player can level faster than you. Big deal. Why is that a problem ? I will tell you - JEALOUSY. The whole CS debate is just a complete waste of time IMHO. |

Yeah OK soz 4 not seeing there was an existing thread. |

I could not care less what is or is not available in a cash shop. I'm not going to be buying anything but don't care if other people do. I wouldn't even mind if you could buy better gear in a cash shop (although i do trust Anet on what they say will be available). The reason ? Basically I play a game for my own enjoyment and certainly am not going to get jealous over what someone else has. I really do not understand why people post that a cash shop (even if it did sell gear and other things) gives an unfair advantage to other people. Advantage in what way ? In PvE eveyone gets credit for kills etc and who cares if someone gets to level 50 before you do. In PvP eveyone is levelled to 50 and has the same gear so no advantage from a cash shop there. So, the only reason I can see why people compain is out of sheer jealously that someone might have something they can't afford or wanty to grind and pay for with gold. I really cannot see how in GW2 any advantage can be gained through a cash shop. |

WTF makes you think that we Europeans have/use any less credit cards than you in the USA ? And we are reluctant to use our credit cards for online shopping - LOL If you are not an American then I apologise but I would bet money you are. BTW - This is not meant to be a criticism of Americans per se, it's just that comments like these give you a bad press.
EDIT: And believe it or not we Europeans have also discovered how to use bank accounts as well so we can also use PayPal to prepurchase games. |

Preorder mini key - Procedure when you get full (Physical) game ?
General Discussion « TERA 4/07/12 6:08:21 AM
I have ordered the CE edition from Amazon in the UK. However, this physical edition will not arrive until official release date here (May 4th). Amazon are not giving any keys away in advance. Therefore I am going to buy the preorder mini key direct from http://community.tera-europe.com/shop.html The price of this together with the CE from Amazon is still cheaper than buying the CE digital-pre order from tera-europe (and presumably still cheaper than upgrading the mini key when available). My question is this:- 1) What is the procedure with the mini-key ? Presumably you register it on a site somewhere and that then allows you to download the client ? This will then allow me the head start. 2) What is the procedure when my physical CE edition arrives. Presumably I will have to resinstall the game from the physical DVD. What will then happen to account details etc as obviously thge CE will have its own key provided. How will this link to the preorder mini key ? Hopefully some kind soul can answer my query as it is all a bit confusing for poor old me. I don't want to cancel the CE from Amazon as they have sold all their preorder allocation already and I prefer to buy from then as I buy a lot of other things from them and they have always been very reilable. |
