Sad.

People watching other people play a computer game.

This is the equivalent of a bad reality tv show like "Big Brother" where people sit at home watching other people sitting at home and call it entertainment.

No Trial Yet but one is planned after the next round of changes. i.e. They are currently implementing the ability to buy/sell/rent house structures, implementing totem decay which will spawn undead.

You will also be able to store items in house structures now also.

The next couple of weeks are going to be interesting to say the least

In my day (before fast food, fast travel and disposable everything), it was about the journey, not the destination. I blame our current consumer culture that has bred a generation of "are we there yet, are we there?" children with attention spans of nats. How about they lift there heads up, unplug the iPod and look out the window on your next train/car trip, you might actually enjoy the scenery.

Brilliant! As a sandbox gamer currently playing Wurm Online and Xsyon this little gem made my day.

Jesus, don't overreact... It's just a title for those who sub in the first few months, that's all there is to it... I'm off to bed, but I strongly recommend you don't waste more of your time with this.

Well, you can't say it's not an incentive for people to re-sub past the first month... = money grab.

I can say it.

IT IS NOT AN INCENTIVE FOR PEOPLE TO RE-SUB PAST THE FREE MONTH.

It really was easy to type.

It is for the people that already were going to sub anyway. Which is the majority of players at this moment. You really think someone would resub just for a title?

Hang on.. So me preordering the game does not make me a founding member? Only paying an extra month makes me a founding member .. yeahhh riiiight!

Just received an email from EA/Bioware offering founding membership:

http://www.swtor.com/info/founders?sourceid=eag3396 Which says and I quote"

As a 'thank you' to everyone who helped make Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ one of the most successful MMO launches in history, we are rewarding early members of The Old Republic with a unique Founder's Medal and "Founder" Title!

Have a guess how you qualify for this title:  "Billed at least once for an active Star Wars: The Old Republic subscription".

Yup. It was not good enough that  I preordered and bought the game to qualify as a founding member. I have to pay for at least one additional month.  What a money grab.

I don't know about you people but this kind of blatant grab for cash makes me fume.

Thank goodness I unsubs from this game before my month was up.

Salem will be the succesor to Haven and Hearth (HnH) http://www.havenandhearth.com/portal/

If you are a sandbox gamer then you will find HnH compelling and Salem is looking to be a brilliant follow up.

I am truely looking forward to Salem.

The last time I looked Vindictus was only available to play in North America.

Can anyone confirm if the game is now playable from Australia?

I have tried the Vindictus forums but had no response from the community.

Appreciate if any other Aussies can confirm.

When a game is typically released it would have a system spec associated with it. (This would normally be on the website/box) of said game.

When I purchase a game I always ensure that my system meets or exceeds these specs to ensure that I have a smooth gaming experience.

How is it that this company showed a product in promotional videos with a set of high resolution graphics and released system specs that would handle those settings only to after release come out with this SPIN??

It is beyond belief! How can they on one hand release specs that handle the graphics then do a complete flip after the product ships and say NO it doesn't.

NONE of this makes sense.

I play all three games I would probably categories them as follows:

Minecraft = Kiddy mode i.e. if you like shallow quick crafting and don't have a lot of time this one works for a few hours play.

Xyson = Still a work in progress, interesting crafting system but no where nearly balanced and it will be at least a year until this game has a feature set worth playing.

Wurm Online = Free to play up to skill level cap of 20 (more than 114 skills you can learn). Wurm is probably the most in depth crafting/terraforming game out there. It is however a major time sink but they have recently added the EPIC server cluster with accelerated skill gain.  I have been playing it since 2006 as I have not been able to find anything that compares

According to the video, the Kraken has nearly a million hit points and can smash entire armadas with impunity. The video shows a fleet trying to take on the fearsome underwater world boss, but the players are only able to make a dent for all their efforts.

Enjoy!

Population is great. Just returned last week and having a blast. The game is great, the community is great.

I just started playing again and having a blast. I have seen lots of people in game, the community is great and the game is now running smooth as silk.

I wish I had come back to the game earlier.

I have been playing TOR now since Beta and was sitting there after one session dissapointed and was wondering why.

It then dawned on me what it was; The only parallel I can think of is the analogy of the heavily advertised candy store:

 1. You see this amazing ad for this great new candy store and being the sweet tooth that you are you decide to try it out.

2. You enter the candy store and are confronted with an array of brightly wrapped candies, all very enticing, with the promise of new flavours.

3. You decide to purchase a selection of said candy, rush home and expectantly unwrap one waiting for that first taste of something new......

4. Suddenly you realise you have tasted this candy before. But no! This cannot be! The ad said "Try our NEW candy with incredible new flavours"

5. You frantically start opening more candy only to discover at the end that there is nothing new with this candy at all.  In fact, the candy you were previously buying was better.

Remember folks, never trust the candy man.

I think you are all forgetting that this is two sided i.e. the PS3 side testing and the existing PC Eve side for testing of the Dust integration. There will be testing (gameplay) on the PC Eve side required so it DOES make sense to offer this to existing PC Subs of the game

After playing TOR for the past 5 days here is  what will happen next:

1. Uninstall TOR;

2. Put game on shelf with the other MMO's gathering dust;

3. Unsubscribe;

4.  Check forums in 1 -2  months to follow the TOR server merger SAGA that will unfold as people leave in droves.

5  Check the forums in 12 months to read the   "TOR gone F2P"  and chuckle.

hey

I am too looking for a new Sandbox. I am an old EVE Player, playing Wurm currently and took a look at Dawntide and ATitD.

What I am looking for is a Sandbox that is focused on crafting, like Wurm it should allow terraforming, it can even be more complex but it should also offer its fair share of PvE and it would be best if it had controlled PvP like Kingdom vs Kingdom in certain areas etc.

It should either be Fantasy or Sci-Fi.

I took a look at Earthrise but it seems they have a problem with player counts and are going F2P next year so got to wait to check that. Fallen Earth is post apocalyptic and as far as i can tell its a open PvP world, no thanks. Dawntide goes into closed beta, again. ATitD is great ok, but the Controls dont suite my taste, I need WASD movement, adding to that hey reset the world and are only about crafting.... I need to kill Monsters from time to time ;)

Took a look at Isteria, too. It seems to me its like the dropped Horizons, great Game. Downside to test all of it i would have to buy a property owner account, also no terraforming.

tl;dr

- complex and deep crafting system, like Wurm

- terraform options

- PVE Content

- Controlled PVP; KvK, Territorial Warfare, Battlegrounds, etc - There have to be space for Safe PvE

- Sci-Fi or Fantasy

- Some sort of Trial to be able to test and check all aspects of the game or F2P!

So please help me!

You may want to give Xsyon a try .. it has full terraforming like Wurm... http://www.xsyon.com

What gets me is that I'm in a guild that others are playing and yet I have no access because my preorder date is 1 Dec (Sorry Bioware I'm active duty Army).  So I'm going to assume that the majority of my guild will be level 20 or higher by the time I get my access.

All guilded players should have sameday access.

Assnine policy Bioware.

Yes this is my issue .. I have guild members that already have access. It would have made sense to let ALL of the same guild members who preorderd access at the same time.
