Without a doubt the largest MMO seemless map is Battleground Europe. Is a FULL half scale map of Europe. You are able to fly seemlessly across the whole of Europe to the UK. Here is a comparison against other games maps sizes:

I was just searching through Mpog.com games list and could not find reference to Tad Williams upcoming MMO Otherland

http://www.otherland-game.com/

After reading the books it surely is one of the MMO's on the horizon I would like to see listed on this site. *hint* *hint*

Move along. Nothing here but a load of outdated crap.

EvE Online has recently announced they are doing a similar thing. It looks like FE may beat EvE to the punch!

Another reason I am glad I purchased FE. Keep up the great work guys!

I just downloaded the open beta client here http://www.fileplanet.com/202456/200000/fileinfo/Fallen-Earth-Open-Beta-Client and patched it... worked fine and downloaded in just under 2 hours

Why you're wrong:

  • It breaks the terms and conditions of play of most MMO's i.e. it is illegal to buy/sell gold in those games.

Source : http://www.informationweek.com/news/internet/ebusiness/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=218101859

It is now illegal in China to buy/sell gold. It is estimates that between 80% and 85% of gold farmers are based in China.

"[M]any online games have a virtual economy and an in-game currency," he states in his survey. "Gold farmers can play in-game to make some currency. They then sell that for real money -- typically via a Web site and using the PayPal payment system -- to other players of the game."

Game companies typically forbid gold farming but committed virtual currency traders find ways around such rules. Some game companies have recognized the futility of trying to ban the practice and have built virtual commerce into their game infrastructure.

  • I do not wish to have direct TELLS or  main chat spammed at me everytime I log into play to purchase gold.

In any typical 2 - 4 hour game session I would receive between 20 - 40 Tells to purchase gold and see between 50 - 100 buy gold messages in general chat.  As a gamer the unsolicited tells have made me stop playing a number of MMO's as these MMO's after many complaints did not take appropriate action to have these people stopped. Accordingly they have lost a customer. Therefore this can NOT be good for the MMO's business and I am sure there are many others who have left these same games because of this very issue.

I played in beta and the game now performs great. I live in Australia and usually expect some lag but the game has been performing extremely well. I do get the occasional rubberband effect but this is not that often. Framerate is up around 60 even in highly populated areas.

In all I am glad I came back to FE. It is the best MMO I have played in ALONG time.

Well,

This is what it says at the main website page:

During The Lord of the Rings Online™ Welcome Back Week from October 15th through October 21st, you can play your old characters for free** and get a +25% XP Bonus***. Plus, if you come back now and renew your subscription to LOTRO with any 3-, 6-, or 12-month $9.99/month* subscription plan by October 31st, we’ll give you The Lord of the Rings Online™: Siege of Mirkwood™ digital expansion for free* (regular price $19.99)!

You may want to consider the above option

I suggest you rethink your distribution strategy.

Dude, read the whole thread, devs have posted here, they are building the options for you right now.

At the site http://myalganon.com/purchase shows a pre-order access and a picture of a boxed DVD. It is not clear that you can do digital download. The dev post in this thread also only refers to new payment options NOT the ability to do digital download from there site once the product goes retail.

I am a long time follower of MPOG.com and today decided to glance at the "Upcoming Releases" section as I am interested in picking up a new MMO to play.

I was shocked to see that there are 12 titles listed that are being delivered by the end of the year. i.e. in the next 12 weeks.

Jumpgate Evolution, Playboy Manager, Sudden Attack , Quickhit Football, Mortal Online, League of Legends, Dungeon Fighter Online, Wonderking, Dragon Oath, Vanilla Gate, CTRacer.

Out of the 12 titles only 3 had specific deliver dates.

I find it hard to believe that the remaining titles 12 weeks out from the end of 2009 will deliver this year.

I am interested in your views on which titles YOU think will make the 2009 timeframe:

  • Jumpgate Evolution - Y/N
  • Playboy Manager - Y/N
  • Sudden Attack - Y/N
  • Quickhit Football - Y/N
  • Mortal Online  - Y/N
  • Dungeon Fighter Online - Y/N
  • Wonderking - Y/N
  • Dragon Oath - Y/N

Try http://www.wurmonline.com .. the most extensive crafting system in any game. You can also terraform the world i.e. change the ground, clear forests, dig canals etc

I'm the same as the OP. i played in Beta and was not that impressed. Tried Aion and deleted it after playing for two days and decided to give Fallen Earth another go.  I am really glad I did. The story line, crafting, combat, skill based system along with the really great community have made this the most enjoyable MMO i have played in the last 10 years.

Finally a decent MMO.

I have my graphics turned on highest settings with the screen resolution 1680 x 1050 and find the quality to be quit good.

That said, it's the game play that makes this game. I find the ingame crafting, skill and combat system to be the best of any MMo I have played in the last 10 years.

Get past your graphic issue and see that there is a really good game here.

This is a really interesting question. When I first started playing MMO's with EQ1 the game mechanics were such that it encouraged grouping. From those group experiences a number of friendships would be grown as you got to know the individuals and there reputations on the server.

However, in todays WOW and WOW clone like games the game mechanics lend themselves more to a solo experience. That same social experience of grouping that I had in EQ1 and the ability to foster longer term friendships ingame seem not to occur. It has become a much more casual gaming experience.

Asking people to hand over money to test drive an unfinished product?  Be interesting if you could get people to do the same thing in other industries.  "Hey, I have this new brand of toothpaste which I almost have the formula correct on. Mind handing over 50c to try it out"?

Good luck with the game. I am sure it will be alot of fun

My apologies if the point of the post was missed.

In 15 years of gaming this is the first time I have ever seen a gaming company turn off their forums when they take down a game server, very strange in my eyes.

Well lets see. In the 15 years and 20+ MMO's I have been involved at launch this was the norm. Examples:

EQ, Dark and Light, Darkfall, Anarchy Online, WWII Online and the list goes on. Indie companies usually have limited resources and focus them on there most urgent issues.  I am not saying its right, It's just a fact of life for these companies.

As Aion has an ingame auction system you have to ask yourself the question "WHY DO THEY NEED PRIVATE STORES AS WELL"?

It is a nightmare flying or teleporting to an area only to be lag/swamped by a hundred people sitting around with text floating above there heads AFK describing their wares.

Just get rid of private stores and have people use the already ingame auction system. Problem solved
