[mod edit]

This card game was in FFXIII, way before your dear Blizzard ever thought of making a card game.

Its one of the feature that was asked about the most by the fan.

[mod edit]

As far as I know FF XIV is an in house game project that doesn't have to answer to any investors... correct me if I'm wrong.

So trolls will be trolls. Go back under your bridge please, m'kay.

Anyways, free players aren't even counted in that 4 millions accounts. So double fail for mr. troll.

Lock this thread... We don't need beggar thread on top of stupid overhyped thread.

There's nothing really new here. Just one more PvP game that looks like crap/build around cost cutting that will be dead in a few month.

That's a game desperately in need of some content beyond the gear treadmill! I hope it doesn't end up just being a mini game grind though. It's easy to fall into that trap instead when developing this sort of content :-/.

Says the guy who has no effing clue.

Says the ignorant people talking negatively about something that has little information out.

haaaaaaaaaaaaa.... come on! Get a life or at least get real. You live in lala land where PvP is THE shi@t we get it. In the real world, not so much.

My stance is, as usual, wait & see what it is & what decision is being made at release. Simple enough.

Stop the hype, stop the pre orders, stop paying for Betas!! ffs

A sandbox without player conflict is a themepark or sandpark.

Completely not true. You may want to re-visit the actual meaning of what sandbox play is. Sandbox has nothing to do with whether you are fighting another player.

Sandbox is about freedom, so it makes pvp a natural fit for sandbox games. Sandbox games need player-driven content, and pvp and conflict offer much of that.

So *my* freedom of NOT fighting other players is not a sandbox, but *your* freedom to do so is? Am I missing something here?

Freedom doesn't mean freedom from something. Otherwise it's just a meaningless, endless loop.

I guess "freedom" also means freedom to oppress -> To take away other players' freedom.

Just stop.

You should probably follow your own words... just saying.

Looks good, but sorry to burst your bubble, its not even close of what quality AAA game are doing now in 2014-15.

What this really means is you guys( pc gamers ) all got sold a beta game. You were just testers ( & cash cow ) for the console release plan has B2P from the start.

I'm not even sure I'll buy when it becomes B2P... Deceitful practice is deceitful & I don't like that at all & you shouldn't either.

Test away! Cuz you know they are releasing this, most likely, bug riden patch now so you guys iron it out for them for the console. Right?

Looks like you are sick of being taken for an idiot... Glad you got out of the world of the blind fantard.

FF XIV ARR.

Log in for yourself with a trial account & see all the new players everywhere.

They are commited to quality, world immersion  & long terme sustainability and its paying off imo.

Its none of this revolving doors cash grab crap that we see way too much these days.

Opinion may vary... oviously.

Life is a grind... So do you not like your life? I thought so.

All that matters is that you enjoy what you're doing.

If RPG's aren't for you, don't play them. Simple enough. :s

FFXIV:ARR is the best MMO available right now in my opinion.

Yes it's a themepark, yes its a monthly fee, yes it's the best.

Fully agree! Why? Simply because its the only great AAA game that hasn't been swallowed by greed.

12.99/month and no cash shop. Beat that!

Here's where you can get the 14 days free trial ( cap lvl 20) for those that would want to see for themself.

http://www.ffxiv-freetrial.com/us/

Just one thing though... Know that at lvl 20, you are barely scratching the surface. Its kinda just the tutorial. The higher you go or the more you do, the game gets better and better. ( of coarse thats imho )

Have fun! :)

To each their own I guess.

Personnally, I found the whole showing interesting.

I have hope they can pull it off. What they are doing is a huge undertaking.

I can't wait to see what they'll be able to do when they're done upgrading the cryengine to 64bits. ( if I understood correctly)

::cross fingers::

There is Treasure hunting map too that you get from gathering from lvl 40+ I think & monster hunt.

Its one of the best if not the best Theme park around right now & probably for years to come as SE have big plans for it.

Enjoy m8!

Edit: Its P2P with no effing ca$h shop. That, right there is enough to stick with it in this screwed up gaming market.

It probably would become violent at some point don't fool yourself.

Many people don't like to be manipulated & lied to by agenda pushing shills.

And believe me, there's a ton around these parts. But of coarse we are not allow to talk about it here or you get a ban.

In a room there wouldn't be bans to protect those asshat & they, eventually, would get their dose of karma in the face.

Maybe then, they would understand what their mother failed to teach them. Some ppl have to learn to hard way, such is life.

Best TP MMORPG out there right now & with a bright future ahead imho.

They are constantly adding to the game with solide regular patchs.

They planned ahead this time & they know where they 're going.

Expansions are going to be HUGE and over the top in classic FF style! ^^

I know I'm being a bit of a fanboi here, but why shouldn't I be a fan of what SE is doing/has done?

They have shown by their actions that they have more honor than most other corp. They:

 -Rebuilt the game.

 - Let people play for free for almost a year.

 - Gave Legacy status (if you paid for 3 month of 1.0 after if went back to a small sub. For 3 months, it was less than 25$) Which give fan a sub at 9.99$ now and forever + some other small unique cosmetic stuff.

 - Have a sub lower than the standard at 12.99$. That's all that you'll need.

 - Have no cash shop.

*It's important that you give feedback on this to SE. Tell them that you want the items to remain IN the game. Personally,I cancelled my sub and left a month go by before coming back when they started talking about the "If the players want it" trying to test the water. Please give your feedback to SE now if you care about the future of the game without a cash shop.*

I was about to continue with a long list of all the things FFXIV has to offer/done right, but there's no reason too... The reason above are enough when you know that the game is AAA.

The beauty of it though, is that, the way the game is designed, makes you go through everything and you can't actually skip much of the high lvl progression to end game. Everytime they launch of patch that adds content, they gradually make the previous content easier by applying buffs. The top end game stuff is always challenging for the hardcore that wants that kind of experience.

In short, if you haven't give it a spin yet, its a good investment for a few bucks. Give it a try.

The issue here, as in all other MMORPG PVP games, is lack of appropriate criminal punishment. ( lack of understanding the basis of playing an RPG game really)

As long as they insiste on rewarding sociopathic behavior & punishing the upstanding Citizen in these games, they will never ever work out.

The past repeated attempts proves it eloquently. No need to argue about it... seriously, get a clue.

Freedom is good, anarchy isn't. Pretty simple concepts, no?

Let me throw in my 2 copper here on this AA pirating scenario. They should be hunted down by a draconian npc police force in all civilized area of the game. There should be jail time, a steep money penalty to be paid & loss/restriction of freedom afterward for quite some time(again in civilized area).

The most important part here is the jail time. It needs to be on a timer that doesn't budge unless the player is in game playing a mind numming unbottable jail minigame. Like forced labor if you will.

After playing that boring mini game for 12-18-24h, they'll think twice about being unwelcomed psychos.

You say these people wont play the game then... ALL RIGHT! Mission accomplish. Only the none sickos will remain. You know the ones who truely want a challenge & understand the risk vs reward of living as a criminal.

Thats my 2 copper.

...

...

My main issue with this is that people playing on older systems with low graphics settings will not be able to see any of this. My 5 year old PC really struggles with newer games, so I was forced to play with all gfx on Low or completely turned off. This made the game a complete blurr with very few fx appearing on screen. (Have a new gaming pc delivered tomorrow) People who cannot afford an updated system would be penalized here.

I still feel that nothing more than a simple dev tweak to the ui, adding a few buff/debuff icons is needed. Add ons are not needed at all.

Thats strange... cuz my PC is older than that & ran the game flawlessly at MAX setting with everything turned on (except some minor things). I was impressed to say the least, but its true. ( PC is about 7 y.o.+)

My spec are:

Q6600 OC @ 3.2GHz

8 gigs of DDR2 ram

nvidia 460 GTX ( the only part I upgraded from when I bought it)

Can I say I call BS on your claims? Maybe not, but I would advise you to look on your side, cuz the problem isn't the game.

I have a feeling you did not read the whole post. No one is blaming the game for anything lag-wise. My current gfx card/system configuration sucks and does not load new areas in any game w out 10 second screen locks. If you don't believe me, not sure why you even care. My whole point was that the lag is on my side; you are creating a non existing argument.

That being said, I would not recommend to anyone to use a 7+ year old PC to participate in 100 v 100 pvp battles. Glad you updated your old GFX card.

Yeah sorry, I kinda misread it. My bad. :s

But, seriously, the game is the most optimized MMO I've seen so far. It runs smoothe as hell on minimal hardware( granted, I haven't done anything pass the starter island) & thats the point I wanted to make.

If some people can't be bothered to have a minimal gaming PC... well, screw them I guess.

Gratz on your new toy! I'm obviously looking to upgrade too... maybe next year. :)

I hope what they do is supply in world indicators of poisons, diseases, etc.  For instance, a green aura around your character when they are poisoned.  Maybe some glowing wings when they are buffed, etc.  Whatever.  In world indicators would be better than interface indicators.

I think they are all meant to have them although I think some might be bugged and some are missing at the moment. For example, the Light Armor active skill, Annulment and its morphs put a semi-transparent white cage around you, the DK skill Draconic Armor puts spines on your back, etc.

Even some procs have a visual effect like with the Sorcerer's Crystal Fragment, the morph of Crystal Shard that gives it a % chance to become instant cast and cost half magicka after you use any other magic ability, which puts a purple glow around your hands when it procs.

I also would like to see them all be visual, in-world indicators.

Do that for all buffs/debuffs and add a combat log and I'd be 100% happy.

Edit: As for the thread subject... Its a damn good thing. I want to play the game as intended & feel immersed in it. Not game the game with add ons. ty

Only 5!? You must be kidding... Yeah, sorry, but I'll go with more than that. here it goes:

Ca$h $hop - Thats just plain bad all around for hobbiist gamer.

Instancing - Thats a no go for a genre that calls itself MAISSIVELY MULTIPLAYER.

Phasing - Make the whole world/zone change & then change everything else around that, not the other way around. The world change THEN quests, mobs, etc. change accordinly. Everyone see the same thing!

Mob on leash - Cut 'em loose like it was before & let the careless die or learn to play.

Hand holding - News flash, the average age of gamers isn't 8 y.o. Stop designing games for retards!

Quest hub leveling - This is just bland & uninspired game developpement & needs to go away asap.

Quest marker - Let people explore ffs. There's other way to show there's a quest here... & no all quest don't have to be pointed out loud & clear to you. FIND THEM!

Lobby inspired queue - Make something hybrid, more social that just a Q.

No roleplay fluff - Its a RPG after all... I mean come on!

Anything cross realm - Goes totally against community building.

Not seamless - Small issue, I don't really mind zones, but seamless is better for immersion.

Ca$h to gold - P2W = NO THANKS.

End game focus - Think about the journey man. The journey is the game not the destination.

Unregulated economy - I'm sorry but I'm sick of botters/cheaters/exploiters controlling the market & jacking price up so that you almost have no choice but to go without or buy gold. STOP RIGHT THERE! No, snap out of it, a game economy isn't like the real world, it wont regulate itself... periode.( Not that this crap is working in the real world anyways, but thats another story best left untouched )

Game altering addons - I want to play the game not game the game... if that make sense.

Global chat - Small issue. As it can be deactivated or ignored. But I find the attention seeking tards very annoying.

RPG-lite - The core of the game is progression. Do it properly or don't call yourself an RPG. Its pretty simple...

Maps of everything - Let people explore, find things, developpe their ressource as they delve further & further into the game.

Lifeless world - Life is crucial for immersion. Day/night cycle, living NPC, weather, etc.

Cartoon Graphics - Personnal taste... I don't feel immersed playing as a cartoon in a cartoon world. To each their own though.

Limited skill bars - Options are never a bad thing. Limiting this is bad game design imho.

Fast leveling - This as to stop! It makes the whole game pointless as you out level everthing in a matter of hours. Ridiculously bad for an RPG.

Gear treadmill - There's no need for this & old MMO are the proof of that. Diversifie! Rare gear shoud be rare & not necessarely all at high level.

Instant travel - Why make an MMO then?! Stupid is stupid. Totally counter productive.

Simplified dungeons - Lazy game developpement for lazy/casual tourist. There's other way around this.

No challenge / easy mode - Whats the point of a game where you can just faceroll the content all the way to epicness... None.

No housing - This goes without saying. An avatar in a virtual world needs a god damn virtual house to live in. /sigh

No dedicated  roles gameplay / Trinity - Zerg gameplay sucks balls in a PVE game.

Forced soloing / too much soloing - Its an MMO ffs. To those that say that you can always group, I say; In what world do you live? The content is already in faceroll mode, why would I make it even more pointless by grouping?! They rebute by saying; But you can skip to a higher level zone to fight tougher mobs. To that I say; Why would I buy a game to skip its content?! Thats retarded. No, I have a better solution... Make most of the damn game a challenge to begin with. Solo game are that way >>>. kkthxbye

No complexe fully fleshed out crafting - It needs to be a game on itself & hard to master with ways to contribute to the game at every level.

So, in other words, an MMORPG that IS an actual MMORPG and not another fraking instanced lobby arcade hack'n slash game.
