Ya know I normally wouldn't bump a negative short sighted thread like this, but:

I visited my neighbors last night and well they were playing Skyrim together. Gaming is something that brings them together as they got a big HDTV and  PS3. I remember before Skyrim visiting with a different couple a couple of years back they were playing Oblivion together and were having a good time with it. My son and I both played Oblivion and Skyrim; this is saying alot as I cannot hardly play single player games as I prefer MMOs. To this day my son says his favorites games are Oblivion and Skyrim and he is so looking forward to Elder Scrolls Online, as am I. Now consider both Oblivion and Skyrim are both Elder Scrolls games and single player games which have alot of replayability (This says alot for any single player game!).

Elder Scrolls Online is going to have a bigger world then Daggerfall/Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim all put together as its going to display the entirety of Tamriel and its going to have 3 different alliances (comprised of 9 races total) so you can play and enjoy all 3 alliances content thoroughly for 100s of hours doing alot of what many previously enjoyed playing Elder Scrolls games in the past, yet within a community of many other real life players. Crafting, Trading, Partying/Socializing, Exploring/Adventuring, Duels, Buying/Selling, Guilds, etc...enjoying everything you would in any other Elder Scrolls game yet with 100s of other players simultaneously interacting in a huge medieval themepark.

Elder Scrolls online will be played on PC/Mac, Xbox One, and Playstation 4 (Next Generation Consoles) with all the graphical goodness of Skyrim at highest settings (if not better) operating at optimum performance on your HDTV.

If that doesn't grab you where it counts and kick you where the good lord split you; You can venture to Cryodiil with all your buddies you enjoy playing with and alongside to participate in every aspect of PvP; keeps, towns, buildings, NPCs/MOBs, siege warfare on all types of terrain in some of the largest scale PvP many of you will ever experience for countless hours. Your alliance can overcome the other 2 alliances (which I doubt will be an easy task) over time, which provides bonuses for your alliance teammates with the capturing of keeps/lands. If by some slim margin your alliance is properly motivated and successful in dominating the other 2 alliances (again I don't see this happening easily)  and aquiring/holding all lands/keeps in Cryodiil, you can sit one of your own on the Ruby Throne as Emperor and have supremecy over all of Tamriel!

If you are not convinced this has chance to be a good game then I irrefutably doubt you, your expeience with playing any of the Elder Scrolls games, your experience as a MMORPG player, and any of your opinions/posts from this point forward...

Consider wtf your posting, before you post a thread of any kind on a public forum, often comprising 1000s of visitors daily...

You never actually played Daggerfalll did you. Running from one end of Morrowind to the other is probably an hour, maybe an hour and a half. Oblivion is under an hour. Skyrim about the same I think. Daggerfall is so huge it would take many many hours to do that. It is that big. ESO will be far smaller than you will imagine, regarless of how many area will be put ingame.

As for graphics, maybe if compared to console graphics, but it will not look as good as topline PC graphics. This is just being realistic.

I won't buy it anyway as it gutted everything I liked from TES.

Man, if you guys like arguing about this one... I can't wait to see your reaction to next week's "Worst of 2013... So Far" list.

I think SW:TOR should be on that list.

It should be the same list. Just imagine the outcry after that.

Utter garbage; MMOs are evolving all the time. Wax poetic for the past... Yes... Claim 'pure truth' ... Nonsense.

When people talk about EverQuest, Ultima Online, DAoC, SWG, we mainly hear good things.

When people talk about AoC, WAR, STO, CO, SWTOR etc...  it's 95% negative.

Problem is it's the same people doing the praising and hating. Give it 10 more years and this list will have shifted to the next set of games. Things are always better back in the day... Well these people reminiscing just brush over all the bad things that went on as well. Plus people get older and focuses change. Things I used to like are no longer on my radar now, but at the same time going back to them now would not work. Please just stop with the rose colored glasses tainting everything.

And here is why you can't believe one word this guy is saying. Much loved Shrines of Bori. If anything was hated with a passion by pretty much all it was shrines of bori. Lets make a PvP addon by having them do PvE.

Asfor the singleserver tech. It's pointless as the game population is horrid anyway.

mkay Sovrath.... Lineage 2 is also good, but I think ech character alone in AoC have double the amount of animation bones.. as in the wrists can move in AoC, The arms can extend more realistically... etc.. It makes a hell more of load movementwise in an massive event. Just sayin... Are there any other good MMOs that can match these two?

You sure got a hardon for animation bones. Not sure why you're using it in your argument, as it has virtually no impact on the actual gameplay.

In terms of massive? EVE and Planetside shits on both these games. But neither has the amazing amount of animation bones that AoC has so I guess they don't count.

same looking star systems with nothing to see but some planet surfaces, stations exteriors and asteroids doesn´t really compare ya know.

EvE is cool, but it´s only big because of empty space.

Planetside 2 is also a bad example, really bad, because AoC has easily 8-10 times the land mass of Planetside 2

The only bigger gameworld I know of is WOW, that "shits on both these games" if you want to put it that way

So the criteria for most massive sieges is

- overall landmass

- number of particle effects

- character animation count

- actual number of people in the siege is not a factor

I would normally say EVE, L2 and Akia have massive sieges, but I can see we're not really going by any logical criteria so I'll go with what we have above:

By your standards, LOTRO's MonsterPlay, kicks AoC's sieges to the curb. More animations and particle effects, huge detailed terrain in the battle zone.

Hey all I am saying is that there is no problem having 150 vs 150 vs 150 stick men with 20 animation bones running around in a "siege"... But that is just plain idiotic. You see it over and over again whenever you bring up a siege discussion. Peope that have played MMORPGs for a while, would typically refer back to ancient ugly shit from the past as the most massive siege events just because of the shear number of people in the event. I think those crappy 20 animation bone mmorpgs from the past should be completely excluded from massiveness discussions. Again, there is no technical challenge in getting 500 people into an event as long as you turn them all to stick figures from the 90s. The term "Massive Siges Event" today, in 2013, should in my opinion envelope so much more than how many guys you can get running around in the event. I think you guys know where I am going with this... I am saying that AoC has more stuff going on in it's sieges that any other MMO if you considder the product of number of people with number of animation bones. Every person has like 212 animation bones... There are like 96 people in on the siege... Thats like 20352 animations continously running in the game updating vs it's server... On top of this comes all the stuff these 96 people are able to do to it's event environment... set walls on fire, operate siege machinery, spellweave, etc etc.... I just can't think of any other game except perhaps Lineage 2 that have the same amount of stuff going on, on the screen, than AoC.

20 animation bones *450 people = 9000 animations at the same time... Not very impressing compared to AoC.

Those same 96 people also ctashed 80% of the sieges since launch. Sieging in AoC was never more than a gimmick and one that never got a proper fix. On that bases we should exclude AoC from all future siege discussions.

OP title should read: I have learned nothing from past dealings with EA.

I submitted a ticket and started mailing with them......after 4 or 5 try's they solved my issues i had and never had a crash ever yeah they ARE awesome.

ps: it had something to do with my GFX card that didnt react good to some settings i put it on......they found it and fixed it.

So i kinda doubt that you even reported it and worked trough emailing them with the right info to get it even fixed.

They dont wave wands to solve shit you know.

Your story is irelevant.

The fact that they helped you fix your problem, which seems like it was a very special problem

affecting only your system, cannot lead to the conclusion that they can and will fix any problem.

I don't generally  crash in GW2.

In fact the only time the game might crash is when this bug happens.

The bug is a fact, and I'm not the only one getting it.

There are numerous reports and videos about it.

My initial post was not about a bug reporting to their support.

No it was about complaining and making sarcastic comments. And you wonder why you got infracted that fast...

Maybe you should try some civility instead next time.

I don't care for it on the official forums and neither here. You have one dev saying something most likely from a very skewed view of the situation. It's one sided and honestly I would like the full picture. Even then, demanding this will only detract from game development. I would much more like a coherent world than a broken up one due to some people demanding a certain area to be put in.

From a lore point of view Cantha and Elona are actually off limits until certain things are dealt with. Zhaitan might be dead but his army and armada si still out there preventing ships from sialing to cantha. There is also bubbles the deep sea dragon somewhere there. On top of that cantha closed itself off from outsiders, remember. To get to Elona you need to cross the crystal desert a bad place to be before an elder dragon set up shop there. No doubt even worse now. Not to forget the desolation with yoko.

Currently Anet can go north towards Jormag and the former Charr lands or south towards droknar's forge and the northern part of the crystal desert. They can also go west into maguuma more. Lots of options that make a whole lot more sense than going to other continents at this point in time.

You can bet that if GW2 were a sub-based game those poeple would not have had a perma-ban placed on them.  Anet got their money so no skin off thier back.  I don't feel sorry for them one bit.

So doesn't that imply that a P2P game won't ban exploiters and an honest person is better off playing B2P games?

In my experience people get banned a lot less frequent in P2P games. A lot of the times it is just a slap on the wrist and saying don't do that again or we will slap you on the wrist again.

As for the dev in the pic not being able to confirm or deny if it was an exploit. I'm sure somewhere in their contract it states they are not allowed to discuss such matters. Especially not ingame, but if a dev says they can't confirm it you better assume it IS an exploit. As for the forums. A lot of MMO forum have a rule of not allowing exploit discussion on it. To not spread out the knowledge even more before they can fix it.

Anet's stance on exploiting has been clear since GW1. Exploit and get banned. Now as with the first round of banning for the karma exploit they might allow people back in if they make a support ticket. Through which they convert the perm ban to a 3 day ban. Now they might not ofcourse.

All games has exploitable content. You can be greedy and esploit your way to a fortune and hope they don't catch you or you can be an honourable person and not exploit. Don't whine if you do get banned for exploiting though.

The problem with xfire is that you do not know if you are comparing apples with apples or apples with oranges. If xfire sees a 75% drop for a certain game, but those 75% are hardcore player whilst the game is marketed for casual players than you can not conclude that 75% of the casual player also stopped playing. This is why xfire will never give any remotely accurate numbers for anything. Just a shame the pro xfire people refuses to acknowledge this. If xfire is correct than it is just a coincidence and not because they deliver accurate statistics.

As for GW2 the population certainly is down. It is just very hard to say how much down it is due to levelscalling, which spreads out the population a lot more than any other themepark out there. Coupled with WvW, SPvP and dungeons it will just get very hard to tell from looking outside in. All I can say is. It is harder to find groups for dungeons, which might not mean anything actually as I run guild groups quite often so others probably do as well. My server has almost no queue for WvW. I still encounter people throughout several midlevel areas, which is a good thing.

I did some recent ping trace and my lag could have partially been due to my ISP having one router dropping 25% of the data going through it.

I do understand how frustrated people can get with Events like this.  When things are not going well, people do have the tendancy to vent, when aggrivated or frustrated.

As I said, I chose not to partake except one dungeon run (fractals) when I timed out. It does happen.

When things don't go well? The event was a clusterfuck of epic proportions. Massive lag spikes, culling, disconnects.

First event massive lag all around

Second event didn't even happen on my overflow server.

Third event was the worst. As many people got hit by disconnects at the end and didn't get a reward.

I am actually glad they are adding another tier of armor. And i hope they keep adding more as time goes by. It is a very good move by Anet and this will surely bring me back. I haven't been playing GW2 that much lately.

Yes gaining 1 player for every 100 they will lose over this seems like a very good move.

It's currently on the second page of general discussion
When going by these forums all MMOs are great just before release and suck 1 week after.

GW2  has been painted into a corner by a small subset of the genre, people who don't want progression or competition. I do not see where GW2 can expand.

The small subset that is painting it into the corner is actually the other side. The loud vocal small subset.

Counter question. How would you feel if all raiding from all games got removed?

I am definetly looking forward to this as well but wish they could add true content that lasted instead of doing these one-time run offs.

The lost shores is permanent content. What isn't permanent is the one time leadin event that will explain the added content changes.

xfire rankings (the only way to accurately measure the success of an MMO).

People say things like this purely to start fights, right?

Oh look, we're off and running on a brand new "my game sold more neener" "did not" "did so" "did not"

Must be Saturday.

One of the few things said in this thread that can actually be verified.

Impossible. Xfires saturday data is not out. And xfire is the only available reliable data we have to determine time, because I say so. I've always claimed I wa proven right about my claims in the past, even though I just made this up,  so now it  must be certainly undisputeable fact already.

Its still Friday.

No, What i was saying was the fact that today is Saturday is one of the few facts from this thread that can be verified.

Make all the sales they want but most people stopped playing or are starting to quit.  At the end of the day it has no retention value and that is what makes an mmo successful.

Pretty stupid statement! Sorry for the harsh words but first of all GW2 doesnt rely on a monthly revenue through subscription. Second, if u look at their current server status u can see that US and EU servers are quite full. Third, the p2p modell gives people the oportuntiy to com back when there is content they are interested in.

The last holiday weekend is a perfect example. Server Population spiked that weekend and i am also sure that the ingame store revenue did so too.

Those server statuses are so false I can't believe you think they are acurate.  Hard to make sales when no one plays the game barely. Everyone on my server left so even if there is a couple populated servers that doesn't make the game successful.  We will see in 6 months when they do server merges.

No one really.

But he's playing on an imaginary server in his head.
