The lifetime insurance people got for kickstarting the game seems like pay to win. Anyone know if you can still throw money at them to win? Simply put, throw a guy with the lifetime insurance against a guy without it. Who is the one who can keep going at it ad nauseum even if he gets killed?

There is No MMO Without Microtransactions
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/29/13 9:42:54 PM
OP did you miss the early to mid MMO era? They were all subscription fee + box purchase, though some had no box purchases. Those were the days, where EVERYTHING obtainable in game. Now we have these greedy bastards who put up a subscription fee and a cash shop. And people still defend them when someone complains. Honestly I would prefer subscription, but apparently microtransactions make more money. Of course you have people saying they spent $100s and upwards. I used to be skeptical, but it's seeming more and more plasuable. Sub games were superior in quality, though some greats did come out of F2P. The some of the communities kind of suck for f2p's though. |

Didn't you have to pay for the unsealer? I thought it was cash shop only. Anyways, I would raise a stink about Aeria not letting people play the game nude if they want to. Probably gets in the way of their pay to fap model. I think the biggest issue is that they banned him because they "Got complaints from other players". Really? The game is rated M and it's not known for it's gameplay. I would take this to reddit, youtube and wherever else you can bring down Aeria's name. They really suck as a publisher anyways. If you didn't have to p ay for the unsealer, I think it's worth for people to go in and run around naked just to see if they will get banned. |

Pervy is not cute when little kids are around
General Discussion « Scarlet Blade 4/22/13 3:31:33 PM
I thought the age gate on pornosites did a good job of keeping kids out, we should use those. Jokes aside, like with porn sites, how do you expect companies to ensure everyone is not a kid? Require the typing in of a credit card everytime? That leaves open the potential for card theft, and besides lots of these kids probably already had sex with their school mates and are on their way to a pregnancy (Not kidding). I think the game would help keep virgins. |

Originally posted by Amjoco The game was over-hyped and people still in the "Honeymoon" phase rated it high and defended it from their short time experience with the game. As you play the game more and more, you realize it's a shallow game with good graphics. Hype ratings are not an accurate representation of a game's "Fun factor" for reasons like hype, opinion, bias, experience with the game. Essentially to level, you have a story which is inferior to Guild Wars 1. The levels jump so you can't keep doing the story and need to grind. You can grind hearts (Do repetitive kill x or pick up y). Dungeons were OK, but Arah still needed fixing from when I tried that one. PvP is imbalanced, they couldn't handle balance in Guild Wars 1 with many skills, in GW2 there are less skills but they still can't/refuse to balance insta-kill warrior, thief and the fly all over the place and kill you elementalist. Play those classes if you want easy kills, I know I do, but it's all fun and games until you run into another OP class user. Guild Wars 1 I believe was a great, Guild Wars 2 falls flat. They should have focused on what was great about Guild Wars 1 instead of trying to copy. |

Guild Wars 2: Leaderboards Arrive
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/08/13 4:09:22 PM
I believe PvP was more fun in Guild Wars 1. Why the devs seemed to be in love with capture point PvP instead of straight up deathmatch is beyond me. If anyone recalls, Random arenas had capture point maps added... Then quickly removed after large complaints of how it wasn't PvP/boring. Guild Wars 2 SPvP is all capture point PvP. Anyways, the PvP still needs balance. You can still run the same OP builds as before and get free kills. |

That price is sickening. I have a question for people who actually do this kickstarter thing. Do you make back your initial investment from any kickstarter things? Or do you just get whatever prize they set for your funding range and a copy of the game? $5000 is not what a virtual inn is worth, and it seems like it's implied that you don't make your initial investment back or additional profit even if the kickstarter succeeds.

Dear ZOS, Please Don't Let Paul Sage Wreck This Game...
General Discussion « Elder Scrolls Online 3/29/13 2:32:24 AM
I may not be a master of lore for Elder scrolls games, but aren't the factions in ESO set up so the 3 most popular races are separated for population's sake?

FAQ still says 2013. But someone interviewed the lead Sage guy at PAX and he said "When it's done". So do we expect a delay or what?

The titular Scarlet Blade is your own after you're done playing. The character designs are excellent, but the game's just a grind. PvP if you make it past the grind only happens once every hour or once every 2 hours for the second map. Nudity is in, unless you want to play the censored sentinal class. Cash shop item for that though.

Too much cartoon, not enough poon. No joke, it's too cartoony and there's not enough decent looking character designs. Additionally the combat and PvP looks like run of the mill stuff. Yeah, people shouldn't judge by graphics, but they do. Look how badly Wizardry Online got booed out because of it's graphics. |

Crosshair, what is the use in TESO ?
General Discussion « Elder Scrolls Online 3/25/13 12:10:17 AM
I think soft target shouldn't exist. One thing Guild Wars 2 did right was projectiles. If you shoot an arrow at someone but another player is standing infront of them, the arrow should hit the person in the direct path.

Originally posted by Sephiroso Oh man, I'm not up to date with the MMO raid numbers so a man named Sephiroth thinks I've made a fool of myself! The shame! Anyways, I was talking about DKP in relation to being in a guild. How many people want the raid goods and just join any guild that's open? The problem with raids are you are stuck trying to find a guild that actually has space and on top of that, you don't wanna leave because you'll lose your DKP. Finding a "Good" guild is part luck, it's not easy getting the stars aligned so that you get a decent leader, an active guild, people who aren't _____, etc. With 4 man dungeons, or even 5, you're not stuck hoping to find a good guild. The number's small enough to be able to find a pick up a group and not be gimped because you didn't become a slave to a guild. You can weed out the douches with a simple blacklist/block and friends list the nice players. |

Having to play with 39 people I don't know for a DKP chance of getting the loot I want? No thanks. I think the 4 man dungeons are superior, I don't have to deal with any huge ego guild leader and I can pretty much form a group any time I want.

Website says highest ranking player of an alliance becomes emperor. http://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en/game-guide/the-alliance-war I think that's the only best way to do it. That way you don't have Walmart/zerg guilds putting their leader up, making it a fight of who can recruit the most. I think it really boils down to pvp balance and if you can get the kills. Either that or use the OP builds. |

I thought the netgear sent signals straight to your brain and the controls were all thoughts? I a lot of people just want to fit SAO onto whatever game they're playing. Is Sword art online free to play by the way? Cash shop items let you not die in real life... |

People say they find the old school "Grind" yet if given the option to skip it, would they take it?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/18/13 12:18:13 AM
Old school grinding doesn't really exist anymore outside of Korean MMO's, even then the exp curves aren't as steep as they used to be. I don't really hear people saying old school grind was great, but instead that it was rough. Once you do 5% an hour, you don't want to do it again. Ever.

FFXIV will be the game of 2013 my bet!
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn 2/24/13 8:18:54 PM
It's still turn based smacking. The dev even just stands there and uses the mouse to click the skills in the dungeon video. They learned nothing.

Gear either does or doesn't affect gameplay
