Diablo 3: Jay Wilson's Departure Stirs Angry Debate
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/21/13 2:07:18 PM
Originally posted by expresso Completely DISAGREE. Items on the RMAH are found by players. Yes. But when you have countless people running 24-7 bots, the RMAH becomes completely packed. The prices drive down to nothing. So let's take Player A who spends 700 hours earning the best gear. He enters into the PvP Arena and get's 1-shot by 30 hour Player B (who got a $50 bnet gift card for Christmas).
RMAH isn't needed for some story fanboy. But most players who play play to be competitive. RMAH doesn't belong in a competitive game.
Diablo 3 is simply bad and the publicity is proof. |

The game launches this Wed. Check it out! I'm playing it now via beta. If anyone is interested in playing the game via voice, hop on our Path of Exile Mumble Server. fish.mumbleboxes.com port: 36101

Diablo 3: Jay Wilson's Departure Stirs Angry Debate
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/21/13 1:08:55 PM
Diablo 1-2 was ahead of its time. Diablo 3 is so behind its time that it's not even funny. Diablo 3 is nothing more than a cash-grab via Real Money Auction House.
I play the game to be competitive. Since PvP was said to be soon after launch, my goal was to obtain the best gear before such an addition and to be ready. I spent hours and hours of grinding, trading, and obtaining gear. However, the economy had gotten so bad due to the constant botters that someone with basic pocket-change could just buy the equivolent of my hard-earned gear via RMAH. It was a major turn-off. |

Why do "some" people enjoy an MMO being shut down or doing badly?

Choose 1 movie, How would you turn it into your "ideal" mmo?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/21/13 12:43:20 PM
I got this from another post a long time ago. But I completely agree with it. If I got to choose a setting, it would be He-Man (Masters of the Universe).
Sandpark (but more sandbox). A SWG with a hint of EQ2 and Path of Exile (Deep Passive Tree). Deep Character Creation: You must create your own unique character, race, and profile.
We have Swords, Shields, Magic, Guns, Tanks, Flying Ships, Creature Mounts, Factions, Combat, and more... It's pure virtual bliss. Our players won't be limited by mere Sword & Board / Duck & Shoot combat skills. With MoTU's history of unique characters and how each one has a unique combat attribute, we have free customizable reign. It's time to create the greatest MMORPG in the world: Masters of the Universe Online.

WoW = NGE, AoC, WAR, Aion, Tera, STO, SWTOR, etc.... When non-innovative games fail, people are happy because they think that it will be the final wake-up call for future developers. The problem is that it's rarely the case. SWTOR is probably the biggest flop of all time. Finally! The Theme Park trend is over! Woohoo! <60 days later> The Elder Scrolls Online is announced...
People don't like to see good games fail. People like to see bad games fail. |

Wizardry Online: Underground Dragoon Ruins Video Released
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/21/13 12:32:07 PM
My friends and I played the beta. To be perfectly honest, we didn't even get out of the starter city before uninstalling. The graphics look good. However, the controls, the final fantasy-like asian story, and the linear mindset hit hard during the first 2 min of gameplay. It looked and felt like a console game. |

There is no maybe. I've played the CoD series since Call of Duty 2. I would never hurt anyone.
People are eithe rmental or too wrapped up in what society thinks. |

Current state of MMOs? Terrible. It's sad that the only game to capture my interest is a top-view diablo-like game that was created by a small indy dev team: Path of Exile. |

In real life, I didn't start off with a CDEF Pistol and a Melon. I started with a boob and a bottle.

I'd honestly like to see an "EverQuest "Next" forum. After the game is officially named, I don't see a problem with renaming the forum to the new name. EQNext is obviously a reality. We might as well be able to talk about it. |

So I'm working all day on the computer (coding). I wanted to take a 15 second break to load up my game and check the Auction House. This is when my wife decided to pop her head in my office to check how I was doing. Argh. Probably thinking that I've been playing for hours. Anyone else have perfect timing, too? |

Path of Exile makes this game look like Pong. I'm just not interested in the diablo games anymore.

Absolutely no need to waste that money. None at all.
HD 7850 - Great card. Runs anything I throw at it on max. CPU? Any i5 / i7 will do. MB? Just make sure it has what you need, e.g., single or dual pci-e, usb 3, sata 6, or whatever.
You can build a superb system from the ground up for less than 1000.
Anything more than $1,000 is spending top-dollar for a few extra frames. I'm on an old i7 920, and I'm a prize-winning FPS / 1v1 player. MMOs run just as good. If you spend that money now, the system will depreciate to nothing by the time a mmo worth playing is released.
The only thing I recommend is a 120hz LCD. n00bs will claim it's ability as a placebo. Not true. The smoothness, especially in FPS, is superb. I've been pro-gaming since 2000: Unreal Tournament / Quake etc. WIthout trying to sound like a butthole, I know what I'm talking about.
SAVE IT. You will be sorry that you spent it. Invest it or put it in savings. |

Path of Exile: Open Beta Coming January 23rd
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/10/13 7:33:07 AM
This game is so much deeper than any of the Diablo games. It's what Diablo 3 should have been. It looks a lot like Diablo 2, but the depth and complexity of the skill system, the barter system, and progression make it much better. There are several server types (realms) to choose from, e.g., general, open pvp, hardcore pvp, cut-throat pvp (enemy drops all items) etc. If this game somewhat interests you, go to their website and read more about it. You will be shocked at how "adult" it really is. |
