I hate seeing comments like "why not wish for TOR to succeed?" Well lets see, because the current fanbase for tor has made a mockery of any good lore or ideas that came out of KOTR. No wait im sorry, the TOR devs killed it, and the majority, who will accept anything new that comes there way, just go along with it.

Sad day, in the war on terror SPECIAL FORCES

Originally posted by grunty Yeah I cant even believe the OP is serious when he says that they probably died from a mechanical failure, a rocket hit their copter and im pretty sure they dont put seal team six on a poorly outfitted military helicopter.
We are talking about the same group that had a specially trained military dog who could find secret passageways behind walls here.
Dont downplay the victims and their cause by saying they were underfunded because despite how shitty it was that they got taken down, it wasnt because of funding; it was because their transport vehicle got hit by a rocket. |

Did people honestly forget about playable races being ONLY humanoid?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 7/30/11 9:38:15 AM
Really guys? Everyone goes on about how this game isnt half-assed, and how the developers care about Star Wars and its Lore and creating a story based in the Star Wars universe, and you cant even play as a Rodian? A Mon Cal? Trandoshan?
Instead we get red and blue skinned humans and Twi-leks, thats it! Come on now guys, seriously with a budget of 150 mill, they could do the fans and the lore some justice and do some more intricate playable races.
I was just looking over the SWTOR offical Forums and apparently "The Developers will add more races at launch". And everyone excited because "They already have Models in the game for other races." Again, is there where MMO's have brought us? Where people lower their expectations completely and hope that they just magically pop in with the other races at a later date, come on, how many MMO's have you played where they have models in the game for multiple other lore based races that never make it in?
Anyone else disgusted with the slim difference in Races currently in TOR? |

General: Carbine Studios Ready to Unwrap Mystery MMO

This one had me intrigued.
http://www.carbinestudios.com/media/uploads/images/wallpapers/carbine_battle_1920x1200.jpg
At first the art style reminded me of WoW until I saw this pic. Looks like Ryzom and WoW mixed which could be decent as long as its not super linear.
Theres also another picture where a human theif has a gun, so I would guess theres a mix of different technologies in the game like WoW, War, etc. |

Best website to build laptop (Formly used Ibuypower.com)
Hardware « General Discussion 7/01/11 2:39:34 PM
So I made a desktop using IBUYPOWER back in 2007 or so. Around 2009 the hard-drive and graphics card both got taken by overheating or whatnot, turned out they never included a network card I ordered, and then now two years later, the same problem. Alot of this I can probably say was my GTX 8800 cause those were just poorly made graphics cards, but still im kinda burnt by IBUY.
Now im looking to get a laptop and I was wondering if anyone knew a better site that would let me customize it, but not have to build it myself, and for a decent price?
Thanks alot!

Firefall: New Video Diary With a BIG Surprise
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/01/11 1:48:33 PM
As much as I appluad game companies for getting big name writers, its proven to be more of a novelty than anything, something to pulls sub numbers. I mean as much as I love Orson, why not give a younger person who has a love for MMO's or just games in general to write the backstory? Im sure theres more than enough capable people who would work for a fraction of the cost Orson would, game companies need to start realizing that riding gimmicks like these dont generate more sales in the long term; its just a waste of money. |

Why not join Perpetuum with me tonight?
General Discussion « Perpetuum Online 6/29/11 11:51:38 AM
I mean lets be honest, if theres ever a time to try out this game, its right now. Sandbox, PvP, Economy, more action oriented, plus all the new corps and clans joining from other games? A group of friends of mine just recently got together for a group chat last night and decided to get the game tonight (June 29th) around 8 PM Eastern time.
With most of them burnt out on WoW, a couple of disgruntled EvE players, and of course myself being a long time MMO player in need of something a little more hardcore, we talked about how Perp is the best choice for a sandbox game right now.
The Influx of EvE players will garuntee community and above all else, Action. PvP has always been one of my favorite parts of the MMO scene and you can be sure that were all going to do some mass PvP this week and weekend in PerP.
All I know is, I havent followed Perp since its release, but I know it got off to a rocky start. This could be exactly what the developers need to really make the game great, if they push it now it could go on to be a big name in the MMO scene, or at least better recognised and for right now, what else is there to play?
If your intrested in joining up with us, just PM me or post in this thread. See you guys in game!
Edit Note: Plus theres a 15 day free trial, in case anyone is just looking to PvP for the weekend. |

Tabula Rasa was always my fall back game and it still would be if it was around. Whenever I had a weekend off work I would call my friend up and have him resub and we would take a few bases on a random planet and fight wave after wave of enemies, sometimes hundreds. Just us two and a couple of straglers who decided to stay and fight the war. It was an amazing game, if only they had developed the game as its later futuristic self from the start and then the game code might not have been so terrible. Seriously, did anyone ever see the game on low graphics? It looked like an N64 game and still lagged like hell. I never had the graphics problem because ive had the same computer I built back in my senior year of high school, But the game could still be around today if NCsoft had allowed it. In fact, right before the game ended they rolled out multiple epic patches including a Trip back to Earth and Mechs! They named epic gear after players, had great in game social events, and clan battles got things going PvP wise. The game was a sci-fi roleplayers dream and it wasnt even a sandbox. I remember a giant base in the mountains where a spaceship would fly in through the roof and hover over a giant landing pad in the middle of the base. Me and my RP clan of Mercenaries made that our main RP spot and spend hours just talking with people, getting in duels with other clans, the game really did have something special. Give me another decent original sci-fi game like Tabula Rasa, its not that much to ask is it? |

I actually like the name, its not Elder Scrolls or anything but to me it sounds like a poorly recieved RPG from the 90's that you still think is one of the best games ever. In other words it kinda reminds of a "planescape: torment" |

I am tired of all the negativity on these fourms the game looks good
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 6/11/11 7:06:30 PM
Originally posted by MMO.Maverick So theoretically then, I could take a shit in a box, label it an MMO and sell to you for 50 bucks, plus sub fee's and it would be innovative?
Ok so lets say by that standard definition it is innovative... In fact no, im going to go ahead and say your right, and im wrong. Ill admit, its innovative. But is it strong innovation or weak innovation? Its weak innovation because its letting the player take command of a situation and then as soon as another player steps in, a random dice roll says whose right and whose wrong. Thats not player interaction, thats the game mechanics stepping forth and deciding for you. Now again, why is this weak innovation? Because BIoware and all the TORheads are going on about how you get a choice and it effects your gameplay, well no, it doesnt. It effects gameplay up until the part where you have to interact with another player (In an MMO mind you) and then it just shits on the whole concept. Sorry guys, Innovation can happen in an MMO and if the kind of innovation you want is some weak, half ass programmed dice roll than go ahead. But dont argue here on the forums and whine and complain about people hating your game when you cant formulate an opinion that isnt jaded as hell. |

Anyone that can watch The Developer Walkthrough from E3 and still say the game looks unique, fun, well designed, graphically inspiring, or anything that can be considered positive is either incredibly dillusioned or just has no taste for video games.
Seriously, someone tell me one good thing about that video, please im begging you, give me one thing about that 11 minute video that looks positive. Even the whole dialouge choices part in the dungeon was pathetic because it just goes to a random roll. No wordplay, no struggle for good and evil, just a random chance that someone going to kill the guy or save him. Im sorry thats not innovation. |

It feels good to have the random excitement of Patch Notes back!
General Discussion « Rift 3/30/11 6:21:39 PM
Seriously, the last few MMO's I have played, the patch notes would either be sub-par or some really lame event that I had no intrest in (DCU Valentines day update).
I had a rush this morning going onto my Rift patcher and reading the update notes, not because there "Was alot" to read, more because there was huge signifcant changes, and I didnt expect them at all.
It reminded me of playing EQ Adventures on the PS2 at my friends house, and late at night we would see a huge update out of nowhere and after reading all the changes would be so eager to try out the game world again.
Thats basically what I felt today with Rift, its a game I bought on a whim and didnt expect to play it more than a couple hours and now I cant wait to see what each new patch holds.
Plus thats the other big deal for me, theres actually new things with this patch, Video Capture is an awesome community building tool and just an awesome thing to have in your game. The new invasions, class tweaks, UI changes. Some people will say they just put this out to keep subscribers.....
Um Yeah? Good! I want a company that wants me to play longer, and they arent just adding things for the endgame they are making the entire game better, anyone else excited about this patch?

To be honest, I never even notice the big differences everyone complains about majority of the time when a new patch comes out.
I mean yeah, there are times when something gets nerferd really bad but I honestly dont see the complaining. IF you really get this worked up about a number ratio for your imaginary elf in a completely made up fantasy world, then your in trouble. But maybe thats just me. |
