World of Warcraft: Mr. T "Mohawk Grenades" Commercial

World of Warcraft: Top 5 Things Coming In WoW Patch 3.3
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/10/09 4:48:41 PM
" My only concern is how the timing lines up against Cataclysm. My guess is that we will see 3.3 sometime in early 2011, possibly even the end of 2010. If this is correct we will get a good solid year of game play out of Patch 3.3. Mike Morheim said at Blizzcon that Cataclysm would launch in 2010, along with Starcraft II. So the question is how much will Patch 3.3 be worth once Cataclysm comes out? My guess is very little beyond the memories."
Was this a typo?

I went into my local Wal-Mart and looked at the case for Champions Online. To my amazement, there was a big yellow sticker on the top left corner that said "60 days free of game time!"
I have seen alot of MMO's for sale, but never have I seen one give out two months of free game time. Also the price had dropped to 39.98 instead of the 50 bucks.
For a game that only released two months ago to the day, things are not looking good, but I give the company props for dropping the price early, if AOC or WAR would have done this they probably could have grabbed more people to their respective games.

On Morrowind: Why the annoucment of Balmorra has made me rethink my RPG adolescence!
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 10/21/09 3:42:50 AM
I thought I would post this on here to gather some peoples thoughts on my article. To me When you look back at all your favorite RPG's as a kid, you seem to remember small details about each of them, that otherwise would slip your mind. I think theres a huge lesson to be learned for game developers today, who should really look back at their RPG adolescence and garner some ideas from it.

If you have a drummer who plays off time and off beat the entirity of a song, you tell him to pick it up. You dont laugh it off and go "O well no ones perfect, lets just play off time for a few more bars?!". I dont know what you look like, but i can imagine your face with this chuckled look on it going "Dont worry guys, it will be ok!"
And as for "Getting rid of corrupt politicians", what are you some closet theorist who thinks it takes a mere phone call to change political standards? I believe it was Burke who said Revolution is a fallacy, and that men who wish to change their government must do it over time, slowly. Forgive the people on this forum for not getting up right now and planning the changes that will occur forty years from now for their government.

And apart from RP and run a guild, i do participate the rest of the contents...
O ok, I completely misinterpreted that, but im sure you can see where your sarcasm could appear misplaced. But yea I agree with you, horrible article haha.

Sorry bud, its not Blizzard who forces people to grind gear end game. Its people who force people. Just like its not Blizzards fault people dont RP, its not Blizzards fault people only see the game as one dimensional.
You dont need to have a player driven economy and a dancing class to make a game social or fun. Seriously everyone needs to quit the WoW hate. ITs been five years people, and people complain about the SWG vets, your average "Hardcore wannabe" will always be worse than any EX SWG player! -Jive

-While out hunting you come across either a giant furry man, or a ravenous over sized lizard, or flying Bi-pedal with hooves. -Neighbor is constantly "gardening" in his backyard with a shovel, candles, and ritualistic sacrifice. -Your Spouse is staying in all day, and "Working" all night. Asks for a large amount of toothpaste, or a "Bloody Mary" at dinner. When I look at this game I think of....
General Discussion « The Secret World 9/06/09 1:07:55 AM
I thought this would be a fun thread. What do you think of when you look at Concept art (Or sceenshots if they are current to this thread) of "The Secret World".
People may think im crazy but my answer would be,
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer"
I mean if you look at the concept art, it seriously looks like they took some locals right out of the show. Especially the concept art that shows a "LA" looking bridge and city street.
If they do this game right, and actually make it more than your average MMO, give more mechanics that are its own type of game instead of sticking to the winning (Or right now losing) formula, this could be a winner.
And it could just be the thing Buffy or any other type of similar Sci fi fans (Im talking to you, X-Files guy!) have been looking for in an MMO.

The Secret World: PAX '09: Artwork Explosion!
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/04/09 11:09:32 PM
Originally posted by dhayes68 Its a fresh look for art. Its not a fresh look for an MMO til it launches. Not trashing the game, but tired of companies using hype to sell something that no one will be able to judge accurately til 6 months after launch, ya know? I say this as a pre-ordered, collector's edition, closed beta, early stater of AoC.
Hey I completely understand, but you can only blame yourself. Funcom may have been deceptive, and told a hundred lies on what was suppose to be in the game (I mean is there drunken brawling yet!?).
But ultimately it was you who chose to put so much stock in a game, and you were the one pre-ordering without any real information on it.
Its like buying a car, I saw this amazing new car in a catalog just the other day and I thought "man that thing looks like it could drive great". But I didnt go out and order the car right there. I mean the pictures looked great, and the spec's sounded too good to be true, but I didnt rush my choice. I ended up driving it today and it was just ok, it didnt have nearly the power I thought it would, and I ended up just passing it by.
I think people like to go "Well its only a 50 dollar purchase, so dont compare it to a twenty grand car". Well thats just the way our society seems to view things now adays. They take money values like a childs game on a school yard than anything else. Just think resposibly, and if you want to take the risk and deal with the uncertanity than do it, but please dont blame the company for your dissapointment.

I love how the Dragon Model has the Katana in one hand, and the old school looking 1800's pistol in the other. I think it may be the Flintlock pistol, but with an updated (more modern) barrel.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS ONLINEâ„¢: SIEGE OF MIRKWOODâ„¢
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 9/04/09 1:43:15 PM
You people are serious? Your actually going to pay money for this expansion?
Sorry if im not jumping to join in with the crowd and say "what a great expansion" because honestly this is the saddest excuse for a payed update I have ever seen in my life.
Seriously what are you getting for this? Someone said "New features, content and changes to exsisting systems".
Um ok I see one new feature, which just sounds like a solo freindly side grinder for the new 5 levels they added.
Content? I see new missions, that is all. Why not throw in something of value other than just quests? Whatever happened to new hobbies? Or maybe a revamp to the horrible housing system? Or even just something to make the game not just about fighting. I remember when this game was originally known as Middle Earth Online, and it was actually going to be good. They had a system where you could write your own books from parchment found in rare dungeons. It was kind of a way to "Pass on your story's to others" like Bilbo did. Why not something innovative and new like that? Instead you get Skirmish's with NPC "Pets" and some tweaks to combat.
I played LOTRO and I actually enjoyed the month or so I spent in game but this is not worth whatever price they are throwing on it.

Dragon, this game actually looks intresting to me, it seems like they can basically put any type of secret or mythological entity in the game, which means it will probably be really diverse and fun.

No Aion, no Champions Online ? What are you playing instead ?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/26/09 2:11:03 PM
EVE online. It has been two years since I last played the game. I loved it at the time but ended up joining like three or four different bands that kept me away from doing anything besides jam and write music.
I just finished the novel for EVE called "The Empyrean Age" and it got me stoked to jump back into EVE. Then the annoucment of DUST was all I needed and I got the game back. I truely can not understand why more people dont play it. I understand the whole "My avatar is a ship" thing, I felt disconnected in the same way when I played it two years ago. But now I see the ship as more an exstenstion of my character, and my potrait being the real me. I think reading the book and then skimming through the downloadable PDF Lore book that is over 300 pages really connected me to the universe.
I recommend new players checking out both, not before they start the game but during their playtime, so you get the real picture of the universe.
