Drunk PC use in general is just not very much fun.

I find it fun. Maybe not very productive though as I'm sure I've ended a relationship or 2 that way.

Lol. I imagine it is even worse than drunk texting if for the simple fact that you can probably type faster, more efficiently than the little phone buttons. ;)

I think I avoided the whole drunk texting issue, skipped right to the drunk send voicemail button. As for PC use, the drunk delete run.dll32 for fun and then haha and restart is probably the only time I've had a truly bad time.

It's been a pretty good 100% success rate in gaming for happyness though, thank the gods lol.

Some of you seem to have found a happy point. I cannot find that point with alcohol. Mildly buzzed to wtf you doin total wipe out. A guesstimate then?

How many beer until the relaxed optimal performace?

What we do in LAN parties!

DEATHMATCH! We play an FPS game, anyone who dies takes a shot!

In the end fk it the person who's winning takes shots for every kill he makes!

and finally when everyone's smashed~ time to play some Co-op in any game!

Reminder - keep your rigs and electrical chords higher than the alcohol. You will usually want to bring extra keyboards, mice and monitors, because you go through them quite a bit.

If you have some extra cash bring an extra rig~ I for one have trashed a few after raging drunk~

LAN PARTYING SINCE 2004! BREAK YOUR FRIENDS, BREAK YOUR RIGS!

Cheers to that!

It is absolutely not possible to properly game while smashed. I am indeed testing this theory as we speak and I have to say, it's not working. The constant themes of this session seem to be "I didn't notice that" or "Fuck it, let the healer do some work".

Soloing is a no go, It's like.... a no go lol

PVP - forget it. Where do i start... not where I'm supposed to, I can tell you that much.

are you really smashed? how can you type so well? when im smashed i cant see the keys lol

Many years of practise and very slowly.

i did rather well being trashed in WoW on pvp. i seemed a lot more relaxed and focused, seeing what others were doing to me and how to counter them came to me a lot faster. until you get to that point where the world starts to fade, then next thing you know you wake up on the couch w a dry mouth n stuffy nose, fully clothed, the hiss from your speakers blaring cuz your playlist ran out hours ago and 'you have been disconnected from the server' is on your monitor.

ROLZLOL

Yeah, you do terrible, but it can make it more fun as well, especially if you're in voice comms with a buddy or two, as you bash, stumble, and die repeatedly through whatever you're trying to do for the night. This is enhanced when the game has steep consequences for failure/dying, as the deaths tend to be much more LOL worthy. Don't let the set backs get you down. Enjoy them :)

I can see that being so very awesome until..durn durn durn... you wake up in the morning with said concequences?

Dark Age of Camelot was the best pvp game ever made, and will probably be the best pvp game ever made.

I have to agree about the first part and I hope to all the gods, new and old, that it won't be the best ever made. I'm still optimistic that developers will come out with something just as good or better than DAoC PVP.

Guess they can't afford those fancy CGI videos anymore?

New payable race is another odd colored human.

Maybe if they just replace what they have now with SWG, keep the swtor graphics... Prob not even then.

This might be the last time I even post in anything to do with swtor.

First, a definition.  Escalation of commitment occurs when a group is working on a project, and at some point in the project it becomes clear that things aren't going well or maybe even the project's original direction is fundamentally flawed, but instead of stepping back and rethinking things, the group just throws more resources at the project in the hope that things will just "work out."  This may sound stupid, but it's a relatively common problem.  When a group has worked on a project for a long time and invested a lot of resources, sometimes it's tough to admit that mistakes were made early on and rethink things...it can be much easier in the short term to just try to "power through" your difficulties by escalating your commitment to the project.

Now onto SWTOR....

The more I look at SWTOR, the problems it's having, and the solutions that its devs are proposing...the more I think that it was a victim of escalation of commitment.  For example, myself, and many others brought up the concern that BW"s strategy of making "fully voiced" a flagship feature of the game was problematic in the long-term because it would make creating additional content very cost prohibitive...and in a subscription themepark MMORPG that lives and breathes on content additions...this is not a good thing.  And now we hear that (surprise surprise) SWTOR's additional content won't be fully voiced.

I really think that at some point during SWTOR's development, its management had to realize at least on some level that this was a big potential problem.  But instead of stepping back and rethinking things, they just threw more and more resources at the game and plowed forward.

The same can really be said for many of SWTOR's shortcomings such as the single player space combat, the gameplay that apes WoW just a bit too much, and the really half-assed open world PvP.  I really feel like at some point in the middle of the project, the devs probably realized that these ideas were all not as good as they seemed at the onset of the project, but basically just chose to plow forward with a flawed concept instead of stepping back and rethinking things.

In the end, I really think SWTOR would have been better off with a more iterative development process.  All of these systems and ideas should have been prototyped and thoroughly tested, with the knowledge that if it doesn't work, it will be scrapped.  And I think this is important...devs really need to be willing to scrap their ideas if they turn out to not work once you see them "in game."  But I feel like with SWTOR, the developer just plowed forward with their original ideas regardless of if they "worked" or not.

Thoughts?

As usual, I mostly agree with what you're saying. Maybe this "escalation of commitment" had a spalsh of "bad ideas" on the top though.

Moving forward, even though I don't play SWTOR (only the beta) I feel like they are betraying their current player base by not having additional content being voiced. Mind you, I, like many others, spacebared through almost all side quests. However, the main quest line was ear worthy, sorta.

I can't really speak on anything else, other than reminding everyone that Bioware was essentially.. Canadian.

Yes, the spectacle of humanity...

One scary thing is that there are people who believe that humans are the pinnacle of God's creation.

It would be even scarier if this were true.

Technically, if you look at it from a biological and evolutionary standpoint, humans are the "pinnacle" of creation.  That doesnt mean we're so superior to other animals that we shouldnt fear some of them.  But, the fact that we could easily wipe out any animal we pretty much choose on a whim speaks volumes.

Tell that to cockroaches and rats!

We could, but it would be more like mutual destruction.

The last time I had a truly great keyboard / mouse experience was with Advent Rising lol

That's absolutely correct.  Unfortunately you only get one chance to make a first impression.  They blew it.

Another year would have added a full space sim and removed the linear quest map design?

You're def. not speaking for everyone.

Poll it.

Months ago before I started ebta testing this game I was very excited. I had bought into the hype that GW2 was the future and was gonna do things differently but after all the beta testing I finally had to be honest with myself about the game. The truth is that GW2 is basically more of the same with a few differences.

1. No raids- ANet removed raids because they know that their PVE system is to simple and casual to support complex and difficult raiding. Raids like everything else in GW2 (like pvp) are nothing but a button mashing zergfest. Having raids would have made this all the more obvious.

2. No sub fee but cash shop oreiented which borders on P2W- One of GW2 's big selling points is that it has no sub-fee. This is a good thing but in all honesty they HAD to do this since GW2 simply doesnt have the content to justify paying a monthly sub. So instead ANet added a cash shop which gives rewards as good as the best stuff you can find in game and other things which makes it arguably Pay 2 win. And even if its not P2W at launch its obvious to anyone who is familiar with MMO's that it will end up that way.

3. Pointless zerg pvp- PvP is supposed to be the strength of GW2 but in reality it is extremely shallow. PvP basically consists of running around in zergs and punching gates for hours on end for no reason.  There is no actual purpose to GW2 pvp. No ladders, rankings, and no way to build a rep because you are given a generic name so nobody knows who you are.

4. No endgame- GW2 endgame= the same stuff you were doing since level one since "everything is endgame". Once you hit 80 there is nothing to do which provides actual character progression anymore.

I really wanted this game to succeed and be great but I cant lie to myself. The fact is that GW2 is shallow and generic. Its more elves and orcs fantasy that we have seen a million times. GW2 is really just WoW minus raids and sub fees. Luckily TSW's excellent stories and atmosphere which is unique and difficult will be able to tide me over until Planetside 2 launches which will be the next big MMO that revolutionizes the genre.

No one wants to hear a detailed honest opinion about GW2 that is negative.

Everyone wants this game to succeed, everyone wanted SWTOR to be awesome too. No one besides corporate competition wants a game to suck and fail. So when you find fans of GW2 or even SWTOR talk about "haters" it's really pathetic. Because we just wake up in the morning and hope to find another sucky game... right?

What it comes down to for me is that I'm not overly concerned about playing with other people, so I'll just stick to superior gameplay in SRPG's like Skyrim, for now.

Be a baller and buy both.

I don't expect a big overlap of either, but that wasn't what he was talking about. He said the player community interested in EVE lore. Another genre and another platform of gamers means the introduction of the EVE universe and its lore to an entire new subset of gamers that more than likely never even heard of EVE before, let alone played it.

The PS3 market is packed with FPS, Dust will be another of them with an unknown IP

If CCP would have merged EvE and Dust, they would have doubled the subscription.............they just lost a chance

I can't find fault with that logic. I've been waiting for an excuse to get into EVE this late in the game, this could have been it.

Everytime I see another "has left Bioware" posts I start involuntarily laughing, I was positive I had more self control than that, apparantly not.

I can't even tell if we're past the trainwreck part and just counting victims or if the real fall is yet to occur. Either way THANK YOU GHOST12 for sharing, you've just made my day.
