I was expecting to see at least 1 positive comment about this game from a fanboy or someone, but nothing. Everyone has given up defending SWTOR?

So, Blizz went and payed for the best. you feel about 2d classic animation...well that is the mater of taste.

I knew it looked familiar! It shared that Dark Fury style. Probably would have preferred something from Blur Studios though, full CGI.

I think that the game should be the same amount as it is here in the United States, which would be closer to 37 pounds. However, this game still seems like a bargain to me. No subscription fee should save you some pounds per month.

I like this type of accounting. Saving money on theoretical costs is the best way to make profits or steal underpants!

theoretical? the price of digital editon of GW2 is the same as others MMORPG. all around 50€, but even if GW2 cost some pounds in begining (not case...) you steal save lot of money compared P2P MMORPG.

its not theoretical, if you want play P2P MMORPG you must pay the sub otherwise you cant play. in GW2 you only need to play the game nothing more to get all the game, but you can still spend money in shop if you WANT.

i dont see any steal, steal was if GW2 were a P2W MMORPG and that is not the case.

compared with P2P games yes, you are saving lot of money for year...

Here i'll explain. Saving money involves not spending money at all. The only way you can save money with an expenditure is if you have no choice in the purchase, and by making an equivalent purchase you spend less.

As far as I know, buying an mmo is optional.

The theoretical part kicks in when it comes to subscription costs and duration of play. You have to assume long term subscription and you probably assumed it at $15 a month, neither of which is likely for 50% or more of players of any game. We also have to assume that GW2 is an equivalent game in order to estimate a "savings".

Example, does it have equal content to say LOTRO? Is it even a long term savings compared to that game's lifetime subscription model? Isn't LOTRO free? How about Rift, if you play Rift for a few months, with no box cover price isn't that cheaper and therefore a savings?

In other words you generally can't save money while spending it AND what are you comparing this too, WoW? Well, an annual sub got you D3 a little while back, the promotion may still be going, if you were going to get D3 anyway aint that a "savings"?

Theoretical, understand my drift?

I doubt the joystick will remain and gesturing + voice takes a ton of energy from the human body. Probably keyboards will just get better until a direct mind link is formed and even then... maybe optical controls will make a huge play combined with projected controls based on the game.

Joysticks and gamepads aren't going anywhere. They're just plain more practical for certain types of games than mouses and keyboards (yes, "mouses" is a proper plural form of computer mosue).

I dont think any form of input will be disappearing. They'll just keep adding more and more, giving us more and more variety. In the end this is a good thing because its always nice to have options.

I wouldn't be surprised to see mouses with analog sticks tacked onto them in the future.

I spoke prematurely about voice commands, but I think in 50 years or less we won't have joysticks / pads. Interesting fact about mice and mouses wasn't gonna say anything about it btw lol. EDIT: Seems u got psycoanalyzed for it! lol

If 14% of TES sales are PC, and the MMO releases only for PC, I'd like to know exactly why it would be a good idea to cater to the 86% they already left behind instead of the 14% of guaranteed sales?

Unless of course they make the MMO available on consoles, then sure go ahead and appeal to... whoever.

I can only say that as a TES PC customer I wouldn't buy this MMO if it was just like all the others but with the TES skin. Like I said previously, they are not swigning giant Mario dicks, general masses don't know shit about TES. No need to appeal to them, they already have WoW, unless they think Blizz fans will jump ship?

O well, who knows. Next drink of crown royal should have me visiting my ancestors anyway.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but your tapped out. What your looking for in an MMO takes a while to "earn". You have to stumble upon and or make a group of friends in-game or IRL that you can play with to have "fun". THEN you have to hunt down content in the game that you all enjoy together, ontop of that you must all be max level or attempt to level simultaneously.

Best advice is to save your money in this rough economic time and exercise patience. Keep an eye out for something that glares at you instead of MMO hopping.

Alternatively you could start D&D tabletop gaming like I did, but you run the risk of getting into sticky real life social issues lol.

Good luck, I'll be interested to hear what you ended up settling with.

Thank you very much Sir. Last link brings me to the newegg homepage but since I needed to get my Mom some flowers for mothers day it worked out :D

If you replace everything else, then you can't just reuse your old OS license unless you have a full retail version, which is pretty rare.

What hard drive and monitor do you have?  And you really do need other peripherals (keyboard, mouse, speakers, surge protector) new, too, even though you have an old monitor that you can keep?

Hard Drive

The monitor isn't really a monitor it's This

I have a few unopened OS' hanging around. Mostly 7 ultimates and  homes, I still have an unopened vista home premium too, lol I should use it as a coaster.

I've got a bunch of logitech keyboards / mice and all those other trick or treat goodies like surge protectors, speakers and UPS's.

I get free shipping on anything going through UPS, If that makes a big difference.

OS - Check

HDD - Check

Monitor - Check

Need everything else. Budget =  $700 give or take. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Wow his argument flies right over your head.

Yes, it does as it has no solid ground whatsoever.

You only rephrased what I said already, making same invalid conclusions as OP.

With or without "TES features", the IP is not strong enough therefore it is reasonable to use the lore and make what you consider "mediocre and generic game" because apparently those games are where the money is.

And I am still waiting on explanation how bad this idea - using the TES lore, is...

For the third time...

It's a bad idea because the ES IP is not what makes the Elder Scrolls great games.  The ES IP isn't anywhere close to the same weight class as a more popular IP like Mario, Zelda, Star Wars, or Final Fantasy.

Think about it this way...if Nintendo came out with a Tetris like game that features Mario...would people buy it?  YES, and they did...Dr. Mario.  People bought the game because they love Mario.  It is a valuable IP.  If the game were called "Super Pill Quest" it would not have done nearly as well I'm sure.

Now if Bethesda came out with Elder Scrolls Puzzle Quest where you have to solve visual puzzles inside Tiber Septim's palace ala you think it would instantly do well because it is "Elder Scrolls?"  I really don't think it would.  If anything, it would succeed on fail on its own merit, and it would probably confuse a lot of people who were expecting an Elder Scrolls game.

The point is that what makes the ES games good is the open-ended gameplay and the fact that the same dev team has always worked on them, giving them a feel of progressive quality...each one just gets better and doesn't lose much.

ES:O has neither of these.  It's made by a COMPLETELY different team, and it's a completely different kind of game.  So the only thing it really "gains" from being an ES game is the IP.  And that's probably the least valuable aspect of the ES franchise.

Now if you want to argue against this...that's fine.  But please don't respond saying you are still waiting on an explanation.

ES doesn't carry that kind of household weight, even my Mom in her 60's knows about Mario. If I said Elder Scrolls to her I would get a blank stare. Just think about it for a minute.

A WoW-ified Elder Scrolls is dead to me.

If it looks like it sucks, or isn't the same general formulae of the RPG then I won't throw money @ it. If they stop making the Single player RPG in an attempt to heard players into the mmo then I'll read more books and play monopoly.

On my most recent build I decided to cheap out on everything. UPS had decided to destroy about 3 and 1/2 of my machines so I wanted to just throw something together.

Went with some cheap $60 Gigabyte mini ATX board, some DD3 3 @ 1333 an i5 2400 that was on a nice rebate, a used 6770 for less than $100 and some other not too fancy parts, totalled around $450-500.

The machine runs 720p on  max, I havent tried it on the 1080p or 1080i screens of 42+ but on the 22's it seems just fine. Actually I should mention I recycled a few parts like the PSU and 1 of my HDD's from a working machine.

Compare this new machine to one of the "Premium" 2008 machines it replaced that had a E8400. This new PC destroys it in every category. However, the E8400 has served me well for 4 years, awesome-ish right?

When I think of real "Premium" parts I usually think of Core 2 Extremes or cpu's similar to that price range $900+ and of course mobo's that are in the $240+ price range. Since I'm not a competing pro gamer or very rich I can't really justify spending 50% - 100% more on parts. So I just keep my eye on percentages spent comapred to "Premium" and usually the best bang for buck is half the cost of premium parts with less than a %50 difference in performance.

Presently I think it's a radical difference compared to even 4 years ago. Now you can get a cheap machine and it will run everything you want, where as in an E4400 will suck balls vs an E8400 even back then.

Anyway to try and answer, I think buying a cheaper more banging for your bucking machine every 2 years might be superior to buying a more expensive premium machine every 4 years.

[mod edit] . You guys really LOVE GW2, so much so that it's making me think I should try it.

I swear it's like you guys had a second Christmas or something. I only have one small problem, the only consistant thing I read or hear is that combat is AWESOME. That's it really, nothing else of note. Then again, I tend to skim when I read. Anyway can I get a GW2 fanboy [mod edit]   point me to where I can find the most informational post about this game.

Truth is, if the only improvement is jerky combat then [mod edit] I only have one more shit game in me before I have to quit MMO's forever.

Alternatively I have to admit, after watching some of the beta vids on the Tube it looks 1million times better then swtor, [mod edit]

No, i got first warning and now i lost 2 stars over night

That's funny, not that you lost two stars, but because I lost half a star defending GW2 by pointing out someone who created a thread to troll the GW2 subforum lol

NEVER call out a troll! NEVAR! Trolls are the people that bring the most to's table. Without them this site would be nothing.

True story. I could fill a planatarium with the stars lost from calling out obvious trolls.

BTW I really like your quote lol

I find that HILARIOUS, mostly likely because of this thread you'll lose the rest of your stars, you may even be suspended lol

I'm too sleepy to check myself but am I right in assuming you didn't express your dissatisfaction in a contructive manner? Not that you should.

EA going belly up? Looks like an early Christmas kids :D

If they get it cheap enough they could gut it and piece out all those ip's?

I'm still looking forward to this game. Basically I'm only playing Skyrim and with no Co-op it's kind of bitter sweet. On the other hand this single player must be online bullshit is pissing me off. I thought all the statistical facts proved otherwise. I'd really like someone to try and hack my lan game.

Anyway, yep pretty much feel like the OP on this one. Not much else out there giving me glossy eyes.
