Bottom line, they messed up the whole shabang.

They got a hold of one of the best IP's in the WORLD arguably a top 3 IP and they shenaniganzed it starting with not making their own engine, then continuing with not making a proper mmo. I can only guess what all those network tv commercial spots cost. What's a 7:30pm TV commercial spot cost these days? 

So after they finish WOW-ifying and GW2-ifying the market and sales continue to NOT be like WOW in it's prime maybe they'll notice a trend.

I don't know about anyone else but I can usually tell a lot about a game from GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE.

Also a long time fan of D&D / Forgotten Realms Neverwinter Nights, fan of the D&D Table Top experience and the books etc...

I did not feel like I just experienced a Forgotten Realms setting.

So, back to Skyrim?

Thanks for the detailed reply. On one hand I hate that computer parts are so temporary but then again, I can't remember the last time I kept a main gaming PC for longer than 2 years. Summary:

Buy the best priced HDD and stay away from Hitachi and Seagate.

Roger that. Kind of funny that I found large amounts of people supporting every brand, I guess that's just how human statistics work. I bet we could find a large group of people that said McDonald's breakfast was a healthy meal.

I'd like to buy another few storage drives, nothing less than 1TB each drive.

I've heard a pretty much 50 / 50 debate on either manufacturer. I've personally went with WD for almost all my life, I experimented with maxtor once and of course the one time I did deviate from the WD path, the drive failed and it didn't take very long.

I read somewhere (Ah no sources!) that seagate uses better tech in their HDD manufactuering and thus have better drive performance. Is that true? Does it make a difference? Go with whats cheaper?

Also, I've got a tip on a 6950 2GB edition XFX for $150 or should I just suck it up and buy a 7850 for $175 on newegg?

The mood here @ MMORPG.com is totally opposite from a year ago lol. When I was kind of doom and gloom everyone else was misty eyed and hopeful.

So anyway, I'm not feeling TESO, I don't see the badassness but I love Skyrim to death...obviously. I actually think Neverwinter is looking pretty decent. Like everyone is saying, only time will tell, but hell no, no pre-orders for me either.

Nothing new here, hell, WOW does all the things he's suggesting anyway, like how Paladin's can (or used to haven't played in a while) heal with Divine Storm.

I'm not one to remain stagnant though, I think there is a better system than the Trinity, I'm sure a few smart people have already come up with a superior alternative, in a smokey basement somewhere. Maybe not smokey, they might have vaoprizers.

For those thinking "blah etc..so on and that we don't need to reinvent the wheel." I have one word for you, TWEEL!

I went through several phases that held the same opinions of almost everyone who posted in this thread. The answer should be easy though, some are smarter than others therefore some will be TOO - smart or experienced or both and then some. That's just reality right? Not all gamers have the same level of intelligence or experience.

For some, playing modern MMO's has become tedious. <Searching brain for metaphor> like playing tic tac toe. At some point you master the game and it is no longer a question of being challenged but more of a torture / grind scenario.

I'm pretty sure she already has peripherals etc... She IS sticking with the asus case (I think thats what she likes most about the PC). I'll go ahead and pass on the whole 'go make me a sammich" 

The whole issue of the refund could suck though. Having to wait up to 2 weeks for anything is never awesome.

I'm hoping you all can nerd rage and help me with a little problem I have here. I've got yet another friend who has recently bought a computer from best buy. I believe it is this model:

It cost my friend roughly $800 - I'm assuming this doesn't include sales tax. My friend then continued on to buy a replacement video card, the AMD 7770 and an unknown corsair 700W power supply.

The bottom line: I was trying to convince my friend that with basically $900 she could assemble a much better PC herself. Can I get a little support here, I don't want her to get the short end of the stick as I've seen so many friends down that path, purchasing store bought PC's only to have it backfire in their face. All the items were bought in the last 24hrs so i'm thinking that returning everything shouldn't be a problem.

She mostly plays MMO's but would like her PC to be capable of running the most graphic intensive games out today at decent framerates.

For some unknown reason she thinks made a great purchase, I would like us to turn her from the dark side!

After watching that 10 minute trailer that put out for the game I was literally laughing in my chair. Watching scenes where it was taking 5+ people to take down things like a Flame Atronach was just plain silly to me. Dungeons from all the other ES titles were a very special experience.. Creeping through them slowly, watching for traps, stealth takedowns, epic battles against superior odds. Then you watch that video and see people bunny hopping about.. Nothing during those 10 minutes of footage made it look different over anything else we have. It looked just like a WOW/SWTOR dungeon zerg. 

 

If what they have shown us so far.... Is what the game is going to be like.. Its going to be another 2-3 month speed bump title for the majority of the people that play it. 

 

As far as I knew, bethesda had nothing to do with the development of TESO. That ofcourse leads me to think is just a branding scam seeing as how it's been pointed out a bunch of times how the lore has been butchered in order to make race / map locations easier.

I wasn't impressed with the gameplay video either and the only thing I hope for at this point is that they don't pull a SWTOR on me I.E. Delay or cancel another single player RPG installment in favor of attempting to get more sales from their online title.

That gameplay video was pretty disturbing actually. I felt like I was being scammed when they kept showing the melee characters in the Skyrim horned helmet. I'm looking for a longterm mmo home, this isn't it.

I finished up a case in court recently. The judge threw out the corporations TOS and they were forced to pay me. A TOS / EULA are not law nor contracts. That said, it is still possible for a company to protect themselves to a certain degree using either. Either way, once you can prove an injured / violated party, you are golden.

Usually you'll find those terms and agreements irrelevant unless the user / customer has broken the LAW (this includes violating a companys rights, as in the case of Hotz).

TOS' agreement types that state something like "subject to change without notice" actually negates the entire reason for an agreement. These are also very different from contracts and, contracts cannot be subject to change without notice so... figure it out.

Bottom line: You might be able to get a refund on remaining unused subscription time because of the drastic change in the service, providing you have already attempted to negotiate a refund with the company and have been denied or ignored.

+ Most likely it's not financially worth your time to persue this but, if you have the time then sure, might as well. Ironically people here might tell you it's a waste of time, while wasting time telling you it's a waste of time, unlike you though, they have no potential of any financial gain, they're just wasting time.
