I'm going to wait until you all beta test this game for me *cough* pay and play for a year *cough* then I'll jump in and try it when it goes F2P.

I have a short story to tell.

I had started playing Rift again after taking a year off. I had only ever played Rift casually due to being burnt out from the gear grind in WOW. When I restarted Rift, I took 1 look at the new Storm Legion gear grind and decided to quit again.

I don't think it was the gear grind or the promise of the gear grind that made me quit both times, not exactly. It was that I had already done everything that Rift offers. I'd done it for years. I had done it in every MMO I played since I started playing MMO's.

I'm just not interested in doing the exact same things anymore. There are only minor differences in those types of games, the majority of those differences are in the art work and very minute player class mechanics.

What's weird, sometimes I find I'm having a lot more fun watching other people play i.e. Watching Starcraft 2 pro gamers playing against each other.

I suppose the point is, if you are a veteran MMO player, you've already done it and you don't feel like doing it anymore. Seems natural that no one would want to do the same thing over and over forever, sex may be the exception and even then...

someone already mentioned the new wave of games coming out. They all look pretty fun, I'm looking forward to "The division" and "Titanfall" among others. Tired of games, the solution is just to wait, I guess.

I feel lucky that I got that 7950 before everything went berserk. Even some of those R9 series are $100 more than I think they should be. I don't think it's bitcoin necessarily since asic mining is the go to these days but still, even the R9 series! I'll just keep waiting or prowl craigslist, dubious as it is.

Though that asus gtx660 DCU II edition is properly priced, The one I have now is pretty good so I'd trust them over power color assuming asus honors that gift card rebate. I'm still waiting on a gift card from Sapphire, those SOB's.

I'm building another gaming machine, I'm trying to hit under the $750 mark, and I usually do and, very easily if I get a cheap but solid case (The Antec One has become one of my favs recently). So I'm looking for a nice card, 7870, even an R9 series will do but, something under $200. Then I noticed. Not one of my go to vendors have those cards for under $200. I seem to remember that LAST YEAR these very same cards were in the $170's with rebates and free games. On newegg it's not so bad but on Amazon, it's like a holy war, these cards are $230+ for some reason.

Is that reason really bitcoin?

I just built a system with the FX-8350 not that long ago. All I can say is that I didn't notice a huge performance difference between that and my 2500K or 3570K systems, not in gaming anyway. Seems to me that the real issue would be price or if you use apps that take advantage of more than 4 cores, video editing etc... If budget isn't an issue I'd just go intel, and go big (i7 4770K or 4930K).

On my 3570K machine I'm using the AMD 7950 and I haven't run into anything I couldn't max, then again, I don't game over 1080p on that machine. Hope that's helpful.

The lay of the land is.

I swapped the CPU's for obvious reasons. The issue was that the 27" screen would no properly resize to until I had uninstalled and reinstalled the Nvidia GTX 660 Drivers. Actually, the system more or less acted as if I didn't have any video card drivers until I had done said uninstall and reinstall.

On the other hand, I threw the 3570K into the Z77 did a restart and WHAM! Everything worked smoothly. No reinstall or uninstall necessary.

Does anyone know if there was a particular reason for this?

Time to upgrade?

First, thank you for all the advice and help over the years. Even back when I was just lurking, you've helped me more than you could know!

My advice to you is to spend that chee$e, get the 5 big screens and the full tower case and all the bells and whistles. You've been making that phat lootz, it's now time to spend some. Sell the old machine, keep your storage drives, transfer the data and shred'em, get a new burner, blu-ray even.

What's next? Gonna jerry-rig a tesla coil to your balls to be a ghetto cyborg?! Stop the madness and build a signature worthy rig!

I say this all out of love!

I've gotta say, the only reason I have a major dislike for ESO is because for some reason I have it stuck in my head that it will delay the next Elder Scrolls single player installment. I have enough generic MMO's to play, for free.

I have kept it in mind that it will probably be several years before they drop another Elder Scrolls game. Yes I did get into the weekend beta, I mean't to give the key away since I didn't feel like playing it but I never got around to it, sry guys :( I'll give away the next one!

Uther The Lightbriinger

I always liked the title "The Lightbringer"

All I can say is that it felt like a downgrade after replaying NeverWinter Nights: 2 Gold Edition. They probably got off 100x better as a F2P Cash Shop. OP might be a little misguided.

A cache drive doesn't let you decide what gets installed on it or not.  Rather, it tries to see what you use a lot, and puts that on the cache drive.  That gets you some of the benefit of a proper SSD as a separate drive, while paying all of the price tag.  That's a lot better than the "hybrid" drives that Seagate is pushing.  The real target audience is people who are too clueless about computers to understand installing programs on the SSD and putting bulk data on the hard drive.

While I've never heard of someone burning a house down in the process of building a computer, some of the truly awful power supplies are a fire hazard.  But that's easy enough to avoid.

Also, it's better to ask what to get before making the purchase rather than after.

Is it easy to avoid when buying a dell?

wait, no?

I'd guess the OP is talking about SWG, a game I never bothered to play since it looked to be not my cup of tea.  I don't think ONLY ONE MMO ever has left people feeling this way.  I think it's a genre thing.  The MMORPG genre has the potential to form strong bonds between people in any decent game, maybe even in games that aren't decent, if they happen to hit it off and "live" the game together for a spell.

For me, I could say that about several MMORPGs.

I still think about some of my AC friends because we played together every day for weeks/months on end.

I miss some of my old DAoC friends.  We were like a family and I kept in touch and eventually lost touch with some of them over many years.

I played WoW for 6.5 years and several of those years with the same crew, many of whom I've played other MMOs and even other genres with since, and many of whom I either still keep in contact with (they hop into my vent to say hi) or yeah, wonder how they're doing and hope they're well.  Some of us are in constant contact and play whatever game together, or even if we're all playing single player games we're in my vent talking - just about every day.  A lot of people bash WoW and I think that's ignorant and petty.  It's clearly one of the best MMORPGs of all time and not all people that play it are bratty twerps (bratty twerps are common in ALL modern MMORPGs these days, sadly - it's not bliz' fault the genre has shifted to appeal to brain dead and immature garbage).

I'm to the point now where I only really play MMORPGs with long-time friends (and my brother) and in some ways it's bad because I'm not forging new friendships as much.  It's also to the point where we don't have enough regulars to do anything serious.  So for EQN I'll likely join a guild with potential rather than start a tiny friend guild, in an attempt to expand my circle.

You've pretty much summed up my experiences with MMO's as well.

I did play SWG and I have to say that it was by far the most interesting experience I've had with any game, mostly because of the sheer number of friends I'd met through playing.

That said, I dont want to end up logging in just for the sake of it, which was common in my time with SWG. The casual insta-gaming style that's been popularized by WOW holds some significance (not looking for WOW though).

They've had plenty of time to imbue EQN with the best elements from all of my fav games and I hope they do, still though, I wonder if it's even possible to bring back that feeling we're all looking for, even if the game turns out to be super awesome.

ASHERON'S CALL!

wait, no?

A friend of mine just got the GTX 760 and I'm waiting on his benchmarks. I think he's quite happy about the savings given that he was seconds away from grabbing the 7950.

All due to the fact that Quiz posted this up, thank you sir. I've gotta say, you have saved me a few $$ this year already.

Well of course it doesn't have much further overclock potential outside of exotic cooling.  The idea is that AMD picks an FX-8350, figures out how far they can overclock it and be relatively safe, gives it that overclock, and calls it the stock speed when they sell it to you.

What do you mean "relatively safe"? So I pick up a 9590 and I've gotta roll the dice to see if it melts my MB?

The simple man (ME) wants to know if this means Nvidia is just fishing for extra cash or is this a sign of true desperation to come?

OR does it mean nothing, just another business move?

^^ I agree with this statement

That's the guy with the commentary about 1 topic then the video is just a random game?

Legit thread. F2P has been a good reason to cancel any subscription, the exception is if your balls deep in the WOW community and it's part of your lifestyle and if that's the case, MAY THE GODS HELP YOUR SOUL!

Outrageous cash shop prices usually keep me from buying a single thing in F2P's but you can find games (STO) where you can get virtually everything with grinding. Thus, sub based games need to "step their game up"

Bigger by more than double the next? Because western developers haven't given those gamers a reason to leave. If all you are gonna offer is questing, dungeons, and battle grounds, those players might as well stay with WoW. WoW has that stuff in spades, that's WoW's thing.

There's a lot of truth to that statement, as that's how everything else on the planet works, but gamers are willing to apply that to every game except the one they are looking forward to. If a game comes out and charges 15 dollars a month, it needs to have equal to or more than what WOW has compiled over the past decade in order to pull the WOW gamers away from their game.

Charging less per month isn't an option because it will immediately be perceived as inferior and MMO gamers will avoid it, so their only option - if they are going to continue with the level-based gear-dependent class-restricted design - is to offer more than what WOW offers.

This is pretty much a +2

Do something different, or if you're going to do what WOW does, make sure it's VASTLY superior. Even the games that are attempting to do things a little differently are starting to seem similar to each other, sort of but not exactly like Neverwinter and GW2
