I don't think most people have a problem with the OP, i think most people have a problem with that Pie guy who keeps defending him. He keeps on rambling about how the OP is merely giving his opinion (lol) and how we should respond to him with intelligent counterarguments. He then uses the famous "Don't get me wrong, i like GW2, but..." tactic to give people the illusion that he's this neutral white knight who protects the poor innocent OP because he was "just giving his opinion". He views all the people who think the OP is a troll as blind fanboys. To top it off, he's using the "lol i'm not mad, i'm actually enjoying this thread, it's amusing" excuse, to let people know he somehow doesn't care about all of this, when it's so ridicoulously obvious that he does.

Because of the title of the thread I'd guess. It's a trolling title. Also I dont get this "He's entitled to his opinion but no-one else is, if you express a negative opinion you should take meds". It is kinda of a get-out-of-jail card, since if you don't incl. that in your post, you'll be met with meaningless responses like the OP, "Troll", instead of discussion.

Just because OP didn't follow what you guys appearently think is a correct way to put up negatives to discuss, doesn't mean you can't discuss OP's points in a civil manner, instead of just dismissing it with "Troll", or just leave the thread all together.

 

You could discuss why YOU think GW2 is original, why it got tactics involved etc. etc.

LoL has one of the worst communities I've ever experienced and it has 30 million players or something rediculous.

WoW, same terrible community, and yet it's been going strong for years with millions of subscribers.

Why is this? Because for every bad 'fanboy' you find, there are 50 decent people who just want to play and have fun. Taking a community sample from MMORPG.com of all places is probably the worst thing you can do.

Any game with a large enough population is going to have it's share of dicks, but to say there's some kind of mutated breed infesting GW2 is down right ludicrous. Then you go and say you want a logical discussion. Lol. :p

I can't comment about LoL, but WoW has indeed a terrible community and we have seen how much worse the game is getting with every expansion. That's because it is literally impossible to get any kind of reliable feedback from the WoW forums and the developers are completely on their own, which is why they make mistake after mistake and some issues haven't been fixed even after 8 years. The same will happen with gw2. The devs will have to improve a game with pretty much no feedback, it's very unlikely they will succeed.

You only need to see the changes made between BWE's and the correlation between the feedback given on the forums in previous events to see that that is not true.

Will that change in the next 8 years? Who knows. So far though, the feedback and Anet's handling of it seem to be bang on.

Even if Anet messed everything up you would still say it's "bang on". That's because you haven't  really played GW2 but just a demo of it. At release you will see more and more flaws every day, and then you may start giving them real feedback and they can start fixing the game, but then it may be too late (see D3).

(btw by you I mean "the fanboys")

Why do you want to see every single thing in the beta? Do you want everything to be spoiled for you already before the game is out?

I'd rather have some bugs+a sense of mystery in the game, instead of no bugs+already knowing every detail about the game.

Indeed. The details and animations and all are great as usual, but it wasn't really as special as some of their previous cinematics. It felt very standard to me, unlike, for example, the WOTLK cinematic. Even the Cata cinematic, while somewhat cheesy, felt more epic.

But then again, i doubt that they intended to make an "epic" cinematic for MOP, as it probably didn't fit to the theme of the new expansion.

The best thing you can do (and i'm guessing it's what you're already planning on doing) is to just watch some gameplay videos, and read some basic GW2 gameplay guides that explain most of the game mechanics, and just ignore all the comments on those videos/guides. If you like what you read, try it out. If you don't like what you read, don't buy it, you can always change your mind later.

You're obviously not telling the full story here. The moderation on the official forums is fine. As loads of others have said, there was plenty of negative discussion/criticism that wasn't deleted. If your post was deleted then chances are high it was because of the way you wrote it.

So yeah, i consider myself a massive GW2 fanboy. I played GW1 for about 6 years i think. Been waiting for GW2 since they announced they were making it somewhere in 2007 (if i remember right it was 2007), and have been checking for new info almost weekly ever since i saw their first teaser trailer somewhere in 2009.

I pre-purchased the game the first day it became available (i pre-purchased it because i wanted the 3-day headstart+the bonus items, not because i wanted beta access), so i have access to all the beta weekends/stress tests, and yet i never participated in a single one of them. Am i the only fanboy that didn't play it yet? It's not that i have a problem with the people who did play in them, but i just don't want to spoil certain things for me, i want to keep most of it new for launch day. I even tend to avoid most gameplay vids of certain "epic" events (like the endbosses in the starting zones, or that shadow thing in that swamp area) so i don't know these events inside out before i even played the game. I also try to avoid videos of secret/hidden areas that people find in the game, so that i can stumble upon them myself instead of already knowing where they are.

So is there anyone else who's doing the same? Or am i just being a weird nerd for doing this?

Other thing is OP that GW2 WILL be patched anbd patches WILL be big. 

So even if you install it from DVD you will will have to download big patches and via dial-up it will take days or weeks.

 

So I would try to get some broadband interenet, explore all options avabile - becasue on dial-up I cannot see you patching game to be honest.

Indeed, i don't get why everyone keeps saying there won't be physical versions of the game (as in game box+ discs+manual and all that stuff). The thing is though, if you want a physical version like this, you'll have to buy it from a store at launch day (august 28th) or later, and you won't be able to get the pre-purchase bonus.

So basically, if you pre-purchased the game, it'll be digital only (except if certain stores offer a physical pre-purchase aswell).

But if you want a physical edition, including the discs to install the game with, you'll have to buy it in a store once the game is launched.
