First we would like to introduce ourselves; we are a small team that is working on the release of FTO (Howard, Ben and Gabe). We are dedicated to creating a game by gamers for gamers, through an open line of communication at all times. We encourage all players to give us any and all feedback / ideas in order to help us create a cohesive community. You are able to contact us at any time via staff at fantastytalesonline.net and I can assure you that we will respond in a timely manner and that your voice will be heard.
Our end goal is something that is always changing (always for the better) each and every day a new idea comes a long and we add it to the list of things we want incorporated into Fantasy Tales Online. We have a guild system of epic proportions planned. This won’t just be your run of the mill guild grindfest, but something with its own economy, guild quest creation, fort takeovers and many other things. This is something for the near future, but it is one of the things we want most.
We also want to introduce a nice compelling storyline into the game, a storyline to help hook players in and tell a tale of great adventure, misfortune and devilish beasties. This is something we're working on at the current point in time and hopefully we can achieve something captivating and entertaining.
There are many more things ourselves and people in the Fantasy Tales community want added in and we will be trying our best to please ourselves and our few followers.
FTO Skill System:
In the current skill system your skill level will increase as abilities are used. As you continue to level your classes associated skills you will be able to learn new abilities and are notified when there is something new to learn.
There are offensive / supportive skills for each class in order to avoid a tank / healer / dps role. One of these such skills is Chemical Gas, which is obtainable via an Alchemist Class Quest that does damage to any enemies that walk in it over time, as well as healing friendly players that are nearby as well. Our goal is to create exciting skills that you want to use and level up their effectiveness as you play.

We also invite players to try our skills out in the alpha world available for testing at www.fantasytalesonline.com by clicking on the “Play Now” button. If you have any questions we normally always have at least 1 person on.

Yes this is true, at the momment you can save your progress as a guest as well. Down the road we will limit things such as trade and possibly the level you can reach. We are only 3 developers, but we love feedback from players :)

As noted on our current status, we are still in development. At the moment we have 1-5 players on at a time. The game does not claim to build a city in the persistent world, but is something we hope to acomplish in feature updates down the road.
In regards to the B.Y.O.N.D comment, he was just saying that it is similar to that game ( although I have never played personally). Everything that is in our game, aside from "some" of the Slick Engine is all hand made including all the tools.
