A frikking new WoW-clone, monsters waiting around to get killed, that magically don't see you, even if you are almost within reaching distance, because of some magic aggro range, that has no correlation with what we as humans understand as reality.

Add on top of that questing with exclamation marks (or something similar in korean or whatever asian country this is from), and it is goodnight for this game.

Thank you for your attention, and if you are a TERA spammer, then please stop. There is nothing new here.

I too, love TERA.  Just cannot afford it. Other than that, the game is beautiful, enjoyable, immersive and action packed combat goodness.  Love the combat system.  Just wish we could afford the game and the PC upgrades needed to make it run amazingly better.

when I read something like this I can only feel how lucky many of us are and how much we take for granted all the games we get to play and subscribe, too. Hopefully some of us will realize how fortunate we are. Man, I wish I had some spare bucks to front you, I just don't. Good luck and hope things pick up for you.

Is SWTOR perfect? Far from it. Is it my kind of MMO? Not realy (even if I play it a lot but there's not much out there atm). But there's a point I realy don't understand when it comes to criticize SWTOR: in what way the game was unfinished at launch? As far as I'm concerned, it was finished at Beta.

I played almost every single MMO out there and many of them at launch and I can tell it was by far the most finished and polished MMO I've seen. For me, unfinished means buggy, unstable, unplayable but that wasn't the case with SWTOR. Even if there's many features of the game I don't like, it doesn't mean those features were added unfinished.

The engine runs fluidly even on a couple of years old machine, the missions, as boring as some of them can be, are working well and I crashed to desktop only twice since beta. Correct me if I'm wrong (with a solid argument please) but that game was finished at launch.

You can crucify Bioware on the street for putting on the market a boring game but certainly not for releasing a technical failure.

credit is given when its due and in this case it is not. swtor is a mediocore mmo missing many key mmo features and designed to b a CORPG not an MMORPG. the game does not run on old machines it even has issues running on top end gaming desktops. the game is clunky and is not AAA quality. for 200+mill game its one of the biggest fails in gaming. look at rift its a WoW clone just like swtor cept rift actually has the MMO features and they do a good job putting out content updates fast. it took swtor from december to april to finally put content into the game that was supposed to b there at launch.

one thing I'll give Rift, the game played flawlessly on my older rig, unlike SWTOR which chugged along like a Model T, Sad, really.

For alot of people, ganking gets very annoying after awhile. I used to like it too, played SB, and it even became boring for the one doing the gankong after awhile. It s always a big thing when a game with this mechanic releases, then becomes the same few guilds owning a server. This in itself will wreck the OWPvP. If this was my forst MMO with this mechanic, I might argue with what I ust said, but it s not, and I ve seen it in ever game that offers this.

But the beauty of it is, there are servers for those that dont want this kind of game play and those who do. Those seeking the SB/UO era gameplay will definitely love pvp servers those who dont will go to PVE servers. Why would some one that doesnt like or like the thrill of being ganked go to a PVP server?

Comparing Tera to UO or SB is like comparing a piece of rotten fruit you found in the trash to a freshly made Subway sandwitch.

Credibility: Non-existent.

yeah, we get it. Every game made past EQ blows, right? I here EQ is free now, go for it.

SWTOR when it was released I did not like it at all, I felt it was better suited as a single player rpg, the game was too easy, the classes were not fun, skills and combat did not feel fluid, the PVE instances were not fun. I did not like the game at all. I gave the game a 3/10 only points for graphics and voice acting and a point for it actually be a sci fi star wars online rpg.  I was called a troll and blasted non stop, but in the end SWTOR lived up to be a horrible MMORPG.

Now i played teras open beta, and wow, I have been critical of every mmorpg released, age of conan, swtor, lotro, vanguard etc etc, any every time I blast them I was called a WoW fan boy and a troll but in the end these games went to or are going to free to play and ended up not being good.

As a huge WoW fan, "PRE Cataclysm". I started tera, right off the back I was wowed by the graphics incredible, but graphics do not win me over, gameplay does, and boy does it sure live up to it, I have access to diablo 3 beta and I have yet to really touch it, TERA is very addicting, combat while not revolutionary still feels extremely fluid and fun, I made a popori lancer that looked like a puppy and the combat was great fun, I felt like I was in complete control of my character and it made grinding "if any grinding", less boring because combat was actually fun.

The quest were kill X to get Y, but I didnt mind it, I knew what I was getting into another theme park mmorpg which it is no denying it, but the monsters looked great, I couldnt wait to kill something new cause each new monster looked creepy and more bad ass than the next. Quest while some were interesting were like what you see in every mmorpg they have their ups and their downs, but leveling was quick and rewarding through questing.

So i get to level 12, I get my mount and I head to the first PVP area, the lumber thingy I cant remember the name, but there were level 20s - 30s ganking outside the area, which I found thrilling, I never felt this thrill since UO, and with it being non factioned based you formed your own allies to try to push them back.  I loved the ganking part even though I was being ganked because of the thrill, running outside, collecting my quest items and looking around my shoulder to hurry up and getting back on my mount.

With this mmorpg not having factions is a huge plus, factions should not be in mmorpgs, they only break the community, and causes a huge imbalance (SWTOR) for example. This is a huge huge plus that I can form alliances or enemies with any one.

So far I played the game 1-12 as a lancer, so far its been AMAZING  one of the best next gen mmorpgs to come out and one of the best mmorpgs to come out since WOW. I have already made a pre order. Long live TERA

glad to hear it. Remind me not to roll on a PvP server. Just kidding, sounds like fun!

I think a big problem with Tera, is the structure of the game itself. It s not sure if it wants to be pvp orientated or pve. On most accounts, people think of it as a pve mmo. Now alot of people are the OWPvP is amazing. No rewards but it s fun. That will boom at first, then become owned by a few guilds. Most people know this happens on most, if not all factionless MMOs. That said, I swear I read they re releaseing BGs as well. That will, in itself destroy some of the OWPvP. I know alot of people will say. no way, but it always does. I don t know, I think Tera just has a shit ton of hurdles to climb, and it s not going to make it, in the long run.

I think a lot of this is how you approach a game. Like many here, I've played almost every MMORPG since UO, have I liked them all, of course not. But I'm willing to give alll games a fair shot before proclaiming doom, and I mena fair, not aan hour or two, not getting to level 10, but playing for a decent amount of time. By that, I mean at least a month or so, shoot, you get that much time if you purchase it. Some have said this game really shines past level 20, I have yet to get past level 12, so maybe it does, maybe it doesn't, but I'm going to at least play that long to make my decision. Seemingly, I'll play Guild Wars 2, why not? Never tried it, saw a few videos, read a ton of pro's and con's on this site, but ultimately I make my own decisions for after all, it is my perception that matters, not what a poster writes, good or bad.

Yep and thats fair enough. My wife and I, and a few guildies from other games did make it past 20. We wanted to see what the fuss was about. We all, said nope, not a game our guild will even play. I think 1 of about 10 of us thought they ll try it at release. I agree give it a shot, I myself would rather, take that $60 X 2 and take the wife out for dinner, and a movie. I can undestand people liking the game, we re all different, but to me it s really nothing special, before or after level 20.

I do agree on taking the wife out, now if we could put that into a game, huh?

I'm still trying to figure out what the beef is with this game. Mechanically, it works great, even on my older rig. Esthetically it's beautiful. Granted it's an open beta, the population is there, chat is a little immature but I assume that will end when the kiddies aren't allowed to subscribe since they're being punished for not doing thier home work. As for the game play, it's the first MMORPG I did not have to point and click. There is a wide variety of classes to choose from, some easy, some more difficult. So maybe our collective jaded opinions based on so many fialures will never let us have fun anymore? When is enough, enough? Cripes, D3 and Guild Wars are being bashed and they're not even released yet. FOr some here, there will never be a great game anymore unless you pick up EQ, come on already.

I've tried 4 classes so far, Priest, Mystic, Zerker and Archer. I've gotten all of them off the main island as I don't want to get to far until early release. So far, the mystic is my favorite. As someone said, you get that little companion which does help take agro off you dring combat. I will try a warrior although it seems like the hardest class to play early on.

OP, do you find it hard to speak or type without using an expletive?  May want to think about that.  If it's in their rules, I have no issues with it and wish other games would do the same.  I actually like to hear the subject of a sentence not the vulgar expletives that tend to drown out the point of a conversation.

No, I'm just not liking the idea of being limited to what I say, I'm paying for the game, I should be allowed to say what I want.

This isn't maple story, it shouldn't have word filters. IMO anyways.

No you don't have the right to say what you want just because you're paying for the game, you agreed to a terms when creating the account. You don't have the right to swear at who and what you want in a game populated with other players just because you sub to it. When you leave your parents house and work and pay taxes,it doesn't give you the right to go to the middle of town swearing loudly, you'll get arrested.

What you say within a circle of friends is your business, but don't think you can go round in public chats acting as you like because you pay for access to service. This shows how immature you are as you really can't see the error of your ways, or the wood through the trees. You're acting like a typical young boy trying to prove to others what a big man you are and it makes you look a fool. Drop the big man act as it's doing you no favours kid.

Actually he makes a fair point about rights and expectations; he may be wrong. But, you on the other hand come across as dictatorial and offensive.  You had absolutely no reason to insult him. IMO you should apologise.

How did this thread turn into a discussion about words being limited on an MMO to old men insulting younger boys, and twisting their words.

Casual swearing should be allowed.

I fucking agree!

Big deal. All games had goldsellers in general chat. I'm playing on a PvP-server, so bring those bots. What's the the point of this thread?

It is still not a good sign, lets hope En masse fixes this soon or it will hurt the game.

Personally it is the people who buy gold that annoys me, they are the ones encouraging bots and account hijackers and destroy the fun for everyone else.

Bots need beta testing as well.

haha! Cool!

I hate to say it but I have to agree as wel. I have yet to see any advertisements in chat. I've blocked some "children" in chat but that's about it.

the kiddies are in full force there.

I made a Sith inquistor on a different server just to see if what the OP was saying was true, that mobs lose 75% of their hp's in one lightsabre swing. Ok, since it was a new server to me, I of course could not send any items from an older character to her, so she was really out-of-the-box.

My normal vibroblade swings did not take off 75% health on any of the mobs I fought. Some of my powers could one-shot the weaker mobs, but the normal mobs or strong mobs definitely required more. So unless the Sith inquisitor is really underpowered at low levels compared to a Jedi counsellor, which I doubt highly, or the original poster boosted the heck out of his low levels with better items than what is available to someone starting out, then I call foul.

The early game is calibrated to people who are brand-new and to people with characters with no equipment, so the difficulty actually seemed just right.

The sith inquisitor was my first character in swtor and I played it at launch , I found the difficulty to be somewhat challenging and even died a few times, ,  My sith inquis/sorc is now up to lvl 25 and with the companion it is super easy. Now many of the posters have said that after lvl 30 it gets harder and that is fine, but why did swtor change it recently and make it super easy in lvl 1-30?

I stopped a week ago or so. I played since day one and do not think it was any easier or harder since launch. I have a level 50 SIth Sorc and I glided my way to 50, as for my Sentinel, much more difficult.

Games change with the gamers playing them, the current new gamers come from cheats as standard and instant gratification, anything outside of this is grind and 'not fun'.

BS about "new" gamers coming from cheats any more than old gamers... I have just 11 words for you.

"up" "up" "down" "down" "left" "right" "left" "right" "B" "A" "Start"

Contra... damn I loved that game!

We've set up a community guild, laid back in nature, for the Open Beta, Headstart, and Launch of TERA.  Come join us on Dragonfall! Just use the guild finder tool to find "MMORPG", and apply!  We'll let everyone in, so don't be shy!

We won't be super organized at first, but should we find a few good leaders, once things get going, we'll turn the guild over to them, and even make a sub-forum on the TERA forums here at the site for us all to use.  So what are you waiting for?

SERVER: Dragonfall

HOW TO JOIN: Just hit apply from the Guild Finder!

Come hang out!  Bring your friends! Kill stuff in Arborea!

very cool!

There, I said it. It's obvious. My beta character was 425% ass.

lol! Too funny, I do get that.

Tower of Myraglen, Apple IIgs

I played the hell out of SWTOR, I have a level 50 and many alts. That being said, SWTOR was a great ride but one I will not be subbing too any longer. I've only played TERA for 12 levels, so I don't feel it's fair to say which is better at this point. The mechanis of TERA are a bit difficult for me whereas SWTOR was click and play. However, I am intrigued enough with TERA to continue and have preordered it. This will be my go to game until GW2 comes out.

Buy and Try Guild Wars 2 if you want something different.  See if you like it, if not buy/try Tera.

If you however like tradional questing buy Tera first and Guild wars 2 after.

why not playing both?
