It seems like all professional reviews do is get a good "first impression" of an MMORPG and roll with it.  There seems to be hardly any correlation between an MMORPGs metascore and its ultimate success.

no, there really isn't. Best way to judge a game is stay off of here, play the damn thing and make your own opinion. Does it really matter what anyone else thinks? Why do we all let others dictate how we should feel about a game, F em. You're the best judge of and critic of anything you do.

haha! That made me lol! I remember the first day of SWG, there was  a huge battle going on in Tatooine, with Imperial At-At's all over the place. That was world PvP. Pardon any spelling errors. Am I missing something in SWTOR?

Yeah I hated it....it got boring fast...but the players made EQ...unfortunately as the quality of MMO players declined to its present day a$$hat, WoW kiddie, L33t level, a game such as EQ that mandates player cooperation cannot survive at the head of the pack.

Still....it was a game for REAL players....HARDCORE players and with no hand holding ....and required SKILL across the board including Social Skills for without a group your Dungeom or Raid would be FAIL.

Remember the Auction House? It was great in its simplicity and its player generated economy.

How I miss the game I hated so much.....which compared to the way MMO's are these days such as Age of Conan with its banging rocks in Bori grindfest and WoW with its grind for token fest, and their PvP and PvE armor flavors of the month...I say BAH!

Someone at Sony Verant release a hardcore game with great gameplay and graphics, that somehow screens the a$$hats and WoW kiddies out from playing.

Nowo that would be a game...RANT OVER....

RANT induced by Age of Conan....another ruined MMO by mindless game directors and a$$hat players as well as flawed game design.

what auction house? I had to sneak through sewers to avoid being KOS by guards in Freeport. Life sucked as a Dark Elf.

Saying that it's not multiplayer is also totally false. This game encourages grouping in sooo many ways that no themepark has in a long time.


There is a crapload of group content here for a launch mmo. I'm always in a group with guildmates when I quest. Heroics, flashpoints, warzones, world bosses on every planet, Illum and operations all REQUIRE groups.

I've actually not tried RIFT but might consider it.  Since I'm pretty sick of TOR's design, I likely won't take much better to RIFTS but aside from the lack of VO/Cutscenes, the production quality of RIFT does seem more appealing to me.

I loved Rift when I started it, but everything was so dark, I felt  like I needed a lantern, anything,  Could someone throw a brother a flashlight?

i wont be playing wow though, way too easy for the lil kids now, also i dont agree with the direction the game is heading in both story and mechanics.
ill probably wait for GW2 or Tera as they both seem equally appealing to me. 
 
 

SWTOR is not really a WOW clone.  It has similarities... but it also has a tone of ways in which it blows WOW out of the water.  It's closer to Mass Effect than WOW though.

I agree with that. WoW is a great game, no argument, but I like the variety I get with SWTOR, the Flash Points, Heroics etc. I have grouped more in a few weeks with SWTOR than I ever had in WoW. Don;t get me wrong, I played Wow since Beta, arguably the best game made to date, but times change as we all do. Nothing wrong with variety, it's the spice of life.
