This is the best mount ever...

The title is a lie.

SC IS account based.

Items you buy are not.  Especially since those items are different for EVERY FACTION.

Had you read the website, it states it clearly.

and since you can only have 1 toon on a server, it makes total sense.

This.

When I buy a mount in EverQuest, it's only available to the character I bought it with but If I change games my Station Cash is still there.

I heard it takes like a million clicks just to perform certain functions. Any truth to this ?

Hmm well it's a turn based strategy game so you do click a lot but it never felt tedious for me.

Enjoyed every minutes of it and worth every dollar. I'll buy DLCs in a heartbeat.

I also raged a lot with the camera for fights inside big ships.

Considering it costs 100.00 to take a family of 4 to a major new 3d/ Imax movie if you simply get you , yourself , wife and kids drinks and popcorn , 29.99 for something I truly enjoyed that much sounds like a good deal.

Wow, where the heck do you live?  I took myself and my 3 kids to a 3d movie last week and I got out of there at around 50$ With drinks and popcorn for all.  I felt ripped off at that, let alone 100.  And I agree, if it had everything I wanted in the game 29.99 would be well worth it.

The theatre we go (Cineplex Odeon near Montreal) cost 14.75$ per adult for a 3D movie. 11.25 for children. So with 2 kids it's 52$ before getting drinks and popcorn. Add around 10$ per person for drinks + popcorn (If i remember right last time a Combo 2 was 18.75 for 1 Large popcorn and 2 regular drinks) so yeah it can go easily to 100$. Actually, the only reason we don't go to theatre anymore.

Yes. Already did it in the past with EverQuest Legends/Stormhammer server which was 40$ a month.

I'm hearing more and more about how people can't play their characters the way they want, but end up having to take particular and specific builds to suit the role they want to play.  If everyone has to follow a specific build, than what is really the difference that makes the TSW system better?

That's the biggest complaint I have so far with TSW. I thought I was free to build a character the way I wanted with the skills I wanted but you get to certain points in the game where you really need a certain type of skills to progress. Healing to be more specific, there was some fights I wouldn't been able to overcome without some healings skills. I had to stop my progression and redo quests to get more APs and build a side build for these types of fights. Some kind of respec tools would be nice.

Other then that, the game is  really fun if you're into this kind of game.

Actually, there are different ways to approach impasses like this.  Getting newer skills is one, or even changing your gear.  As a tank, I find that when I am solo-questing as DPS, I often want to add some tank gear for increased survivability.  I don't even use heals. People usually run into trouble because they fail to adjust their approach as the game was designed for them to do.

Well you have a point. The thing is when we started, we started as a group of friends with a specific role each and we got to certain solo instances were some of us couldn't progress because of their build were too group oriented.

Me hanging out with the dead as usual. In front of the Black House in Anima form.

On my first Beta run, when I first entered Kingsmouth, I got the cutscene with the cowboy-looking guy that give the kill 6 zombie quest and then for some reason I completely did not notice he was giving a second quest (The one to kill 6 zombie, then jump on car + fire). So I decided to go south instead of directly into the town and after 2 hours of playing doing quests I just stumbled upon, I was asking myself: Where the hell is that kill 6 zombie quest the guy on mmorpg.com was speaking about.

Found it when I ported back to Hollow Earth and retentered Kingsmouth. I felt a bit dumb to have missing it but then again, it shows you don't need to follow the on-rail track of quests and can still have fun. Now that I have finished mosts quests in the Beta, there's isn't a lot of Kill X quests. They are there, but it's not the main type of quests, it's a good mix of different types.

I think those involving avoiding laser security, cameras or traps are really fun.

Both games are very fun. I think there's room for both old school and new RPGs.

Found a very good guild. The name is Disturbed Asylum. It is top notch! Characters name is Sphinn! Look me up :-D

I'll keep this guild name in mind. Still unguilded but I got approched by Surrender Thy Booty. Kinda like the name but no decision made yet.

How many members do have? Active grouping?

Shame that eqplayers page is not working anymore, it was a nice tool to check guilds members count/activity.

Went for Enchanter as expected, Oniria, currently level 52 with a whooping 3 AAs.

can you convert that into a currency we use in real life? I cant understand the magnitude.

1 SC = 1 usa dollar,   read SC as dollars

With these mats a character class cost 750$ USD to unlock :)

I am actually wondering now, why would anyone want to play a watered down EQ instead of EQ2? (except for nostalgia and traveling the once wellknown lands once more to say goodbye)

Played both. I keep revisiting Everquest 1 every now and then for 2-3 months in between new mmos release. Actually tried doing the same thing with EQ2 and would log off in a matter of minutes everytime even if EQ2 was F2P . Mostly the combat and mechanics and the art style is just not for me.

Can't say if it's nostalgia but I don't think it is, I think it's more like EQ1 being my conformtable shoes/clothes. I like how the game plays, as weird as it may sound for such an old game.

Actually really excited for this friday.

Well, now i think about it, EQ2 takes you by the hand and leads you around... how is old EQ doing, is it still the place of freedom and travel?

Well it's not like at the start where it was a dangerous trip to go from Qeynos to Freeport on foot and cross Kithicor Forest at night. With Plane of Knowledge you can go pretty much quickly where you want with portal. So the sense of fear in your travel is not as present as before.

However, I think I found last night why I keep coming back. It's the sensation of challenge just hunting regular exp mobs. In most new MMOs, you target the mob, hit the auto-attack and you could stay there and watch your character still kill regular mobs. Without even using any abilities. I know I remember watching my 4yo son back in time when he first tried playing sitting on my knees. He could grind mobs in Vanilla WoW with using any ability from 1 to 60.

Exp mobs in EverQuest can quad hit you and kill you in one round. Sure, we are talking about later levels 60ish+ but still. You have to be aware of what you do most of the time. At some point, be it in group or solo, you reach a certain comfort level of hunting at a certain spot and then BAM shit hit the fan.

I am Enchanter in EQ and even if I prefer grouping, soloing is a rewarding challenging experience. Charming a mob, giving it weapons, buffing and speeding his attack speed to turn him into a beast and then sending him to attack another one. Then you hope Charm does not break because you got 2 angry mobs turning and rushing for you. Usually you don't have the options to let them reach you or you're dead in one round.

I think this is the real reason why I love EverQuest still so much. For me, It's the most rewarding PVE MMO game I have found and played so far. I'm not talking about raids, but more about the overall game challenge. Tons of MMOs have easy leveling and hard raids. Darkfall came close to it as an unforgiving game but I'm not much into PVP.

From their Q&A

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq/posts/list.m?topic_id=183997

Q: What is the cost to buy a playable class not included in the Free or Silver account?

A: We have yet to release these details. It's a one time unlock purchase.

A really odd combination of parts that you can't quite figure out what the guy who built it was thinking.

That made me laugh. Either a platypus or Homer's car.

Does anyone know how much the non free classes will cost inb the shop, i have some points left from my free EQ2 experience?

Looking for that info to but I don't think they told the price yet.

You can solo with mercs to an extent but some classes will never be as efficient as being in a group.
