General: Why I'm Freaking Out Over SOPA/PIPA
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/22/12 4:46:18 PM
If there is any "derping" going on, then perhaps you should scroll up to this quoted post from someone else. My entire point is that "hate" for another race or culture shouldnt have to be here as a result of the horribly writing of a select few people. And Given that its been shot down for now and awareness has been increased. if you had nothing to do with the green part then id suggest taking it up with the above poster for improper quoting. General: Why I'm Freaking Out Over SOPA/PIPA
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/21/12 9:23:17 PM
What seems ridiculous is how some are generaizing other groups in general. If "other english countries" blocked the "USA" from wikipedia that would be no better then previous mentioned bills or laws that so far have been shot down. Many websites Observed the "black out day" in some form or another whether it was an article, censorship, disabling of support /abilities etc. So if you werent able to access wikipedia for that period id suggest taking it up with the website themselves. I think also that the "hate" generated toward normal everyday people in any country based on their leader's decisions is a little overboard and ridiculous as well. ( personally it doesnt matter to me where someone is from, but how they act toward me and my friends /or guild /or family ) Given that many websites of different sorts, from information sites, to gaming sites, to hosting sites etc stood together and went against the bills that were proposed. The generation of awareness thanks to these websites can "awaken" people to the issues being slipped passed without knowledge. Im personally glad that the bills were shelved / sent back to the drawing board / shot down because they were horribly written and failed to follow due process and would only create more problems then already exist. |

Where did all the money go?

Originally posted by EricDanie This. Especially seeing what IP its coming from, ( Lucas arts ) can be fairly money grabbing. and considering actors and sports stars demand more and more for that they do im not surprised at the cost and lack of solid specifics in game.
In my opinion when games dont stand apart from others in their content , classes, skills, music, etc then it can become rather old fairly quickly. I do agree partially with what one person said recently that themepark mmos could possibly be phased out over time unless some orginality and content can keep up with the demands of the gaming world. |

Originally posted by punkrock Many people dont have to justify their opinions to post how they feel in simple terms. Just because someone isnt "OMG this is great" doesnt make them a hater or on an "bandwagon". I have a half a dozen reasons for not playing TOR, or Rift or whatever game that i chose not to play. Some of my friends play it and they like it, but as for me it doesnt have anything i look for in a mmo. Besides this area is for looking for game discussion ( and i do believe the opener got the answers they were seeking ) and they were looking at specific titles. so TOR section is that way kiddo ----------------> Besides i think there are already several posted reviews by players stating what needs to be fixed in tor.
@op Im looking forward to diablo three myself ( as loke666 pointed out thats coming fairly soon ), I have several friends that are eagerly awaiting guild wars two, so hopefully that will have some bang for its buck. |

Welcome to the world of captialism where money effects numbers. or in this case (grading scores). Im going to have to agree with a number of the people who are saying that they dont get how the "numbers work" as far as gaming site reviews go. Its not a matter of understanding the system that is used but understanding why or how certain games are getting those reviews. Ive found objective player reviews for games much more accurate then gaming sites in recent years. ( as companies dump money into said gaming sites for advertising ) take this one for example : http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/337702/Elikals-SWTOR-review.html I found it to be a very informative and decent read. It pretty much gives pros and cons in a nut shell with room for people to agree /slightly disagree in some scoring areas. |

Originally posted by smh_alot I know several people that went for the annual pass, my acct also has that pass. im definitely enjoying the mount as well as looking forward to diablo three when it gets released. So far i havent regretted the pass, and i enjoy time within the guilds im in so i think its was worth it for me and those of my friends who also got it. |

Originally posted by Jimmydean I havent really had this problem on the realms i have toons on, in fact we had a full 25 man group of runs in a guild i have toons in on Borean Tundra. Ive seen guilds recruiting constantly which is nothing new at least on any server ive played so far. Ive also logged into my horde toons on whisperwind while the guild im in there was running raids(not high enough to join in on those toons). Perhaps you can create dummy toons on a few different servers and scout out what one may be best for you and your fellow guildies? Thats what i did when i left my orginal realms a very long time ago to start fresh. im fairly happy with the realms i currently play on. |

Originally posted by TUX426 If people really want others to "get over it" then perhaps the topics and arguements between opinions should be tabled? There were many different factors that "made it fail" to different people. Some blame LA, some blame SOE, some blame those who smeared the game for years after it became something different to them, some blame new games. If you have issues with the fact that people still love swg ( NGE or Pre CU wise) and that the topic still exists perhaps you should "move on" as youd say if it bothers you?

Is this game worth coming back to seriously?
General Discussion « World of Warcraft 1/11/12 2:08:02 AM
It really depends on why you left orginally and point of view. The guilds i had toons in when i had to break from the game still went on and kept my toons with them. I was pleasently surprised at still having friends to come back to. If you do end up playing again feel free t drop me a PM and if your on the same realms as i am i could help you get back into the swing of things if you need any help.
If you have friends still playing you could always seek them out and that does help too.
edit : Pvp wise i couldnt say but i do see a number of people in battlegrounds lately within the guilds im in, ive run across a few areas where ive come across a few pvpers in open areas. Recently i ran across an orc and troll in duskwood on one of my toons and they were pvp flagged. im not much of a pvper but was an interesting encounter for my lower level toon lol |

Appearently a number of people didnt get any memo saying population is "down" . But then again there are many that dont visit forum websites or use specific mods. ( or even xfire) I recently logged into my toons on several realms after being gone from it for an extended time. the guilds my toons are in have flourished, and having a quick peek across a few cities as well as on the finder for guilds i see quite alot of activity on the realms i have toons on. Only the companies with access to server numbers can really give an accurate count on most any game. Id probably say that the Opener's statement is not accurate.

Originally posted by sieno Well id say it really depends on "when" you tried it. If you tried it right after the change then id say it wasnt the best time for it. In the last two to three years SWG (nge version) had many fun and interesting updates. Having tried Pre CU i do see why people liked the profession trees of the past, but "in comparison" of the versions, both had a number of problems and bugs ( some of the bugs i have seen in pre cu version were fixed during the last years of the NGE ). When i first joined SWG one thing i could never understand was how people could hold grudges after so many years. if they really had left it behind then these posts would not be here /coming up now, even after its death. Perhaps im different then a "majority" of players in my thoughts to the subject of "PRE CU VS NGE" perhaps not. At this point such a topic is nothing but an echo of a old arguement. If anything these still ongoing arguements prove that many players in many mmos are unforgiving of mistakes, regardless of whos made the mistake and why or what reason it was made. Over the past few years i made a number of friends, vets, newer players, and even returning players who hadnt played since the changes. Some of those people gave it a chance, it may not have been what they were used to, but they found something in the "new" game that they liked as well and stayed with it. I can respect other people's choices not to play, or their opinions about what they loved about either version, but when it comes down to trolling and grudge matching (smear campaigning) then i have a harder time having basic respect for those who cant return it. If anything the continued smearing over the years hurt swg in ways some didnt realize. *shrug* |

Originally posted by Gravez hmmm... think ive said this before but thats a very overused and very unuseful statement. some never "got over" the NGE, some will not "get over" the death of their favorite games. And Some will not "get over" taking a chance to post meaningless dribble. Perhaps some would "get over it" faster ifthey didnt have people constantly bringing up /continuing arguments that have gone on for months / years. SWG may be gone, but elements of it remain. To some that could mean friendships or guilds, to others it means other things.
"move along, these are not the droids your looking for"

This isnt the likely or best place for a letter intended to a few different companies. Personally i dont see either company sharing "database information" with anyone. But as i said i doubt youd get a public confirmation either way on a site thats not part of either company. In one point of view if they were to 'share database" information with you, it would make one wonder what other "information" is being shared, which could be counter productive for companies in not only the short run but the long run. |

Originally posted by Shadanwolf Ive seen some enwer players, just not in "large numbers" aka not multiples warndering around at starter area. with lvling abit easier in the lower areas now, newer players can "grow up" fairly quickly. also ppl who roll toons on multiple servers can make death knights if they have a lvl 55 toon or higher on their acct which would start them off in the 55-60 range for that class.
What server are you currently playing on? |

The problems ive noticed on a majority of services ive tried in WoW is that many can be very unfriendly to newbies asking questions. Also some guilds do instant invites without even talking to the people that they are inviting, which places some enw players into an unfamiliar enviornment with a large group of unknown people. Also given the type of behavior within trade chat ( which is similar to most larger games similar chat types) when a newer player asks questions they can be jipped, told the wrong info, or be scammed into doing things they may not wish to do. Im not saying all guilds or any specific people on any realms are responsible, I do know a few guilds that try and help newer players out. But there are a number of factors as to why any game can be "unfriendly" to newer players. |
