Ever wonder why the WoW community has a bad rep?

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=chars&message.id=40260&jump=true#M40260

Please note, this is posted here and on the EQ2 Forum because I thought it was funny not to burn either game.

Another glowing promotion for WoW from an angry undermedicated EQ2 player.

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=chars&message.id=40260&jump=true#M40260

Just find this seriously funny not meant as a burn on either game but you gotta admit it kind of supports that whole community agrument thing.

read the live updates on the offical forums:

http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board?board.id=stat

They are stickied on the top part of the page.  The endless daily updates are usually hot fixes and do not make major changes to the way the game is played.

1st Shards were a non issue.  Either get it or deal with the MINOR stat reduction

2nd Debt is said to be non-camp-able making it a bigger issue than ever

3rd The whole debt penalty thing was 100% correct at launch then nerfed into a non-issue

4th  This is such a small thing, all you drama queens really need to find something better to do, why not complain about the new uber animal DoT??

5th I can not spell for crap

6th WoW players go home

Rankings are a joke, GW (a good game) spent quite some time on top and it is not even a MMORPG.  Kind of odd for a site called MMORPG.com right??

No soloers past 20?

What server do you play on because mine is crawling with them all the way up to 60?

lv 54 SK here

Did Harclave about 4 times and soloed a great deal of the way to lv 50 (pre lv 60 cap) so I would say that the new Harclae restriction is really not a big deal.

I have taken it really easy on my way to 60 because I do not want to hit the cap and gradually lose interest in the game as I did at lv 50.  However I am in a larger guild now so raiding is an option now but it was not a lv 50.

What ever you do please do not grind EXP.  Just do quests and grind in the down time you will get a lot more out of the game.

Do not lot let yourself be deceived all big business really cares about is the bottom line.  Regardless of how well it is candy coated they all want your money.  SoE at least makes no effort to disguise this fact.

Do not take it personally, if you do you will have one hell of a time in the world… or end up being a hermit on some mountain in Tibet.

You can mod them now (when creating) but the changes are not as wide ranging as the originals

DoF would be a waste if you are sub 40

if you can get a 3-4 person group head to the WC.  There seems to be an exp bonus and with a good team you can hit 20 FAST.

What server are you on?

You claim that eq2 having more then 300k subscribers is a fact. Well then, go ahed and proove it why dont you? Where is this concrete evidence youre talking about because ive seen none of it.

That is a hell of a patch, seriously!

Actually no, the SOGA skins have been around for a long long time (non US/Euro market skins).  They are new looks for a select few classes, I think Iskar, Troll and Ratonga will remain unchanged.

Their look is sure to revive the whole EQ2 wants to be WoW since they are basically less 'real' than the current skins in game.  I personally like all of them aside from the ogre but I do not think that they are on the same level as the old skins.

The lack of armor and weapon skins is due to a completely different issue.  Basically the game was designed to have a 'real' look and then it turned out that the bulk of the player base did not want to be reminded how drab reality can get.  They had sets of ‘fantasy’ skins at launch that they decided not to add and now that the player base is demanding them it turns out that a large chunk of them are useless (too resource hungry).  Or to quote Blackguard "sometimes it is easier to create new models rather then attempt to clean up the existing ones".  In short they had to remap their skins this applies to both armor and to monsters.  In turn it explains the lack of verity of monsters, armor and weapons.

Rest assured there is a massive graphic rework on the way just might be a few months before they go live.

Quick question (not a flame) Evilplayer, when was the last time you played?

Reason being that a good chunck of the things you listed have changed a lot in the last year and a few other things that annoyed you seem (at least to me) to actually be throw backs from EQ1.

On the topic of boats I fully agree with you but sadly there are two reasons why they are not in the game:

1). People would cry about having to wait, they want to play and play now any delay and they will ball their fists up and stomp off.  Prolly why the world is soo small too, you should hear ppl complain about travel time.

2). They were planned but the colision system is giving the Devs issues.  However they do seem to be on the way.

Hi all i played EQ2 at release and left for a couple of reasons.

1. how is the xp debt? and group xp debt? i think the main reason i was put off was because of GROUP xp debt it was really annoying when someone died and you got XP debt. I didn't mind too much when i died and got xp debt for myself i expect some penalty.

2. Solo content, how is this now? is there anyone here who mainly solos and could say if it is any good?

3. how is the game overall is there anyone here who has returned after leaving and could comment? many thanks.

1). debt is only if you die not a group member.  Also it is so easally overcome that it has become a non issue.  at lv 52 I have died hundreds of times recently and asside from the cost of repairs it is no real biggie.  The % od debt at lower levels seems large but you also gain exp faster so once again no biggie.

2). there is not a lot of hard core solo mission style play.  However there is plenty of solo mobs if you care to grind.  However if you are off to grind get one of those "go there kill XX of these" quests because the EXP bouns from questing is fantastic.

3). It is what you make it.  I like it, others do not and then there are some that are way too in-love/in-hate with it.

Do not really take anyones opinion on it, just drop the 1 month fee and see for your self.

From the standpoint from someone that plays the game:

There are more active players

How is this?

Simple

Those that threw a temper tantrum after the combat revamp are slowly coming back, DoF brought back some players, other games have gotten stale causing player migration and the biggie… EQ2’s play mechanics have become a lot more like EQ1’s.  No not the same thing just similar enough to make die hard EQ1 players give EQ2 a second look and guess what?  They seem to like it and word is spreading.

PS: Just because the game is not what you like does not make it a failure, people said that there were expansions in EQ1 that killed or ruined it, yet here it is still today.  Ruined for you but a failure I think not.

While there are several really valid points made in this post I think that there is something being missed (if you thumb back into my posts you will see this is my soap box).  EQ2 seems very much like an experiment so much so that many of us playing the game refer to ourselves as C testers (post Alpha and Beta tests… just can not figure out the spelling).  All of us that play the game can see that EQ2 has evolved faster and more dynamically than any other game out there.  When you look at the history of the game you will see that it is a market response system and was seemingly designed as such.  I personally believe that EQ2 was designed for a future market, designed for growth and adaptation, designed to be that next generation system that we all want to see so badly.  However the player base and well, people in general are not tolerant to change.  Does this mean that EQ2 will have a great resurgence?  Who knows but once you develop a great platform you can put a whole new wrapping on it and launce one hell of a bad ass next-gen game.

On the fan-boy side of things:

Personally I have liked everything that EQ2 as a game has done/become what I do not like is the mentality of the player base as it pertains to social interaction, never group or never group outside of the guild.  This is not exaggeration I was in a guild that had 200+ active members and not once did I get a decent group (not balancing just poor players) and was very unhappy with my time in-game.  I left and joined a guild that had 50 or so active players and groups often and I enjoy my time both solo and in a group much more.  Now I know what you are thinking “FORCED GROUPING” or “HELL 30 MIN TO FIND A BALLANCED GROUP TO GET DECENT EXP/LOOT” and I must say nope not at all.  There seems to be a trend toward 3-6 person teams, I actually prefer to use less than the full 6 because it becomes too easy.  With a group of three/four proper level players you can manage your wan into some of the nastier zones granted you will still need a tank and a healer but there are so many flavors of them that it is really not that big of a deal.
