Both extremes are making their presence felt and there is no denying it even from a semi-neutral standpoint. It's been clear to me for awhile which is the reason I've barely spent anytime in these forums recently despite the game being the most relevant focal point in the genre at the moment.

In order to create a thread that's states 10k subs, you would have to have some sort of credibility to make it last 50 pages, like I have offered with my statement..  I have offered very detailed reasons and answers to how 10 million subs is possible by the end of the year.    Some people just cant stand facts that are presented in a positive light in a best case scenario in such a full detailed explaination like I have given throughout this entire thread.   I have yet to more then just a few posts in this thread, where people actually took the time to do the math on this.   People want to believe what the want to sometimes based on their own views, without taking time to look at the numbers we are facing here.

given the 5 million registered beta users. and the entire market of ESO, I don't see how you could consider my 10  million statement as unreasonable.   Just look at the size of that market.

ENTIRE MARKET OF ESO:

2-3 million MMO playerse looking for a new game.

2.8 million PC ES fans who bought Skyrim.

17.2 million console ES fans who bought Skyrim.

The fact that 4.8 million Oblivion copies sold.

The fact that 4 million Morrowind copies sold.

X million of console MMO players (unknown since no MMORPG has came to them since Xbox and PS2)

X millions migrating to ESO from other gaems.

Good thing this is just your opinion... so we can ignore it.

People who sub obviously like the game, so why so they keep moaning about it?

Because that is what people do? people feel they are entitled by paying 15 bucks a month.

Why do you keep thinking I want it shut down? I think you can see it shutting down, but deny it and pass the thought on to me

Nice try but anyone who has read your psot on these forums know that you are not happy that SWTOR is doing well.

I am not biased at all. Even Blind Freddy can see that SWTOR is doomed UNLESS BIOWARE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT

No you are not biased at all.

Saying that SWTOR is fine and dandy WILL DO NOTHING AT ALL and kill the game for sure

I see now you are pretending as someone who actually cares for the game? is that what you are trying to tell us now?

I am going to snip rest of the post because i don't want to get into SWG debate here. But what you do is not what one would call an "effort to improve the game'. All you do is spread doom and gloom constantly and have given ZERO constructive feedback.

I never ever thought 'hey this guy really have some nice ideas to improve the game' or 'he really cares about SWTOR and want to see it improve' even once after reading your posts since SWTOR release.

Honestly, i just didn't roll out of the back of the truck so you are not fooling me here with 'i just want to see SWTOR become a better game' act.

I've given plenty of feedback, but then just get dumb responses "game is good as it is" or "it is not a sandbox" when other theme park games still get suggested features.

I also suggested at one time to at least be able to repeat some of the content.

It may not seem like I am being constructive because there are so many posts defending the game, and attacking me. On the SWTOR forums even looking at the negative posts, I could not see anybody defending the game as much as here

If they can make the game better than why not? But the bottom line is they are not. The NGE was crap, but that did not stand still, they added in tonnes of content after the NGE. If they did not I would not have played that either. If EA/BW was in charge with SWG, it would not have had Beast Master, no camps, no atmospheric flight, no chronicles, no heroics, no seasonal events, no GCW/GCW2, no Death Troopers theme park, no Meatlump theme park, but it would have gotten loads and loads and loads more TCG

Anyway I think you are just trolling me now to post more negativity on your behalf - you seem to be lovin' it

What actually is trolling according to you? i will tell you what it means.

To purposely try to piss people off by making deceiving and overly negative posts repeatedly with only one purpose to get emotional reactions out of them.

Does any of my post follow that pattern? because i certainly do not post with his intention on SWTOR forums.

Usually people start throwing around these words when they have nothing better left to say on topic.

Find me one poster here who actually believes that you think for the better of the game and want to see it do well....i will happily take the accusation of 'trolling'.

I am really hoping for something like TSW's model, B2P with option for subbing, by far the best model if you ask me.

TSW too has a cash shop and subbing doesn't actually make any difference in terms of real content. The only difference is that you get 500 FC coins to spend in cash shop.

I don't know how it is 'better' than say GW2.

You are paying 15 bucks a month for nothing but to get one exclusive item every month and coins to spend on cash shop in TSW.

I am not saying its perfect but i feel its a good stepping stone, improve on the perks for subbing and voila. I am not against the GW2 model either, I am just really against the fully F2P models like Neverwinter uses.

So even though paying 15 bucks a month gives you nothing other than measly 500 coins for cash shop you would be happy to sub only because you don't like F2P models? which any other F2P player can buy from cash shop any ways?

Makes no sense to me really.

You didnt read what i said did you ? I said it needed improvement, I never said 500 coins a month was enough, so if it makes no sense to you its because you responded before reading what I wrote as i somewhat agreed with you.

And for that matter i never said i hated F2P all together, i said I hated a certain model within it, and GW2 isnt f2p either which is what you seem to prefer, so if anything you're not making sense to me.

I did read but i guess i didn't explain myself better. You were talking about how TSW model is better than NWN. I neither agree or disagree here though just making comparisons here so let me try again.

In NWN you are like everyone else. You get same amount of inventory, character slots, mounts, companions etc till you decide to spend money on cash shop. Even though it is not needed because you can do pretty much everything in game without using cash shop. But content wise you are on same level as others.

In TSW...you are on same level as everyone else in terms of content (just like NWN) even though you are paying 15 bucks a months. People who simply buy the box get same content as you.. no difference. The only thing you get extra is some fluff items from the cash shop.

So if i look at both i see no difference here other than you are paying 15 bucks a month for virtually nothing at all unless ofcourse you are one of those players who love fluff items.

So either spend fixed 15 bucks a month on fluff items in TSW or spend 15 bucks whenever you feel like on NWN... which is better is matter of perspective i guess.

But i think people are just so used to paying 15 bucks a month they don't really care what they are actually paying those 15 bucks for. They just want to because this is something they have been doing in past.

What is to prevent a game company, in this instance EA from changing the qualifiers for Full=1000 players, Heavy=800, etc.  To Full=500 players, Heavy=300 players?  I am not saying they have done this, just that it is possible and that an statistics derived from snapshots of the server login are flawed not just from a time of day / sampling error but from a manipulation error as well.

For people who don't want to believe that a game is actually doing well would go to any length to prove otherwise. I have read similar pots about GW2 as to how Anet is misleading the players through server numbers because it is very easy to jack those up even though in game it feels empty.

I think it will be like other double dipping F2P MMOS. You pay monthly sub and get set amount of free currency every month to spend on cash shop and if you want more well you pay extra on top of monthly sub.

And what difference those 100 of players make to your game experience? when you are not even going to interact say 10 out of 100? why 50 or 60 are not good enough?

I never understood this idea of surrounding yourself with thousands of players just for the sake of it when they make no difference to my game play.

Yes he is harsh and i don't support that but OP is spreading mis information about the game by comparing it to D3 and GW1.

People get away with a lot in name of an opinion.

I rarely see any negativity at STO as there is always something. Trouble with SWTOR it is too long between any updates and decent content.

WOW had 10 million subs, and now recently down to about 8 million. If SWTOR lost 2 million players it would be truly dead as it does not have that much. The more people who play the game there is more of a mixed reactions.

When I played SWG in the final years there was hardly any negativity at all - all the negativity stayed on these forums, as most people who played wanted to and were satisfied with the game, and although wished it could have been better accepted that the very small number of devs were doing their best and staying up all through the night updating it. Aside from Makeb, SWG had more stuff added to it in its last year than SWTOR has got in its entire lifetime.

That is because  you are completely biased and see and read what you want to.

And yes 'if' SWTOR lost that many players but since not all of us are in habit of over reacting by reading negative posts on forums, i know SWTOR won't just lose 2 million players and shut down its servers any time soon.

As far as SWG is concerned it is dead and was the most hated MMO not only on these forums but on the internet in general and probably the worst MMO i ever played after NGE.

Me and 3 of my friends have subbed again because we feel the game is worth it and we're having a blast!!!  Might not be a generalizing trend but I think we aren't the only ones. EA/BW have said subs and sells are up as well and I can believe it seeing the servers (NA & EU) are all on heavy load at peak hours.

And please remember that subbed players receive 500 Cartel Coins FREE each month + every item in the Cartel Market can be bought with good old fashion ingame credits. So, there. Things are really not dire and far from being in the shitter.

Sorry you don't like the game.

Subs only went up for Makeb, as even I subbed so as to get Makeb at half price. Woeked out well, subbed for double weekends, got Makeb, and then unsubbed.

If the servers are Heavy, then that means they are going down, as they once were mainly  FULL:

Gotto love this guy ....

"SWTOR servers are medium and low...game is dying'"

"SWTOR servers are heavy but game is still failing because once they were full'

How many players you come across in GW1, D3 and DDO while you are out adventuring?

You know the answer and you know that NW is nothing like GW1 and D3 . I have teamed up with so many random players out in the zones and got so many ninja heals and invites to fight tougher monsters...you telling me that is possible in GW1 and D3?

I suggest atleast play the game first. I don't mind valid criticism but i do mind blatant spread of mis information.

Do those games still have paying subs today? If they do, then the information is current as well as relevant. By your assessment they don't even exist. These are gamers paying right now in real time today for games & you say they do not exist? Okay...?

Look, you can eat out of a dumpster for free if you like. I could pay a fee & take a seat next to the dumpster & watch you eat, while I dine on a slightly higher quality food. However, I prefer to eat my dinner in a nice restaurant with good ambiance far away from the dumpster. Just my preference.

Every time i see someone using food analogy to describe WOW as a higher quality food my reaction is like this...

Not exactly a lot of positivity

This is really funny (and a bit sad) as we are now reduced to linking the official forum's as 'proof'.

By this logic, WoW died 6 months after release. ROFL!

There was not that many in WOW or any other MMO. STOs updates gets a lot of positivity

Hey, lets see if this poster's perception is actually based on reality!

Hmm..

http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=9773611&postcount=27

Umm...

http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=9773691&postcount=28

Yeah.. about that.

http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=9931131&postcount=85

Lots of posts about bugs / bad feedback on those but I was merciful and didn't include them. ROFL!

It took you to post #27 before getting anything negative? Then 28 and 85! All mine were done within the first 2 pages all within the first 20 posts. STOS negativity is negligible

Good feedback here, keep it coming. - nice!

STO forum moves a lot faster than SWTOR because of new expansion and increased activity. It has been what 4 days since the expac launched? once the rush dies out it won't be difficult to find nothing but negative posts on the forum.

And who the hell gauge success and failure of a MMO from forums anyways? if it was true WOW and GW2 both would have been shut down by now.

I don't think any MMO would try to emulate features of failure like SWG. Now if it was a success it would be another matter. There is a reason why so many MMO try to copy WOW and no one tries to copy SWG.

You guys learn nothing do you? stop comparing every MMO to WOW because it never ends well.

It would be funny to revisit this topic 'if' FFXIV RR ends up being another F2P title after people leave in droves.

F2P isn't a trend it's a safety net for bad games in an over satured market.

SWtoR and Fallen Earth. I defy anyone to claim those were good games that went F2P because it's a superior business model. I never paid past the free month for either. Shadowbane I used to subscribe to and it's the only subscription game that ever truly became free to play, as in didn't cost anyone a cent to play.  It doesn't take a crystal ball to read an obvious trend. You can get a few thousand to play any MMO but to make real money you need a good game. Here's a thought exercise. How many of those P2P games that converted to F2P would have been made if the developers could have known how they would turn out? Zip. Nada None.

No it does indeed takes the crystal ball to read a not so obvious trend because to form an educated guess one needs some example or real data in present.

Do we have examples of many P2P MMOS turning into F2P? yes..do we have examples of these F2P MMO dying or shut down? nope.

As far as subject of good games is concerned do you really think P2P model in todays time depends upon how good or bad the game is? if it was true Arch Age wouldn't go F2P in asia even before  its release in West.

And i know people who would make bold claims like 'i would pay 50 bucks for a game like AA' on these forums. When game like AA didn't have a chance on its own home turf what chance you think it has with western players? none.

That proves the current trend and how people wouldn't just support a MMO in its pure P2P model no matter how good it is.

And honestly if Arch Age with all its features and content isn't considered a good game then i have no hope for future MMOS.

Sorry, but that is incorrect,  most of the straight f2p games are struggling, few have enough content to keep people more than a month or two.  The p2p with a f2p option are booming.  Pretty much affirms p2p will continue to be the primary payment method for MMO's with significant content.

If you share some relevant information i would be thankful because i am getting tired of people making up their own stuff to drive a point home. Which of the P2P MMOS are struggling?? any relevant or official link or information would be great. And what P2P MMOS with F2P options are booming?

And please do not reply to me with your own person guess work.
