I'm bored already.

I've gotten level 31 with my main, got alts at 10 and 15 and some minor. And I don't feel like opening the game and start leveling anymore. It's a hassle. I feel the leveling takes too much time, and isn't as interesting. I mean, I've had fun until now. As a guy not really interesting in story, so I don't listen to a voiced book all day, I skip that part, and play the game. As I enjoyed the combat, the builds availiable. But all in all, I'm bored. I unsubbed, and are falling back to my old MMOs. And I don't think the market is really up for more sub-based games at this time.

I mean what should I do? When I think it's a hassle to even start up the game, thinking about all the grinding of quests. I didn't really get into the crafting even. I hate the fact that an item, and the whole item can be ruined in an attempt to make it better. So I've been researching and gathering mostly. Finding the inventory(bag and bankspace) also annyoing in the game. I want to save up for that faster horse, not spending it all on bag and bankspace.

The itemization isn't even that interesting. Damage, enchants with various damage and stuff is mostly it. Then the traits, more xp for that particular item, less costs upon dying? Boring. Set items is of course the thing, but why collect a set at level 30, when you get better invidual items a few quests/mobs later.

Anyone else feeling this? I'd liek tip on what to do in order to feel less bored with it. I'm in 2-3 playerguilds already.

Sounds to me like your ready to break out of the mold of these themepark games and are ready for a game where you make your own story and not follow some cheesy story on rails.

If your skipping past all quest nonsense its because you are probably tired of doing these same quest in every single MMO and you dont need a NPC talking to you to realize its still the same stupid quest.

Actually TESO are not "the same stupid quest." Seriously have you even tried the game? I haven't run into a single fedex or kill 10 rats collect 20 bunny ears quest that are the main stay of pretty much every MMO before TESO. Also No offense to the OP but if he can't be bothered to read or listen to a quest its doubtful he'd be willing to put the effort into making his own story.   No games for everyone and that's cool its obvious you have decided the games not for you and its probably not for the OP either best of luck to the both of you in finding your dream game. Have Fun!

I am sorry but there are plenty of fedex quests in game which makes you run all over the map.

I'm lucky if I can play for 30-45 mins with out feeling like I'm about to pass out from boredom.

At level 24, I already feel like I'm burned out on questing.

Grinding mobs is a little better, but with so few skills/spells available even that is getting boring and repetitive.

Group content is a joke. You either get Leroy Jenkins Cousins, or Nerd Rage King and his Knights of the Spread Sheets.

What ever happened to the games I could play for hours on end with out ending up face planting my keyboard before an hour is up?

This has to be by far the funniest thing i have read in days on these forums. hahah

You sir won the internet.

Do you often take pleasure in others misery?

Questing as a sole component of an MMORPG, does, in fact become boring.

Other activities need to be present.  Sandbox / Sandpark games come to play here.  They generally involve social interaction, without everyone being lonely and solo player oriented.

Take SWTOR for instance.  SWG was a great sandbox'ish game, and SWTOR could have been too.  But  it's all about questing and "personal achievements", than anything else, for a solo player game.  Fans wanted outside activities like Pazaak, Sabaac (card games), or Pod, Swoop Racing.  Stuff that brought players together.  None was added and SWTOR never became a sandbox style virtual world, where players interacted (outside of lobby queues now).  TESO has many similarities to SWTOR, which is why I bring the comparison up.

He was quite funny and if after reading his post you came to conclusion that he is miserable then i guess you didn't understand his post at all.

You know I subbed to SWtOR for over a year ...starting 3 months after it's initial release. And even starting on new toons in that game , I found myself space baring through the main story sometimes, and of course space barring through all the shared quest on those toons. Since playing ESO...I find that I am simply locked on to what they are saying or actually taking the time to read the lore books I happen to find!

Rushing to level in this game just seems counter productive.

Swtor story didn't pull you in and ESO story didn't pull in OP and others like him . So his way of leveling is as counter productive as yours was in SWTOR.. no? or ESO is special?

Don't worry i am sure many will join you after first month is over. This MMO doesn't have the lasting appeal to keep the player long term.

They did change the way AH's work. They are guild centric. ..that is new.

I was talking about global AH. Removing something isn't new. Reminds me of GW2 where fans were claiming that eliminating the features = new.

Here here, I am absolutely loving ESO for doing something different and doing it well. I hope everyone waiting for WildStar gets what they want out of a game as well!

I have no idea what ESO did different and i have already sunk around 60 hours in the game.

I find it funny that the same people who are lambasting ESO for not having a global AH are the same people who in other threads are constantly complaining how every MMO released is a copy of WoW and how no one tried anything new… Hilarious actually.

Regardless, I like not having a global AH. It has encouraged me to be a bit more social (something I had almost forgotten how to do in modern MMOs) and actually talk to people. My personal experience hasn’t been negative regarding massive trade spam on chat but I guess it could be the time of day I play. I have joined two large trading guilds and have had no problem selling items and making $$$. I love crafting so making items and selling them is half of my fun playing an MMO. I agree that the bank guild store interface sucks arse and I am hoping the at least add a search by name function when browsing for goods.

As far as what one poster mentioned as being regarded or knows as the best trader/crafter in a game… Reminds me of my rose-colored-glasses-days in Shadowbane. There was no global AH in that game either. You went to one of the “safe” cities and hawked your wares or you built a “neutral” trading town and have people from all parts of the server come to your town to buy/sell goods (minus a small “transaction fee” charged by the store owner). This of course attracted thieves to the town who would prowl the edges hoping to kill a lone target laden with goods to sell or attracting the ire of a powerful guild who would be hell-bent in burning your town to the ground… In summary, creating opportunities for interaction and engagement by the community…

Just my 2 cents.

Not this argument again please. Removing AH is not doing something new. New would be to make changes to way AH works not completely get rid of it.

I don't care really.

ESO is a little above average and Wildstar is average at best.

Atleast in ESO i will get my moneys worth in a month or two times. If they succeed good..and if they fail ..makes no difference to me.

I am actually hoping that games like EQ NEXT are more successful because that is what this industry needs more.

Nope. Not worth it in its current state. I would suggest wait for 6 months to 1 year atleast.

The Auction system splinters the economy, not everyone will need the same things, it costs too much too post anything and makes people feel isolated. Non crafting/trading guilds are having issues finding players, people will get tired of trying to maintain a healthy population in their guilds due to inactivity and the such. The list of problems goes on and on and on.

Splintering the players into guilds for buying/selling/crafting does the opposite of creating a community, or causing people to be more social.

It's a horrible system and should be changed to a global system with a guild system still available to those who want to use it.

One thing I noticed is all the horrible, backwards thinking ideas and demodernization "features" in this game people love to applaud not realizing why the industry moved on from those horrible ideas years ago. The defense will end soon enough and people will see the game has a solid foundation but several badly implemented or thought out systems and "features". Things that push players away and cause players issues and will be hurting the game as people are finding out now that is already starting to happen.

The real interesting thing is that you have players going "nothing new," "no innovation," "feels like playing the same game" and yet the moment anyone tries something we get this. "The industry moved on!" "It's 2014!" "Omg, why didn't they do it like X game?" from the exact same people.

Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't but if you want progress or something less cookie cutter, criticizing because it isn't like what has already been done is not the way to do it.

Not to mention half of your "problems" are what if scenarios that you haven't given any evidence for that you are using as "proof" of an issue that probably hasn't even happened yet if at all.

And here i was thinking that innovation is moving forward and not backwards. No AH is as innovative as replacing perfectly working round tires with square ones.

You would be wrong about innovation then.

Innovation is taking anything in a new direction, even if it means taking a few steps back to see if taking the left road would lead to a far different outcome than where the right road has taken us. No one has invented anything without failures, or 'didn't work as well as I' or complete accidents and unintentionals.

"Moving forward." What does that even mean? Sounds to me like a generic buzz word that has no definition. Much like the term "innovation" is around here lately.

The current system is not perfect. Not by a long shot. But if their goal is to integrate buying and selling more deeply into a social experience, or make it take effort to shape the economy they want in their game, than an auction house is most likely not the answer.

We had an auction house in early beta. They didn't like what it did to the economy. So they tried something else. It's clumsy and can really use a search function and more features, but it works. I'm making money with it. Buying what I want.

This is where innovation comes in.

Which, by the way, the definition of is not "what I like is innovation."

New direction doesn't always mean the right direction though. And this is the step in wrong direction.

I also find it ironic that you say innovation doesn't mean 'what i like in innovation' and yet you defend this archaic model of trading? to me it seems like for you innovation means 'what i like in innovation' and not what is more convenient for others.

There are lot of other places where changes are required in MMOS but why mess around with perfectly working system?

And if you don't like buzz words stop using the word 'innovation' in your posts. Too much double standards going on in your post bud. You are all over the place.

Auction Houses are lame. I like seeing trading happening in zone chat.

Already enough nonsense spam in chat.

And guess what? game doesn't even have trade channel. I have to switch off zone chat several times due to all the garbage in there (thanks to the immature community).

I can see that Zenimax is planning to put the future sub money to good use by telling us to use third party website for trading.

Even F2P games give you better options.

Their players already praise their beta numbers with the amount of big macs sold around the globe.

Also showing off with an amazing cinematic trailer that has got nothing to do with the game.

Truly, its a game changer. Long gone are the days when the company goes straight up and says the active subs. Long are gone the days of hyping players by showing in-game footage and systems.

This my friends is the new face of MMOs xD

And everyone who agrees with me is a bloody hater!

Huh? you make it sound as if this is new trend . Cinematic trailers which got nothing to do with actual gameplay is something that has been going on for almost 8 to 10 years now.

Were you living under a rock or something?

40 hours? Must be new to mmo's I would probably be max level or close to it by than. Unless this is like a Korean grinder.

It's teh nature of the game really there's a lot of running around, if you're doing content and not power leveling. IT's by no means a game like lineage, but it's not exactly TOR either. It's closer to Vanilla WOW or LOTRO in terms of pacing.

Man for someone who doesn't even play the game you do write posts as if you are drawing from your own play experince. Its like i have to remind myself that 'this dude doesn't even own the game'.

Crazy!!!!!

The Disclaimer was meant as a joke. My point however stands. The two trailers are not even in the same League!

Ofcourse when it comes to FFXIV nothing comes even close to its league right? considering you are such a die hard fan of the game..do you see the irony here? ESO fans and you are two ides of the same coin.

Both trailers do not represent the actual game play in any way.. both are fluff and both serve the same purpose..advertisement.

I like how you get all defensive when FFXIV is mentioned.

I never played SWTOR but i do agree with FFXIV ARR score. 8.4 is too high for such a bad MMO.

MUDs.

I know kiddiez can't grasp them, but take away the sparkles and other useless screen clutter, add in an actual community, and you've got thousands of options. Only requirement (most of the time, there's exemptions) is that you know how to type rather than holding down W and spamming 1,1,1,1,1,1,2,1,1,3,1,1,1,1,6,1,1,1,1,1,1,5. I know it hurts the teen demographics a bit since a lot of mods and gm's will flog you for thinking the NUMBER 2 is a word, but hey... they used to teach things like spelling, grammar, even English in schools, if that's no longer the case, I should be able to halve my taxes every year =P

I miss the MMO's I used to play, but since the average gamer being catered to these days has the attention span of a cat with 2 mice running around the room, what I used to enjoy is long gone. Turned to single player games for awhile, and while they're great for wasting time, they're quite watered down now as well. So went back to MUDs and haven't turned back. Even the casual wimps will be happy they can just jump in, do what they want, and hop off without commitment.

Go ahead and let the suggestion flaming begin =P

You could have said all that without backhanded insults too you know?

You always catch more flies with honey.

I can afford a bug zapper, why would I waste honey? Read it as a whole, not like the bible where you just pick and choose a piece here and there. The only people that would be insulted are the ones that probably can't read it anyways, in which case, they'll be insulted once someone reads it to them lol.

You are just proving my point. I did read your whole post and you could have said all that without generalisations and back handed insults in paragraph one.

I always find it ironic that people who call others 'kiddies' are the most immature themselves.

Nice job OP - you got the masses in a frenzy based on misinformation.  You can use the items on all your characters just pop whatever you want in the bank and there you go - every character has access.

That is not his issue though. He is talking about deleting the character and losing items that is before you stored them in bank for transfer. There was no in game warning for that. The warning came on patcher quite later on.

Speaking of misinformation, it WAS on the in game mail.

Sorry it wasn't. I read the email there was no warning. That is why i was surprised to see the message on patcher.
