The game has a 5.8 review on this site for a reason - yes it's that bad. Something fans of the game continue to ignore. 5.8 is 5.8 = bad game. If you want to pay to play a bad game that's your right, but don't come here and mislead new people who might be thinking of trying the game - you have a responsibility to let people know how bad this game is. |

Gameloading your posts are inaccurate and misleading to new players. Archlord pvp is dog doo and there are much better pvp games out there L2, Shadowbane, EVE and DAOC. Not only do these games have much better pvp they also have much better pve. Archlord bounty system penalizes players heavily for pvping. If you kill someone they can put a bounty on your head - if someone kills you (and they will) you lose 10% exp which at lvl 50+ takes a long time to get back. 1) your ascertion that everyoen who rates the game has never played it more than a couple of weeks. Is false. I played for one month in the top guild in the game and I was lvl 52 when I quit. The reviewer got it spot on this game deserves its low scores here and at other review sites, the pvp sucks and the pve is repetitive and BORING. If you like the game fine, there's a few players still playing it - but please don't mislead other players by saying that it has good pvp or pve, because your lieing. If all the reviews by professional review sites are bad, and the score here on this site is 5.8 and dropping, and the reviews here are bad - well maybe just maybe - their right and your wrong. Just a guess. |

What a silly article, really stretching for material? Our society is full of sexism. Both kinds. To the writer, why don't you make a mmo with ALL fat ugly short people? See how well it does. ps - Watch that peice of dog poo show with William Shatner "Show me the money" and tell me about sexism and scantily clad women. |

Lineage 2: FBI and NCsoft Stop Illegal Servers

I'm not a fan of the grind in L2 so anything that makes less people play, is a good thing imo. Shadowbane FTW It is so much a better game - and it's free! |

"Actually that is nothing more but your opinion." This site is all about player opnions on games. That's what the site is for! If you look under ratings you can see various players and peoples reviews of the game. I read reviews so I know which games ot buy and which ones not too. I rely on players putting up their honest opnion about a game. The ratings at this site are probably the most accurate as they take an average of a lot of different players (not reviewers) who havent played the game and gives the game an average rating. This game stinks. And its score here and at other review sites reflects the fact that it is a very poor game.

"That is your personal opinon and is not shared by everyone...no one is saying AL is the best MMORPG out now.": You know bro, open your eyes... the game is getting terrible reviews not only from me, but from everyone who plays it. (sorry, except you and a few others who are still playing it) It's just a really bad game - and I took the time to write out exactly why. Are there worse games? yes... so? Your argument makes no sense. You say peoople should eat dog doo, because theres things that taste worse than dog doo. Dog doo is dog doo. |

Ryuu Paying money for dog poo is just wrong. If I can just save just one person from this monumental piece of dog doo I'll feel like I've done my job, I'm sorry the game is just that bad. If you like it great, but there's hardly anyone who agrees with you. Most people left the game a long time ago, the game has bad reviews from every mmo reviewer out there. When 95% of players and reviewers think the game is dog poo, dont you tihnk that means something? This game has a 5.9 user rating for a reason, it stinks and I outlined very good reasons for why it stinks, ignore me and other players and reviewers if you like, but the game is dog doo. |

"lvl 44 and still moving..." Just wait til you get over lvl 50, thats when the grind starts. I mean seriously you do read don't you? I guess not, and the guy who posted that he was mad crazy to buy this game, yup mad crazy is right. When 95% of players say the game is a piece of dog poo, it usually means something. Go ahead waste your money, its obvious you dont listen and you think you know better. |

General: MMOWTF: Don't Hate the Player...
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/14/06 3:25:18 AM
I believe in "open" pvp and feel if you can't hack it - you shouldnt play it. The fact is I don't grief, I am actually a pk hunter - thats the role I like - without griefers who would I hunt? I truly hope that more games like Shadowbane and DAOC are introduced into the marketplace and less games like L2 and Archlord. |

PLEASE I am seriously trying to save you the time, your money and the grief. I played the game for a month and lvld up to 52. I was in one of the top guilds on the server. PVE Kill mobs, farm, kill more mobs and farm some more. At lvl 50 I was killing dogs in dungeon 3 for .04% of a lvl. Its mindnumblingly boring. And heh lucky me at 51 I got to do it again for even less exp... yes there are quests to do, but basically their kill mobs and deliver stuff... standard stuff. Rarely do players group to exp, they only group to use a feature called auto loot, so you dont have to pick up loot yourself system does it for you. Most players solo farm exp.... and solo farm exp.... and solo farm exp... Mob ai is terrible, most mobs stand there even if you run right by them - their strictly there waiting to be farmed. There is no raiding - boss mobs are extremely tough and rarely if ever drop anything. they like the rest of the mobs just stansd there waiting for players ot kill them - which hardly anyone bothers cause their not worth it in drops or exp. PVP Very poorly implemented and not open pvp, is abused by experienced players as I will explain. The reason I started to play is many fan boys and the publishers keep saying its "hard core" pvp (its not its hard core pve in the extreme!) well maybe hard core in that they punish you hard core for pvping. Experienced players will not attack you, they will do everytihng in their power to get you to attack them first, taunt you, try to ks you, try to train you... etc... but they will not attk you first because they do not wnat to flag themselves for pvp and risk getitng a bounty. Bounty - is a system whereby if you kill another player who is not pvp flagged they can put a bounty on your head - regardless of your lvl or your lvl difference (I once killed a lvl 58 who put a bounty on me) go figure! When you are bountied if someone kills you - you lose 10% exp. How do people find you? They go to the mayor in town find out who has bounties - put you in their friends list (friends list tells people what area you are in) and then they come kill you. There is no Archlord as the promoters of the game keep advertising - false advertising anyone? Be the Archlord?? They dont have it in game yet, and if they ever put it in, it will probably be as buggy as the game is. Overall a very poor game. Do not listen to the fan boys, I have been playing mmo's for 8 yrs, WoW, EQ1 and 2, L2, AC1 and 2, shadowbane, AO Trust me - this is a bad game with pretty grpahics and some nice features (summon party members, trade in party, passports, shared storage, ingame mail) But the pve and pvp game play are poorly conceptilized and implemented and at lvl 50 you will be wondering what the heck you were thinking!

Wow is a great game from lvl 1 to 59 - and well worth the time and money. After that don't expect much - they ruined pvp with instance pvp and raiding the same place over and over competing with 3-5 other guys for the same gear - means you have to go back, week after week - yikes! Some people like that kind of stuff - I dont - just a massive time sink imo |

Good solid review that pretty well sums up the games faults. This game might be good in 3-9 months, we can always hope. |

"oh, your one of those "I need 101 reasons and rewards for pvp" before enjoying pvp, nvm, not going into debate with you. despite there is no reward for pvp yet, Clan politics are already going on." No I outlined very solid reasons for why I feel pvp in AL is poorly implemented. I dotn need 101 reasons, just one, and griefing other players is not one of them. "On a sidenote, ArchLord system will be implanted in next patch. keep in mind that the minimum level to particupate in the ArchLord system is level 60, and close to nobody reached that level yet, so it doesn't really matter." - please link this information for me - this is simply untrue. there are no plans for AL implementation and no time line has been introduced. Why are you spreading false information? - in my guild I am lvl 47 and most are over lvl 40, as well we have people in our guild that are over lvl 50. Thats after one month of gameplay. "Also, since when do you need to click on your skill bar in pvp? I remember holding control + double click to engage in pvp, but after that, you can use skills just with the shortcuts, you don't need to click on your skillbar." - actually the way I described is the way to initiate pvp - because it allows you to use your skills right away, your way is the default game design, but it's an auto attk and doesnt engage your skill attks. try it you will see what I am talkign about - who knows you might even learn somethign about the game But back to point - in shadowbane, DAOC you dont have to ctrl key to attk another player. If AL is so hard core why the extra key presses? AL is not hardcore as promised by game devs. "I don't think you get rogue points for killing a purple skull either, but I could be wrong, I haven't killed anybody 4 lvl's below me back since beta." - if someone lower lvl than you (by 4 lvls) initiates combat with you and you choose to defend yourself and attk back and you kill them you will get villan points. For a guy who professes to know the game - you sure don't know very much. |

How many of you guys actually have played public release of Archlord?
General Discussion « ArchLord 11/01/06 1:51:06 PM
I have a lvl 47 toon and a lvl 35 toon and belong to one of the bigger guilds in the game. I am only playign this game because i have played every other game on the market. AL is a very poorly implemented game and deserves its very low rating. the grind is terrible.... at 47... its gettign unbearable. the pvp I have written about is very poorly done... It's just a bad game... something to play until one of the newer pvp titles comes out - if I was into it - I'd reroll a DAOC or shadopwbane toon - both games are much much better than AL. |

ActuallY I do pvp, its the only reason I bought the game. but other games do pvp much better. ie: Shadowbane does pvp better / DAOC does pvp better. 1) Targetting is god aweful - you have to click on someone to select them as a target then rclick on your hot bar (your special attk ability) while holding down the control key. you dont have to do this in real pvp games as pointed out above. 2) Rogue points - if someone lower lvl than you (4 or lower) attks you and initates combat - if you kill them to protect yourself you will get rogue points - after enough rogue points you will get penalized in various ways. this doenst happen in real pvp games 3) Bounty system - is open to abuses by players and is not well implemented - I won't go into here - as for players thinking about buying the game - just trust me you can grief someoen this way. Just imagine losing 10% exp! 4) no Archlord system in place Need i say more? 5) Guild ranking doesnt work Need i say more? 6) Most guilds will not war because they are too afraid of the stronger guilds and dropping skulls. ok so now I want to address pvp - is there pvp in this game? Yes - but its very poorly implemented as explained above. It could be a very good game - but I like I said... it deserves the poor rating. Don't be fooled by the fan boys who ignore the glaring weaknesses of the game.

It really depends on when you strarted to play the game. I first played wow as soon as it came out - so I found the community was awesome - because everyone was new and just figuring things out. When I started EQ2 it was laready a year or 2 old - so most low lvl players were alts. And most people rolling alts are just interested in lvling and not exploring , making guilds wet... The best time in any mmo is durign open beta and the first few months of launch. True for any game. |

Agreed I think DAOC has one of the best pvp systems out there - altophugh I do think the melee do get the short end of the stick in some ways. Really - it's more you need em for manning the catapults. Having range in most pvp games is a real advantage. DAOC is a very good game and deserves its high ratings - tioo bad their not cvoming out with a more updated version - I still find the grahpics very dated and them ovement could be better. All in all a real gem and a classic.

Archlord is a "pretty" game on the outside it has many appealing aspects - grpahics, combat animations. But there is very little to do in the game besides grind, and farm for cash to help you grind. as in most mmo's at early lvls (before 40) this doesn't seem so bad - so the new player is thinking wow great game. But after 45-50 the grind is unbearable and many players are starting to quit. There is no end game as of yet, no guild rankings and no Archlord. So right now - the game consists of grind and farm. Yes the grind is that bad - auto pot spamming - no healing class ingame so no reason to party - the only reason people party in this game is for autoloot (system auto picks up loot for you) The game DESERVES the low rating it gets, its all pretty witrh no substance - EQ2, DAOC and L2 are much better games. |
